Went for pre theatre set menu. Excellent presentation, taste of food and quality. Good portion sizes including on the meat. Attentive service and the venue of course is one of the best you will find

Disappointing experience Complained about the food, no action was taken.

Luke-warm leftovers of its former glory. We had a birthday lunch, which resulted in my birthday completely ruined. I had to go home straight after and spent the day on the sofa, sick. I tried to call the restaurant in the evening to warn them not to serve the same meals. No answer. I sent an email expressing my disappointment - this was two weeks ago; no answer either. Avoid.

I booked a table for two as I was celebrating a 2 year anniversary with my girlfriend. I was disappointed to hear that apparently my booking did not exist in their system, despite receiving two email confirmations and a text message. A french man at the entrance made no effort to help, despite me showing proof of my booking simply just told us to eat elsewhere. Hearing "ce n'est pas mon problème" was the cherry on top as I am a native French speaker myself. I cannot review the food therefore and I'm sure it deserves all the praise. However, I have never felt disrespect that much when simply going to a restaurant I booked.

Very poor and pretentious service. Waiters made a mistake pouring a glass of Pinot Grigio for another table but served our table. We said no but they repeated to return to our table to ask if we ordered it. We sent it back 3 times and still ended up with the glass on our bill while getting rushed out of the restaurant. Do not recommend such a pretentious spot unless you want extra charges because they cannot imagine making a simple mistake. Customers shouldn’t be billed for anything sent back multiple times that’s a bare minimum for service, especially at a fine dining restaurant. We deserve better.

The restaurant is magnificent. The cuisine is excellent but perhaps the price is a little excessive... being a seasoned amateur The bill is spicy 😅

Well decorated premises next to Covent Garden. French food, good preparation and correct flavors. A wine list with 2,500 references is a bit overwhelming. The appetizers were the best of the dinner. A crab cake, some homemade macaroni with truffle and a very different, original and excellent-tasting steak tartare. The main course is a venison loin and a beef tenderloin. Good point of both meats. Accompanied by a deer sauce and a wine sauce respectively. For dessert we had some excellent roasted pears. From the beginning we had the feeling that it was late. If you are in the area and are tired of English food it is a good option.

Have been meaning to come here for years. I finally made it, but won’t be back. The decor is very Instagram-able, if that’s what you’re after. Impressive wine list, although marked up 300%. Couldn’t find the bottle of wine I ordered in the cellar and I had a hard time selecting something to eat that was inspiring. Top it off with a soundtrack of cheesy elevator jazz music and you have yourself a mediocre, expensive evening in central London.

I recently dined here and had an amazing experience. The cozy ambiance and friendly, attentive staff made for a perfect meal thanks to Fatmir he made the visit very wonderful. Every dish was flavorful and beautifully presented, with the dessert being a highlight. Highly recommend for great food and service—I’ll definitely be back!

Lunch service at start was spectacularly slow - we waited over 25mins after being seated before someone took our drinks and food order. Main service ok then back to slow again. Main course (chicken dish) disappointing and suspicion of being slightly undercooked. Other dishes were good. Petit four arrived well after our coffees had been finished and bill paid. Left with a poor impression of a restaurant that used to be better.

I think what made me feel more comfortable was the girl on the staff who spoke Spanish 🥹which made me understand the dynamics of the restaurant many more, that really made a difference for me. It was 5 years ago during Christmas time. I went with the family. Expensive, but excellent and unforgettable.

It was an enjoyable experience. The food was good, but not exceptional as I had hoped. It was served luke warm and the flavours were enjoyable.

We have to mark it down one star because the venison was simply too tough to be edible. The waiter agreed, and readily brought back the menu (a perfect response), but it should not have been served. Otherwise, this is a superb restaurant.

Very enjoyable - seating very comfortable and the set lunch was very good. The cheese selection to finish on was excellent. Very helpful waiters; on the ball.

Hi - we love the restaurant but the service was very slow. We waited 20 mins for somebody to take the wine order and then over 20 mins for the wine to arrive . The starters arrived before we had seen the wine which is not the usual order of things. There seemed to be plenty of waiters but many were not easy to make eye contact with !

Excellent from beginning to end. This restaurant manages to maintain consistent standards year after year.

Set lunch was ok. Celeriac and poached egg starter was a bit bland and pork belly main could have been more unctuous, jus was good, veg was a bit tough. I’m not sure I will be rushing back there as there are so many other good options in London. A shame because the service was good and the floral interior, though not to my taste, was well done.

I found this place by searching for "most romantic restaurants" for celebrating our 1st anniversary with my wife. It's definitely a very romantic restaurant and I'm so glad I chose it for such a special anniversary. I had made a reservation long before and stated that I wanted to get a good table, and the table given to us was one of the best tables in the restaurant. The atmosphere in the restaurant was truly incredible, the food was of high quality and the service was impeccable. The grilled chicken was especially delicious. Our waiter (I don't know his name but he was gentleman with glasses) was very helpful and friendly. After asking for the check, we waited a bit too long for it but it wasn't a big problem. Thank you for this nice dinner 😊

French food restaurant with a wide variety of dishes. Incredible atmosphere and service and great selection of wines. I tried both the pasta and the tartare, both of which were very good. Second meat also very well cooked and just right. The wine we chose was an Italian vintage, I don't understand wine but it was good. The only negative is that the portions are somewhat small. Haute cuisine does not have to be at odds with the quantity on the plate.

Nice meal in unique surrounds. The food was good, particular highlights including the venison, beef and a chocolate soufflé. Took circa 15 mins to get our table. Not a big issue and they brought us a glass of fizz (though why Prosecco I’ve no idea) while we waited. The food is sensibly priced and if you look very hard there’s the odd bottle which is too, though I do think the mark-up on most of the list is beyond the pale even by London standards. Overall, a jolly evening.

Clos Maggiore is always of a very high standard of food, service, and ambience, and it is very good value for the quality offered.

Fabulous lunch to finish off a short trip to London!

This restaurant is more about style than substance. Some of the wait staff were friendly, others pretentious. The pre-theater menus are indeed a good deal, but otherwise the a la carte menu is obviously more expensive and the options challenging. We had to wait almost half an hour to be seated for our reserved time although we arrived promptly. Table was located at a banquet in the corner and we felt rather stuffed in. Had to hand plates as waiters could not reach in.

I felt fleeced visiting this fancy place, in my eloquent mouth leaving a bitter after taste. Food is average for a world class star, food below par. For baby size portion, the price is extortion. Pretty lights and decor, will not make me come back for more. The only thing to write home about was the sourdough and the potato mash with truffle, Rest I was ready to leave asap with my duffle.

Celebrated our 38th wedding anniversary at Clos Maggiore and had a table in the main restaurant by the fire , restaurant is stunning and food is amazing, a truly beautiful evening ended with a gift from the chef

Everything was just lovely, had to change my booking from 12 to 12.30 but it was no problem. Food was great, could come with a bit more sides but that’s only a minor suggestion. Beautiful presentation and service was very good without being over the top. 5 stars

Beautiful restaurant! The service was excellent and the food was wonderful! Small portions, as are typical of French restaurants, but perfect size for me.

This was the perfect spot for a romantic dinner before the theater. The noise level was just right - quiet enough to have a conversation, but not so quiet you felt like you were eating in a library. The service was attentive but not intrusive and well-paced. Would definitely come back the next time we're in town!

The service was appalling for a restaurant of this price level. There was a lack of the attentiveness and the graciousness one expects. (This was a Monday evening so the A-Team may not have been on their day off). The waiting staff also seemed both untutored and reluctant to provide service. This restaurant the prides itself on its comprehensive and expensive wine list, yet the "sommelier" neither knew the list, where to find regional varieties within it, nor was able to give credible guidance. The food was on average good. Overall a very disappointing, expensive experience I have no desire to repeat.

We did not have a great experience despite the food and ambience being excellent..ages in the holding area, had to ask for service more than once and when it came it was not the greatest, which you expect for £90ph... we did get a response direct from feedback to the restaurant ..so hope this was a one-off

We had a fantastic meal when we visited yesterday. We had the vegan tasting menu with wine paring which was fantastic. Every course was well presented and you could taste the time and effort that had been put into each dish to make it a culinary masterpiece. Our servers were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for us, they were so knowledgeable and friendly, We loved our experience and wanted to thank the management for making it extra special. Such a beautiful and romantic restaurant and we can’t wait to come back soon.

The ambiance was amazing. They gave us a table in the middle of the room, in front of the fireplace. The tasting menu and the Premium Wine Pairing was great. The staff was very nice and we had a great overall experience. If we visit London again we will definitely come back here.

Been here every time we have visited London but this latest time they were off their game. Service was slow And confused. Food was served cold and we were rushed out so they could turn the table. Wine service didn’t exist. Not the Clos Maggiore it used to be

Every restaurant can have a bad night and for us, at great expense, was last night. Over packed and understaffed. Poor to no service. Servers and Sommelier actually running thru the ding rooms to serve. Food presentation nice, but way overpriced for such small portions ( and this was not a tasting menu). Wines incredibly marked up to higher prices than New York. We are not cheap and dine out in many more expensive restaurants, but I could not recommend this place if visiting London. Too many great places for fine dining to go thru this.

Overrated.... We went and the atmosphere was cute but we ended up on the second floor and definitely not as great. The waiter was not friendly at all. The food was meh. Definitely recommend going somewhere else. Not worth the price.

We have celebrated a few times at Clos Maggiore and it’s one of our favourite restaurants in London. The conservatory is beautiful and can’t fault the food or staff. We have enjoyed it every single time, thank you so much to the whole team!

Clo's Maggiore is a culinary gem in the city, offering an unforgettable Italian dining experience. The warm ambiance and elegant decor set the perfect stage. The fresh tagliatelle al tartufo was a highlight, perfectly al dente in a rich truffle sauce. The osso buco was tender, paired with saffron risotto that complemented it beautifully. The extensive wine selection, including a fantastic Barolo, enhanced the meal. Dessert, a light tiramisu, was the perfect finish. Impeccable service made the evening even more enjoyable. A must-visit for any cuisine lovers!

Fantastic evening at Clos Maggiore - the menu and wine list were first class, as always. This visit there were 4 of us and we had a great table mid way though the restaurant. The service was as impeccable as ever. We did stretch our legs on the wine choices so the bill was a tad steep, but choosing more inexpensive wines would bring the cost down. In all, a five star experience and one not to be missed if you’re in Covent Garden.

Typical gourmet french restaurant with emphasis on the ceiling decorations and fancy servers. Ofcourse the food was delicious but that steak was rarer than rare, lucky my pregnant self didnt order that! Monkfish and the pork belly was nice despite ofcourse portions being small … was a nice aniversary dinner and ambience was peaceful 🥂 would consider coming back when I get a payrise :)

We had a great pre-theatre meal at Clos Maggiore. The service was brilliant and the staff were very friendly and attentive. We went for the two-course meal and it was presented and tasted fantastic. I was also impressed by the many different wines that the restaurant had. It was my birthday and they surprised me with a birthday treat!

It’s funny, but candles 🕯️❌ aren’t allowed on desserts here for safety reasons. The waiter said the ceiling could catch fire 🔥 😅 It also wasn’t easy to switch and get a nicely decorated table with flowers. The room with the fireplace is almost impossible to get into😐

So beautiful here. We did the tasting menu and was really delicious and reasonably priced. I’m pregnant and they managed to swap dishes out to suit pregnancy. They made us feel very special and the service was outstanding. Thank you for a brilliant evening

Booked this for my 26th birthday. The service and ambience are lovely. However, the food, for what it is was very overpriced and somewhat underwhelming. We got the tasting menu so we could sample multiple dishes and yet we were both still quite hungry by the end, can’t say I’ve ever felt that with a tasting menu before. I thought the monkfish and venison were quite under seasoned and lacked the flavour and complexity fine dining dishes should have. I’ve wanted to try this restaurant for years but unfortunately I don’t think I will be returning.

It was wonderful! The ONLY issue I might raise is that the menus were a bit dirty. But of course, this was of no consequence.

The decor ambiance of the restaurant are lovely, it’s a very romantic environment. The quality/taste of food does not measure up to the price. Our service started out great, on par with what’s typical of high end restaurants. We really didn’t like one course and opted not to finish it, our server noticed the full plates and offered us an alternative option which was greatly appreciated. We had no intent of complaining or asking for a replacement dish-anytime you order something you run the risk of not enjoying it, that’s not the fault of the server or chef, and I don’t feel it’s their responsibility to offer an alternative. With that being said, our server proactively offered and given the high price and small portions we agreed to accept another (much better) dish. The service tapered off after this, we felt as though we’d somehow insulted/upset our server by not finishing our course and accepting the offer for a replacement. We waited much longer between courses and our service was much slower/less interactive compared to the tables around us. Once we finished our dessert it took upwards of 30 minutes to receive the check. By the time we were paid out we couldn’t wait to leave. Overall, I couldn’t recommend eating here based on our experience with the food and service and would not return in the future, however, the menu does change seasonally and the table next to us ordered a different tasting menu and seemed to really enjoy everything.

My first visit was excellent. However having been several times since and then missed a reservation - although physically attended to say I wasn't able to stay for the lunch; and I was still charged the £80 cancellation fee. Which I felt was a little too Draconian.

Service was appalling, was sat for over thirty minutes before the waitress could spare their precious time and come with the bill. Needed to repeatedly ask for demands before they were met. Considering that its a restaurant with such high reviews I was taken by surprise by such an abysmal service.

We had a very nice meal at this lovely restaurant but our evening was let down by the very slow service. Everything took too long including just getting through the door. After 1.5 hours we were still waiting for our main courses. We had to abandon dessert and coffee as we had a show to see. I thought allowing two hours for dinner would be sufficient, particularly when having booked for 17:00.

We didn’t find this restaurant to be at the level suggested by the ratings. Rather cramped (our hostess invited us to wait for our table in “the lounge” which is about the size of a phone booth with four other couples crammed in). She said she’d bring us the drinks list but never returned. Our rather surly waiter commented on my dietary restriction in a voice loud enough for the surrounding guests to hear. This restaurant has the general feeling of a place you’d go for a prom date if your parents were footing the bill.

Double booked our table, cooked chicken not to my liking and after flies landed in my drink only replaced the glass.. not the drink. Unfortunate but not recommended

My amazing partner booked us a table here tonight...I was in total ore of this restaurant. Thr most romantic place we have ever been. The food was second to none and melted in our mouth. We was so impressed that we are even thinking of hiring the private dining for our wedding next year. If I could give you guy 100 out of 100 I would. Magical. Thank you for an amazing experience. We will definitely be coming back.

Greeted by a lovely, polite and friendly moroccan lady. Felt the overall warmth right away! Amazing food. Each bite was delicious and so very worth the price . We celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary this night. Lots of people but not loud and happy to have been able to get this booking. They were lovely and gave a complimentary dessert which had the anniversary writing on the plate. The salmon / cod dish with truffle mash was exquisite to say the least! The lamb/chops dish was so soft and delicate. Flavour in every single bite ! The chef is clearly wonderful! The decor is picturesque and nice music playing. Our waiter Amir from Albania waiter was also very friendly, smiling and accommodating. Great experience overall. Would return

Excellent food and a beautiful space. The Maître, who initially greeted me, was friendly and helpful. I was early and was directed to the waiting room being told I could order a drink. When someone did come, I had to remind them that I hadn't ordered a drink yet as he was taking the menus away without checking if I had ordered a drink. The service at the table was good but not as attentive as I saw with two other tables which I assume were spending more.
