My mum and dad stayed here after our daughter wedding and gave it a glowing report said breakfast was lovely. So when we were thinking of eating out on Christmas day with thought of Etrop Grange. On the surface it looked really nice even though we had the only table without a center decoration, the starters were lovely except the ones intended to be hot were only warm, 9 of the 11 main courses we also not hot, 2 arrived about 5 minutes later both of those were nice and hot. We asked for cranberry sauce it arrived when most meals were finished. A few other niggles which added to the disappointment The hotel is a little shabby in parts but nice and homely and welcoming. We emailed the general manager our feedback which resulted in a rather abrupt reply with a few rather personal insulting comments. When paying the bar bill which was incorrect and had to be amended, I witnessed and chatted to 2 other parties complaining about the same thing all were corrected but sadly with apologies. I only usually add positive reviews but unfortunately the general managers attitude to feedback made me change my mind. Back to Xmas dinner at home for us!!

I was staying at the hotel and was tired so decided just to eat there, mistake. I ordered the bread with oils to start. Two small pieces of white crusty bread with one small pot of oil. £4!!!! Eh? My main was the lamb hot pot. Portion was small although the food did taste good. The lamb chop was very fatty. The hot pot was very good and pastry perfect. Service was extremely poor. Waitress kept telling everyone she was working herself, not our issue. Another diner got the wrong item brought out. No real apology and the other person left to eat alone while the correct dish was prepared. No offer of discount or free meal, not even a free drink offered. Very poor. If I ever stay here again I would make the effort to go out for food, even if tired.

My wife and I were to stay overnight near the airport prior to our flight the following day and we booked dinner at the restaurant which I believe is called the Grange Bar and Grill: it was the 1st of December which I mention as it was the first night of their Christmas Party Nights of which we were unaware so when we entered to be greeted by the cacophony caused by the revellers we were a little discomfited but we were shown to the restaurant and the party continued deeper into the room where we first saw the guests and the noise was not troublesome; I also mention this as the staff were undisturbed with no sign of stress under the extra workload and we were served with amiability for which they were to be praised. We shared baked Camembert to start but, as is so ften the case, with terrines and pâtes as well, there was insufficient bread 🍞 so had to ask for more which wasn't a problem but we'd just rather have not had to. To follow my wife had the slow cooked belly pork, the 'meat' of which was tender and tasty but the crackling was not crispy/crunchy as it should have been so was for her inedible; by comparison I had the 'Lamb Hotpot Pie served with crumbed (simply broken into small pieces) black pudding mixed into a selection of vegetables. As a general rule I don't like my food 'messed about with' (whiskey 🥃 doesn't need cream and crème brûlée shouldn't be adulterated with Baileys) but this evening the offering was 'salted caramel' crème brûlée and as I like salted caramel I decided to risk it and it was delicious. Overall the experience was such tha, as our plane back arrives around 12.30pm we are going for lunch if we can get in I would certainly recommend this restaurant based on this visit.

Booked after tea with a glass of prosecco four four people. Food was delicious and the tea and processo were excellent. The conservatory was rather chilly and looked very tired....blinds, carpets, table clothes. We walked through a small area with comfortable seating, coffee tables and a fireplace with a living gas fire. We ordered more prosecco and coffees and asked could we move out of the conservatory and asked could the fire be switched on. We were told that the fire could not be turned on, as it had been condemned. Not what we expected, it would not encourage me to stay at Etrop Grange. What else might be condemed? I suggest that this establishment is certainly missing an opportunity by not being able to make the best of this area, especially as winter is upon us,

This meant we were seated in a cold conservatory. The food was overcooked and dry. The waitress was snotty when we drew sttention to this, but did not charge the wine. Only 2 bulbs in our room worked. There was only 1 towel in the bathroom, we did locste another in the wardrobe, but why not just put it in the bathroom. The walls are peperthin and i could hear the tv and conversations in the nxt room. The bathroom was mouldy as well. Upon arrival we found a Pleasant looking building with a majestic entrance. We were soon disappointed by the circles of flies below the dated chandeliers in the reception. We questioned our choice of venue as we ventured through the location, we were directed to a fire door to Exit in order to drink outside. The saving grace of this dated venue is the superhot fantastic pink haired girl behind the bar. She was accommodating, polite, professional, attentive, and genuine. I have no doubt that this venue would fulfil the dreams of many people when it comes to a wedding venue, however as a location to come for a drink I would have to choose elsewhere.Really though, the girl with the pink hair is The jewel in the crown. We are looking forward to revisiting based on pink haired girl alone. If you would like any advice we would suggest changing the gas on your draft beers immediately... Many thanks

we stayed at this hotel as had an early morning flight and it looked reasonable, how wrong were we.... the bar was poorly stocked and what they did have bore no resemblance to the drinks menu then the food, we ordered chicken liver pate and a prawn cocktail to start with, these arrived, the prawns were off, the salad old and the chicken liver pate was actually an extremely salty Brussels pate and not a good one at that so both starters were sent back as inedible, the chefs response was that it couldn't have been Brussels pate as Brussles pate has lumps in it, knowing Brussels to be a traditionally smooth pate this did not instill great confidence in the chef. burgers had been ordered for main, beef for me and chicken for the wife, 2 beef burgers arrived so one went back whilst one did not have all the sides quoted so they were then bought I will be fair here and say that the burger was clearly homemade and very tasty but things were past redemption by now, chicken burger finally arrived minus the bacon that had been requested, at this point we were going to cut out losses but the manager was very apologetic and said we could have dessert on the house, surely they couldn't mess that up, wrong again - the banana split advertised as having toffee ice cream and sticky toffee sauce arrived with the a tiny bit of banana, vanilla ice-cream and chocolate sauce when this was raised the chefs answer was I didn't know that?????????, never before have I eaten anywhere that has got something wrong with all 3 courses, please don't go here and if you do I hope you get a better meal

I ate here with a large group for business. I realize this must be difficult with the hotel guests also eating at the same time. We had been asked to make our selections ahead of time and as often happens, one person ended up not getting their choice, probably because someone else had taken their meal. But the way the servers handled it was surprising - is it even possible that there wasn't a single portion of salmon available in the kitchen? I think not but the server told us there was nothing left and he had to eat the chicken. As dessert was being served, there was a request for a cheese plate - the server looked pained and said she would ask the chef and then never returned avoiding the person that asked until we left.

We met at this Hotel for my Mother in Laws 85th birthday lunch. Our first look at the place was shocking for a so called "up market" hotel. Rotten timber on the window frames, and obviously in dire need of an up grade. Our party was booked into the conservatory..looking around, it was obvious that work was desperately needed...window blinds were covered in water marks where there were obviously leaks..carpets were ruffled at the entrance to "the bar"..now that's another problem!!.. they did not any other white wine except Pinot Noir..they had no lemon slices for drinks. Back to the lunch...in their favour.. they had jugs of water on the table..thankfully!! We had Butternut Squash soup..which was acceptable.. but the sandwiches..good grief!!!..the bread was sliced white and brownish..and DRY!!..some had egg mayonnaise, packet sliced rubber ham and cheese and pickle...RANK!! They would have been marginally better with a little salad!! I have to say..we had no problems with the staff.. they all did their job very well, but management need to spend some of their over priced, "food" money, on some much needed refurb, and better food!!. I can imagine that lot's of people use this place as it is right by the side of Manchester Airport..for me..I only live 10 minutes away..and my feet will never darken their door step again.

Those of a certain age will perhaps remember a time when Etrop Grange was synonymous with finesse, charm and fine dining. Having had many a splendid meal there, it was, I thought, a real treat to return. Our mistake was to go on a Saturday. We had planned a leisurely pre-dinner drink but the writing was already on the wall: there was a wedding party in which had, frankly, the run of the place, while onlookers watched on aghast at the antics. It was not pretty.Never mind, we thought, perhaps the restaurant will be an oasis of calm and save the day. Sadly not. Greeted as we were by garish lighting, shell suits, (I kid you not) all the finesse of yesteryear was trashed. The Other and I both lamented at the loss of a local landmark which had always been such a lovely venue. The food was not bad... even good so hats off to the chef although the dessert of ice cream had obviously at some time thawed out and re-froze, but more importantly, there was a distinct lacking in standards of the waiting staff who clearly had never been trained. There was of course the obligatory greeting of 'You guys..' which just sends The Other into a series of headshakes. We were then greeted as Sir and Miss. Most strange. Overall, it was an evening not to be repeated. Whether week days would be any better is debatable. Some serious attention needs to be given to staff training and I for one am greatly saddened by the loss of this local gem.

I recently purchased a voucher for afternoon tea at The Etrop Grange Hotel next door to Manchester Airport.Firstly let me say that this old building is delightful, I was brought up just around the corner from here and remember the area before it was built up (when it was Ringway Airport). You can find the various services this stylish hotel provide on the website. The staff are friendly and helpful and we were shown to our table as soon as we checked with the receptionist. A very tasty glass of bubly arrived with a large pot of tea, (enough for three cups each). There were nine finger sandwiches, two warm pastries each, two scones with clotted cream and a choice of jams, along with two mini blueberry muffins and two pieces of Madeira cake.We were not rushed and the window seats were very relaxing.Having had a few afternoon teas, this one rates very highly and the hotel is in a pleasant situation, very convenient for the airport. For those flying out anywhere they offer a special room only rate along with car parking, and transport to your terminal. We've had quite a few afternoon teas over recent months taking advantage of various on-line deals. Having read recent reviews on this site, our expectations weren't overly high. However, I do think some of the comments are a little harsh. Our waitress Becki was lovely & the service was excellent. We didn't have long to wait for anything & we were offered extra tea/coffee throughout. The conservatory tables were laid out with butter & mini pots of jam as well as the usual teacups & saucers - could double up for breakfast or afternoon tea - not sure what else one would expect. The tea & coffee arrived promptly followed by the chilled fizz as requested. It wasn't champagne but was pleasant enough. The 3 tier server arrived with a nicely presented variety of tasty treats. Freshly made finger sandwiches of egg mayonnaise, ham & tomato & smoked salmon with cream cheese & cucumber - all very nice. There were 9 sandwiches in total & normally that would be it regarding a savoury option but they were accompanied by 2 small quiche-like tartlets & a vegetarian savoury triangle served with fresh salad leaves with a mustard dressing. The 2 warm scones were small but quite adequate with a good portion of clotted cream & our choice of jams. In addition there were 2 generous slices of moist lemon sponge cake & 2 mini chocolate eclairs.Overall, for the price £17 including 2 glasses of fizz, it was pretty good ! Would I come back for afternoon tea ? Yes - definitely !!

We had booked for 'champagne afternoon tea' for a friend's birthday through a LIving Social Deal and from the description we we expecting somehting a little more special than what we got!The conservatory are where we were seated was pleasant enough, but the tables were laid out for breakfast - not afternoon tea. Our server was very pleasant, but clearly trying to work in several areas of the venue. We were brought our champagen - it was not champage - it was probably a perry or mousseaux at best - two of the glasses were not even chilled. The two sets of afternoon tea came - the requested vegetarian one came with tuna sandwiches and had to be set back. The plate of finger sandwiches was replaced with triangles. Teh fillings were so poor - the ready grtaed plastic style cheddar cheese and pre made egg mayonnaise - really - it was a kids party standard. We also had two defrosted mini tartlets and a vegetarian sausage sliced diagonally as savoury treats. The cake selection included a mini 'Iceland' eclair. On a plus note the coffee was quite nice. For the boast of a four star venue and AA Rosette this really was not an acceptable standard. You would expect something a bit more classy and inventive.

on the surface this hotel looks homely and comfortable. booked a special afternoon tea for family of 8 to celebrate two birthdays. what a shame! wrong venue!!! shown to table. waited an hour and half to be served with a pot of tea. no choice of blends. had to go to the bar to order drinks, at a premium price, as no tea arrived after 40 minutes! enquired after 1 hour why no service to be told by waitress she was only one working. she continued to serve a couple who had just arrived. they received a pot of tea immediately after being seated! after complaining to front office eventually, 20 minutes later, a pot of tea arrived, no milk! then a further 20 minutes before food arrived. seemed to be a shortage of crockery as manager was running from room to room collecting used dishes and tea stands. No cream for scones, had to enquire. I have never experienced such poor customer service. no baby changing facilities. staff offered towels to be put on floor of restaurant. we suggested this was unacceptable and was then shown to a bedroom to change baby. baby needed feeding but we decided it was best to leave and go home as couldn't risk asking for further service.hoping residents receive better service. I will certainly not be returning after this experience.

There are a myriad of choices in hotels at MAN, from the International cookie cutter chains to the Etrop Grange a pleasant exception to the Vanilla options nearby. The Etrop is a haven of quiet and sophistication so near to T2 but yet so far away in terms of the airport chaos one will face in the AM checking-In and passing the robotic, sometimes aggressive and intrusive Airport Security lines. To check-in the Etrop late afternoon, shower and then peruse the Wineglasses excellent dinner or Bar menu over a nice cold Chardonnay is the perfect antidote to the trials ahead. The hotel rooms are small but very comfortable, even if sometimes ones room search is more like orienteering with great satisfaction on arriving at last at ones room door (the staff will assist if asked but I am one who likes the challenge of finding my room by myself). The food and service in the hotels Wineglass restaurant are much more in keeping with fine dining than the hotels other amenities, the food is second to non and served with flair. The Head Waiter/ Mai-tre'D Geoffroy Van Roelenbosch has been with the Wineglass for some eighteen months and from a nervous some times hesitant beginning has developed a flair that very well compliments the restaurants excellent menu offerings. In the near future it seems Geoffey will move on, however only as far as the Hilton very nearby, a further rung up the ladder for him but a loss for the Wineglass, however with the excellent chef and support staff the Wineglass will I am sure continue to spoil and surprise its guests with outstanding dishes served in the elegant style of more exotic locals. The Etrop is my hotel of choice the night before I fly back to the US, for as mentioned the quiet relaxing atmosphere and the excellent dinners in the Wineglass. There is a Dinner and room rate option that many will find appealing it has limited menu selections, but offers very good value for money. Given the lack of an elevator first floor rooms(UK ground floor) are a good option

We went here for a mid week treat and we were not disappointed. The reception area is lovely and we were shown promptly to the dining area and head waiter who showed us to our table. He was really polite and pulled out my chair for me. We perused the menu and were surprised at the prices, but decided to stick with it. we ordered our meals and sat back to relax, a bread basket was brought round and we were given a roll each. This was a little hard not old hard just over baked I think. Our starters arrived quite quickly and my husband and I laughed at this huge plate and a tiny starter to one side it looked quite silly really. It was nice and enjoyable but very expensive for what it is. we were served out main extremely quickly after our starters were taken away, a bit too quickly for my liking it felt rushed. My husband ordered the lamb and we were a little shocked to find it came with no veg or potatoes and we were not told this. My main came with chunky chips and onion rings so I shared mine, but we should have been told that his main didn't come come with anything as due to the price I would have thought it did!! The service was lovely but we were never asked once during our meals was it nice or ok, which was a shame really. I wouldn't go back as I found it very expensive for what you get.

Having booked Sunday lunch in the hotel restaurant with a young lady on 25 April, my sister, her husband and myself were looking forward to lunch on the 12 May. When we arrived on Sunday, 12May, after each travelling 75 miles, we were advised that there was no booking and the restaurant was closed! After showing our disappointment we were offered lunch in the bar. The waiter disappeared to get menus. No drink offered, a 20min wait! Eventually he re-appeared with a special shortened menu from the kitchen. 2 of us chose lamb....when we placed the order, we were told, there was none!We were then looked after by a charming waitress and waiter who were far more charming than the 'head' who greeted us. The food was good but what chaos and I would certainly not go again!

First up; not sure if there is a 'Coach House' here any more - its almost certainly been renamed the WineGlass, but until such time as it gets a Tripadvisor page of its own, this is being filed under the Coach House page.Secondly, until I returned from the four-day 'boys weekend' in Latvia, to which our lunch at the WineGlass was the prequel, I had no idea who the chef was, and even less that he (Ernst van Zyl) had stints at Noma, Le Manoir Aux Quatre Saisons and the Fat Duck under his belt.We had pencilled in lunch here some time ago, but confess that the scant, and mixed, reviews on Tripadvisor coupled with a very lacklustre page on the hotel's website (still showing 'Winter' menus in mid-May), had us in two minds. I popped in the lunchtime before our intended visit - virtually empty, and the large all-day menu (dimensions rather than content) seemed more appropriate to a low-spec pizza joint (I am sure the dinner menu looks somewhat better). But after discussion we decided it was still the best bet before a 5.45pm flight.Met in the bar (very much a hotel bar) where we had a drink and ordered our food - from memory three Salmon Mi-Cuit and a soup to start, three Grilled Fish of the Day (gurnard on 'our' day) and an Etrop Burger for mains. When we were shown to our table they had set us out in the centre of the otherwise empty conservatory (not a criticism; the main room was almost empty too, but the conservatory is much lighter) and pushed the other tables out to give us bags of room. A nice gesture. The bread arrived with little Kilner-esque jars of smoked butter (it really did smoke when you opened them) which was a cracking opener. The salmon came with chicken liver smears and a couple of different beetroot adornments. Confess I don't remember what accompanied the gurnard but it was beautifully cooked, and we were beginning to realise that there was a pretty damned good restaurant here that to the outside world seemed to be hiding its light under a bushel. A very acceptable Chilean Sauv Blanc from the cheap end of the wine list went down very well, and might be the reason that I've forgotten what puds we had. The waiting staff were there when they were needed and did their jobs very well, but were happy to leave us to ourselves the rest of the time which was perfect. In short, while our lunch didn't quite match out experience at The French in the city centre a few weeks ago (which was more than three times the price !) this was far, far better than we ever thought it might have been. The apparently social media-loving Mr van Zyl - @ErnieChef if you're interested - could do with persuading the hotel owners to start marketing their main asset (van Zyl himself) rather better online (i.e. more up-to-date menus on the website, including the all-day one). A few more reviews in some of the mainstream media might help, but I guess that's where we all come in.

Had a meal at the Etrop Grange restaurant,it was the a la carte menu which was beautiful food in pleasant surroundings and the staff were excellent, the food looked amazing on the plate and the choice was varied but as with a la carte not a lot of it unless you had the steak, the starters and sweets again were small but very nice with a varied choice, I had leek terrine, pork with parma ham and baked pineapple, quite expensive and they didnt offer coffee and moved us out of the dining area as they were setting for breakfast !!! All in all a pleasant experience, they did have bar snacks available but didnt see what they were like,if you like lovely food but not a lot of it give it a go,or youll need to make a stop at the chippy on the way home

We dined at the Wineglass Restaurant with a Travelzoo half price taster voucher. First impressions in the bar were fine, but the restaurant itself was tired. The tables look fresh from a local charity shop and the waiter's jacket was at least 4 sizes too small leaving him looking like some sort of Billy Bunter caricature. The first 3 wines we attempted to select from the wine list were unavailable. The food novelle, unusual, but tasty. The salmon was allegedly poached, but almost raw. The desserts were excellent. I had diarrhoea within 2 hours of leaving but was the only one of the four of us.

I too was a witness to a disciplinary process by the manager and the chef, in the restaurant, during business hours, bizarre and uncomfortable, you must question the sense of those involved. The food is excellent, but overpriced and meagre in size. The drinks overpriced but of a size they would find hard to scrimp on.

We went to The Etrop Grange and partook of their 5-course sampler menu. The menu is deifinitely of the 'moderne cuisine' idiom and compares well against visits we've made to both Gordon Ramsey and Jamie Oliver establishments but, being outside the Greater London region, is decidedly better priced. All the dishes were served well by very attentive staff, who gave details as to the thoughts behind each dish. They were all visually well presented and the textures and flavours of every dish were exquisite. The 'Poached salmon with oyster, grape and black olive' was a total surprise being fully cooked but managing to remain a solid, non-flaky piece of fish with the decided appearance of being uncooked. Its flavours were distinct and well complemented by the accompanying sauce. The 'Pickled root vegetables with a duck egg, goat’s milk and watercress' was a subtle combination of starkly contrasting flavours and textures. The 'Corn-fed chicken breast with Jerusalem artichokes, brassica and spaetzle' was a great variation on the normal chicken breast presentation and was very artistically displayed on plating. Its overall impact, being a smoked chicken dish, was rather germanic in styling and contrasted well with the preceding dishes. The 'Lemon curd meringue with wild rice and almond' contained just the right degree of sweetness from the meringue to complement the sharpness of the lemon and was extremely refreshing following the chicken course. The final course '70% bitter chocolate soup with gingerbread, orange and fennel' remained a mystery until presented. It was a very rich, strong flavoured dessert, which rounded off the entire dining experience excellently. It must be said that the menu choice is NOT for the picky or faint-hearted, NOR for anyone expecting huge proportions. It is however, a dining experience that will remain as an extremely pleasurable memory for many years to come.I, for one, am looking forwards with baited breath to my next visit to The Etrop Grange.

My daughter and I went there for the Travellzoo Taster Menu with glass of Bubly-On Sunday; for my Birthday. The ambiance was lovely--The food very nouvelle and very different!!The First course was salmon--allegedly poached--but cold--interesting!! lots of coloured swirls and tiny pices of oyster on the plate. The Salad of warm duck egg--with cold pickled vegetables and some sort of goats cheese, was even more intereting--and very pretty!!The main course of hay smoked chicken was almost recognizeable--and very tasty--but no carbs?I loved the deconstructed lemon merinque pie, butmy daughter asked if hers could be put back together again!!I did not know what to expect with the Chocolate soup, but it was really just a very strong--bitter dark chocolate sauce, with a fennel sorbet--interesting taste combination!!The chef came out to explain the different courses and was fasinating; I am not sure if this style of food would suit everybody; it cerainly wasn't my daughter's cup of tea, but we had a wonderful, fun filled evening, and it was certainly worth what we paid Travelzoo--just for the experience!!

We were in the "wine glass" restaurant. The restaurant is fairly small and I suspect a good chunk of its clientele is either on business or residents, The restaruant is a little formal in style and problably not best suited to someone looking for a romantic location. However the food is to a high standard. Starters were imaginative and well presented. I had a cold salmon dish wish was delicious - totally smooth and succulent. For mains pork loin wrapped in parma ham. Very tender. The only mistake made was that we assumed it would be served with some vegetables. We had to hastily order these once the dinners arrived. Perhaps we could have been fore warned. Overall I would describve as posh British - it was good food & all well cooked, Enjoyable, but perhaps a bit pricey.

Not inexpensive probably due to the chef spending an inordinate amount of time rolling, chopping and bending the food into odd configurations. We don't like to think of ourselves as being pedestrian eaters but this left us a bit dumbfounded - a number of the items came in sushi-shaped tube forms which blended various components into close proximity so each mouthful was necessarily a blend of flavours - perhaps the intention of the chef. Hence, we spent a lot of our time wondering what was in each mouthful. Smallish portions. Good, attentive service. "Karen99"'s advice about the ability to order from a simpler menu in the bar is probably quite useful knowledge - we didn't know that.

We booked this hotel for 1 night before our flight, we arrived at 10.30PM and was greeted by a very friendly receptionist who offered efficient service we were checked in and went straight to our room. The room we had was great and we were very impressed, the bed was very high which made me laugh as i felt like the princess and the pea! it was very comfortable. we had some drinks and nibbles in the bar.On check out in the morning our bags were taken to the car and we were taken to the airport again very friendly member of staff. When we returned i called the mobile number provided and was shocked to find out our car was returned to us at the airport so it was a matter of load the car and off we went which you need after 9 hours over night on a plane. I can’t recommend this hotel enough the service was excellent and it is a lovely hotel and the cost for the room and 15 days parking was great, my only regret was we couldn’t get their earlier to sample the dinner menu and enjoy the room. If we have to fly from Manchester again this is where we will be staying.

It's been a good few years since I ate here and my dining experience didn't quite match up to my previous memories of the place. The food was good and not overpriced but it didn't quite have the attention to detail I'd hoped for. We weren't greeted when we arrived and found ourselves wandering around looking for a member of staff to seat us. The dining room wasn't very busy but the staff were talking to each other and not looking out for diners. Service was a little slow for drinks and the waiter seemed distracted and not really paying attention to the needs of diners. Both my partner and his daughter really enjoyed it but I was just a little disappointed. I would eat here again as the food was quite good and the prices were fair- perhaps it was just an off night for the staff!

So, 12 years ago this was a fab hotel and restaurant. Having just come home after my third visit for a meal with colleagues and customers in 3 months I vow never to return. Tonight has been another farce prompting me to write a review to save anybody else experiencing the same fiasco. There were 12 of us colleagues and customers.Table was booked for 7pm Tuesday.1) After reviewing the menu for 10 minutes. they were taken away and replaced with fixed price menus.2) When having decided what to have at the time of ordering we were told the soup was not available......not after going back to the kitchen so they knew when we were given the menus.3) The wine list was 2005....we received 2007!4) The pate starter was not home made, was a slab from a supermarket type loaf with an inadequate single slither of toast. The blue cheese salad was awful leaving a bowl of crumbs of blue cheese and onions that was inedible such was the heat of the onions.5) The Etrop burgers were undercooked and tasted awful. Not sure if there wasn't parmesan cheese in them. I had a lamb rump steak and substituted cous cous for big chips. I was not given an option of how cooked I wanted the .It came blue. The chips were awful. Burned, soggy and dripping in oil. Simply awful. My colleagues chips' with fish and chips were the same. So the chef had actually accepted they were acceptable for two dishes.6) Deserts were equally bad. I imagine the lemon tart was from tesco. My choc mousse was "ok".7) Coffee was ordered and mine was missed out but I found it on the serving table. Once most of us had finished the coffee and plate of Crawfords fruit shortcake biscuits were delivered followed by....wait for it...warm Custard Cream biscuits the fillings of which had melted so they slid when you picked them up.This pushed us over the edge and we simply howled with laughter at the utter incompetence of this place. My american colleague was determined to pay the bill and asked if she could add a tip to the bill. She was unable to add one to the bill as the tip would simply go to the company not the staff...so they didn't get a tip as we had no cash. This once great place is riding on an old reputation. We have a corporate room rate that never gets used as everybody now stays at the Raddison at the Airport such is the poor quality of the rooms also.Avoid.The chef here has no pride or creative ability as the menu and dishes lack imagination or consideration.

Therefore we were left having to search for another venue last minute.Appalling case of a business lining its pockets, we will not be rebooking with them at all and I would show caution when booking that they don't repeat this with yourself.
