Excellent meal out with the family! Service was quick and friendly. There were many Covid measures in place and I felt very safe. The food was delicious and we will definitely be back!

I dropped by for a spur of the moment breakfast - I know the hotel well and decided I’d rather go there than one of the cafe options in town. Breakfast is taken in the hotel restaurant ( when I called to ask until what time breakfast was served I was told 2pm,and it would be in the lounge area ?) On arriving I was shown into the restaurant and promptly asked if I was ready to make my choice from the many options available. I chose the English. The room and surroundings are comfortable with a pleasant atmosphere, and the coffee came in a cafetière which was a nice touch. The food arrived quickly and it looked very appetising. The breakfast consisted of two sausages, two rashers of bacon, a good portion of mushrooms ( not the thinly sliced catering ones which don’t taste of mushroom) baked beans, grilled tomato and a slice of fried bread. Eggs were also available, and of course toast was served as well. The breakfast was clearly cooked to order, and was nice and hot. The thing that struck me was the taste and quality of the sausages and bacon. No cheap ingredients here. As I was paying the bill I asked where they were sourced and was told they were from Woburn Country foods, which explained why I enjoyed them so much. I suppose the only thing missing which I’d liked to have seen would have been some black pudding. The whole breakfast experience was relaxing, fulfilling and great value - £8.95 ! Apparently this was a January offer price which has carried over, but I’d have gladly paid more.

We had a really enjoyable lunch at The Swan Revived Hotel. Sometimes hotel restaurants can be a little uninspiring, not being the main focus of the business but this restaurant definitely wasn’t. The dining room itself is light and airy with a contemporary, slightly quirky, feel. It is well maintained and very clean and the tables are laid with linen napkins - so often now with the trend towards more relaxed dining paper serviettes are used which I think is a shame. The tables are sufficiently well spaced that even when the room is busy there is an element of privacy. On the whole a good ambience. We had drinks at the table whilst looking at the menu. The serving staff were attentive without hurrying us which was good. I’m not keen on being rushed and we had a party of children and adults so weren’t, maybe, the speediest to make our selections! The menu offered a good amount of choice and was obviously all homemade as all of our requests for substitutions and ‘tweaks’ to the menu items - no gravy, swapping beef for chicken on the kids’ roast, roast potatoes not new potatoes on the salmon dish - were willingly accommodated! The food arrived after a short wait and was all as we had requested, including the tweaks! It was well cooked (al denté veggies, thankfully) and presented and, above all, really tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meals, even the kids! We had two courses and everything was delicious. The highlight of the meal, according to my dessert-connoisseur son, was the chocolate brownie, which he stubbornly refused to share with his mum! I’ll have to order my own on our next visit... If you haven’t been to the Swan for lunch, or if you have been but not lately, go! You’ll be very pleasantly surprised.

We returned to the Cob and Pen after an absence and were pleased we did. The room is very comfortable and the food was good. We'd had an issue with the portion size on our last visit, but after talking to the manager were reassured that the meals were now very generous. She was absolutely right as we had more than enough roast beef, three or four potatoes, a Yorkshire and plenty of vegetables. A very good bottle of Sancerre helped make it a very enjoyable lunch. The menu offered many alternatives to a traditional roast. We were pleased to see quite a few tables were taken, and will definitely return in a couple of weeks or so. We shared a cheese and biscuits for desert and left the restaurant feeling happy and contented.

Mothers day lunch time visit, Staff friendly and welcoming. The menu was a set menu with limit choice, but varied enough to not be an issue. I would like to return and try the normal menu to see what else was on offer. Roast beef was delicious and done perfectly. Plenty of drinks choice and the restaurant was accommodating, we finished out meal and decided to have a drink in the bar where we found the staff to be helpful and courteous also.

Very impressed with the food and the level of service. Four of us dining and the meals were all brought out at the same time, staff were very well trained and friendly. Decor very impressive. I hope it is successful as it’s a lovely place to dine in the heart of Bedford. I shall be recommending and coming here again to eat. The menu wasn’t that extensive so I hope they change it from time to time. Definitely give it the 👍 I

I booked a table for two via the Internet the night before, which was very straightforward. On arrival to the Hotel we were greeted by a friendly lady at the reception desk, we were directed through to the restaurant. We were asked where we wanted to sit, the restaurant was completely empty. We were give the food and drinks menu within a few moments we were asked for a drinks order, we asked for a few minutes but the lady who was most pleasant just stood there. We ordered rhubarb gin with ginger beer, on arrival they were in fish bowl glasses on ice. We toasted my sister-in- law birthday but the "glasses " weren't glass!!!! A REAL turnoff. We ordered our lunch that was superb and presented lovely. The second we finished the lady removed our plates and asked if we want desert ( we'd been in the restaurant about 40 minutes) we asked if we could have a short break. 5 minutes later the lady came across again do you want desert at this point I asked what time do you close, she said we're open all day and food is served until 2pm. It was 1.15?????? Well we ordered x2 banana splits and hardly ate any of them as it was such a rush. We were then presented the bill, no coffee or opportunity to order one. To summarise the venue/food lovely the service let our birthday lunch down. It was an expensive 1.5 hours, I will not be recommending to my friends/family

Very disappointing Mother’s Day lunch today. Booked only two days prior as we couldn’t get into anywhere else at short notice. Service very slow despite being the only table in there for the first hour - approx 45 mins waiting between courses. Starters ok - just had to wait too long. Main courses - Roast pork couldn’t be eaten as so tough, roast beef was also very tough, chicken on the bone, although menu did not mention this, and Yorkshire pudding very hard and inedible. Salmon nothing special. Overall the meal was very average, not good value for money and service incredibly slow. Ridiculous that you have to pay extra for a coffee when you are already paying £26 per head for food and we had to ask for the mints! We did mention the pork to the waitress and £10 was taken off the bill but we will not be going back.

As we're not big fans of hotel cooking we weren't sure what to expect at the Swans restaurant, but we wanted a change from the Red House and the various pubs in the area. Unfortunately some diners had cancelled due to a fine dusting of snow, so the restaurant was quiet. However this didn't really affect our enjoyment as the room is very comfortable and the other table was quite animated! One of the things we appreciated was the table layout, affording each table plenty of space. So many places try to maximise every inch of space, making a relaxed conversation impossible. We enjoyed a reasonably priced bottle of Sauvignon while choosing what to order. We skipped a starter and both went for the beef. In addition to the beef there are the usual choices of roast, and also a specials board. If you're not in the mood for a traditional Sunday lunch there are plenty of other options, such a burger, ribs etc. We were able to specify how we wanted the beef to be cooked - a well done and a rarer one, which would not usually be possible in most places. When it arrived we couldn't believe the Yorkshires, they were over 6" high !They were also crispy and light, and along with the very good beef, delicious roasts and veg, and an excellent gravy ( we had extra served in a gravy boat) they made the meal a very enjoyable one. We shared a cheeseboard, finished off our wine and left the restaurant having had a better than anticipated lunch. We really are fortunate to have a hotel like the Swan in our town, and we will certainly be supporting it more often in the future.

As a family we tend to stick to tried and trusted restaurants but decided to try somewhere new. This restaurant is in a lovely traditional English Hotel. The room is large and airy and had just been tastefully decorated for Christmas. There is a nice Sunday menu and we choose the Sunday Roast. One of the tastiest roast dinners I have eaten with plenty on the plate including PROPER roast potatoes and a delicious gravy. Tea and coffee were served in silver pots on a tray. Staff were polite and attentive and the price was very reasonable. We will be returning to this lovely place.

Fantastic Sunday lunch again at the Swan Revived's Cob & Pen restaurant. Booked in with my family this time, Great choice of traditional Sunday roasts! There was options of Beef, pork or chicken, fillet of salmon or a mushroom Wellington which went down really well! Myself, my sister and her partner all chose the home made smooth chicken liver parfait for starters which was on as a special- it was delicious best I've had actually, my nieces shared a bread board with olives and oils which looked great. I had the salmon Sunday roast for mains and was so happy to see they had my favourite winter veg on - cauliflower cheese! They had a dark braised red cabbage on and honey roast carrots/parsnips and other veg on serving dishes which we shared out between us- we asked for extra gravy as we all loved it so much. Could not fault service or food- plenty of check backs which is great to see ( I have a nut allergy) and was made to feel like nothing was too much hassle and we were made to feel right at home so thank you! We will be back soon to try out steak night!

Looking for somewhere to eat on a Saturday lunchtime whilst waiting for our car's MOT we came across this lovely place. We were offered a seat in the lounge bar or restaurant. We chose the restaurant. Service was very good and the waitress very polite. My husband and I both chose the lamb special and enjoyed it immensely (even though my husband's had to be kept warm whilst he went to collect the car). The lamb fell off the bone, the mashed potato smooth and creamy. Tthe vegetables were cooked perfectly. My husband then had the creme brulee and was impressed with the flavours and textures. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch.

My daughter and I were visiting from the U.S. and stayed here at the Swan revived Hotel for two nights so we ate dinner here twice and breakfast once. All very god food. It was fresh, hot, and very tasty. No complaints at all. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere, roomy, with a view to the street and the lights lowered just enough for a great dining experience. The staff was friendly and helpful and there when we needed them, but never intrusive. The menu selections were excellent, with a wide range of choices, including vegetarian. I would highly recommend eating here.

My wife and I visited last week for Sunday lunch. It was convenient to be able to walk to the restaurant rather than drive or cab it.We arrived to a fairly busy room where we knew almost all of the other local diners. We requested a window table, which if just a couple I would recommend. The menu is varied and should have something to please everyone. My wife opted for the beef roast and I went for the mixed grill. I did mention to the waitress that I was also considering whether to have the chicken chasseur and was it home cooked or bought in. She assured me it was home cooked so this might be the choice next time. The roast was perfectly acceptable, and my grill was also, although one or two of the meat cuts were a little chewy, but not so much to make them unenjoyable.Portion sizes were good and the chips were great. The only criticism is that no-one came to ask us how our meal was or if we needed anything ( after a wait of several minutes I went to the kitchen area myself to request a condiment.)There was a nice atmosphere, probably helped by a large celebration meal beside us, and it felt a very comfortable place in which to enjoy a meal.We will certainly return.

We came here on a Friday evening. I hasn't heard much about this restaurant but did not expect too much. I was however pleasantly surprised. Two of our party had the steak night offer - a steak each with sides and a bottle of wine £15 each which we felt was a good price. I had a vege burger which came with goats cheese and chips - it was very nicely presented on a wooden board. (The coleslaw was dodgy - I think it was off). The place however did lack atmosphere - it was very quite, could have done with a bit of music as I felt as if everyone could hear our conversations! When we arrived we were also told to wait in the bar area until the waitress called us through. We were there over 20minutes which was a long time even if we did want to order a drink! There were plenty of laid tables so we were a bit confused about the process. Will be coming back here in the coming months and will look out for new menus.

Used to be excellent but really poor food on our last two visits now. We were only one of three tables in, on what should have been a busy Friday night, especially since they now accept Tastecard bookings. Crab linguini was more like drab linguini, with a few ingredients, including several lemon pips, thrown in over dry unglazed pasta.Halloumi salad equally dire. Dry and tasteless. Real shame as the food used to be really great here and shame to see the place empty on a Friday night. We unfortunately won't be back, even with 50% off the food.

We did almost leave after looking over the menu as we didn't immediately see anything we fancied. Hotels tend to have to cater for a wide range of popular tastes which I quite understand but it can make a menu look bland. However!... I am glad we didn't leave. My wife and I had a surprisingly exquisite meal and were attentively looked after by the staff in the cosy and nicely decorated restaurant. Not having table cloths was a bit of a letdown in a nice restaurant though.I took the huge risk of trying the Vegetarion option, mostly a rancid re-heated after-thought in most hotels, of Wild Mushroom, Spinach and Shropshire Blue Linguine and it was amazing. Cooked to perfection, fresh and full of flavour with the linguine perfectly al-dente.My wife had the special of Pork Fillet with Mustard Cream with vegetables and mash which was equally delectable. The desserts weren't quite as nice as the mains but nice enough.Just for feedback to the hotel, I would recommend that the staff are all given regular taster days as our waitress was unable to recommend any dishes as she hadn't tried them.

We stumbled across this restaurant after living in Newport for many years. We went on a Friday night and were able to take advantage of the 2 steaks & a bottle of wine for £29.The interior was very nice and elegant. The wine was very nice also and our food was delicious. The mussels and whitebait we had for starters were very generous as was the rump steak main course and sizeable side salad. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will be back as we couldn't fit in pudding this time .

The Cob & Pen is the Swan Revived's hotel/pub restaurant. As locals, when we go out to eat we normally go to one of the many excellent restaurants in Newport Pagnell. But we fancied a standard steak dinner and the Cob is about the only place you can get one. I went on Friday night with my wife and found that Fridays are Steak night; £28 for two steak dinners incluidng a bottle if wine. Result! Our Sirloin & Rump were perfectly cooked and the wine of acceptable quality. the menu included a lot more than steaks of course and I'd imagine that the quality is equally good. There was a large table if around 15 arrived the same time as us. It didn't seem to cause a problem for the kitchen or waitresses, although they could do with lightening up a bit, very polite and efficient but didn't seem very happy. The restaurant decor is subtle & tasteful and there's a nice lounge bar for aperitifs & coffee etc We will definitely be going back again next time.
