Once again, the staff of Clouds did us proud. We (Southport Friendship group and Crosby Writers) took a combined party of 47 to our Christmas lunch, and along with other groups, they managed around 70. Food was well served and piping hot, and nothing was too much trouble for those serving. If your son or daughter was working there today, you should be very proud of them. The same goes for Paula, and those working in the back. Thank you all for making our day, special.

Students are being taught here, and normally the food is really good for what it is. Today however I had ordered an egg nog trifle which had never seen an egg, and indeed wasn’t even a trifle as there was no sign of amaretto biscuit, or any other in sight. All we got was a runny fruit jelly with whipped cream on top. When I commented to the restaurant manager we were brushed off, and not too politely. How are the students to learn that they should actually be at least preparing and serving something that bears at least a nodding acquaintance with its description? Otherwise the meal was really good but basic.

From the short varied luncheon menu I had Pate, then Pork Escalope with Dauphinoise potatoes, roasted swede, and brocolli and finally an assiette of three excellent desserts. All for £9.50 ! The students were attentive and the 4th floor view was of the Pennines. You have to book.

Was getting hungry in Southport so went into Waterfield's for a snack. Tried the Lancashire pasty which was ok. Pastry was a bit thick and soft and filling was a bit salty. A bit pricey at close to £2!
