Myself and my other half decided to go for a breakfast at this location, I’ve eaten here before but many years ago and I recall what an amazing breakfast I’d had before. I wondered if it was still as good? Well let’s find out. We went on a week day Friday, it was busy which was a surprise but maybe a really good sign. The menu was a really good selection of foods and the breakfast was extensive. We both decided we would go for the big costal breakfast which cost about £13.00 each. I know some might think this is a little overpriced but it was the BIG breakfast after all and besides I was really hungry 😊. My choice of drink was the Latte. A favourite for me so I’m well versed on good and bad lattes as they say. Well this one was I have to say one of the best I’ve had. A real joy to drink and very much enjoyed. Ordering was done at the food bar so no table service for us, but it was ok. Now I know your thinking get on with the review of the breakfast Andy! Ok ok. As you can see if the picture. It was a big breakfast. The quality of the sausages and bacon was just as good as I remembered and cooked perfectly. I went for the fried egg as I know a lot of the time places overcook and burn these but not coastal coffee. Cooked lovely just as I like it, runny. I also went for the fried potatoes which again can be hit and miss but not these ones. They were perfect, Not over or under cooked. My other half orders slightly different to me which I managed to order wrong ! Put it down to age lol. What she wanted was not what she got, as for some reason I ordered her fried egg and bubble and squeak. This made the breakfast a huge breakfast. To be honest I’m not a fan of the bubble and squeak but lucky enough, my partner was lol so I managed to get away with ordering the wrong food. She did say that it was really good and in fact the best bubble and squeak she has ever had so if you a fan that would be a good selection for you. The tables were good quality and chairs seemed comfortable too. I think the only negative comment is that due to it being so busy it was noisy, but a busy place indicates a popular one so beggars can’t be choosers as they say. If you want a cracking breakfast and an amazing coffee then coastal coffees is the place for you. It was just as good as I had remembered it. Well done

We have been into this cafe before and always found the staff pleasant and the coffee very good. However, on our recent visit we were sitting at a table next to some wood panelling. We were very disappointed with the filthy state of the paneling, all splashed with food, sauce and goodness knows what else. Whilst we were there we noticed that although the staff cleaned the tables they were not using any sanitised spray and going from table to table with the same cloth - spreading bacteria everywhere. After this experience we would be reluctant to go again

This is a busy cafe all female staff very young.. smart but some wearing shorts... not very attentive spent time chatting amongst themselves.. Food is nicely cooked but sparse... mum had eggs Royale no extra side salad just two little.dots.of food on a massive plate I had poached eggs on toast... a tea for two over 20 quid... not value for money.

Always busy which goes to show how good the food and coffee are. Super fast service from the team and excellent food.

I found my lunch of Liver, Bacon & Onions delicious, generous and hot, special offer of glass of wine for £1.50 fantastic 😋

After 20 years in catering earlier in my life I recognise good food even a breakfast and the “big breakfast” I was served here today was the best breakfast I can remember eating. Excellent and nothing I can fault.

Walked in and wasn’t even looked at, sat down and chose what we wanted within a few minutes, but after 15 minutes still hadn’t been looked at by the 3 female staff that were working, thought we would give them the benefit of the doubt, even though the cafe was half empty, but still, another 5 minutes and still nothing! One girl on her phone, one just stood behind the counter doing nothing and the sour faced older lady just walking up and down doing nothing either. We had enough of waiting and the blatant rudeness so left, chose the delightful BlueBird cafe in Ferring instead (highly recommend). Just awful non existent service. No eye contact from walking in, to leaving. They didn’t even bother looking up when we got up to leave. Would never step foot in this place again. Definitely need to offer customer service training!

Great food, great service and a pleasant atmosphere. The menu is extensive and there is a variety of seating - sofas, tables or bar stools.

Vist on a quiet bank holiday Monday. Not many in. Ordered X4 Sandwiches and some drinks. Took 45 minuites for the xanwiches to arrive and they were wrong so sent them back, another 10 minuites and they came back wrong again, could not wait again. Very expensive for a quiet village with the Breakfast at 12 quid??

I love this drive-thru. Great coffee Early opening too. Today I went after an early morning trip to the vets - It was my cats 1st visit - I think she was impressed too 😉 (fast service)

I love their coffee it really is the best coffee you can get in the area. I often visit the drive thru in Rustington which is great! Always lovely service and perfect coffee.

In these difficult times it is great news that this wonderful independent coffee shop has remained open. It still provides excellent food and beverages, along with a friendly smile. The team are wonderful and support any special requirements I have asked of them. Covid-19 guidelines are followed to protect staff and customer. I can also say that the Coastal Coffee Drive-thru also remains open and provides an excellent service and good quality food. Thank you Coastal Coffee you are a great support to our community and beyond.

Zero atmosphere, not even a hello, a goodbye or a thank you from staff as we arrived or left. Ordered avocado on toast which was bland at best, not seasoned in the slightest. Drinks were brought to us, dropped down on the table on the tray and left, not a word was spoken. Wouldn’t go back.

My partner and I have a coffee almost every day from here and it's amazing. However, we thought we would treat ourselves to food one Saturday and I personally do not feel 8 pieces of calamari was worth £6.50!! Rating 5 for coffee but 3 for food.

We have many times had breakfast delivered from Coastal and always excellent. Fresh, tasty, piping hot and quality ingredients. Very happy, thank you 😊

Having cooked in a similar establishment myself these guys were a well oiled machine especially under new conditions, busy cafe but orders taken quickly and efficiently catering all ages, flexible when asking to make changes, lovely coffee, hot food without a long wait, great portion sizes, cannot fault, does what it says on the tin and some.

Another restaurant that has been missed, the only way to start the day on a coastal big breakfast and coffee. Delicious food served piping hot with great service. A return visit a must.

A great place to go for breakfast, lunch, drinks or cake.I livdd Ed the bacon and mushroom sandwich or the Coastal wrap. The team are happy make your selection just right - so crispy bacon and no butter just hits the spot for me every time.

Visited the Drive Thru and ordered a couple of coffees, a smoothie and a toastie. I tend to go through the drive thru quite a lot and always been very pleased. However today I was served by a middle aged lady with dark hair, she was very rude and abrupt, not quite sure why. Our coffees were just normal white coffee instead of a cappuccino. Could of made a better one at home. On the plus side I have found a new coffee house called ‘Harriets’ also in Rustington funnily enough next door to your main Cafe in the Village. Highly recommend that place and its proper coffee too.

This wonderful cafe re-opened today for takeaways. It was as good to see the friendly helpful team back in their usual places. A great bacon sandwich and iced coffee (as always) Thank you for cheering me up.

We stopped off here on our way to Littlehampton yesterday and we were not disappointed. The staff were were very helpful and the food came out quickly. We had tea, coffee and a cheese burger each, this would not normally be our first choice but boy were they good delicious. We have marked this place down as a good stopping place to eat.

In response to some of the reviews I’ve read. Breakfast very good,clean and tasty.Being a builder I eat in a lot of cafes.Maybe at £10 a little more expensive than similar standard cafe.Found staff friendly. Wouldn’t eat elsewhere in rustington

I won't be returning to this place due to the surly attitude of one of the staff. We had been given our food but had to wait for drinks. People whom arrived after us were served their drinks before us and when I beckoned to the female staff that we were waiting for our drinks her reply was " I've only got one pair of hands". Not the sort of attitude to expect as they weren;t that busy and it is a popular place. Won;t be visiting again in a hurry

Had the large breakfast, it is amazing!!! Great choice of extras and eggs and potato options. Cooked amazingly and tasted great. One of the best breakfasts I have had and staff were friendly and a nice little atmosphere with comfortable seating booths! Thank you!

Popped in with a friend for coffee and cake, both were excellent but we both thought the staff were miserable and surly. Shame as it’s a nice venue but there are other cafes locally where you get a much better welcome and service.

Just popped in here for a nibble and coffee, looked at the menu and couldn't believe the prices, breakfast nearly a tenner and nearly a fiver just for a bacon or sausage sandwich, thought it might have been something special for that price but no, basic sandwich. This place really needs to take a look at their prices.

This used to be a nice little place, but they’ve crammed so many tables in you can’t walk in, let alone get a buggy through (so parents forget it) staff used to be happy but now are brash. Also website info is incorrect e.g. opening times are wrong. Such a shame we won’t be back (we were regulars)

Originally went in for a tea & cake but decided to have the Club steak sandwich instead. This comes with 3 slices of bread, chips and a small side salad (somewhat sloppy and watery). On a hot day when you don’t feel very hungry, this was a silly option to go for. The cakes looked way more interesting. Prices are not cheap but on another day and opting for a cake instead, I would, I think, have had a much more positive experience.

Perhaps you can get a nice lunch there but I definitely wouldn’t recommend the breakfast menu. Basically hotel prices for an average standard of food and far from jolly staff. I kind of sensed that it wasn’t a happy place to work but maybe it was just an off day.

Went for breakfast. Maybe the smallest English breakfast I have been served although was very tasty. At £10 for a small breakfast it’s not cheap but was tasty and good quality. You only get very average filter coffee for that price, that is poor to me. Asked for 2 pieces of bread for the kids and they wanted £2. Will leave that up to you to judge. Management seem a bit mean to me. Like it that they try and source locally.

Very good service. But the meal deal was awful. only Ham and Cheese Toastie and Bacon and chicken sandwich not good for vegatarians so no choice. Removed the ham from the Toastie. Other offer a salad....

A great spot in Rustington to get a coffee or iced drink. Really nice quality ingredients, served in a cosy atmosphere.

I have visited a few times as do like to visit small businesses rather just going to the larger branded cafes. I enjoy the coffee and the food I have had has been nice too but it’s frustrating that they grind their coffee beans right by the coffee machine and not out back in the kitchen as the coffee machine is right in the middle of the whole place and for the time they are grinding the beans you can’t even hear yourself talking let alone each other! I also think that for the price they charge it would be nicer to have table service instead of having to queue at the counter

We had a great full English that we thoroughly enjoyed It was a full plate of food that was tasty not greasy Tea & coffee flowed and so much toast

Took the kids to this dinner to have crepes and milkshakes. They really enjoyed their food, although the portions defeated them! Staff ok, but could be more attentive. Would recommend.

Probably will never visit again , petting dogs and then serving food is not my cup of tea. Good cup of coffee though.

this place has had a revamp all to the good. The atmosphere was great as was the service, We went for breakfast there was plenty of choice on the menu and cooked to perfection. Good coffee and free refills.

Neat place with a good short order menu (which you can flex) and choice of drinks. Use for breakfast; coffee; lunch or afternoon tea. Friendly staff reasonable prices. Been coming here regularly for years and it’s always good and always reliable. WiFi and a choice of newspapers They used to stop serving cooked food an hour or two before closing so watch out that you don’t cut it too fine if you want a hot meal.

The clue for this really is in th title. Got to Rustington after a long drive down from Sheffield and needed some breakfast. Got served the most perfect eggs Benedict I've ever had the pleasure to eat. Beautiful fresh free range eggs poached perfectly with an amazing hollandaise. Highly recommended. Will be back.

Love this place and the English breakfast is the best, always look forward to this when going back to the UK and a must visit on my first day back

Have been coming here for years and it is always consistent. They serve good quality food, freshly prepared and you can definitely taste the difference. Always clean and tidy which is impressive as they are pretty much always busy. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Could do with some home made cakes as the mass produced ones to me are abit artificial.

I visited this place years ago, but have recently come back to try for lunch. I was really impressed. There was plenty to choose from on the menu. I had the Liver and Bacon which was delicious, as well as coffee (really good) and coffee cake. My grandmother had a tuna salad which was huge, and came with two slices of home made bread. I’m surprised people are saying this place is expensive. Most mains are around the £8/9 mark, which is hard to find these days! I’d definitely come back here, lovely little place.

Always good value for money and freshly cooked food, the bubble and squeak is amazing! Have visited many times, it’s always clean, with a vibrant atmosphere, jolly staff and excellent food.

Have been going to this cafe for many years and always rated it highly. Went a couple of days ago and noticed prices have definitely risen and size of portions shrunk. Tuna mayo sandwich was very small and came with a nasty oily blob of salad which consisted of some coleslaw,grated carrot(a constituent of the coleslaw!) and 1 slice of cucumber, no lettuce, no tomato. I think you can see this on a previous reviewers photo.These days it seems a lot of places are cutting portions and raising prices and as incomes are flatlining you have to vote with your feet and not return.

This is the best place by far to start the day. Always a warm welcome from the staff. Very accessible and easy to get around. A great choice menu and the food is cooked to order and served piping hot. My friend is a strict vegetarian and coastal are always very helpful and gives great advice.

This cost me £6.35 what a total rip of didn't even get my mayo on what I asked for.the staff are also very unfriendly.this is the worse place to eat in rustington will never come here again.avoid as plenty of over great cafes in rustington.

Dropped in for breakfast recently, and was served a very good plate of food. A little on the expensive side compared too other local cafes, but still good.

Had a fab breakfast here this morning. Really busy little cafe but great food and a lovely atmosphere. Fab orange juice too!! I had a small breakfast and there was plenty of it. I was also able add extras on to it. Will be heading back there for sure

I’ve only ever had breakfast here and it’s always been really nice. In the summer you can sit outside if there’s room :-)

Popped in for breakfast with a friend I first met here ten years ago when the layout was different (pre fire closure and consequential refurbishment) and occasional music gigs were held here. Had the full English big breakfast which was all great and, with the toast, more than I could eat; the bubble & squeak was truly exceptional. Filter coffee was nothing special (but hey, it is just filter coffee) and would probably go with the tea option or a specialty coffee on a future visit instead. Yes, the tables are quite close together but it's a seemingly popular venue and for the breakfast/lunch/coffee or tea and cake market, shouldn't really be perceived as a problem. In good weather there is outside seating too at both the front and back. A local business with a keen interest in Littlehampton and surrounding areas worthy of customer support.

Fabulous breakfast definitely the best with bubble and squeak toast and marmalade and a nice mug of tea well needed after a busy night shift well done

Had lunch here. Whilst you get ample food for the price it tends to be rather greasy and repeats on you later on.

They say breakfast is the best meal of the day and this is the best place to have the full English. Always a very warm welcome and accessible. It gets busy so try and arrive early and there’s now a loyalty card for breakfast so a great excuse to have the best breakfast around. A return visit definitely.

My wife and I had breakfast here this morning, not bad, better than average.

we live in Rustington and we are very lucky to have lots of nice coffee shops and one of them is Coastal Coffee, its good because the coffee and food are always spot on. one of the other good things about Coastal Coffee is if you have a dog you can take them in with you, we tend to take the dog for a walk and call in for a coffee or food on the way home.

Had eggs Benedict Royale (yeah right). Salmon was bitter and metallic in taste, muffin was tuff and for that price, they should be embarrassed. Also had a latte that was burnt with skin on top (did not think it possible), and the cappuccino replacement was...

How truly amazing to be able to take a dog into a cafe with out any issues... Coastal Coffee is so clean and tidy, service is very efficient, breakfast is delicious and they allow dogs too...brilliant.... love it and will always be our choice to come to when we are off together and fancy a breakfast in the village......

A regular haunt when I'm on the coast. Breakfast is awesome (all day long!). If you're there lunchtime it's breakfast and a beer....Good value, good service, lovely atmosphere.

I ordered a sausage sandwich and a bacon and egg roll which came to £11:20!!!! Why so much you may wonder, as I asked for 2 glasses of tap water, which they charged me another £1.00 for. After waiting for 20 minutes (which time, I could of bought my own bread and sausages and made one myself) the food order was wrong with no egg. The bread was stale and crispy, then the miserable waitress came with my egg with shell in it. I know we're not on Gordon Ramsey's Hells Kitchen, but this is basic standards!! The food tasted horrendous and after we both felt ill.PLEASE don't go here, it's not worth it unless your loaded, got a lot of time on your hands and like cheap tasting food! DONT GO!

Stopped here twice now before work. Both times food was decent and was the coffee but blimey are the staff miserable or what? I know it's early but is it that hard to crack a smile? From the chef to the waitress. Customer service has definitely left the building here! Last time for me.

We visit frequently for coffee,the service and atmosphere is good. What I like is that they serve coffee in different size cups including small.

Very disappointing lunch today - long wait for our food even though the place wasn't busy. My husband had Liver and Bacon which was overlooked and as hard as boot leather! The Iced coffee was too watery although I had a nice pot of tea. Sorry but I very much doubt that we will visit again.

It's been a couple of years since I last visited - no particular reason, I just like visiting different places. As I was in Rustington, I called in for coffee and cake.The decor is fresh and relaxing and the staff were pleasant. It was fairly quiet when I visited and there was plenty of seating.My coffee and cake arrived very quickly - lovely coffee and my coffee cake was fresh and a generous portion - it was very nice but didn't have a distinctive coffee taste.Everywhere looked clean and fresh and I will probably visit again soon.

Popped in for a bite to eat on a Sunday lunchtime. It was pleasant and cool (on a very hot day).Staff were friendly and food was delicious.Glad to come back again

This is a must for a great breakfast or food at anytime. Always a very warm welcome and always fantastic food served hot and cooked to order. This can get busy as this is a place that the locals use. Great atmosphere and always buzzing great place to people watch.

Tea cake had cinnamon flavour, yummy! Clean and tidy interior.High chairs available but not too much room for wheel or pushchairs.Menu looked ok, though we didn't eat main meals.Didn't use the toilets so can't comment.Free parking behind the cafe for three hours.

We often go for a coffee, cake and relaxing chat, or sometimes meet friends there for breakfast. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and the service is always quick. If you order filter coffee you can ask for a free refill, which is always given with a smile.

A well-run, noisy, family-friendly café which is always busy. Food is varied and perfectly pleasant, with lots of options for all tastes. There's always music, the ambience is good, no-one hurries you, there are complimentary newspapers...what's not to like!

Very popular with local people and shop and office workers and so can be very busy at lunch times. Nevertheless the staff cope well and tirelessly serve good cafe food and beverages. Recommended for snacks and more substantial meals that are served piping hot, not with a great deal of elan, but good value.

I met a new friend in here on my visit to Rustington and was pleasantly surprised, the cafe was very busy, the staff were pleasant and the food looked good, though we only had coffees. The look of the cafe inside & out were very encouraging.

An extremely friendly little place. Came here with a family member and had a pleasant visit. Owners very nice and cheerful. Place was clean and tidy. Not too busy. It was a little noisy but it was the coffee machine which you'd expect. Great value for money. Looking forward to bringing the kids for dinner soon with their current after school offer :D

We visited costal coffee on Saturday morning for a birthday breakfast. The service was a refreshing delight to other establishments. The staff apologised for keeping us waiting for a few seconds whilst the finished something.Our order came out slightly wrong but this was rectified swiftly and a great big thanks to the member of your staff who did not make a fuss over this.The large breakfast was Wonderful and everything was served hot and fresh. We will definitely be back to try something else of the menu.all of the members of staff were friendly and polite and we would like to say a big thank you to them as the atmosphere of the place is so vibrant and positive as a result.

Enjoyed a tasty and hot eggs benedict , followed by a delicious and very generous slice of carrot cake. Staff were genuinely friendly and it was comfortably busy . Would recommend and will definitely return .

The food here is lovely and fresh - I had chicken Cajun salad which was delicious. My daughter had chicken nuggets and chips - not the standard nuggets but really good quality ones.Everything was super clean and food served quickly.My only criticism was that staff were slightly grumpy. I'm not convinced they have this aspect quite right but otherwise its great.

Have been here for breakfast quite a few times and each time the food has always been hot and very well presented. If you have the filter coffee, which is lovely, you get free top ups. They also serve a good range of home cooked dishes as well as a lovely assortment of cakes. The only down side is, is they are so popular it's always busy and sometimes you can't get a seat. The staff are always cheerful and more than happy to ensure all customers are looked after.

Just to say when I met a friend for coffee how lovely and what good quality the coffee was .although busy the staff were friendly and the time we had to wait wasn't to bad.

Coastal coffee at 'Out of Bounds' indoor play is superb. We have also used this Coastal Coffee in Rustington High Street numerous times prior to it being closed for several months after fire damage. We had always been really impressed.There is a Costa Coffee on the High Street but I prefer to support a local independent coffee shop.On arrival, we stood in a que of three people waiting to place our order. There was no one behind the counter and there seemed to be just one member of staff serving food and making coffee. She eventually appeared from the kitchen to take orders.We ordered two coffees, my wife also ordered a round of toast and I ordered an almond croissant. We were told to take a seat and it would be brought to us. After a few moments, the toast arrived from the kitchen but there was no sign of the coffee or croissant. We could see the lady behind the counter re-arranging some cakes - there was no one else waiting to be served.After my wife was halfway through her toast, the coffee eventually arrived but the lady brought a regular croissant not an almond one. She took this away and returned with an almond croissant but it had clearly been put in a microwave and was piping hot and horribly soft due to the microwave. Normally I have these cold and had not requested it be heated.Fortunately the coffee was superb but sadly that was the only positive.Basic customer service would have made a real difference - we didn't feel welcome as customers. It doesn't take much - a smile, a hello, a goodbye would have made a big difference.Maybe they were short staffed that day, maybe she was just having a bad day - I won't write off going there again just yet but disappointing visit there after waiting so long for it to be re-opened after the fire repairs.

Went for a coffee today, bank holiday Sunday. The place was busy - the staff were running around in a completely disorganised fashion, people were waiting ages for their order.However, their food hygiene practices were appalling. The hand wash sink behind the servery was being used for washing up. When I commented about it I was told it was a washing up sink - the sink was the size of a dinner plate. So it could not have been a washing up sink. Surely used crockery should go through a high temperature dishwasher cycle? The tea towel being used looked dirty. Tables were cleared holding onto tops of cups. The next minute the same people were handling tops of clean cups having not washed their hands. The top of my coffee cup was handled so many times that I decided it was time to leave. I will not go back there again.

Went for breakfast this morning at the newly refurbished (following a fire) Coastal Coffee. The quality of the cooked breakfast was extremely good and was such good value for money. The waiting staff were friendly too. They have a notice advertising the fact that they use local produce wherever possible. Will definitely visit again.
