Ordered 2 rolls, ham salad and cheese and onion. Absolute rip off, £6.45 each for a small bap to take away. Definitely not good value for money, 5 bites and it was gone, this was supposed to be a lunch time meal ?? Would not recommend

Bit disappointing; got asked if we wanted fries or chunky chips, but we weren’t advised there was a price difference (nor did the menu state this). Scampi, chips and peas came to £9.95 and there were 6 pieces of scampi, no tartare sauce available nor even a lemon wedge when I asked.

Terrible, battered chicken wrap, it was stale, hardly any filling, there were just a few wilted leaves on the side, not the usual side salad standard, shame, I have always been impressed with he food here

We popped in to Coast on our travels this morning. Our son fancied a cooked breakfast and we were up this way having to do some post (Rhoose currently closed). Anyway, son and I went for the first breakfast on the menu. My wife, with the aid of a very friendly witress, designed an overly elaborate omelette (mushrooms, bacon, cheese, scheese and more cheese plus some other bits n bobs). All arrived fairly quickly and we struggled to get through the breakfasts, They looked like those flat earth maps (pretty big). Anyway, all delicious and real value for money. The omelette was a hit! If there is a minor grumble, the coffee could be better. Not sure if it's the maxchine generated stuff. Not a deal breaker though. It was drinkable.

Not a happy service for the younger generation visiting in the morning. The food was sub standard: What looked like microwaved bacon, Extremely fatty and not cooked to a good standard nor with care. The cup of tea I ordered wasn’t even a full mug, a little more water wouldn’t hurt, you pay for what you get I suppose. From a bygone stand point, there was one of the ladies behind the counter coughing while she was making brews and helping out back. I didn’t witness and cleaning of hands or other sanitary hygiene measures. Following the above point, you’d think covid-19 would have taught us all to be a little more carful and consider the standards appropriate for food service.

I truly loved this café. It served beautifully cooked food, excellent drinks, and delicious homemade chips. The staff were kind, the food arrived quickly, and me and my family enjoyed ourselves. Very good!

Dont come here if you want to be rushed and hasseled. However if you want the opposite it is an excellent place to visit.

Another visit to my fav cafe, whilst back home in Wales visiting Mum. I love the chilled out & laidback look and the "Workman's" breakfast is QUALITY LUSH and I completely clean my plate of eveything ;-) Gorgeous butcher's black pudding, rich tasting fried eggs to splatt over my toast and hash brown ..... yes I do ;-) Top nosh, complimented by top staff :-)

Had lunch here today. Out of the old town but a good find. We both had a Turkey, cranberry and stuffing Panini ( not particularly seasonal, but hey!), and it was fantastic. Packed with filling and hot which was good, served with salad, crisps and coleslaw it was good value for money. There is an extensive menu from all day breakfasts to lighter bites, cakes etc. Menu caters for Vegan, Vegetarian and gluten free options, all reasonably priced plus free WiFi, lots of dining space and comfy sofas if that's your preference. I'd recommend it

Tasty Food √ Good Value √ Warm and Friendly Staff √ When you're in an unfamiliar town and you are hungry look at where the locals go. The coast was packed to day but we waited as my mother loves the place. Finally we secured a table.... Thank goodness that we did. I had faggots, chips peas and a latte to wash it down. Latte was made well and presented well, comfortable seating and good sized tables ideal for families. After a short wait the food arrived, it was hot, steaming in fact and delicious. I've eaten all over the world and my visit to Coast today was up there with the best. Good Honest Awesome Food. Please keep serving the family favorites, I love this place.

During carefully planned RWC2015 tour. We took a recommendation to stop here for a full breakfast. Excellent service, food and Sunday morning atmosphere. Defo recommend!

I came here with my partner for breakfast. She had the coast breakfast and I ordered the workman's omelette. My partner enjoyed her breakfast and I loved the omelette. I must say, they represented excellent value for money. Add to this the warm welcome and friendly efficient service, and you have a recipe for success. I would recommend Coast vehemently.

I ordered the jacket potato with chilli and a latte. Latte was not a latte but a cappuccino, not the biggest deal but maybe train the barista. Potato dry, coleslaw boring, salad unimaginative, chilli cold and bland... looking at the other reviews it seems I just ordered the wrong thing.

On a repeat visit to The Coast Cafe in Llantwit Major, I had the unbeatably gorgeous Workman's Breakfast. Proper butchers black pudding best I've had.

Popped in for breakfast. Quaint little cafe with tables and chairs as well as couches and tables. You order at the counter and your food is brought to you. Staff were friendly and food was served quite quickly. 3 egg omelette with bacon and cheese served with a good portion of toasted potato rounds and a slice of toast was one of the nicest I have tasted. The classic breakfast was also a good portion with 1 egg, 2 bacon, toast, 1 sausage, baked beans and tomato. Well worth s visit even to just have a cup of something to drink and relax.

I went to Coast after a work trip (where I picked up some lovely Mothers Day gifts!!) - the food was amazing and when I was about a mile from home (I live in the Swansea Valleys!) I realised I'd left my lovely gifts there. After a message to the owner she promptly put them in the post and wouldn't accept any money for it. What I am trying to say is, not only the food was perfect but the service and care were second to none. Please visit this little haven in Llantwit!

Thought I would spend an hour or so around the shops before an arranged appointment in Llantwit. Bought some lovely things in the pharmacy and enjoyed looking around a lovely clothes shop and bought some groceries in the Coop. Everyone was very friendly and provided lovely service. Very disappointed when I went into Coast for a nice cuppa and was unable to buy one because at 3:30pm on a Saturday afternoon they had cashed up and therefore couldn’t change a £10 note. They wouldn’t accept my debit card as it came to less than £5! Hardly a nice welcome for people visiting Llantwit and patronising local shops and businesses. Puts you off returning. Thank goodness for Gregg’s!!

My husband and myself had a lovely breakfast here before going to watch wales Italy game on Sunday. Nice clean and friendly will call again.

Lovely cafe, very welcoming, very good value for money, nothing better than having a plate full of food l. Son has autism and they are very accommodating to his needs. Also kids love the little play area a massive hit. Definitely worth a visit

The Sunday Lunch is a bargain at under £7 per person to eat in, plus, for under £5 you can order it and take it away as well. We ordered ours there and it was Beef, the other choice was Turkey, but there was plenty of meat, and as we only ordered two meals; there was meat left over for our dog to eat. It was very tasty, and the meat was so easy to cut plus very tasty. We have decided to get a take a way now once a month.

My husband and I went here with our young daughter to meet friends and their children. It was child friendly with a great little play area to keep the kids entertained while the grown ups talked and drank good quality coffee and ate very well portioned, well cooked and reasonably priced food. The staff couldn't do enough for us and were really friendly and chatty.

After several disappointing meals out in llantwit we were happy to find coast bar! Service was great and the food was best I had in ages.

Why this is called the Coast Cafe is a little confusing. I nearly didnt bother as I thought it might be one of the seasonal cafes on the coast. It is actually a town centre cafe situated at the rear of a shopping mall. There is lots of free parking including the nearby station car park. The cafe itself looks quite small on entering but there is another dining area to the side. A dog welcoming area would be nice during the winter months.Most of the diners were locals relaxing over their food. Always a good sign. There is a good breakfast menu, I had the workmans breakfast which was generous and well cooked including some fine bacon, black pudding and beautifully crisp hash brown. The mushrooms were spot on. My only quibble was the use of catering sausage when such good sausages are available from local butchers at very little extra price Personally I would be prepared to pay a little more for them. If it was not for this it would be top class

Parking by the station is just across the road. Convenient for shops too. Very friendly place with great choice of breakfast options.

Tenía una tortilla de desayuno, era enorme y salió muy buena y caliente. No pedimos específicamente grasa en mi tocino y no podían hacer más por mí. Algunos restaurantes a costa de ignorar mi petición pero no. Fuimos con unos amigos y sus hijos, pequeña zona de juegos para entretener a los más pequeños mientras nos sentamos y disfrutamos de una exuberante café juntos. En conjunto, un lugar estupendo, personal y un café muy pretencioso con buenas porciones y un ambiente acogedor. Sin duda recomiendo ir aquí para un ejercicio de brunch de domingo!

Stopped here whilst cycling. I had red velvet cake and a Pepsi but my friends had a breakfast and breakfast baguette. Very decent portion sizes which is always good. Nice cake. Outside Seating for when the sun is shining.

Visité este lugar un montón de veces como su brunch cerca de casa de mis hijas. Comida casera... ha sido buena cada vez que hemos estado en. Aparentemente cambia a un restaurante de estilo bistró por las noches pero nunca hemos comido allí en ese momento del día.

Vine aquí para el brunch y tenía tortilla con bacon y champiñones. Era enorme y tenía una buena porción de patatas fritas y un trozo de pan tostado. Muy abundante!

Pasó por Llantwit Major para un almuerzo rápido. Primero tuvimos que esperar 5 minutos en el mostrador a la orden (no en la cola, no - uno en el recibo y el personal charlando en la puerta de la cocina nos ignoró).

Popped in here a number of times and can say I love everything about this place, friendly, relaxed, welcoming staff and atmosphere. Always leave feeling happier. Good prices to. I am surprised to read the negative reviews, I wonder if they have the right cafe.

Arrived with husband at 5 to 3 today. Stood at counter and advised by waitress to sit down and she would be with me shortly. Sat and waited....and waited. Waitress put her jacket on and sat at table opposite prior to leaving at 3. Other waitresses pottered about. Went to counter again and told " you need to order at the counter". Ordered 2 cappuccinos. Received 2 cups of warm fluid in cup and saucer with stains. Noticed that 2 ladies opposite left without drinking their coffee and not eating the cake.Looked more closely.Grubby bucket and mop in middle of eating area. Floor soiled . Cake chiller left open and very grubby. Assistants sitting down and chatting. Whole experience very poor. ? 4 rating on the door.---must have been a mistake.

Turned up at 1:32pm on a sunny Sunday looking for a quick lunch. Sign outside said Open until 2pm. After sitting at a table in the otherwise empty "restaurant" we were told the kitchen had closed at 1:30, moments earlier. No offer of a limited choice menu or a simple sandwich. Staff were clearly not interested in our custom or money. We won't be back and will tell others of our experience. Frustratingly unprofessional and small minded.

I've visited coast cafe 3 times now and every time I have been there the staff have been so lovely/friendly and food is outstanding. Its a pram and wheelchair friendly place. Highly recommend.

Always a treat to pop into llantwit village as I now live in the busy city of cardiff. Its something we all take for granted;to actually have a chat with staff rather than them just rushing to take our order! Where I live now any waiters/waitresses are far too rushed off their feet to even say hello and that's what I love about this place - it oozes the personal touch and the food is also of great quality. Highly recommended this place if your looking for good food and service to match :)

So my family and I had another trip here recently in the hope that it has improved since our last visit months ago.It was very quiet in Coast but there was food on the floor and the staff hadn't cleaned it up by the time we left but then again, did they notice it? After all, it can be hard when you're mid conversation with customers. I ordered a burger and chips which cost ridiculous money for the quality. The chips tasted undercooked and the burger was of microwave quality. I mean that seriously. I would be surprised if it wasn't from the microwave. The salad was rather nice and improved the burger when added together but probably because it wasn't edible on its own as it was 3 quarters onion.My partner had more luck with the broccoli and cheese bake which I admit, looked rather nice. The service was excellent however and we received the food very quickly. The staff weren't as awkward as they were on my previous visits. To recap, I'm not sure why this is the go to place in Llantwit Major for cooked food as I've now had poor grub on my last two visits but I think a 3rd and final review visit will tell me whether it's just my bad luck or that Coast is just bad.

Ordered 2 drinks for regular people at this cafe but to hold them back so they don't get cold but then they all of a sudden they were placed on the table the coffee went stone cold and a nice frothy milkshake lost its froth so it looked like I had drank some myself so I took the coffee back up asking if I could have a fresh 1 they said yes but then charged me again so now this small coffee cost me £3.40 never again

Breakfast is best for me - the brunch is more than I can handle, and I've tried!!! Coffee and cake, tea and scones, cooked breakfast, a full meal - everything is just right.It must be good as the staff eat here as well - ask Rachel, she has baked potato and cannot understand why people put bad and nasty things in TripAdviser about the Coast cafe - in her words - they should get a life (I agree).Plenty of car park space, walking distance from bus and train stations (and charity shops) - have a day out - it's on the main Maesteg - Treorchy rail line. I'd say it was well worth a stop when heading for the airport - 5 miles away.Well done Coast - someone who appreciates your food and service.

We have previously had trouble with our being incorrect. The server hasn't always listened or often adds unwanted items. This young man was polite, got the order correct first time and was very pleasant.Food was great, very toddler friendly cafe. Reasonably priced too!

ignore the negative reviews and go try it out for yourself. This is a little gem of a place, really nice food and good little spot to sit with a coffee and watch the world go by. I've been here a few times now and it's always busy (indication of good food)! The staff are pleasant and the breakfast is lovely, like many of the other reviewers here I do like my bacon to be on the crispy side, but I state this when ordering and so far have not been disappointed.

The food here is terrible. I had a full English breakfast that tasted undercooked and when I ordered it I requested to change the mug of tea for a cold drink, I was refused and told I had to pay extra instead despite not wanting the tea which they served to my partner anyways after charging her separately. A bit of work on staffing and slightly longer cooking time and this place might be decent enough to warrant another visit.At least the food prices are not bad for Llantwit Major!

Having read other reviews it was with some trepidation that we tried this cafe. I must say that I was pleasantly surprised. My partner had a jacket potato with cheese, which came with delicious home made coleslaw. I had the curry half and half- a very generous portion which barely fitted on to the plate. It was tasty and signed as home made (although the sauce did have some similarities to those out of a jar). With drinks the meal came to £11 - very good value.

Service was slow. Took around 45 minutes for our order to arrive, my tea went cold waiting for my breakfast. We weren't given any cutlery so I had to get those myself. Same again with napkins/serviette. No glass for orange juice either. Had to drink from the bottle. Someone near by kept farting too which made the experience even less enjoyable.

well, in we went, my sister and I, feeling peckish and gasping for a cup of coffee. Abrupt staff with a definite attitude problem. The prices were really quite expensive, £6 for corned beef pie and chips. Pie was tasteless and a very small portion with a portion of chips. For that price I would have expected a salad garnish and coleslaw. If that wasn't bad enough, the door was kept wide open so there was bees flying everywhere, landing in the food and I had a fly sitting on the rim of my coffee cup. All in all, I was glad to get out of there and, needless to say, will not be going back.

I have been to the Coast a few times now for Sunday breakfast and it never disappoints. On a sunny day you can sit outside and even on a rainy day they keep the outside doors open. I have been with friends and also used their wi-fi to book a holiday over breakfast. The food is standard cooked breakfast fare but it is done well and the Sunday specials are worth looking out for along with the milkshakes. If I have visitors, this is where we go for a Sunday brunch before they take the train home (the station is just across the car park).

Visited coast cafe bar for the first time on Sunday lovely gammon egg and chips!!! The dining area was light and airy with bright white decor. The sliding doors were wide open allowing the cold breeze in and access for those who wished to dine alfresco. The coast cafe bar has a homely feel about it the staff are friendly and relaxed everything was clean and tidy. neat baskets of condiments were present on each table though our table and the table next to ours both lacked a salt cellar. The food was fab, good portion sizes, freshly prepared and great value for money. I would not hesitate to do brunch here again plenty of choices on the menu and good service though I wouldn't necessarily recommend the vegetarian breakfast it didn't look too appetising!

So my boyfriend ordered a takeaway baquette... when it arrived it was a soft roll and the responce from staff was there are no baquettes left... umm if you dont have what i ordered do not then proceed to make me something i dont want and still charge me for it... very rude, lazy and unhelpfull! Not only that but a women behind the counter was shouting really loudly accross the room, disturbing everyone... she was talking to loads of people when she should have been doing her job and not being such a loud mouth. She then caught me staring at her as she physicaly made me jump with her shouting and then decided to shout 'sorry guys' to everyone in the cafe.The prices are also ridiculous... £2.50 for a slice of cake, i can buy a whole cake for that from the shop down the road which is much nicer than the ones in coast. We wont be returning.

Usual cafe fare in the day, with good cakes and a decent cup of coffee. Weekend evenings it turns in to a tapas bar, often with good quality live music. The tapas is ok, but you really go for the atmosphere and the music in the night.

Brilliant venue for those of you looking for a little something different.Its catered for the more mature.The band night with Tapas here is a very relaxing evening thrown in with a bit of a dance after the food.We also use this place for breakfast.Also sit outside enjoy a coffee wine or beer after a nice long dog walk.

The cafe is close to car parking, bus station and train station.I've visited this cafe several times for breakfast and found the breakfast to be consistently goodThe staff are friendly staff and there's a fairly quick service.

A great café serving hot meals sandwiches and yummy cakes. I'd hate it to disappear, if you're sick of plastic and uniform eateries you'll love it. They sell all sorts of beach toys, i.e. beach balls rubber rings buckets and spades etc. etc. It's brilliant

So I started this experience of a life time that no one should ever have with ordering my food with a young lady who was very pleasant. I then sat down on a table which was stinking but it was the cleanest one out of the rest left! Now this is were it all starts...... Our food got brought out to by this lady who has the biggest attitude know to human, she slapped the food down which was all over the place, for example I didn't order tomatoes but I had them on my plate so I asked if they could remove them to which I got told "just brush them off your plate" then my pal didn't wants mushrooms on his to which he got told the same thing! The quality of food was horrific! I have never been spoken too like this in my life by anyone but if you want a true opinion about a cafe I would never step foot in this building! The thing is I have worked in this industry for a while now and know the level it should be to bring in repeat custom and this coast cafe is not the answer! I hope you sort it out!!!!

I have visited the Coast on may occasions during the past six or so years, and have always been happy with the meals there.Of late, I've taken my young grand children there where they can enjoy something off the child menu. Like me, they have always managed to finish their meal, which is a firm testimony as to the tasty cooking.The Coast is situated in the Pound Field area of Llantwit Major where there is ample free car parking spaces all day.Some people have complained that the prices have increase over the past couple of years! As far as I am concerned, any increases have been small and reasonable. In any case, could these people tell me exactly where prices have not increases? Get real I say! The Coast offers good value for money, that is why it is so popular.

After waiting sometime to be served we got the counter to be told there was no clean plates or mugs. The assistant was both blunt and demonstrate a dismissive attitude. Shame as the breakfast have been very good in the past. We left without placing an order.

Been going to Coast now for about 5 years on and off, although the price is a bit more than a usual cafe for the breakfasts it's worth the money really. If you have a workmans breakfast you get a big plate of food and the service is really quick. More than happy with the place. Never had a bad meal here yet. Would recommend this place, always clean and tidy inside!

Used to enjoy going to coast for breakfast with friends,work friends and family until they started putting there prices up and even charging extras for eg. If u have a tiny tots breakfast you can only have beans and not tomatoes which i think is ridiculous. As a paying customer you should be able to have a choice. Not only that i think £4 odd is expensive for a baguette. For the price we pay we should have more food on our plates. The staff are very friendly there just service can be a bit slow at times.
