Coast Coffee in Christchurch

Stopped in Coast prior to a funeral at the Priory. I cannot fault anything. The tea was superb as was my bagel. A credit to the area and you should be proud.

Well, what a find? Excellent cafe, very accommodating for a bunch of awkward customers!! Whilst visiting Christchurch was 'local' family, we were shunned from several eateries in the town for daring to want to keep our dog with us! In desperation I wearily asked if this establishment was dog-friendly - boy, was it! We were not the only ones with a four-legged friend under the table. We ordered meals 'not on the menu' and nothing was too much trouble - what a fantastic attitude from all the staff, even when one meal served was 'wrong', (not their fault but mine for not reading the menu correctly) the correct alternative was swiftly produced at no extra cost - even though the original meal was prepared (hopefully not wasted). Full marks to the chef for not 'tutting' and he simply prepared another meal for my awkward family-member! My only suggestion to the owners would be to have more 'family-size' tables as we had to re-arrange the tables and chairs to suit our group.

Poor service the two coffees still not with us waiting now for 20 minutes while the owner is sat enjoying his coffee. Shame such a nice place.

Coast coffee shop, Christchurch great coffee shop, good atmosphere, fantastic warmed Dorset Apple cake, first for me!, generous filling in sandwich and lip smacking millionaire shortbread. Staff smiling and helpful 10/10

The coffee was great and the staff were nice and it has a cool feeling about it. Very hot inside though. My friend was told there was only a hint of mustard in the rarebit, not the case. My Caesar salad looked beautiful but had no dressing at all. With the parmesan cheese it was so dry I couldn't eat it. We were also being buzzed by little flies like fruit flies. That may not be their fault though, but I lost my appetite so didn't ask for dressing and it could have been an oversight. It's a very busy place. The coffee was delicious and very strong. I would definitely go back for the coffee.

Wonderful friendly efficient staff. Dog friendly offered a fresh bowl of water for dog. Ate pancakes and bacon which was a decent size serving and good price with a tasty bad hand coffee. Gave me energy for my return journey.

We have been weekly customers of Coast for years but today will be our last visit. We ordered simple snacks and waited ages for it to be served. After reminders and nothing we eventually asked for a refund and left. I was told they were busy, well we have been there many times when they have been as busy but never experienced anything like today which appeared chaos. If you can't cope you should restrict the number of customers to a level you can cope with and then loyal customers do not get disappointed.

So won't serve a sandwich at 1435 on a Sunday? Stopped serving food. Thankfully costa and cafe nero provide this service so we went to neros. They can't wait to get out of the door try this place any where after 3 and you get scowled at.

I am Italian and for me, espresso coffee is very important, I have been in this place with my son and my wife, and we had two espressos and one cortado, well in the last ten years never i had an espresso made so bad and the same for a cortado . A few days after I met some Italians and i told them about my experience at Coast Coffee, and they had the same problem. So if I want an espresso to avoid Coast Coffee

Delicious breakfast at this local cafe in the heart of Christchurch. Couldn’t fault it. There were lots of sweet treats available too which looked delicious but unfortunately we didn’t get chance to try

What a lovely cafe, the staff were very friendly, the service was great and the gourmet sandwiches were excellent, lovely fresh granary bread lots of delicious filled and nicely presented, couldn't fault our visit.

Always a great place to stop for coffee cake or lunch always friendly good standard plus clean and very good service The cakes are always delicious as was the soup which was mushroom homemade The sandwiches come along with coleslaw also very nice

Having dropped into Christchurch as part of our 7 night caravan stay nearby, we looked for somewhere to grab a bite for lunch. Thee are lots of places to chose from but we dropped in here. A delightful little coffee bar/cafe with great quality food at reasonable prices for the area. I had The Scottish on brown bread with a pot of tea and the wife had The Sizzling Sausage also on brown with a Diet Coke. The bread was fresh, light and tasty as was the cream cheese and Salmon. Creamy coleslaw on the side was also very tasty. The wife thoroughly enjoyed her sizzling sausage of which there was plenty in the sandwich. A good two and a half cups of tea from my pot satisfied my thirst perfectly. Staff were very polite, well presented and friendly. Couldn’t be more helpful. Various seating options from a comfy couch to high top tables. Despite the seating we didn’t feel crowded at all. Though we stayed away from the cakes , there was a gods display of delicious looking cake to go with a coffee if your not having lunch. All in all we were more than happy with our little lunch stop. Very accommodating staff and brought us what we needed for when asked for it. Food was extremely tasty as well. Would highly recommend.

The first visit months back didn't go well as it was very evident the knife etc used to prepare it hadn't been cleaned from whatever they had been used for previously. I was given a free coffee as compensation. So today I went in to claim my free coffee and ordered a sandwich. It was easily the meanest tuna sandwich I have ever been served. There was very little filling, more mayo than tuna, and what there was was confined to the middle of the sandwich with a big gap around the edges. Safe to say there won't be a third visit to this Coast.

Every time we visit the Team are super friendly, even though they are always busy, the new fresh range of cakes and bagels are always appreciated, the new coffee range from Bad Hand, brings this small vibrant cafe up to another level. A Big 5 *

We visited for a quick brunch. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was nice and the food - a sausage baguette and avocado on toast - were excellent. Great value too.

Was excited to come here for the coffee as love bad hand coffee. Food was lovely but the coffee was bitter and milk over frothed. Can make a better coffee at home. I did see there was a young chap possibly about 15 who was on the coffee merchine. He was lovely but obviously needs training. If you are going to sell good coffee then you need to do it properly. You are giving the brand a bad name. Food really lovely although a bit overpriced but I guess it's in a good location. Nice people and atmosphere.

Since a review of a few days ago,perhaps an unfair view of new staff. Now back to it's usual GOOD service with a smile and a wider range of pastries and cakes available. Glad things are on the up and we still will be regular customers,unless barred!

As well as the coffee/snacks.meals etc the staff are a great asset with the good ,pleasant service. As we are regulars over several years,that explains a lot.

We called in for some lovely coffees and, having failed to find anywhere that looked a better bet, returned for a late lunch.We both found the Welsh rarebit so tasty as we sat in the window looking out on lovely Christchurch High Street. A toasted tea cake was also very nice.All in all a highlight of our day in Christchurch.

there are a number of coffee shops in Christchurch and I am pleased we chose this one, an inventive menu (I had the welsh rarebit which was superb) with excellent cakes (we took 2 pieces away which were large enough for 2 days) and competatively priced drinks made it an excellent experience.

Great fresh food choices, attentive staff, fast and efficient, definitely worth a visit, for locals and visitors.

Just paid £10 for what was in effect some pre cooked pancakes that were then nuked in the microwave to the point where you couldn’t get the knife through them. Some scotch pancakes for 79p from the supermarket would have tasted better. Looked like it would be a lovely place to visit but certainly won’t be returning.

We stopped in Christchurch to break our journey looking for somewhere to get a cup of tea and coffee.It was market day and a lot of cafes looked busy, this caught our eye as being the most appealing. Great choice, the 2 pieces of cake we had with our drinks were delicious.Very friendly staff.

Called in on the off chance, certainly made the correct choice. Coffee good and food good, staff very helpful and will call in again when back in the area.

Not knowing Christchurch I think we stopped at the right place. One Coast Club Sandwich and one Welsh Rarebit, two milkshakes. Just perfect 👌

Pleasant place to spend some time, coffee and cake great. My only gripe and it's not really a complaint is that we ended up clearing away crockery etc on our table and noticed that one or two other punters had to do the same. Although that seems par for the course at many places in my humble experience. Would definitely return though.

Popped into this cafe one Monday morning after walking around the street market. My granddaughter and i chose to eat the pancakes, i had them with maple syrup and. bacon, and my granddaughter had banana and chocolate. We both found them delicious,fresh, hot, lovely presentation, and very good value. we would definitely recommend a vist. if you are in Christchurch, and we will definetly be going back for more!

Only had two cups of macchiato and a slice of Dorset Apple Cake, but very impressive. Very good cafe, and a slice of cake big enough for two. Informal atmosphere, and very friendly. Well worth a visit.

Why is everyone smiling? First time in Christchurch. Parked up and walked to the Main Street. Went past the chains (Costa Nero ) and carried on to the far end where Coast is. This is a gem. Great nutty coffee, Welsh rarebit with good herb content and importantly at this time of year fresh buttery mince pies. Oh and the service was as good to top it off. Would definitely come back.

I live locally, so I sometimes visit here with my friends. But, one day I tried their homemade Blueberry Yoghult flapjack. It was amazing!! It was absolutely mind blowing.I have never taste anything like it. !! I thought, I have to write a review .Just Awesome.!!

Our hotel charged extra for breakfast so we went out for it instead. Great to find somewhere with non-cooked choices too. Excellent croissants and shortbread, also the capuccinos.

Have visited Coast Coffee regularly over the last year, the food is always good, its not often that I have a favourite, the goats cheese and onion marmalade panini for me and tge brie and bacon for my partner. The service is good, likewise the coffee. Have had breakfast too, which was also good.

We went to Coast for lunch one Sunday in August. This is a friendly cafe in the heart of Christchurch that has a wide ranging menu. The food was good although the portion sizes were not that large and we were still a bit hungry after eating. There are a reasonable number of tables but it was noticeable that they were not cleaned well so customers were having to clean them themselves. Also, there is only one toilet so there was often a queue.

Stopped for a lunch snack after a walk around the quay and town. Ordered tea and a sausage sandwich. Proper pot of PG Tips tea with china cups and an excellent sandwich. Nice place and worth a visit. Good selection of cakes as well.

Located on the main high street in Christchurch, this little gem of a place is right in the middle of everything! Thier coffee is some of the best around and the relaxed setting is a great stop off for anyone doing anything. The friendly staff on hand compliment the lively setting. With tables outside to comfy armchairs inside, it really is the place to relax and unwind. The food looked amazing and everything was at very reasonable prices - they even have a loyalty club! There are plenty of car parks within minutes walk and a regular bus service along with a taxi rank very close so theres no excuse getting to this place! Would highly recommend and can say with confidence it's the best coffee in Christchurch!

This cafe was just below where we were staying for a few days so good to have it do near. I had the Welsh rarebit twice (the regular one) which was very tasty and can recommend. Staff very friendly and helpful - very busy Sunday lunchtime!

Weekdays before 10, toasted tea cakes are free with any hot drink. Their bacon sandwich was incredibly generous with the bacon, coffee was good, tables clean and staff were excellent. There was even a help yourself water station with glasses and plastic beakers. Would definitely revisit.

We were gasping for a coffee and a snack and 'happened upon' Coast Coffee. We were delighted with our coffee's and snacks, toasted panini's mine with brie & cranberry, the other with goats cheese and onion marmalade - delicious. A great reviving experience and all served to you at your table. Staff friendly and efficient, would definitely recommend.

Lovely latte and americani, small pot of hot water as was without milk. Really fresh and clean, relaxed atmosphere. Served with purpose and brought to the table.

This delightful cafe serves perfect coffee and really nice carrot cake. There’s a step up into the place so wheelchair access tricky but there is outdoor seating. Great snacks and lovely serving staff. There is some nice relaxed armchair seating. Recommended.

An excellent cup of coffee, a beautiful piece of cake (apple and blackcurrant with yogurt topping flapjack) and efficient, friendly service. Perfect for a quick pit-stop, and so much nicer than the big national chains.

We all enjoyed lunch and I thought the cappuccino was well executed as well. It is fresh and modern inside and service good as well. Prices maybe a little high but would much rather frequent here than the large chains like Costa, which are not a bargain themselves

Went there with a friend today for lunch and the food was delicious! The service was fantastic, always with a smile! The decor was modern, fresh and definitely inviting! Highly recommended!

The place is fairly basic, but welcoming. Service was helpful and the food and drinks were delivered quite quickly. The Welsh Rarebit was delicious and served with a tasty salad. I would return when next visiting Christchurch.

So popular in fact that we couldn't get a seat inside, so sat at one of their two outside tables, which it being a mild morning, suited us just fine. We had a coffee and a tea, no food, and just watched the world go by whilst I learned about the town from my friend. Service to the table was prompt and courteous, and we saw many potential customers having to go elsewhere due to Coast being absolutely jam packed full. Popular for a reason! After 20 minutes or so we vacated our table for someone else, and went off to explore the town!

We went for coffee and cake Sunday afternoon and sat outside, 40 minutes later I could see people going in and coming out with take away drinks. I went to enquire about our coffees and asked if they had forgotten us and was told they were just doing the order and it was on its way. 10 minutes later my husband went in and they just did it. When it arrived I had asked for hot milk and it was cold. The assistant said she would go and get the hot milk, which I thought she would go in straight away get it and come back out. No! five minutes later my husband went in again and she was serving someone else! She said what would you like? she had forgotten again this time he waited for it. Not a very pleasant visit will try other café near by instead very disappointing. .

When Christchurch Priory recommend somewhere for coffee and cake it must be good, not disappointed, an answer to prayer

My Husband and friend called in for coffee and were not disappointed it was the same as last year, very welcome break on a cold day.

Busy little coffee shop, nice menu for lunch snacks. Coffee was good, sat outside because inside was very busy. Staff very friendly.

The Service here was fantastic, some of the best I have ever seen. The lattes were hot and delicious. The tea was scrumptious. We had an oat bar and muffin and enjoyed them both. The washroom was clean.

Decent food as usual cafe varieties, polite but not efficient speed of service. Needs better quality coffee...

Stopped in for drinks. Service was at counter but served at table. The hot chocolate was very special and the service great.

This is a lovely cafe in the high street. On a Monday before 10 you can get free tea cake with your coffee. Its clean and has a lovely atmosphere. Very welcoming and love the coast theme inside.

Have visted several times and it always seems to be popular. Nice simple decor, good service and great coffee. What's not to like? Had breakfast today and thought the bacon baguettes were top notch!

Made use of the free teacakes with a morning cuppa. Very busy, but they weren't phased by this, it's always full in there for a reason !

A simple early lunch, the Welsh Rarebit , a personal favourite when done well, was excellent . Generous “proper” topping on good base and salad garnish . Good service and ambiance .......we will be back , if we can get a table !

We were staying at a budget hotel that didn't do breakfast, and on a tuesday morning we were struggling to find somewhere open. This was a nice surprise, good breakfast menu, decent coffee, nice to have the option of porridge and honey, though the homebaked croissant was a bit supermarket. Pleasant surroundings, large space, nice staff.

Really friendly staff. Porridge was a great breakfast option and we even bought a painting, by a local artist, that was on display. Good value for money

Coast Coffee is our local coffee shop, it’s 100% perfect, excellent service, lovely friendly staff with lots of lovely eats to tempt you! Took my family with us this morning & they too were very impressed!

After a disappointing visit in May when it seemed like all the croissants were overdone we have had a very pleasant few visits. The coffee and croissants are back on form.

An independent family run coffee shop. Excellent coffee, cake, teacakes, paninis and sandwiches. Friendly staff nice atmosphere in the centre of town.

If you're looking for a great coffee then this is definitely the place to go, it was very good. Food though was average, sausages were tough with very chewy skin and clearly not particularly good quality in taste or appearance. Scrambled Eggs were okay but not great by any means. So, great for a coffee stop but can't really recommend the food based on our experience..

Visit Coast regularly (but still not regularly enough!) and can honestly say every visit is excellent. Staff happy and friendly, service is prompt and the cakes are delicious 👌🏻 I highly recommend!

Coast appears very popular at morning coffee time. However they have not put in too many tables and made it cramped for space. Service is efficient and friendly, and the coffee and cakes are good (and the early lunch snacks being enjoyed by others also looked good). Price was similar to most.

A nicely presented, open and welcoming cafe. Good variety of food and drinks - scrambled eggs, bacon roll and pancakes all fab. And I finally found a good cup of coffee....

Coffee great, but the bacon in a bacon sandwich is so thin, hardly worth having..... With thick bread, it just made it dry and unsatisfactory.

Had a iced late no fuss friendly and clean pleasant staff will come here again light music in the back ground out side seats facing south in the sun and lovely cakes 🍰

Lovely independent coffee shop- nice buzzy atmosphere and very clean. They will make the coffee exactly as you like- food looked great as well. Staff polite and helpful- so much better than the massive coffee chains with their bitter over priced coffee.

Warm and charming little coffee. The atmosphere is very nice and the waiters very attentive. A cool moment with my friends.

Lovely bright cafe with gentle background music... had pancakes with bananas and Nutella and a lovely chai latte. Very pleasant staff and the cafe was busy all the time I was there . Lovely menu with lots of choice and you can advise of any allergies or dislikes when ordering. Would definitely visit again thankyuy

This is a super place for a coffee and a snack. The bacon sandwich was terrific. It can get busy so be prepared. The service is slick and friendly. It’s on the High St and accessible easily from car parks. Very push chair friendly!

We wanted just a drink and after having a wander around Christchurch, saw how busy this café was and so went in. Great hot chocolate and coffee. My son enjoyed his baby chino. Great service- drinks brought to our table. Prices of drinks were good value. Despite being busy it had a lovely relaxing atmosphere .

We stopped at Coast for lunch. We both had sandwiches that were excellent quality, with delicious bread and loads of quality filling. The coffee was also excellent, at a good price. Staff were friendly and helpful. Altogether a most enjoyable experience, and we would thoroughly recommend.

Came here on a freezing day for lovely hot coffee and breakfast. The best scrambled egg on toast I have had out, so soft & tasty. He had a panini stuffed with bacon & other bits & left not a smear on the plate. We then had to have a portuguese tart for 'dessert'. Forget calories, its too good to count!

Nice atmosphere. Drink service was a little slow considering how quiet it was but that wouldn't stop me going back.

We chanced upon this coffee bar by chance and had a great lunch there. Freshly made egg mayo sandwiches and a roll fully of crispy bacon. There were also lots of delicious cakes. The staff were friendly, the place has a great atmosphere and the prices were much better than some other places along the high street. You should note that as everything is freshly made the service is not very quick, but once the food has been prepared it is brought to your table. We noted that before 1000 you get a free toasted teacake with your coffee! We were delighted with this lucky find before visiting the Red House Museum

Visited this cafe twice recently on holiday in Christchurch. The first visit was for a drink only but the second visit was for food. The premises were very clean and the staff we dealt with were very friendly and obliging

We are regular visitors to Coast and it never disappoints!! The paninis are always generously filled and I was so happy today to see they had chicken and chorizo back on their specials board! Good coffee and tea with lovely looking cakes - what more could you ask for? Reasonable prices too! The only problem is that sometimes we can't get a seat

It was pouring with rain in Christchurch and we wanted a drink and cake. The cafe we considered by the harbour had shut up shop at 3pm, and we found Coast coffee. It sold a good range of tasty cakes. The lemon and lime cake was fab. The service was good and the drinks were good too. We really enjoyed our cake stop off!
