A lovely cup of tea, and a genuinely superb and beautifully decorated zingy lemon drizzle cake, at the cosy Coffee at 43. The decor is smart, understated, and soothing. The atmosphere is calm, welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended.

I've been in here before and found it wasnt a bad place - staff are polite and accommodating. I went in recently however and asked what gluten free cake they have (I suffer from coeliac disease) and a girl told me chocolate fudge cake or coffee cake, I had the coffee one before so went for the chocolate. Turns out. Later that day. I was very poorly. My partner had to leave work and pick my daughter up from school as I was vomiting so much. My mum went back to the cafe to tell them about the cake not being gluten free and one of the staff had told me it was when it wasn't. All they said was 'sorry' nothing else. If it was a peanut anaphylaxis allergy I'm sure they would have taken it more seriously.. people don't take food allergies seriously when it is. I wasn't well and my partner lost half a days wages because of their incompetence. It's dangerous to not be educated on allergies when you work in a food business. Will not be going back there. Shame.

Called in one afternoon in June. For a cup of tea, and a light meal. Looked clean enough. We both had a cheese burger and chips, not a difficult meal. Easily the worst I have ever had. Tasteless bun, dried out burger, with a boring side salad. No complaints with the hot water poured over the teabag. The coffee shop is cash only, and no receipts offered, which means hoping the nearest cash machine is working. Not sure why you would run a business which only takes cash, it must make auditing for tax purposes very difficult to check. Plenty of other good coffee shops in Ashby, don't judge them all by this one.

I arrived with my mum and my son I tried to order our food but was advised that they had no sausages for the breakfast and they agreed to extra bacon. It took over 15 minutes after ordering for the drinks to arrive my food came out no breakfast after I finished it arrived when it did the bacon was very salty WONT GO ANY AS THE SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE who brings out food at 10 minute intervals

Myself and my wife were in ashby and thought we would pop in for a quick coffee. We soon found a table and decided to order tea and a cold sandwich each, as there was a sign on the menu saying no HOT food orders after 3.pm. As it was 3.30 we had already decided to order a ham sandwich and a cheese sandwich (staff had heard what we were going to order). I went to the counter to order and was grunted at by the lady behind the counter that they had stopped doing food at 3.pm. I did comment that it says no hot food but we were actually ordering cold foods. She insisted in her grunts that it's to late. We went to leave and a lady who work there added some grunt on the way out that they close at 4.pm and that we wouldn't have time to eat. (Surly that's for me to decide). It seems to me that they were more interested in going home rather than customer service. I will not be using this place Again and I would Recommend this place to any body. There is a much nicer coffee house across the road with Lovely staff

I have frequented Cafe @ 43 on a number of occasions over the past 3 years usually for coffee and cakes, and have always found the surroundings to be clean, pleasent and staff friendly. This morning I visited for a family breakfast, where we all ordered their full English fried breakfast, which I was pleasantly surprised to find wasn't greasy and the portion sizes standard. The only down side worth noting was that you aren't offered a choice of how you would prefer your eggs, unfortunately its scrambled or scrambled with no option of a fried egg in sight. You do however get a choice of toast which is either white or brown bread. I found the bacon to be very tasty, but it did come with the rind on which wasn't a problem for me, but it might be for some people. The accompanying mushrooms and tomatoe were very nice. It's worth noting that if you are intending visiting, then be warned that they only accept cash, so it could be slightly embarrassing if you order and don't carry cash like me! Not sure why they don't accept card payments, since the majority of businesses today accept electronic card and contact less payments.

I had no problems on my visit, a pot of tea and cakes. Served very quickly and found that what was served was good. The staff seemed friendly enough and the cafe itself was very clean. They had a good selection of cakes and the lemon drizzle cake was very nice indeed.

I visited this awful place today. I understand that they were due to close at 4.30pm and walked in at approximately 4pm, but there was no need for the terrible service that was received!!! I was greeted by a very rude blonde woman grunting ‘we close at 4.30 is it cold drinks you want because we’ve turned the machine off’. I agreed to have a cold drink and she started once again grunting about the types of cold drink they had. We sat down at the table waiting for our cold drinks- when it arrived the glass was disgusting!!!! It was scratched, cheap, grubby and smelt awful!! I left half of my drink!! The place needs a deep clean (don’t forget the salt and pepper shakers as they were in a terrible state). Also I would seriously consider getting better friendly staff! I am appalled with my visit here and would tell anyone I know to avoid it like the plague!!!!

No choice of how you'd prefer breakfast, it's a fixed cooked affair for £4.95. The bacon was rind on, cheap & salty. Sausages were cheap, probably frozen, just tasted of grease & pepper. Egg was only available scrambled & tasted like it was made from liquid not freshly cracked eggs, it was tasteless. The grilled tomato was watery & tasteless, however the beans, mushrooms & toast were nice. The americano coffee with cream was nice, although the cappuccino was weak, too hot & lacked foam on top. The cakes & scones looked nice & the seating was pleasant, service & presentation good. Glad we tried, but sadly wouldn't return.

Only been once but as they say, first impressions count. Ordering was easy, no problems there but two errors were made by the service staff on our order. Simple to rectify (which they did) but errors that were just down to lack of concentration on their part I think. The food was nice and the place clean and tidy. Without the two errors I would have given 5 stars.

Very friendly welcoming cafe. It was our first visit but won't be our last. We decided on the ploughman's afternoon tea and it was delicious and the presentation was very good. We had ham finger sandwiches, pork pie, scotch egg, cheese and biscuits, apple, coleslaw. pickle, fruit scone, jam, clotted cream, an assortment of cakes and a pot of tea which was refilled all for £7.95 per person which we thought was very good value in fact we couldn't eat it all and was given a container to take our cakes home. Would highly recommend No. 43.

I visited this establishment on the 03rd of November with friends, my wife had a hot chocolate which can only be described as awesome, it was well presented with lots of marshmallows on it and very very good, the coffee served was equally nice, the hosts pleasant and environment very nice. Very clean and definately will be back, the only slight downside was I think they were struggling for seating due to being really popular, which is no bad thing

I was staying in the Premier Inn and bought the meal deal at The Anchor. Having dined here on several occasions the service is always amazing both at dinner and breakfast. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Stu, Josh, Sky and the rest of the team are amazing and make your dining experience great. The food is always lovely.

Went for a celebratory birthday meal to the Sheffield Arms which had come highly recommended. We weren't disappointed. It was the best 'pub' meal I've had in years. Two had meals from the menu and two of us had the wonderful all you can eat carvery. Everyone enjoyed their meals (lasagne and Yorkshire Pudding wrap) but the carvery was exceptional. Great choice of vegetables, meats, sausages and the most gorgeous baby potatoes. The staff were great, very cheerful and friendly and the puddings were delicious too. I understand that the Sunday carvery has even more choice. We paid £9.95 for the carvery - brilliant value. The pub is beautifully decorated; of course it was busy but the service was excellent. It still retains a local feel but definitely book if you want a meal. Thank you!!!!
