The food is very good and the prices are very reasonable. The staff are efficient, professional and welcoming. I will certainly revisit this restaurant. Light and airy with plenty of space.

The restuarant was surprisingly empty for Friday night. The food came very quickly, cooked fresh, we were all finished in 30 mintues thinking I'd be there for an hour. The only issue is the dessert menu has only three menu items and would be helpful if the menu told me the vegetarian options.

Every meal we have had here has been enjoyable. Delicious food, delightful, efficient staff. Ordered a takeaway tonight for the first time, which arrived piping hot and was of the same high standard. Yes, the restaurant lacks a bit of atmosphere but this is more than compensated for by the food and service.

Take away. On two occasions we have had a take out from Coconut Tree, I cannot praise them enough tge food is tasty and they cater for Coeliac disease. Gluten free. We will be using these more often, very tasty.

We visited here last week whilst on holiday. Chinese, Japanese, Thai and Malaysian food, which was just the best! We had sweet and sour chicken and Roast Duck Ho Fun. Good value for money - cooked to order, piping hot, plentiful and full of flavour. Friendly and efficient service. If we were in Herne Bay longer, we would have gone back again!

Whilst visiting family in the area we ordered a takeaway from this restaurant, selected based on other Trip Advisor reviews. We weren't disappointed - from the lovely lady who took our order on the phone, the home delivery (hot food and in the time advised), the quality and taste of the food was very good. We had crispy duck with pancakes, sweet and sour chicken, chilli prawns and a vegetarian stir-fry.

A superb little place in Herne Bay. If someone prefers to eat delicious Asian foods for reasonable prices, Coconut Tree is a perfect choice. We had crispy aromatic ducks, noodles with mixed seafoods, and Thai green chicken curry. Everything was tasty, and we had good portions. We are going to visit again

My first visit here. Perhaps not the most inspiring interior but friendly service and delicious food. (I had the Pad Thai). Would go again.

This is a lovely Japanese restaurant with a brilliant takeaway service. We have only tried the Katsu Curry with noodles so far but I’m sure the rest of the menu is equally excellent.

We were in Herne Bay for the weekend, and was recommended to go here as we love Thai food. From the outside it doesn’t look much, however, as they say never judge a book by it’s cover. Had a very delicious tasty meal. Chicken satay was exceptionally good as soooo much sauce - yum. Then enjoyed a Green Thai curry which was very fragrant. Would certainly recommend and visit again.

Wow! What an amazing little place! The ribs were just gorgeous! Coupled with a gorgeous and hot day, this little jewel nestled in Herne bay high street right in front of the beach felt like being on holiday in my own town. Can’t wait to go there again!

I had pad Thai which was lovely, staff polite and friendly, the premises was clean , can not wait to return.

Lots of appetising dishes, served with pretty variable quality. My dish tasted like a fairly average chow mein (not what I expected from the description, but it didn't taste bad either). The sweet and sour chicken in my partner's dish tasted great, but the stir-fry veg was pretty much raw and the rice was strongly peppery. The aromatic duck was delicious, but could benefit from more pancakes, sauce, cucumber and spring onions. The beer drinkers in the group were pretty disappointed that the beers were served warm, especially as some of the options need to be served very cold. Overall a pretty mixed bag. Given how good some of the local takeaway options are, I'd probably go there instead. I also witnessed some of the worst service I've seen at a restaurant. Everyone we spoke to was very young (not a problem in itself) and didn't really know anything about the dishes or drink options, so I wondered if the normal managers were all ill or on holiday. Unfortunately, I can only review the people who were on shift, who were generally slow, unprofessional, lazy. They didn't say anything rude, but there was a lot of eye-rolling and audible sighing for pretty standard requests (e.g. some water alongside our drinks and enough cutlery for everyone).

Nice restaurant and good service. The Thai green curry was very tasty (slightly different form traditional version, more creamy) and comes with rice so good value. Complimentary Thai crackers and the complimentary dessert was a nice touch. Will definitely visit again. A lively lunch.

I've been to this restaurant twice, in the evening and for lunch. Both times I've enjoyed lovely fresh food, great service and a nice atmosphere. Plus at lunchtime they offered a complimentary dessert! I would definitely recommend if you are a fan of Asian food, and I will be returning again 😊

Just arrived back from a lovely lunch at this restaurant. The decor is modern and clean and the service was friendly and efficient. We had chicken Gyoza to start with and Singapore noodles for main course, all of which was delicious!! We will definitely be back again soon.

This is an honest and fair review - Me and my partner came here on Saturday evening. This was our first time coming here, having lived in herne bay for 20+ years in quite surprised I haven't been before. But I must say, we was both left feeling disappointed. The food was good and so was the service , but the whole restaurant seriously lacks finesse. Where we was sat all you could see was the buildings from outside , which aren't the nicest looking buildings. So that instantly reminds you that you’re in the middle of town that is very run down. There was music on, but was so quiet and was like spa music (where’s the theme in this place?) my gin and my partners beer both came in a tumbler glass, our meals was brought to us one by one just in hand (no tray? Or serving table) … you see where I’m going with this? Point is, it felt like we was sat in a cafe eating a dinner. I can’t understand what the theme of this place is? There is no theme. Such small adjustments to this place would change the game! • Proper glasses for the right drinks • Thai , Chinese style music • take the frosted glass on the window all the way up so you feel your somewhere else and not looking at those buildings • plants , Chinese / Thai ornaments - something to resemble the theme • candles on tables , meals brought with finesse etc etc etc. Other than this; everyone was really polite and friendly and food was good. But because of the reasons I have said I wouldn’t spend money on this place again. UNLESS it was to make adjustments. I really hope this review helps the business and takes this on board.

Lovely family business, long established. Freshly cooked authentic Asian food. The Cumin lamb is one of the best I have tried.

Delicious food, really fresh and delicate. They do crispy noodles which are often impossible to find outside London. Pricier than others but you get what you pay for, this is fine dining not filling a hole! Pleased they now do delivery as well. Closed Sundays and Mondays.

Coconut tree is hands down the best restaurant in the bay!...I have been going there since it opened and now I have moved 5 miles away I still go there regularly but more often get takeaway .There was a tiny issue last takeaway where half of a meal was forgotten but when I phoned the manager Victor the following day he was fabulous and organised a free dish for our next order with no quibbles..the staff are friendly and helpful and the food is the best in the area ...I don't understand why it is not busier which would help the vibe on quiter days...only complaint is the price of delivery for me which seems excessive at £5.….however this is a place that needs to be supported as there is nothing as good in a 15 mile radius.

So disappointing! Pad Thai was gloopy and claggy with no 'freshness', no veg just fat noodles which stuck together and left a very salty (soy) type taste in the mouth. Pretty unpleasant. The sort of food you regret eating - especially when it was so expensive £11.95 for a pad thai. Which I would happily pay if it was a good one with some fresh veg and a bit of flavour/chilli! The chicken satay was nice but only 3 skewers for £6.95 is pretty steep. Feel cheated to be honest, didn't live up to expectations.

Lovely food. Lovely staff. Only let down by one incredibly scruffy male waiter who looked like he just got out of bed!

One of our party ordered crispy duck. When it was served the duck was dry and hard to swallow. We told the waitress who apologised and said she would bring a fresh one. However the rest of us had finished our meals and the new duck dish had not materialised, so we cancelled the duck as our friend did not want to be eating alone as we had finished our meals.The waiting staff were lovely, but the manager had no intentions of making any sort of good will gesture to compensate for the inconvenience of one of us having not eaten due to the initial serving being inedible and the replacement not arriving within an acceptable time. Would not recommend.

I had pancake duck the duck was not crispy it was burnt. My partner had noodles only had 3 prawns the desert we thought was the complementary desert like they have always done in there which was a small slice of banana with toffee on them with a very small scoop of ice cream. Always been a complementary desert but they do not tell you it now costs you over 5 pounds each. Since having the meal we have been unwell with upset tummy.

Such a friendly restaurant. The staff are fantastic, and the food is terrific to match. The spicy squid is so delicious, and everything else we have tried so far is great too. Prices are very good value and many dishes include a generous portion of rice, so you will not go away hungry. Can't recommend this place enough.

Stumbled across it by accident as we were walking round in the evening and nearly walked past it. This place does itself a disservice by calling itself a noodle bar as the food is lovely as are the surroundings. We were expecting an informal service and dining experience but got one of the nicest Chinese meals we've had in a good while. There is a good choice of both rice and noodle dishes on the menu and the staff were really accommodating (I didn't want rice noodles, but egg noodles with my option and they happily changed it for me). The food is Chinese/Thai/Japanese options and really delicious- definitely one to try!

Not overall impressed with my meal which was udon noodles with seafood. The seafood consisted of 1 prawn, seafood sticks and chewy squid, noodles were very greasy and just didnt taste right. The waitress was very friendly and polite and the restaurant was very clean and smart looking.

The place was very cold all evening

I hear Asian food, and I'll be there secepat mungkin. Lived in SE Asia for almost 30 years, predominantly Indonesia, and wrote about food extensively. Sad truth is there is so little genuine Asian food around that often we have to settle for poor imitation, especially the cuisine of Southeast Asia in all its diversity (Malaysian is not Indonesian, Thai is not Vietnamese, Singapore is not ... well, you get the picture). It seems like "pan Asian" in the UK often means I have a pan, I visited Asia, I'm going to have a go at cooking it. Great expectations for here because of the inclusion of SE Asian dishes on the menu. How was it in my buku? OK - I think in those moments of giddy elation just to have something that resembled Asian food I pronounced it "delicious" to the server - but the fried rice was pretty standard, serious lack of spice combinations and needed a dollop of kicap manis (kecap in Indonesian) that sets the nasgors of Malaysia and Indonesia apart from the blander "oriental" fried rices of other parts. Chuck in a few crackers why don't you - no nasi goreng server anywhere in Malaysia or Indonesia serves a fried rice without crackers to scoop it up with. I asked for extra chillies, which I got, but try laying out a few genuine sambals to boot. The fried tofu was, alas, like so much tofu in these parts like fried cardboard compared to the scrumptious crispy on the outside, moist on the inside tofu goreng of SE Asia street vendors (try serving it with kecap manis and onions,now that's something). Did see that there was Ikan Bakar (grilled fish) on the day menu but no great fish eater. Service officious - hey, I was a single diner who ordered two mains (one to take home) plus a side, how about tossing me a free dessert to be nice - and pleasant enough, that's all. When it comes to the potential offerings from SE Asia, there's a whole smorgasbord out there: gado2, tempe - now that could be a hit if done right - rendang ayam or sapi and, for that tofu, try doing a tahu telur with a kecap manis sauce, now we're cooking. I left a healthy tip, thought i would be back but, on reflection, nope, not worth it when it really doesn't cut the martabak for me (talking of martabak, that would get people talking!!).

The best food , victor and his staff always make you welcome and will try and accommodate adjustments to dishes on the menu to suit you . We are regular sit in and home delivery customers, and over the few years we have used The Coconut Tree we have never been disappointed. Excellent all round.

We have always ordered from here through the lockdown and twice they have delivered to another address which is a minute drive from them without any questions except for tonight!!!! Wanted to charge us £1. 50 delivery charge, well coconut tree you just lost 3 very loyal customers!! Thanks for nothing!!..... We ordered for delivery as a late valentine's dinner. My partner loved the Thai green chicken curry and my Pad Thai was amazing. Lots of meat in both dishes, prompt delivery and friendly on the phone. Would definitely order again!

Brilliant. The Team have given the restaurant a comfortable but secure feeling under current conditions. The welcome was warm, service attentive and food excellent. Definitely worth a visit, the squid starter is one of the best (if not the best) I've tried (and I've tried a lot!). They do a good trade in takeaway as well so if you don't feel comfortable sitting in get on the phone for a take away.

Like eating in... But it is infuriating that cannot pay by card over the phone like most establishments.. so have to drive in for takeaway as normally don't carry cash on me.. Please update system will get more business

Been coming here since it opened. A credit to Herne Bay. Fresh and tasty food. Cleaner tasting than any of the Chinese take always. The price is very good. Nothings ever a problem (some members of my family are particular or fussy) the staff have are always happy to accommodate and deal with complaints very well. Thank you for your service over the years. ❤️

Waited 2 hours for a home delivery that was paid for but never came. Rang after an hour - “order on counter, about to be delivered”. Rang 30 mins later - “driver on his way” Rang 20 mins later - “driver has already delivered it! Let me call him” Rang us after 5 mins - “we can’t find order on system. Must have been when my computer crashed.” Managed to get money refunded but no meaningful apology or attempt to make things right. Won’t use them again.

My boyfriend and I are both vegetarian and when we were greeted by the chef, he assured us that he could change some menu items to be vegetarian. Instead of Thai green chicken curry, my boyfriend had a lovely tofu and mixed vegetable green curry and I really enjoyed my veggie chilli noodle soup. Ingredients tasted very fresh and staff were extremely friendly. We even got complimentary toffee apple and toffee banana with ice cream for dessert - lovely touch! Fantastic value, great food and helpful staff.

The only place we can find that does char keow teow. Been twice, once to eat in, once as takeaway. Both were excellent. Nice to see good attention to social distancing etc given the current pestilence. I recommend. I'd go more often but I don't even live in Herne Bay, so it's quite a mission!

We go to this noodle bar weekly the food is that good! The staff are friendly and the waitresses helpful. The Laksa is my absolute favourite and my wife only ever has this or seafood noodles as she says they are to die for! I have the Thai green curry and my cousins' had the chilli prawns and the cumin lamb which they said are full of flavour. They agreed whenever they come to visit they we will visit this place for lunch (We live in Margate and they visit us from London) Excellent value for money and food full of flavour!

The menu for this place online sounded really good so was eager to try. But when I arrived the stuff I saw online wasn’t on the menu, there was a lot less to choose from. I had the duck noodles which I found the duck quiet fatty. I had a chicken dish on the side, which I did find delicious. Was better then the main. I would try it again, but not in a hurry.

Good food, well presented by friendly staff. Reasonable priced varied menu and not like some similar venues not the usual boring takeaway meals on a plate.
