Tea served in latte glasses and made from hot water out of a coffee machine. Tasted gross. Food was ok apart from black pudding was so over cooked almost flew off the plate when cut into. A family came in for breakfast with Santa and it looked truly awful. “Santa” was dressed in the cheapest, shabbiest outfit. He tried to talk to the kids but it looked very awkward and weird. I think they are charged £11.99 per child for food and a gift. So awful I couldn’t believe what I witnessed. Also the lighting was so bad that you could barely see. (The cafe doubles up as an Indian restaurant at night). All in all the food was just ok. The waitress was really inexperienced and looked miserable. The only reason I gave it a 3 was because it was cheap and the food was hot at least. Defo will not return.

Pier 5 is a truly great spot for a relaxed evening out. Located right by the river in Chatham Maritime, it boasts a fantastic feel-good atmosphere. The extensive drinks menu is a real highlight, offering everything from proper real ales and a great selection of lagers to a wide variety of whiskeys, gins, and much more. Whether you're after a classic pint or something a little stronger, they've got you covered. My recent evening there was fantastic. Enjoying a good drink and some delicious food while watching the river flow by was a real treat. The view across the River Medway is a definite plus. One thing that really stood out was how comfortable the outdoor seating area is, even when the evening gets cooler. They've thoughtfully provided plenty of heaters, making it a warm and inviting space to relax late into the night. When it comes to food, you absolutely have to try their loaded fries. The "mucky" options are particularly amazing – I highly recommend the Mucky Swine loaded fries with spiced fries, crispy streaky bacon, cheddar and mozzarella cheese, house burger sauce, and BBQ sauce. They also do a Messy Cow version with beef chilli and jalapeños which sounds equally tempting! The portions here are generous, especially the chicken wings. You can get a 0.25 kilo portion or go all out with a 0.5 kilo or a 1 kilo shareable (or not!) amount. They're tossed in a secret recipe house blend seasoning, and you can choose your preferred sauces If you're looking for a relaxed and enjoyable evening in Chatham with great food, a huge drinks selection, and a lovely riverside setting, Pier 5 is definitely worth a visit. The added bonus of ample outdoor heaters makes it a comfortable choice even on cooler nights. Just make sure you try those incredible loaded fries and the generous chicken wings!

Great example of a proper British pub. Darts, pool, live bands and real ales. There’s even a big friendly dog that will certainly let you stroke him. Great place to come with kids or on a Sunday, the atmosphere is unmatched. Mind ye head, the ceiling can be low in spots.

Sadly despite Costa’s recent change of dog policy, They would not allow me in with my dog, so no coffee for me. This is the only early morning coffee spot in the town centre, which is also a tourist trap, and not allowing dogs seems very short sighted. Many solo travellers don't want to tie their dog up outside, so will avoid completely. Very dissapointed.
