Absolutely fantastic place. The butchers produce some of the best meat and sausages you will find anywhere. All sausages are homemade on site and the Cumberland sausage with black pudding are absolutely outstanding. On top of the quality products, the service is outstanding. From the staff in the kitchen, the waiting staff in the restaurant and the butchers themselves, no-one can do enough for you. This is the only place we go now when we are in the Lakes and stock up,on bacon, sausage, eggs etc to take home to County Durham. Cannot recommend the place highly enough.

We use this place regularly both on our way and return to Manchester. The food is fabulous great portions and always exceptionally clean and the staff are fantastic. Only downside is the potholes on the approach road have been there foer absolutely ages and today hit one that was covered with snow and damaged the tyre. Please please can you repair them l know you are spending loads on revamp etc but fill them in thanks.

The staff were all pleasant and helpful and the views beautiful. The vegetarian breakfast was excellent, as were the vegetarian sausage rolls. They try to use local produce where possible and you even go for a walk with an alpaca (or was it a llama?) next door.

A cafe with something different. Cafe not out of the ordinary, but it comes with butchers shop, a lake and a herd of Alpacas to see. An ideal place for a break if you are travelling into the lakes from Junc 40 of the M6, in between Penrith and Keswick. A good quality butchers shop offering a good range of pies and quiches etc. For pork pie lovers: a well seasoned quality meat filling with jelly, with a crispy bake pastry. Lovers of a soft bake pastry will be disappointed, especially given the quality of the filling.

Came upon this place whilst traveling through the area to Wigton. Plenty of parking, tea room areas had plenty of tables and the service was attentive. The menu had many options available. We both opted for fruit scones with cream jam & butter. Disappointed the cream wasn’t clotted. Also scone served cold. But it was tasty and the brew was also great! Salted caramel brownie oh my days!! Highly recommend when visiting the farm shop. Lovely farm shop. All in all lovely spot well worth a visit. Staff lovely

We went to Alpacaly Ever After to meet and greet (and feed!) some llamas and alpacas, and as suggested we arrived at Basecamp at 9 to enjoy some breakfast first. It was absolutely amazing! All locally sourced food that was easily one of the best breakfasts I ever had. We loved our experience meeting the alpacas, as it had been a storm for the last few days we did the meet and greet in the barn which was great as the weather was rubbish and we were worried about it getting cancelled and it meant the kids didn't get too cold. Our guide was super knowledgeable and friendly and even recommended us a trip to Whinlatter Forest which we did on our holiday and also enjoyed! Some reviews mention the price of food but honestly we didn't find it more or less expensive than anywhere else in the lake District.

We've always come here to the farm shop when in the Lakes to buy the fabulous steak slab pie but this time we could not believe how much it had gone up in price since 6 months ago, like £8 a pie! It's a shame but at £28 a pie which is now cut into 8 portions and not 6 it's I'm afraid just out of our price range.

Can't ask much more from an English/Cumbrian breakfast that was accompanied by pot of steaming hot tea for 2 , just what we needed on a snowy cold morning. Had a great breakfast here, wonderful views, a massive wood burner which I would love to snuggle down in front of on a wet blustery day. But today the late autumn sun was shinning on the lamas. Was staying near by self catering and decided to stop in for provisions for the week, the shop is well stocked with everything from meats, veg, bread, milk, cheese, pies and cakes, all reasonable priced and in our opinion value for money, everything we bought cooked well and tasted great. We also had Sunday Lunch not sure how busy it might be we decided to book ahead and we were glad we did as it was very busy and the reason why was the quality and quantity was amazing at a reasonable price. After trying Sunday lunch we decided on our last day to try breakfast, again we booked but as it was first thing it wasn’t necessary, but definitely a great start to the day is the Full Northern.

Myself & 2 friends choose a location in the Lakes area once a month for breakfast, a walk then coffee & cakes afterwards. First visit here was for breakfast which was excellent. Quality produce, service and location. We rated this the 2nd best breakfast we have had. (And we have had a few!) 2nd visit was equally as enjoyable. Lovely piece of Banoffee Pie for me. Took some cakes home for our partners, they were well received! Looking forward to my next visit with my wife as she will love the farm shop where there are a wide range of quality and unusual products you rarely see in the area.

Staff very welcoming into the pub. We sat in the lounge bar and had food and drink. Had the Sweet Potato Curry which was on the specials menu. Quick service and the food was really good and great portion size!

Stayed here to break our journey from Central Scotland to the Peak District. Had a very pleasant chalet type room at the rear of the property with easy access. Enjoyed a drink and an evening meal in the bar with our wee dog. We both had the sirloin steak with was generous in proportion and quite tasty.Staff friendly as were the locals. Would definitely return.

We dined in Bustro 1871 as part of a short break holiday at the Appleby Manor Hotel. What a lovely break this was. Our first after the Spring and Summer lockdown. The food was really good and the waiters attentive. Appleby Manor itself is a delightful hotel full of old world charm. We are returning there again for my wife's birthday in October. I shall again dine in Bistro 1871 as well as sampling the gourmet restaurant at the hotel on our second night.

Always nice to stay with Carole when in Alston, and always feel welcome. Food is very nice as well, and a great Cumbrian breakfast.
