Coco Mill in Carlisle

Completely disgusted by the service received. Unable to book a table larger than 8 and when I requested 2 tables was told that was against policy. When they finally decided that they would do this we were told our tables would be at opposite sides of the restaurant. Very unaccommodating and due to this lost £700 bill we paid elsewhere. I will not be recommending this establishment to any of my future trainees.

Lovely meal, waitress was great - really friendly and totally on the ball with questions about allergies. Top notch, thanks again

Just moved to Carlisle and enjoying checking out nice places to go to for a relaxing drink and great atmosphere, we've been back to Coco Mill a few times and it is definitely one of our favourite places, haven't tried the food yet but looks delicious 😋 Have now tried the food and its great, an all round top place to eat out and enjoy cocktails in a great atmosphere X

Went here a couple weeks ago and I was thoroughly impressed by all aspects of this restaurant. The menu is diverse and of high quality and the staff are friendly and attentive. Best restaurant in Carlisle I'd say.

Very nice food. Bur the service was very slow. And the area where I sat was very noisy. It's also a bir expensive.

The food was very nice ⭐️ Service was good ⭐️ Clean toilet facilities (top of stairs) ⭐️ Food was served quickly ⭐️ My wife and i really enjoyed Coco Mill, only a couple of things that need tweaking. It's understandable that such a popular place has a large roll over of customers as the night goes on so i guess this can be looked at as a positive and a negative view point, it's the been told you only have half an hr left at your table and then kinda felt we are being forced out and having a staff member settling your bill on their terms...i get it and see they are thinking about new customers ect..so it feels like ok your done guy's now move on. Maybe ask the customer if they would like to move to a cosy area as they will need our table, and we would have most likely had a couple of extra drinks if this approach was implemented.

We had brunch here, my wife had the baked brie and it was frankly amazing, I had the steak and egg and again it was spectacular. The atmosphere is lovely and the staff are helpful and quick about everything. Cannot recommend enough.

Food was very poor. Service was OK. Seating arrangements we're very uncomfortable.

One of my favourite places to go in Carlisle. Lovely food and great atmosphere as well as quirky decor.

My first time in Coco Mill and I was greeted by our waitress Tess. Her enthusiam and zest for life was second to none. I entered coco mill hungry but left in love. Food was lovely but performance of Tess was priceless. 10/10 would recommend her.

Possibly my favourite place to eat in carlisle! Menu is really good, plenty of choice. Opted for the roast beef dinner and was beautiful. Nothing to complain about. Staff very attentive, nothing is too much trouble for them. Kids welcome too.

Decent food but if you're in the back bring a torch so you can see the menu. Service isn't in a rush to serve you and you'll find yourself sat with an empty glass, trying to flag down one of the servers.

Has a lovely lunch with a friend and got a festive cocktail called says naughty list. Had the best burger and flatbread and creamy garlic mushrooms

Great bar. !! Very expansive menu. Also a great wee vibe about the place. !!!!

9 of us sat down food was ok apart from one cold and one wrong plate .

Superb place for food and drink

A group of 9 visited here yesterday to celebrate a birthday. We had a large table and everything looked very nice & clean. We ordered drinks when we were seated which included a mix of pints, juice and cocktails, and we then ordered food. From the time we ordered food to the food arriving it was around 25 minutes - maybe a bit long to some but no issue for us especially as we were a table of 9 who all ordered differently (meals included a wagyu burger, chicken burger, tacos, pulled beef sub and chicken parmos). Every one of us thoroughly enjoyed our food (I had the beef sub and it was delicious, 10/10 would order again) and the cocktails also went down a treat. Not one of us had any problem with their food or drinks. From the time we sat down to us having finished our meals was around an hour - no time at all again considering the table size. Service was great and we were never sat waiting for someone to arrive to be able to order another drink. All in all, a lovely place with fantastic food and drinks and will definitely be visiting here again the next time we’re in Carlisle.

Closure of the Howard prompted a visit to this venue, sadly didn’t live up to Howard standards; food was tasty but warm at best and it took over 45 mins to arrive which was a shame given attentiveness of waiting staff. The search for an alternative continues.

I used to really rate Coco Mill but the Menu is really hard to pick from. No healthy choices, I’m sure I had a Caesar salad earlier in the year. I had the pulled beef with Yorkshire pudding and although the beef was really tender, which you’d expect from pulled beef!, the Yorkshire pudding was so soggy not crispy. Obviously been microwaved and wasn’t that hot. Staff never came back to ask how our meal was otherwise I would have said. Also staff not that attentive.

I ordered the cumbrian steak and I was pleased to see that they are one of the few that don't lie about the size of their meat.. This 16oz steak was like something from the flintstones! The peppercorn sauce was perfect and the mac cheese almost defeated me. The moules et frites were quickly being slurped up on the other side of the table too! Great staff and the price was well within expectations for the class of establishment.

Nice place. Food ok. Good variety of meals. Some are excellent some need to modify the recipe as very salty. Great place to meet with friends.

The best Garlic Mushrooms I’ve ever had. They were delicious. Katsu Chicken was lovely too. The tiramisu was delightful. Service was fantastic and the atmosphere was lovely. An all round excellent experience and I’ll be sure to be going back.

Lovely starter, smashing service but the steak was poorly cooked, tough as old boots and for what it was - overpriced.. Value for money - No!!, would I return - No!!

Greeted by a miserable guy who tried to discriminate our attire while we were in a business meeting finally after him being told he let us sit down only to seat us in the smallest table in the place when no one was in after we asked for a biggest table he still wouldn’t let us. Ordered a lot of food. Asked for nachos with sour cream got mayonnaise instead!! Absolute joke of a place sent it back got a new one no apology. Got a Cheeseburger asked for no sauce came with sauce after letting the guy know I didn’t want it. After £100 all I can say is that we will never be back food was awful. The chef and the guy that greeted us should be ashamed. Poor service The Thai lady who was a waitress was lovely the best worker there by far could work in any job.

Came across this bar whilst checking out the local bus station. Looked inviting, so took a chance! Lovely decor, and good ambience with several large groups and families in - though not noisy. Excellent food - sourdough bread with garlic butter, monkfish and prawn kebab (small plate) with Elton mess cheesecake to finish. Excellent service. Would be happy to return.

We visited for a family Birthday meal recently, always our first choice for atmosphere and good ambience . The singer that came on later was great too , really enjoyed him . Cocktails excellent especially as I always have margaritas which aren’t on the menu , but they make them for me anyway . Food perfect , rib-eye especially so and service absolutely brilliant, love love love Coco Mill

Never actually went was just trying to book but the website was down so called to make a booking and was abruptly told by the idiot on the end of the phone that I couldn’t and it was my internet that had the problem. Funny that because where I live I have to use the internet to make calls as I said earlier idiot. Coco Mill you need to give your staff some customer care and telephone training. Now GGF

Always liked going to Coco Mill, but prices are going crazy £27 for a steak that was overcooked and £24 for cheapest bottle of wine!

Took my 13 year old Son here for a treat as I have been in the past. Staff are all friendly and polite and make you feel very welcome. Cocktail menu is amazing and my son had some of the juice drinks which looked like coxktails and tasted delicious. We both had fillet steak and it was cooked to perfection. This is one of my favourite places to eat and cant wait to return.

I am disabled, access was great. We where seated at a table quickly. Staff where friendly and amenable food is excellent tasty, great selection of drinks and food at reasonable prices and the atmosphere was great. I had the coco burger. Filling but many other fishes on the menu. This is my second time at the coco mill and will be going back again

We have eaten here before and enjoyed it, that's why we returned. But ho dear the food average at best .I have reviewed this place before, and we recommend it .I wouldn't now .all 3 of us didn't rate it at all. Nice surroundings, etc, but food poor, we will not be returning ..

Cozy, vintage style atmosphere, super attentive and very friendly staff. Well portioned meals with a wide, creative variety of dishes and drinks. Will definitely come back next time I'm visiting Carlisle!

My favourite place both on a Saturday night for food and drinks and on a Sunday for a roast dinner. Service is always friendly and efficient, the food is great and best of all the cocktails are amazing. Nana Lita’s are a must! If I had one criticism, it would be that the food menu doesn’t change much, so if you go often, it can get repetitive. Overall a wonderful spot.

Didn't eat here, but beers were nice, and so was the apperol spritz. Friendly staff.

Nice place for a drink and meal

This spot couldn't get much worse - BLOOD IN THE CHICKEN of my daughter's meal (which she didn't eat). We mentioned it to the server & were told the bill would be reduced (it wasn't) .... I paid £111.76 for the meals & drinks at the end of the night so it wasn't the cheapest place either. I very much doubt we'll go back & I wouldn't recommend it to my friends either.

We have been 3 times now once for breakfast, which was amazing, then lunch was OK, but we decided to give it another chance . Came and ordered our food, and it mostly came out tepid it was not hot . The chips were amazing and hot the rest mostly cold , we ordered a sharing platter took a bit of each one who wants to eat half cold food it's such a shame because if it was hot it would have been perfect. Still had to pay it was discounted but no offence it was mostly left no-one should eat half cold food and to serve it that way isnt safe . They did offer to recook again but we were in a hurry so I appreciate that but still had to pay half the bill for cold food We ate the chips and bread because we were starving and they were OK I can see other reviews complaining of the same thing regarding temperature of food . Make it piping hot, and it will be perfect

Gorgeous Food in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. We didn't need to book but it was a Monday lunchtime. Lovely staff. 1st visit for food and would definitely go back.

They offer a nice plant-based menu, even if they do not advertise it (I found it on their website). The vegan cheese burger was really good and so were the chips. :)

Coco Mill is a superb little place. Great service and food, with young expert mixologists who know their stuff. Love the old filing cabinets, signage/artwork, and fittings from Edwardian-era Nottingham, where I once lived. One point lost for having no non-alcoholic options at all, except Diet Coke. You absolutely cannot get away with that now. In the same vein, that you could ignore vegans at one point, but it's brand suicide these days if you do. The friendly service, and Nottingham nostalgia sealed the gold star for Coco Mill, but lack of zero-alcohol spirits/beer is a serious omission. Read the news and opinion pieces guys, it's what many customers want as standard.

Booked for a birthday meal with friends. The staff were really friendly, and were attentive to our needs. The food was absolutely delicious, everyone really enjoyed what they ordered. Will definitely be back and highly recommend!

Not for me im afraid. Didn’t really enjoy my meal. The pints of real ale were ok though? But not as nice as the Howard Arms real ale 2 doors down. That key lime pie you do isn’t good. Burgers were just burgers. Nothing special.

Went to Coco Mill today the service was SH!T!!! The syrup had also gone on the coke yet they continued serving it. The whole staff was argumentative didn't make for a good experience...

I live more than 300 miles from Carlisle and first visited Coco Mill on my way to Scotland four years ago. It was so good, that when I happened to be in Carlisle again this week, I was adamant that I'd visit again. I'll always come to Coco Mill when I'm in Carlisle!

Don't normally write poor reviews but was extremely disappointed with Coco Mill. First time there as was recommended by a few friends so wife and I went for lunch. It took 5mins to arrive only asking how long it was going to take. Then when it arrived the food was cold. Was extremely disappointed and will not be back.

When booking a table, beware, as we found out to our detriment, that 9pm is the latest that you can book for food. DOES NOT STATE on the website anywhere! The explanation of having to look at the next week in advances bookings to see what it looks like when you can book for food done in an extremely haughty and rude manner was uncalled for and unprofessional, especially all I wanted to know was if they were going to charge my card for not continuing with the booking.

If I’m need of a Sunday Roast this is a go to when I’m the area. We also had the Mussels and they were fab. Friendly staff and could fit our large group in with no booking. Great atmosphere and decor.

Very average meal, the starter was salty with very little flavour. The mail meal was filling but again not much flavour. Expensive for an average meal, service quite good but slow.

Went to coco Mill with a group of friends, £5.40 for a pint of estrella, it's not London and at least Dick Turpin wore a mask, ordered our food, I had the Malaysian monkfish, two small pieces of overcooked monkfish and 3 overcooked Prawns on...

We normally go to the last zebra in Carlisle but it was fully booked and was advised by their staff to dine at coco mill ,we Ordered Mac and cheese for my daughter who is a vegetarian and when the Mac and cheese was served...

I ordered the Korean chicken which was so salty it felt like my gums had Receded into into my skull. Cocktails nice.

I have to say that meal was most disappointing from quality of food which was over cooked steak side orders missing and a frozen cheesecake leftover from Christmas as a dessert no quality of service extremely very disappointing won't be back

The food was awful, glad I wont be coming here again! The monkfish noodle main was the worst thing ever - extremely bland prawns and rubbery overcooked monkfish on a bed of overcooked rice noodles with raw curry sauce ("laksa"). The prawn starter was very bland too. Would recommend to stay away from these menu items.

This is a great place to take your friends for a night out. The food and drink is unreal and service from an Irish fella called Liam stands out, pure gentleman.

One of my favourite restaurants in CAX, the team here really look after you and the fillet steak.. with blue cheese sauce… and rhubarb cocktails.. wow! Recommend to book prior to turning up, but the team will pull out all the stops to sneak you in if they have room. Fun, vibrant and highly recommended. Thank you coco mill team!
