The food was fine and of decent quality but nothing special. The service was below par. We weren't permitted to order until 20 minutes after we arrived because of a "big party" (it wasn't) and it was 80 minutes until we got our food from first arrival and one was a cold cheese platter! Ok ish in a Michelin star restaurant but not in Rutland for Sunday lunch. A shame as the location and venue is otherwise charming.

Friendly staff, and delicious food. Attended for Sunday dinner roast at 4pm-ish, to be told roast chickens were sold out, but if prepared to wait for 45 mins would be cooked fresh. Glad we did, it was piping hot, roasted vegetables, "WHOLE CHICKEN" presented for us to carve at leisure. Attentive staff who kept us informed of progress and pleasant conversation. We had visited for lunch time sandwich previously, glad we returned. Food was solid pub grub, well delivered! A great experience , good beer too, the staff should be proud of their offering. This is perhaps not the place "to be seen" in the area, but a pleasant atmosphere/experience.....hope to see you another year when we visit Rutland.

We stayed at the Coach House Inn for one night and found the accommodations to be good. The bathroom was interesting with an angle in the ceiling but the tub was fabulous with its slanted back. Loved it! Room was not large but very adequate for our night. We had a lovely time in the bar/dining area as everyone was very friendly and we were there for "game night" and learned a new one - Shut the Box :) Food was very good for both dinner and breakfast. A wonderful stop on our vacation.

We went with 2 friends, who had booked a table a month in advance.when we arrived,no-one seemed to have a clue who we were or about the reservation, but asked us to take a seat & have a drink.after half an hour,no-one had been to get us, so we had to ask at the bar.the delay was blamed on a couple of walk-ins ??? Having been shown to our table, we eventually finally ordered (no wine list - just house Shiraz/merlot etc).the driver was also served frozen Guiness zero 🤦‍♀️The food took an hour to arrive & all 3 steaks were served on nearly cold plates, plus undercooked (we ordered medium).the 1 fish & chips was good.there was one (apparently) very inexperienced young waitress & when we requested the bill, were told the ‘machine isn’t working’.certainly won’t return until they get their act together

Was in the area for work, had my previous food plans fall through and happened upon The Coach House. Was very happy I did! It was a wonderful cosy place, alive with people on a Wednesday night. Staff were very friendly, service was great, and my pie and chips were absolutely gorgeous (the sauce/gravy was amazing!) I hope I'll have another job that sends me back down from Manchester, because I know where I'll be going for dinner.

My husband and I stayed at The Coach Inn with our dog last week. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival, check in was quick and straightforward. The room was lovely and spacious, so plenty of room for our dog. It was spotlessly clean and had everything we needed. The food was amazing, evening meal was delicious (veggie tagine and steak dinner) and the breakfast was great. All individually cooked, large portions and well presented. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly we were all made to feel welcome and at home. Thank you to the owner for the suggested walk, parking at Sykes Lane and walking round Rutland Water. It was a beautiful walk, the dog loved it. Stopped at a lovely cafe on the water, but could only squeeze in a cup of tea after such a filling breakfast. Would highly recommend and we will be back.

Came today for my Husband's birthday with our 2 children. Unfortunately it wasn't a great experience. Firstly, no children's menu, only smaller portions of the main menu but no chicken roast for them either. Secondly, the restaurant was uncomfortably cold which I advised our waitress about. Not great with two small children. Thirdly, the gravy on the roasts tasted like hoisin sauce and other diners agreed! It was horribly sweet and ruined the dinner. Advised the waitress and she asked the chef who confirmed he had used too much sugar! You would think he would have discarded and remade it rather than serve it to paying customers knowing it was horrible! Lastly, our table was booked for 1pm; we didn't leave until 3:40pm! 2 hours and 40 minutes for 4 roasts and 3 desserts! We were informed when we arrived that they had an electrical issue this morning and were playing catch up, however, with only one other table of people in the restaurant, 2 hours and 40 minutes wasn't acceptable. Despite all of the above, we were not offered any discount off our bill. Over £100 for a very poor experience especially given it was my husband's birthday! Sorry, won't be returning

I've to stay two nights in the Inn for works reasons. The location was in the middle of nowhere. Hence, my expectations were low. The Inn wacosyzy and warm. Clean and tidy. There is a separate pub area and dining room area. With the rooms upstairs. The room was OK. Bathroom was very cold and there where few touches here and there to be improved (window to the street old and with lot if drafts, and the bedside table needing a painting (or a table top). Apart for that's little details (the bed was very comfy and the room was clean and t, dy) the whole feeling was warm and welcoming. The owner Emma served is on my last break, ast and she was a DELIGHT.. funny, helpful, ch, tty and intelli. If, if I wasn't 2+ hours away from the p, ace I'd go often there just for the pleasure of her company. Another thing that caught me off guard was the EXCELLENT quality of the meals. See photos. On the premise that I'm Italian and worked as a chef at a young age, if day that the quality was as a Michelin star restaurant. The braised beef was incredible, and the rest of the food was excellent. Kudo to the chef. I would suggest to anybody that is in the area or paying, to plan a lunch or dinner at the place, super- worthy . Emma next time you go to Italy remember to visit Pitigliano, in Tuscany.

The very tone to this response and criticism is the real issue. Of course on all occasions you were correct and everyone else to blame. As a business you do no wrong. I don’t know this infamous ‘dangerous dog man’, I wasn’t aware there was one on the loose, but I’ve no doubt he was in the wrong too. Having visited a couple of weeks back and saw my dinner in reverse, I thought it warranted a negative review, but of course I now know that’s nothing to do with you. Perhaps it was ‘dangerous dog man’? Having now been corrected I shall give you an extra star

Food was okay, but service extremely slow with only one waiting staff. My husband and I ordered soups for starters but there was no butter with the bread so we asked for some but the soup was cold before we had a chance to ask again when the waitress reappeared and finally brought some over to us. We then had to wait some 3/4 hour for our risottos, which were quite small and eaten in about 5 minutes. We didn't think we'd try to order a dessert as we'd be there all night, so asked for the bill. About 25 minutes later, with no show from the waitress with our bill, we decided to go to the bar to pay, but were confronted with her canoodling behind the bar with another member of staff. We're not bothered what the members of staff get up to but, when it means the service is non-existent, that's extremely poor show. We had previously almost booked up a room at the inn for that weekend as well but were so glad we had booked elsewhere instead.

Both myself and my wife went for the haddock, fish was ok the chips had more salt on than a siberian salt mine, no peas and took an hour to come. The pub wasn't even busy. Young girl was very nice and apologised. Lad behind the bar was vaping, woman with two dogs vaping, over all not a fantastic experience. Every member of staff we encountered were lovely, the young man in the bar (Jack I believe) was so welcoming and friendly and looked after us so well. Our room was pleasant and the bed very comfortable.Breakfast was fabulous, Emma who is the owner served us breakfast and made sure we had everything we could possible need! Fresh juice, great coffee, Danish pastry and fruit platters, toast and jam and full English cooked breakfast were all delicious and of very good quality. We can’t wait to come and stay again and will definitely be having dinner this time! Thank you for a lovely stay.

Had dinner there. Waitress was good. When the food arrived seem a bit too much like a microwave dinner, but Ok. When leaving there was some confusion with the bill. When we got home, we noticed that we had been overcharged for a main meal of £15.95. The next day we phoned, and they said they would refund. The amount they refunded was £9.00. We phoned another 3 times to ask for the remaining £6.95. The person responsible was always 'out'. We never got the full refund for a meal we didn't have. Disgraceful.

Excellent food and service. Friendly. Dogs allowed in bar and garden. Not a place for a quick meal but the wait is worth it.

“A royal disaster at the Kings Arms! Took the family out for what we hoped would be a hearty meal and instead got… well, a small sample size of a dinner! The much-anticipated muntjac main came out and looked more like an appetizer, served with all the grandeur of a bite-sized snack. When we politely asked the waitress if this was actually the main course, she snapped back with a cheery ‘Well, maybe you should eat before you come next time!’ Ah, the charm. Things only got weirder when the owner marched over, raised an eyebrow at us like we were some sort of Yelp/TripAdvisor/Google Review mafia, and kindly informed us, ‘You’d better not even think about leaving a review.’ Well, here we are, honoring her request… sort of. So, if you’re into dining experiences where you leave hungrier than you arrived and enjoy being mildly threatened, the Kings Arms is your kind of place!”

An absolutely perfect experience from the time we stepped into the pub until the time we left. The staff were very friendly and were very knowledgeable about the wines and food. The atmosphere was perfect as was the set menu and the breakfast. This pub is a real gem set in perfect countryside with lovely walks around. We will certainly be visiting it again.
