Don't know what way to give stars on service waiters r very nice to speak too and nice manners .... But the people service serving food r a nother story asking one person taking food out from kitchen is it okay to go around other side food bar to get vegetables he says okay to then get told by the stuck up wifey serving meat that was there while I asked. told me to move to other side I may slip but to be honest the floor has less chance of slipping on than the ceramic tiles so yeah I won't be getting spoken to like that I will never be back so sorry owner but I think U need to fix this no signs saying not allowed around other side of food bar and sort manners in the wifey

Don't advertise as bar being open until 1030 when last orders 0945,asked to leave 1000.Barmaid ignorant.

To be honest nothing was great, service very slow and food awful

The only good thing about our visit today was the member of staff who dealt with us as we were having the carvery and the meat was dry, the roast potatoes were burnt and hard and the pigs in blankets were burnt too. Our server was full of apologies but advised the roast potatoes would take another 20 minutes and that was 10 mins after me asking the chef if they had others which weren’t burnt, she took the pigs and blankets off the bill but I felt that wasn’t enough but she couldn’t do anymore unfortunately and had said she had asked the chef when she started for fresh potatoes but they still weren’t ready by the time we left in disgust 😡

Good service and food is good value

The carver wasn’t for giving much beef away. Go to Dyce Farm for a better, and better value, carvery.

Chef very rude lady no large plates out an when i took one she said dont come behind counter an plate was dirty well said its meant to open at 12 and it was 10 past 12 my friend asked for different kinds meat told u can only choose 3 we were there for retirement an birthday but the lady who was manager was really friendly the young man who brought cake was so polite an friendly been a few times before never had any complaints but this time it was disgrace. Dinner sitting out no covers on it from 11.15 till 12.10 any wonder it was dry !! Went for breakfast one day and everthing was dry potatoe scone was hard as bricks but for my wee grandson being there a would of made a scene think we should have got our money refunded.

Sorry, we do NOT care for people who have food allergies. Worst breakfast ever!!! Here are three “food stations” - so you see what they offer. Quality is not very good. I can NOT recommend this place.

We had dinner this evening. The food was standard fare for a Toby Carvery. We were served by Lewis who we excellent. Very attentive, brilliant customer service.

Had carvery , tiny slice of gammon and tiny bit of turkey . Roast tatties cold , macaroni dried up and hard and crispy ,gravy lumpy , cauliflower hard , knife wouldn’t cut thru stalk . Can’t fault the staff or service , nice place too .

Been to this toby a fair few times now and all of the staff are so genuinely lovely and welcoming, especially Pat! She’s a star!

Mother’s Day - ruined thanks to this Toby Carvery. Used to be good, but not now. Place was very quiet for Mother’s Day dinner service which was the first red flag. Staff miserable, inattentive and all round creating a bad atmosphere. The lady who took us to our table was lovely but she was the only one. We had to flag down a waitress to take our drinks order, and she seemed shocked that we wanted something! The carvery chef was rude and seemed angry, cutting us the worst pieces of beef he possibly could have, so much so that it was inedible. Why serve us the fat when there’s a whole slab of beef to cut from? The macaroni was dry and tasteless, as was everything in the sides selection, it all tasted the same - bland. Desert was microwaved, and overpriced for what it was. I even overheard waitresses slagging off customers who must have complained - which is why we didn’t bother. No point in saying anything because if they cared, the place would have had the complete overhaul it’s in desperate need of! If you want a carvery like what this place used to be like, then go to Dyce Farm.

Clean food as we always go for the carvery… love the lamb and the honey parsnips 😊

The food was terrible, restaurant was disgusting tables covered in plates they cleared one but didn’t wipe it down or anything. Didn’t get a receipt but was definitely overcharged and found a nappy bin but no baby change!?

Breakfast buffet food tasty. Coffee cheap and watery. Better if they installed machine that grinds the beans as needed. Only had one mug. Not a one off for the coffee has been the same last few times. Update 14/12/19. Coffee stronger and better today. Hopefully it's not a one off. I'll post another update when there next. Update 26/2/24. Most food at room temperature only on buffet not hot and have not observed staff test food temperatures. Staff not attentive, did not even ask if breakfast was good, or say goodbye when we left. Too busy with their meeting rather than attend to people having breakfast, though this is no excuse as similar experience a number of months ago and I did not review, so staff or management can't blame the meeting. We were there for an hour and tables not cleared in that time. We had to ask for coffee to be refilled again, but to be fair the coffee tasted better than last time. Toasting machine not setup correctly, so when you toast brown bread is was slightly coloured bread. When you tried to spread butter on it, the toast had holes in it. Useless.It was better when they had an actual toaster and the toast was crisp. Most of the above can be rectified with proper training and good management.

I found the staff at the Toby carvery, cocket hat to be warm friendly and very hospitable. The pub proclaims to be dog friendly and I found this to be absolutely the case. My own dog Ella boo particularly looks forward to seeing her pal pat on Sunday afternoons. She gets routinely spoiled and it is a highlight of both of our weekends. I highly recommend a visit!!.

Went there today for a late lunch about 2.30pm, barperson/waiter was very nice and very competent. Carvery had a selection of dried up meat, mashed potatoes hadn't even been heated up roasters ok , cauliflower hard and cold the other veg looked unappealing and warm ,stuffing was solid and the gravy (what there was of it ) was thick and look warm. Very disappointed best thing was the amazing yorkies. When waitress came to ask if everything was OK I told her about the above and her reply was "your late coming for lunch " if your providing carvery all day it should be the best it can be from the start of service to the finish. Have been a few times before and this was definitely the worst visit.

The food is as exactly what you expect from Toby Carvery but the service was lacking on this occasion. Staff passed by when I had finished my starter and my plate had been put on the other side of the table. The same happened again after my main course. Although my plate was collected eventually, I was never served my pudding which I ordered at the begining. It was really hard to get the attention of any of the staff. It may help if they were not chatting to their friends at the bar or walking around looking at their phones. I did eventually get the attention of a member of staff who had to ask again what I had ordered. After another 20 minutes I gave up as I needed to go and as I was paying it finally turned up. I feel the good name of Toby was let down by poor customer service.

Table was booked, had to wait 10/15 mins to get table which was in a very cold part of restaurant. Service was extremely slow - at least 10 mins before anyone came. Very poor quantity given for the 2nd meat choice. Plates were cold, therefore food did not stay warm. Very disappointed overall. Have visited before & enjoyed everything. Saturday was nothing like any previous visits.

Served by a lovely member of staff named Kirsty who was really nice and friendly the whole time. Food was good, standard carvery fare, but staff going the extra mile made it.

We visited here today for lunch for Sunday carvery , There's mixed reviews on here so its fair to say i was a bit apprehensive , we wanted to take our dog out with us today as this place is dog friendly , Allocated seating area in bar is were you have to sit if you bring your dog shame they cant find allocated area as lounge is huge. Our food was great hot meats to choose from are gammon, turkey, beef, lamb , The Yorkshire puddings is a show stopper and tastes great , The chief gives you generous cuttings of meat, lots of sides to pick from , I had roasties stuffing ,mash, greens , and mac cheese plus gravy. I really enjoyed my food and was all hot, and I cleaned my plate. The staff here were all very friendly and helpful Pat asked if our dog would like sausages, and a young guy came up with a bowl of water for our dog soon after this our dog settled . real nice touch as a dog owner it can be stressful at times when you take your dog out in public especially any new surroundings, we will definitely visit again soon . nice place with very friendly staff.

Everything cold , apart from coffee! The eggs was swimming in oil and the rest cheapest products on market .yuk

Great- the refillable drinks. Poor- everything else. Disappointed is an understatement, carvery was so poor, hard food and barely edible which was raised to a colleague. Customer service was shocking for it being a Friday night 630pm prime time for food I'd imagine. Barely much choice in the veg looked lazy spread out and when enquiring about peas I was told there was snails in the peas which was the issue. Why would you say that in a restaurant when your about to eat? Waiters were poor aswell sat with dirty plates roughly half an hour to 45 minutes and it seemed like the guy was the only one going up to customers and serving. (Apologies don't know his name) we sat and watched plenty of the female staff members looking over at the dirty plates and just walked past. Couldn't even believe what I was seeing. Was charged one 6 pound main and the rest full price for an absolute shambles of a job. Turkey meat looked pink also to which I wish I had taken a picture. Absolutely shocking service and food.

A vast improvement on the last time we visited over a year ago when everythingjust tasted of grease. This time the food was far tastier and fresher and would happily go back again. Only real issue was lack of customer service. Nobody was clearing tables when the customers were finished thus when we left there were around a dozen tables covered in dirty plates. Barman was happy to just sit and play on his phone.

Apparently, this used to be much better, but I didn't have a great experience with their buffet breakfast. The food was greasy, overcooked, and limited. The place was cold even though a log fire could have been lit, and the atmosphere was seedy with gloomy lighting. The staff were a little brusque. Disappointing unfortunately. However, the parking was good.

Food was delicious with good portions. Clean and tidy surroundings with plenty of rooms on the table for four of us. Ana was charming, polite and extremely efficient.

Had Etty as our server a couple times now and she never disappoints, such a credit to the company and the experience is always pleasant when she is there

After a long trip, hungry and looking for food, we gave Toby’s carvery a go. The stale smell of lager, body odour and desperation really set the tone for some lovely pub grub, however, ‘lovely’ it was not. Making our way to the hot plate we were greeted by the server, a broad woman, similar to The Simpson’s dinner lady, but if she’d been through a very bad divorce and had found hard drugs. The benefit of having a big burly server however, was that she had strong forearms, necessary to cut through the meat which looked like a dehydrated camels urethra during a Sahara drought. Looking past this we moved onto the sides. Yorkshire pudding, a relatively difficult food to ruin. Challenge accepted said Toby’s because it was so dry and hardened, that when I tried to cut it, it flew off my plate and gave my girlfriend a concussion. The gravy had been left out so long than it had formed more skin than an uncircumcised Shar Pei. The best part was the stuffing, which was so hard we managed to take some home to repoint the gable wall with. 2/10 because we only had to pay half because it was so bad.

The food was very testy,specially the beef cooked weldone and the service was very nice, thanks to Anna and we enjoyed the time nice... Hope to come again.

Was here for breakfast at 9am this morning bacon was so hard you couldn’t cut it and it stuck in my husbands throat potato scones were also very hard don’t normally have problems but today wasn’t worth the money we paid

The food was nice. Farihah, our waitress, was a lovely young lady, really hardworking, efficient, and super nice. Price is reasonable. Defenitely will come back!

If you specialise in Carvery you need to be good at it unfortunately they are not. food quality was OK but hot plates are not fit for purpose. Everything was cold .
