Highly recommended. The servise here was warm and friendly I had the bacon and cheeseburger which I devoured and it was the first time ever that my family had actually left empty plates and I will definitely be going back because the beer was fresher than in my local. Great find absolute gem 👍🏻🍻

My friend and I were walking the Coast to Coast walk from S Bees to Robin Hoods Bay from charity. At a distance of 192 miles, it's no easy task. On our last day, June 4th, with approx 3 mies left and having found no where to get a bite to eat from breakfast, we stopped into the Coast Cafe to get something as we were starving. We arrived at 2.50pm and my friend asked for a cheese and bacon burger, he was met with the reply, sorry, the kitchen closes at 3.30 pm and we aren't serving food!!! We asked if we could have coffee, and thankfully, the answer was yes!! I saw 2 sausage rolls sitting and asked for them. The girl serving, who clearly had no interest and didn't want to be bothered, reached them across stone cold!° I asked if they could be heated?? I got a curt "i suppose so" and she stuck them in for 30 seconds, I tied it until it dinged!! They were bearly warmed, to be honest. At this stage we gave up, we were tired, having spent the last 13 days walking. The young girl needs a lesson in customer service big style!!! Sorry for the rant, but it certainly didn't leave a good impression!!!

Previous owners were brilliant and food and service fab. Went today in excited fashion for breakfast ready for opening at 0930 as shown at end of road and online. Rang at 0945 to see if all was OK for opening today after waiting outside. Got very short "we will change sign" response. Went in and was blanked by girl at bar. I asked if I could sit anywhere - I was the only one in - found a seat and was then ignored for 10 minutes whilst preparations continued - she was clearly waiting for me to come over so she could point at a small sign saying "order here" - there was no eye contact / smile / humility / attempt to engage. All that was needed was a smile and her pointing out what was needed. I decided to leave as if this is the front of office god know what the rest is like...a real shame. A real disappointment. Having said that the Penny Hedge was 5 minutes away and superb friendly welcome with a top breakfast.

! As regular customers of Coast Café, we knew that the first-ever French Gourmet evening would be really good but it surpassed all our expectations. It was absolutely brilliant. The setting, which is always, delightful, was given a special French feel with balloons in red, white and blue adorning the dining room, with French music playing subtly in the background and with French wine available at a very reasonable price. The meal was simply stunning and rivalled anything we have had in the many French restaurants we've sampled over the years. Chef Matt began the meal by describing how the various dishes had been prepared and this got the digestive juices well and truly ready for action. And then came the five courses: the French onion soup with Camembert croutons was a delicious opener, followed by a wonderful goat's cheese tart. We were then given a choice of moules marinière or a fillet of fish in a white wine sauce which was soon followed by the main course of confit de canard, all finished off with a traditional French dessert of tarte tatin. Each course was truly delicious and beautifully presented, the quantities were perfectly-judged and the service was excellent. Well done to Matt and Elaine and their colleagues for all the hard work that must have gone into preparing and serving this magnificent meal. It really could not have been a better way to spend a summer's evening (shame about the thunderstorms!).

We decided to stay and eat and I'm so pleased we did. Beautifully, freshly cooked food using local, good quality ingredients - and well presented too. The chef is clearly a really skilled and enthusiastic foodie. No fast food cheapie bulk purchase rubbish here! We've found a new regular place to eat, and can't wait to return to sample the evening menu. We walked back to Whitby afterwards along the stunning coastal path. Fab scenery, fab food, great venue run by lovely people. All in all - a perfect day. Coast Café Bar is a hidden gem, and well worth walking or driving out to.

This is a hidden gem and an absolute must! Beautifully presented, very, very clean. The cafe is family run and the environment is so welcoming! The food is amazing, we refuse to have breakfast anywhere else it's that good! Lovely for drinks in the evening also, pool table and outside garden area too. We cannot compliment enough!

We stumbled across this little gem whilst out walking for the day. It was beautifully clean, welcoming and tastefully furnished. Our regret was that we wern't hungry but the coffee and tea was excellent. If we are ever in this part of the world again we will certainly be calling in and giving the food a try as the hygeine standards usually reflect the standard of the food. Looking at the menus it seem to punch well above its weight.

Second time having breakfast at The Pines for me, third for my mum and brother with whom I come on holiday to lovely Filey. I can see how the local older folk love this little cafe but you don't have to be old to appreciate its charm or indeed a good, reasonably priced English breakfast. Malcolm is a great host with his cheeky banter!

We accidently discovered this cafe while hunting around Whitby for something more "homely". The staff were very accommodating for our party of 7. They ensured we got seated and looked after us all the step of the way. The food was plentiful, tasty, and very reasonably priced. There was a good selection that suited both adults and children. If you want to avoid the mass of marauding tourists and seaguls. Take a stroll up the hill to Stokers.

We stumbled across this place whilst wandering around the old town. It’s near the swing bridge on Grape Street Small menu so we tried most of it - everything we had was great. Loved the kimchi dumplings and the sushi. The bowl of delight which I forget the name of was delicious as was the sweet chilli chicken. All freshly cooked and tasty! We will return to try what we missed!! It was very reasonably priced, friendly service and can’t recommend enough.
