The Cobbs restaurant experience was extremely pleasant for us - a family of four with grown up kids. The food was absolutely fresh. Highly recommend the risotto there. The restaurant staff was kind and friendly. The restaurant overlooks the Loch & it stands midway in the drive from Inverness to the visitor centre. It’s a great location and paired with great food and service, makes for an appropriate pit stop. Their whisky menu is absolutely fantastic.

Booked the restaurant based on reviews and wasn't disappointed. The dining room is wonderful the view onto the loch is stunning. The staff were very pleasant and happy to interact, I was suggested a lovely beer that I ended up choosing. The food was beautifully presented and extremely tasty (trio of venison was superb) although my 7 Yr old daughter ate most of the venison pie. My wife went for the Co which she thoroughly enjoyed. Only here for a short while but if we had longer we would definitely return.

We booked the restaurant on the reviews and weren't disappointed. The dining room is wonderful and tge view onto the loch stunning. The staff were very polite and engaging even suggesting a beer to try which was great. The food was beautifully presented and extremely tasty (trio of venison was gorgeous) while my wife opted for the cod which she thoroughly enjoyed. My children also enjoyed trying both dishes with my 7 Yr old daughter devouring my venison pie. We are only here for a short trip or we would definitely be booking again, lovely restaurant.

Service: We booked in advance, informed them of some food allergies and was told it was not a problem. When we arrived no preparation had been made for the food allergies, in that nobody had considered the menu and what would be appropriate and what wouldn't. For instance they had in fact run out of gluten free bread, despite knowing I was coming and presumably had some stock control in place. I was told gluten free bread was just coming, after waiting thirty minutes and having the mains arrive I asked where it was and was told they had gone to the shops....it never arrived. The service was appalling. The young ladies who worked at the restaurant spent more time chatting to each other than serving customers and a bottle of water took twenty minutes to be served with two reminders. The young ladies were also surly and unhelpful. The, what appeared to be, more senior male server was more helpful, which is why the restaurant has been awarded two stars over one. Location: The location is stunning and if you can get a table in the window, overlooking Loch Ness, it is beautiful. It does feel like a restaurant trying to be more than it is, in that it looks like it is trying to be a higher standard than it is, and charging the higher price. Most customers, if not all, are tourists, which is fine and understandable for it's location, and I also wonder why locals do not eat there. Food: The food was expensive for what it was, which was average. Recommendation: Personally, I wouldn't eat there again, I would perhaps go for coffee and the view.

This cafe is connected to the Nessie gift shop in the Loch Ness Clansman hotel. We walked over to see if they had any lunch options before taking the boat ride to the castle. They have coffee as well pastries & desserts. Breakfast and soups, salads and sandwiches are also available. That said what caught our eye was the Pasties and Tarts. We ended up ordering the Smoked Salmon tart to go as it was getting close to our boat departure time. It comes with a small salad/cole slaw and was excellent! They had a seating area with a decent view. The servers were friendly. They also had a Haggis Pastie which I wish I'd tried. Next time!

Don’t expect much for a little cafe that sits as a tourist trap right at the exit from the exhibition centre, but we just wanted to get our kids fed before moving on. Service was poor, with unfriendly staff, asked for a couple of kids toasties and still charged full price for them (don’t mind but place is massively overpriced generally). Told us to sit down and they’d bring our order to us. My wife’s and my food arrived 10mins before our hungry children’s and when I chased up our hot drinks they moaned that they had been sitting on the counter waiting for us. Top it all off - hair in my food. Yum!Just keep on walking - plenty of other places in the village.

I have a feeling many are confusing the name of this restaurant with Cobbs Cafe, based on the reviews. Our experience here was incredible. Our host at Loch Ness Glamping informed us Cobbs Restaurant provided a free ride service if we dined at their restaurant, which we loved and took advantage of. It meant we both got to have drinks without fear of driving - also a smart business move. From the moment Adam picked us up, to the beautiful meal of scallops and lamb and a vegetable tart (oh my!), to top-notch whisky recommendations from Anu, to drop off back to our accommodations after dinner, we had the most incredible dining experience at Cobbs. We were beaming the entire night and still are a week later. Just wonderful and cannot recommend enough. We hope to go back someday!!

Stopped here as part of a ten day bus tour of Scotland. They accommodated about 40 of us in a special upstairs room with a preset lunch consisting of some type of pureed vegetable soup and very strange small sandwiches. One bowl of soup per person but as many sandwiches as you wanted. Very heavy on the mayonnaise. Egg salad and tuna were identified. Possibly crab or shrimp also. Some others we couldn't identify. Coffee and hot tea included. At £10 per person it was a little steep but we didn't leave hungry.

I'm not sure why is it called coffee house because it's a proper restaurant and quite a good one. It has the best view of Loch Ness. Although the menu wasn't large, the food was delicious. We ordered Haddock and Salmon, both were carefully cooked and tasted lovely. Their website says book in advance to avoid disappointment and that's exactly what we'd done. We'd also asked for a birthday cake, which the waiting staff seemed a bit clueless about when I asked, but it was provided and they'd even put the candles on it (only disappointment was that they didn't write the name which I'd requested, but they hadn't promised, just said they'll try, so I'll forgive them for that). The service was fine, nothing extraordinary, but no too bad either. A bit over-priced I'd say, but may be it's because of their remote location and the fact that they use local ingredients. We had a great time nonetheless.

We decided to stop here at the downstairs café for a light meal after visiting the Loch Ness Visitor Centre next door. The bread in my ham and salad sandwich was dry on the outside and tasted slightly stale although the use by date was for the following day. However, my wife enjoyed her quiche and salad. We admired the display of delicious looking cakes, but decided not to have any as most of them were on open display and we didn't know who might have coughed over them or handled them. The staff were very pleasant, but the open display of cakes really put us off. I don't think that we will return.

Decided to grab quick lunch here after one of the fantastic Loch Ness cruises opposite.Could not have been much more disappointed. Only redeeming quality was the pleasant staff but there lacked any organisation of who was doing what. We waited due to a problem with the till but no notice by other staff that we were purchasing paninis to toast or to ask if we wanted to order anything else. The soup we got for our toddler came out as what I could only describe 'red gloop' - allegedly vegetable soup. Very little flavour and not surprising he left most and ate his breadOur paninis were uninspiring with a damp serving of salad alongside. Juice didn't get served with glasses, again had to ask another of the smiley but aimless staff.I was glad the bill was so low as so often places of Scottish Interest take the prices up but £16+ wasn't too bad but better service wouldn't have cost anything and perhaps some better quality in your produce on offer. Neither of us will be looking to rerun again though, prefer to carry on to Drum or Fort Augustus and see options there in the future. Not worthy a repeatPlease note this is the cafe element and not in regards the restaurant of the hotel.

Our reasons for choosing this restaurant were - they picked us up from our B and B (Great Glen) and dropped us off for free which meant we could both enjoy a drink. Also the restaurant offers a beautiful view of Loch Ness whilst you dine. Be sure to request a window table when booking. The food was good. Nothing spectacular, but both my fiancee and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Prices were reasonable.I've read plenty reviews on here saying there are better places to eat nearby, which may well be true, but we both agreed that you can get good food anywhere, you can only have dinner looking out on to Loch Ness here so it was a no brainer.

Honestly the worst Cafe I have been to in my travels. The service from the staff was vague, unsure and poorly presented. Now I wouldn't normally care about such things but the menu for breakfast was so incredibly small and unappetising they might as well not have opened at all. My partner wanted a big cooked breakfast but they did not accommodate this idea at all. Instead he had to order separately his bacon and sausage on a bread roll. Surely they had a tin of baked beans and a tomato laying around the kitchen! I ordered toast and fresh fruit, saying i would like a small fruit salad. Any fruit. The waitress was a little put out and eventually came back with a banana, 2 apples and an orange cradled in her arms and plopped them on the table. Gee thanks. Maybe you could of cut them up or even just put them in a bowl or something. So i cut them up myself with my bread knife. a little hard to do. I could see at least 2 chef's in the kitchen wandering around. They didn't look busy at all. I would not recommend this place at all. Very very disappointing. Put a simple omelette on the menu or something and train your staff to manage situations better. Even if she had just been a bit confident and apologised and gave me some poor excuse why the cafe didn't have better breakfast meals , perhaps we would not have been so put out and wasted so much time. I hope the manager does something about this.

My husband and I were staying and the Loch Ness Clansam hotel so decided to eat in the restaurant. We were shown to a table overlooking the loch which would have very nice normally. Unfortunately the weather was very bad so we couldn't see very much. We ordered the Chilean Merlot to start our meal, at £19.95 a bottle we thought it was slightly overpriced but not too bad. For starters I ordered the haggis and black pudding. This came with a lovely whisky cream sauce. My husband ordered the game terrine, which was good and contained huge bits of meat. The side salad it came with didn't really go with it very well but overall was nice. For main I ordered the fish and chips. The batter in the fish was very nice and light, but the chips were sitting in a little puddle of grease. I enjoyed the fish very much. My husband ordered the venison steak medium rare, but came out more like well done and slightly grey around the edges. Possibly frozen? Although it did taste ok, this was also in a puddle of grease. Service was fine. Seeing as there was butter on the table we asked for bread. At that time the waited then offered bread to all the other tables. The restaurant was also pretty empty which was surprising for high season. Overall, not great and slightly over priced (especially the steaks). It obviously plays on its location.

Called in for lunch whilst waiting to check in at the clansman hotel. Hubby had a pannini and salad and I had a tuna and cucumber sandwich. A coffee, tea and 2 pieces of millionaire shortbread completed our lunch, not much more to choose from and it was only 1.0 clock! Paid over £17 for it and was not worth half that! The pannini bun was soggy, tuna filling had no seasoning and was very bland. Shortbread was the only saving grace. Disappointed. View over the loch is fantastic.

We called at this cafe in early December and were pretty disappointed. There was a choice of 5 pre-made sandwiches on offer of three combinations :- plain cheese, cheese and pickle and cheese salad. The staff were not particularly helpful, stating that they could not make Panini's (which were on the menu) before making some for their own lunch. The sandwiches and soup (broccoli) were ok. The staff then continued to eat their panini, behind the counter, while making more cheese sandwiches. Not sure if they adhered very strictly to Food Hygiene protocols either. Also quite pricey for what we got.

Due to my mention of this restaurant in the review of the associated hotel, I will keep this review short. Again, thanks to Scott, Aaron and Kevin for making us feel at home and keeping us feeling welcome in our week long home away from home. The view of Loch Ness thought the massive restaurant windows just added to our experience. As I mentioned in the title we ate here every day and were never disappointed. From the service to the quality of food we were very impressed with the consistency of quality for each and every meal.Breakfast was included in our room and I usually chose the full Scottish. The porridge was exceptional as well and always came with either fresh blueberries or raspberries. Of specific delight to all in our party was this discovery of the patatoe scone. This became a staple item of each and every breakfast and we intend to learn how to make them ourselvesWe did not dine for lunch as were were out exploring every nook and cranny in the Highlands but we always looked forward to returning for dinner. Special thanks to the chef for filling my father-in-law's request for potatoe soup. Being that due to the length of our stay we were able to sample nearly everything on the menu and were were always pleased. From the appetizers, to the mains and the desserts, it was all tasty. We would stop by if in the area again no doubt. See you on the trail and remember, don't be one of "those."John Eric

We also did not get a drinks order taken till we had our food order. Once our order had been taken the unfriendly waitress came and dumped the cutlery on our table in a very rude manner. Our first impressions were excellent, the restaurant sent a complimentary car with a charming gentleman to drive us from our holiday cottage and the location is stunning with superb views over Loch Ness. However it was all downhill from there on in. When the waiter brought our menus he advised us that there was no lamb available - not a problem. However, after we had placed our wine order one of the wines (£38 a bottle) was also not in stock. Then we placed our food order and he then returned because one of the starters was also off. My starter of assorted smoked fish was ok (smoked salmon, smoked trout, smoked mackerel and some smoked mussels glued to the platter with dollops of pesto along with some very cold solid bread) though I suspect came from the cash and carry rather than local suppliers. I had the duck main course which was way overcooked wth a very strange red cabbage accompaniment. The dessert menu followed and two of our group were discussing the malibu cheesecake, the waiter then trotted over to say he had heard them talking about it and they had run out of that! When we commented on the large number of things that were not available we were brushed off by the man we later found out was the manger in a very brusque (bordering on rude) fashion. We asked for the bill and left vowing never to return. This place has one of the most outstanding locations in the area and is let down by the very poor service and less than average food. We won't be back.

The hotel is situated on the side of the main A82 road between Drumnadrochit and Inverness and is in a fabulous position. The hotel restaurant (Cobbs) is on the first floor with a glass sided room providing fantastic views over Loch Ness. It is worth dining here just for the views but do not go out of your way if you want a culinary experience. There is nothing bad about the food - it is just ordinary and quite expensive. On the plus side, the staff are engaging and friendly and the service was good although the restaurant was not full when we visited. Another major plus for us is that the hotel offers a pick up and return service - we were staying in a B&B in Drumnadrochit and the proprietors telephoned to make a reservation for us and arranged for us to be picked up. The young man who came to collect us was Polish and very chatty and friendly but quite bizarrely he also turned out to be our waiter for the evening and switched roles to drive us back again after the meal. To recap, the views and the service get this place a " very good " rating but the food lets it down.

No food on offer other than crisps, ice cream and a meagre offering of cake, shocked as we were there for a 1pm show and had travelled over an hour thinking we would be fine for lunch at the theatre. Staff were fine, no hint of getting things done in a timely fashion and not much interaction with customers. Decor is depressing, such a big space makes it cold and echoey. Just no atmosphere whatsoever. Very disappointed and won't be back.

We all had Sunday lunch (£22), service was good and waitress was friendly. However the Roast dinner was lukewarm, the beef was far from tender and the Yorkshire pud was clearly reheated and very greasy. The bar wasn’t able to provide many of the beers/lagers on tap. Altogether a very disappointing visit. We were here last year and I still remember The Venison I had. Clearly new management/chef. Definitely give it a miss.

A lovely restaurant with nice food and lovely helpful staff. A spacious restaurant with great views. On offer was fish and chips, macaroni cheese, steak and mushroom pie, beef and haggis olives.

Avoid this place . Poorly cooked frozen fish and staff who see you as sn inconvenience. They add a 10% service charge and offer rubbish service.
