A lovely tea room with excellent attentive staff with very good memories as welcome and greet visitors from all over the country on holiday that revisited Coasters. Make their customers very welcome new and old from previous summers they recognise on entry. Great coffee and very good food with selection to suit everyone. Wishing you all the very best, you deserve it.

Fantastic homemade scones served with delicious jam and a very generous portion of clotted cream. Perfect with a large teapot of tea. The lady who served us confirmed that she had made and baked the scones herself.

Cream tea was just perfect. We were very impressed with the homemade scones. The tea (Yorkshire) was spot on, in a tea pot and very hot. The inside is very basic and I would love the owners to make it a bit more Cosy and loved and better decorated as it could be a little gem (tape on the floor and felt like just a basic cafe rather then a cream tea experience.

Coasters is only very slightly out of the way, close to the East end of the harbour. It doesn't have a sea view and the furniture is relatively basic, but it succeeds in what it is trying to achieve. Both food and service were good. Our dog was allowed inside. The cream tea was very good: warm fresh scones with a light crispy outside and soft inside. Carrot cake was quite good. A decent cup of tea - nothing special, but hot and refreshing. Service was very friendly and someone ran after us with something we had forgotten.

Ok, so it’s not the prettiest of Cornish tea rooms, but being set slightly back from the crowded streets it was a very pleasant, quiet pit stop. Kids toasted sandwiches where huge , as were the Newlyn crab sandwiches - all delicious. Probably not a ‘destination’ tea room, but perfectly fine for a sandwich and a brew. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.

Very dirty dining area, despite having an ‘aged’ 5* Food Hygiene rating in the window. The cobwebs on the walls must have been there for 6 months+ to be that size. Hot chocolate/coffee stains down the legs of the bar stools. Filthy skirting boards. Rusting fittings on the railings. There were more damp patches than a Cornish summer - mostly with peeling paintwork and plaster. In simplified terms, the menu was either a £13 crab sandwich or something with cheese - Tuna and cheese, cheese and pickle, goats cheese and onion. I thought about getting a coffee but I don’t trust anywhere that spells Espresso with an X. I just settled for a £2.70 small Coke whilst the rest of the family ate lunch.

Came across this little place by chance. What a bit of luck. Four of us (adults) had four cream teas. All delicious. Two fluffy, fresh scones each, pot of good jam and pot of thick clotted cream each. Huge pot of tea. One of the best cream teas we've all had for ages. Clean, tidy, quick service, friendly waitress. Reasonably priced too.

As has been said, this is a wonderful find, being a sweet little cafe away from the throngs but with high quality food. The crab sandwich was indeed exceptional (see photo) in that the bread was some four inches thick and delicious. Friendly staff and we also bought a lovely little plate from the selection of reasonably priced pottery also on sale. Highly recommended.

We popped in yesterday with our two children, one in a pushchair so we were very conscious of where we sat and watched our for other people coming in so we could move out of the way. It was late afternoon and very quiet in the cafe anyway so all was fine space wise. Our daughter is 4 and is well behaved so wasn’t causing trouble. We went to order drinks and the woman behind the counter was literally the most unwelcoming person I’ve ever dealt with as a customer. She was abrupt, rude and didn’t smile or use any manners or showed any signs of any people skills once. We felt so uncomfortable that we finished our drinks as fast as we could and left. I really wouldn’t recommend using this service at all. If you don’t want to deal with customers or be nice and kind then don’t work in a cafe...

Dreadful customer service that detracted from food that was actually better than ok. Abrupt, surly, miserable waitress all but threw our order onto our table without a hint of pleasantness. After a lovely walk around St. Ives we stumbled across this tea room. We sat round the back as we needed more room for the buggy. It was clean enough, but decor needed work - there was a large damp patch. Toilets were not the cleanest. My daughter had the cherry bakewell cake, which she seemed to enjoy, but we had the cream tea and the scones were very dry. Small portions of cream and jam did not help to improve them. This is one of our regular haunts during our annual summer holiday and we were pleasantly surprised to find it open today (30 December) as we understood the owner was not opening at Xmas/New Year. However, there the pleasure ended! Having gone to the counter to order our food, as is required, I was then totally ignored by the woman serving there - it was a couple of minutes of her preparing cream teas and drinks for other customers who were seated before she even spoke to me and then only to say 'I'll be with you in a minute', which turned into several minutes whilst she prepared and delivered several orders to other tables. The last straw came when another lady approached the counter to pay and she was going to take her money and still had not taken our order so we just walked out - I am not being treated as if i don't exist and surely it would have been easier to just take my order (a matter of 30 seconds or less) than leave me standing at the counter like an idiot! Totally disgusted by the (lack of) service and not sure we will return now, although this was previously one of our favourite tea rooms in St Ives.

This little place should have a lot going for it - good location, excellent tea and coffee and a good menu BUT... The guy behind the counter eagerly greeted his mate despite the fact that there were people waiting to be served and the place seems to be a hub for redistributing kids after the school run. It would be appreciated if said children were less interested in my shopping as well. They wandered back and forth to the street and the rear of the café which is not appreciated by guests. Professional consideration of customers is required here and the use of the Café as a "school home time" clearing house is not what should be going on in a catering establishment. Staff from eastern Europe in town show much more customer awareness and there could be a few lessons to be taken on board. I can relate to the customer who wrote "Hot coffee with attitude",

Absolutely no problem with the cream tea, the scones, cream and jam were delicious. The decor is very light, and is quite funky. We sat in the back, but it was just so warm, and it wasn't sunny! Noticed the sign on the path along the seafront advertising Newlyn crab sandwiches, just the ticket. We have not visited this tea shop before, so having confirmed the freshness of the crab, my husband and I enjoyed a fantastic crab sandwich with granary bread. Although the crab was quite expensive, the fact that it contained both brown and white meat in generous portions and the bread was lovely and chunky, plus it was accompanied by a small side salad, made it worth every penny. The service was quick, the staff pleasant and not " hovering", the shop itself is very clean with attractive arrays of Cornish pottery and " seasidy" soft furnishings. Would recommend this eatery.

The signage has improved from to ugly monstrosity they previously had but the food and service was terrible. We visited when the owner was on-site, but as he was training this took priority over customer service. We were on the point of leaving when he finally turned up to take our order. We chose the homemade soup and after another long wait the first thing he did on bringing the soup was apologise for how thick it was and said it must have thickened as he'd gotten towards the bottom. I'm not sure how old this made the soup so perhaps he shouldn't have served it. Four days later we walked passed and saw someone sitting in the window with what looked like an identical bowl of soup.I don't think you need the local radio station playing either. We won't be going back a third time.

My partner and I popped in for a afternoon cream tea. The atmosphere of the cafe was warm and friendly. It was designed beautifully and the staff where welcoming. We had a cream tea each which was lovely.

Popped in for a cream tea, the service was friendly, and the scones were light and delicious. Slightly off the beaten track, so not too crowded either.

Me & my family visited St Ives by train & on the walk towards the harbour came across a sign for Coasters, which is a very short walk down a side street to the cafe. The food was excellent, so was the service & the sun lounge section of the cafe (indoors but that's best in St Ives due to very bold seagulls!), a really good idea which helped add to the good atmosphere & kick off another decent visit to St Ives, if you are coming to St Ives this place is worth checking out

When you want peace and quiet away from the madding crowd, off the beaten track, then Coasters will suit just fine. Very clean and welcoming. Whether it be a cream tea or afternoon tea you will be pleased with your find. Well worth a visit. Will return on our next trip to St Ives.

Found this place just off the main hub of St Ives. Really good food and really generous portions. And helpful staff too.

We booked afternoon tea for family celebrations. Afternoon tea was presented beautifully and was delicious. Our waitress Pinka was friendly and looked after us. The special offer was a bonus too. Highly recommended!

Beautiful building. Amanda the barmaid/waitress was very helpful and friendly. My family had the ham egg and chips, which was outstanding. I had fish and chips, the fish was delicious and fresh. The puddings were sinful and beautifully made.

Went for a coffee and was told could only have take away as it was 15:40 on a Sunday, my wife and I are both disabled and I have an ostomy and asked to use the loo and was told I could only if I buy something, so it cost me 7 quid for two takeaway coffees just to use the loo....thanks national trust

We stopped for an ice cream while on the search for our car keys which we lost on the beach!! 🤦🏽♀️ The rum and raisin ice cream was AMAZING and no complaints from the kids and hubby with their choices! The lovely gent who served us got his wife Zara to help us with locating the keys which luckily where found and left at the RLNI across but was closed, she managed to find someone who got the keys So thank you so much for your help lovely people and for the ice creams! 🥰 wishing you all the best x
