Needed a well earned stop after a long drive and was pleased to find a pub with great views around. However…..very very disappointed with the quality of food and the extortionate price of everything. Would seriously recommend driving past to the next village! I don’t believe the owners have got any idea of what a Scottish pub should be like!

I did not stay here but stopped to buy some tins of Sprite. I did notice that fuel prices were 20p per litre higher than everone else so perhaps should have been more aware. However I went in and bought 2 tins of Sprite. That was fine and off I went until I was going to drink one and noticed on my receipt I was charged £9.00 for 2 tins of Sprite. This is not a markup this is daylight robbery

We enjoyed our lunch at this roadside inn while we drove from Fort William to Skye, stopping along the way to admire the beauty. It was recommended to me on the Tripadvisor Forum. The owner and staff were very friendly. We had considered just grabbing a sandwich to go at their place across the street, but decided to walk across to the inn to see what they had. The food was seasoned well. I had the pumpkin soup (served warm) with an Avocado Chicken Salad sandwich. It was a lot of food; and I profess I couldn't finish it, but it wasn't for lack of trying! My husband had the Smoked Haddock Mac N Cheese and a milkshake which he pronounced as delicious! Thanks for the great lunch!

Such a special location but such a dreadful place. How sad that they should have gotten it so wrong here. No draft beer available on tap so they charge £7 for a bottle of beer. They don't sell crisps but are happy to sell you french fries for £5. Loud music playing (Abba) added to the sad state of the place. Such a mess and so disappointing. It used to be so much better before the makeover. Best avoided.

Very overpriced food and drink. We were charged £21.50 for two pints of Tennents tops and a J20. On challenge, we found out the J20 was a whopping £4.50. You would pay half that in a restaurant or hotel. Not only that, the Tennents was £7 a pint, which is more expensive than a lager in the centre of London, but they also had the gall to charge a supplement of £3 for the lemonade dash. Unbelievable! The food was very expensive and they also levy a 10% charge on all orders brought to the table. Avoid this place, who are scalping the unwary.

They always check on you and provide everything required with a smile. You wouldn’t expect such outstanding food in a remote location but it’s very good. All of the dishes are of high quality and fresh. The menu is quite large and plenty of options for all types of eater. Portion sizes are very good also. Lamb chops and chicken biryani are particular stand outs of the food we ate. Breakfast is also very good. A hot buffet and cold selection of fresh fruit, yogurts, toast, fruit juice, cereal, coffee and tea and fresh omelets and poached eggs made to order. Service and quality again was very good at breakfast

We stopped for lunch at this location after being trapped in a snowstorm the day before and had skipped breakfast. I am a chef and I was suspicious of the menu which was very large and disjointed from Chinese noodles to Indian food, Scots stew and pizza/pasta. My boyfriend ordered a Fish and Chips and I a burger. I thought the meat was suspicious but we ate everything after all we had been fasting since the day before. a few hours later my boyfriend started to feel very sick. the fish and chips which was a brilliant idea mixing fish, shrimp and calamari can also be very dangerous for contamination. My boyfriend threw up for days and had a lot of diarrhea, then it was my turn. Nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. We spent New Year's Eve sick in our hotel room. I'm really disappointed because the place is so well decorated and expensive that I really didn't expect this to happen. Here we are back home, without being able to work treating some bacteria so that we can start the year without feeling stomach pains, nausea and vomiting. I don't like being the person who writes bad reviews but I'm really mad that I'm still sick and suffering from this bacteria that I'm pretty sure was from this meal.

My husband and I stopped here for lunch on our way to Isle of Skye. My husband had the cheeseburger which was mediocre at best and the fries were readymade frozen type. I ordered the soup of the day which was potato rosemary. It was terrible! Tasted like Campbell's condensed canned soup and it bothered my stomas for hours after eating. Our lunches and one coke plus mandatory service charge came to $37 US dollars!! There was a a bakery across the street and even though the cashier said all goods were baked in Claunie's kitchen, my husband wanted to try a croissant, cookie and scone for the next morning. Stopped here on our way from Skye to Inverness. The place looks decent and the decor inside was nice, but that is where the positives end. I ordered the cheeseburger and yes it was my fault for not reading the small print but no one in their right mind would associate salted crisps as an accompaniment for a cheeseburger. At £15.50 I was expecting a handmade, dripping with fat, juicy burger. However, what I got was one of those processed nasties that you get at 2am on a Saturday night from some shack next to the boozer. Disappointing.

I totally appreciate the need to balance the menu to cater for all tastes and tourists however personally we felt the all day menu was disappointing in the choice available for lunch. The buttered chicken is off the scale amazing. The only part of the equation which is not firing up to the high standard being delivered everywhere else is the service staff. They are friendly enough but lack the efficiency and attention to detail that the ‘Black Sheep’ group are clearly investing to attain. While they (almost) try hard there is still some way to go. We visited on the way back from Skye. It is the only restaurant for miles so you’re kind of stuck for options. We arrived at the lunchtime tour bus rush so we had to wait 10 minutes a table. We ordered soup and a burger and waited an hour. Lots of other people waited a long time to even order/receive drinks. When we asked about the status of our food we were told there had been an error, clearly forgotten our order entirely. We left at that point, having wasted an hour of our travelling time. Some feedback for the restaurant - a briefer lunchtime only menu e.g soups and sandwiches would be much more efficient than having steaks and salmon platters which clearly occupy longer time for the chef and therefore the customers.

Both the restaurant, hotel and petrol station are currently closed, sign on the roadside saying it will re-open in Spring 2019 (this was up at the end of May...) but still looks like major renovation work going on so may not be open for a while.

We just dropped in unplanned, looking for a spot for lunch on our drive from Portree to Inverness, and had a delicious meal! Easy on and off from A87, and plenty of parking.

Muffin uit de magnotron dus smakeloos. Zeer vieze toiletten.

Stopped off at the legendary Cluanie Inn after a day on the hills. We very much enjoyed the daily special - fish and chips - and found the food to be of good standard. The barman was friendly and engaged in chat. Plenty of parking across the road and the hotel is undergoing refurbishment at present. I'd be more than happy to stop off here again.

En route to Skye I stopped for lunch at the cluanie inn drawn by its reputation for looking after travellers climbers and walkers and motorists. The first bad impression was given by the open bins in the car park which seemed to be a depository for all sorts, including what seemed to be a fluorescent tube. The immediate impression was of an establishment which was lacking management. On entering the restaurant I waited some time , perhaps 2 or 3 minutes for a member of staff to appear behind the bar. The staff member was welcoming and directed me to a table indicating the location of menus. I ordered the house burger and waited around 15 minutes to be served. The burger was one of the most disgusting ever presented. I withdrew from the centre of the burger congealed fat which had not been cooked off. The accompanying fries were soaked in cooking oil. As a man in his 50s who loves food and has traveled the world my experience at cluanie ranks as one of the worst. A betrayal of highland hospitality and a betrayal of excellent cuisine.

Food served all day but not steak and ale pie by 2pm. We should not have bothered. Stopped for lunch last week. My partner wanted steak and ale pie but it was finished so he has a very small lasagne at a cost of £12.50 and I had a veggie haggis, tatties and neeps at £11.50 plus £1.95 for whisky sauce. The lasagne arrived along with an un-ordered toasted sandwich instead of the haggis. By the time the haggis did arrive my partner had finished his lasagne. I did get an apology for the delay and was told the chef had burnt the first one. It was ok but the sauce was awful – never seen a white whisky sauce before think it was just cream with a very small nip of whisky. There are only about 10 –12 tables and in the hour we were there 3 other tables were given the wrong order. There were 3 members of staff visible. One poor guy who was doing everything –serving behind the bar, serving the food, clearing the tables. There was a lady with her hair in a bun who walked around the place doing nothing very much except directing customers to tables. There was also one other guy who cleared one table.

We had an excellent meal at the hotel. We had read bad reviews, but this what NOT our experience. The food was well cooked and nicely presented. The staff were efficient

Booked in for 5 nights but only had one meal ,it was terrible. I should have left after one day but I had paid up front with my card and was not confident I would get my money back.As a Scot I was embarrassed at this excuse for our Hospitality

This must be one of the worst pubs I have been in. Tables were filthy , floors were sticky and staff were uninterested. We ordered two drinks and could not find a clean table, then after using the toilets and actually feeling the stickiness of the floor , left. There are so many nice bars in this area, if you see it ... walk on by ! Giving it one star is flattering!!

Visited 3 times in 5 days and probably spent more on coffee than we did on merchandise (and Tiso is an excellent shop by the way). Excellent coffee, lovely cake selection and a truly fantastic full English/Scottish breakfast. Staff were friendly and helpful. View to the Cairngorms outstanding and our doggy companions most welcome.

Dreadful food. After waiting for more than 40 minutes our inedible burgers arrived. Mine had 2 pieces of lettuce and a dry patty that was inedible until I added barbecue sauce. By the time the sauce arrived it was cold so even less pleasant. My husband's burger had bacon that was so hard he couldn't cut it. And the same patty. I gave an honest answer when asked about my meal and suggested they needed a new cook. It was the worst meal I have eaten in years. I'm told it used to be good. Avoid it at all costs.

Fantastic to have so many GF options to eat. We both opted for GF pancakes with bacon and maple syrup and a coffee. The coffee was perfection and the pancakes utterly delicious. Big, fluffy and just THE best find in Inverness! Thank you ❤️
