The best cafe ever I been to... Homemade cheese n onion pie always perfect same with the potato and peas

Stopped off in Cleveleys for a bite to eat after cycling the coastline, decent food, great prices and friendly staff, will call again.

Absolutely fantastic service and the food is excellent. Very cheap too. The menu is very varied, and always fresh...the Steak Pie is to die for 😋😋

First visit to this lovely little cafe and most definitely won't be the last. The food, staff and cleanliness was second to none.Great value too.

Third time my mum and I have been here. Greatest cafe we know. Great, honest and reasonably priced food. Lovely service. Look forward to coming back.

Always had good experience but now I will never go in there again. My friend and I are disabled and have mobility walkers, I asked one of the staff where we can put them, to which she replied we are going to ban these from the cafe they are a nuisance. I thought as my friend did she was rude and against disabled people. We both walked out and we will never go in there again. There are lots of eating places in cleveleys don't need to feel inferior. Think twice if you are disabled with a walker !!!!

Big breakfast x 2 but unable to eat the black hard bacon I’m surprised they actually served it as was so chard and hard , go in there quite a lot as well very disappointing , we was asked if ok but had grandaughter with us and just wanted to leave

Because this cafe looks nice from the outside we ventrued in. We were hoping for tea /coffee with a slice of cake as advertised. My wife was catered for, but me - being gluten free - i was not. We were just told we dont do gluten free. So this was our last visit

Lovely food arrived very quickly and hot. Waitress ( Tracy ) was very attentive . Definitely recommend this cafe.

Just called in here as I was visiting Cleveleys for the day. The food was home cooked and it also tasted delicious. It was also very reasonably priced. The service was excellent also with friendly helpful staff. 5 star rating all the way from me.

We have been here before many times before and had the 3 course special it was lovely the soup was tasty and piping hot the roast dinner was lovely followed by 2 scoops of ice cream very good value. The cafe is clean and the staff are both friendly and efficient!

Poor value for money. Food was either warmed up or hot-held for too long. Tea was weak and the cup was chipped.

been twice now 1st time i felt the guy sat down who was obviously the owner watching me as though i was doing a runner made me laugh 2nd time i took my wife mum and boy last saturday staff were really friendly and the food is fresh and tasty i will be going again tomorrow beats the all you can eat down the road hands down plus when you work it out fresher food and cheaper staff are friendly as well as my son walked to the till said table 11 and scanned my card

Found the prices ok, just the staff need to cheer up, very abrupt manner and on the rude side , not a hint of a smile from any of them

Very busy and popular cafe in Cleveleys and rightly so. We both ordered the homemade cheese pie with chips and mushy peas which at a shade under 6 quid each offered excellent value for money. It arrived pipping hot and we could clearly tell it...

We visited on Tuesday 16th November 2021. I can honestly say that the food and service was lovely. Hot tasty fish and chips ,followed by pie and custard , washed down with a nice cup of tea. The staff work very had to take orders...

Very friendly greeting on entering and throughout , fish and chips fresh and piping hot would definitely recommend , they also have very clean disabled toilet.

Ordered the liver and onions, surprised they didn’t serve mash with it. Had boiled potatoes, in my mind it’s easy enough to make mash from boiled. Liver was not consistent some over cooked, some under cooked, some perfect. Won’t be back in a hurry

This is a good place to have a well cooked meal with pleasant staff and a good menu we really enjoyed our meal and will be returning.

We visited for breakfast - the older lady with white hair was so miserable and rude - then the sausage barm arrived - a cheap and nasty sausage that did not fill half the barm - horrible - will definately not return

We came here on a busy day and practically the only place with a free table. Good service and very competitive prices but I’d rather pay more for a bigger portion etc.

Went with my parents today. Food was amazing as was the service. We had 2 fish & chips & lamb dinner. If I was being ultra critical I’d much prefer a Heinz ketchup bottle instead of cheap sachets!

If you’ve had enough of fish and chips, the place to go is Carousel. The food is genuinely home made and the portions generous. Try the lamb Henry, it’s to day for as is the braised steak. They also have a large range of salads and huge sweets. The owner, Martin, is friendly and will make you what you want. Love the place. Oh and try the All day breakfasts. See if you can finish them because they’re so generous!

I am fortunate enough to live in Cleveleys and go here every week (as do many other locals). The food is excellent as is the service. My advice to visitors is go where the locals go and you won't go far wrong.

Walking past the establishment on wednes day I noticed they now had a billboard outside advertising there specials on which they had a price for both tea and coffee well done

Got to sadly agree with the review Tracie did. Been going for close to twenty years and it doesn't seem as friendly as the days that older lady worked there for what seemed like forever. Maybe a big turnover in staff? Three course is now 7.75 which is overpriced when one course is liquid food and dessert is vanilla ice cream and no juice or chance to pick a different flavour. One wafer that was pretty soft. The chips were low on potato and the fish was hollow like they have cut back on portion sizes.

The café is clean and welcoming. The staff are polite and helpful and knew what went into the meals that were on the menu. The food was freshly made as per order, so hot, and really tasty, ample portions.

Lovely home cooked food at reasonable prices. Staff are efficient & pleasant. The cafe does have the usual busy times around lunchtime but you can usually manage to get a table.

visited this establishment yesterday 05/06/2019 my wife wanted the oap special fish chips and a pot of tea but not being a tea drinker we asked if she could replace the pot of tea with a cup of black coffee no was the reply its a special and you have to have it has stated i was then told i could order the small fish and chips and the coffee seperate having checked the menu i found it would cost a pound more but the difference between tea and a black coffee on the menu was 10p which i then offered to pay but was told no a special is a special so i pointed out that coffee drinkers were being ripped off ive been to many establishments who do these specials that advertise tea with a meal but when asked if i could change to a coffee ive never been refused before ok sometimes you pay the difference between the two but that is acceptable but to be totally refused has never happened before i would suggest the owners of this establishment wake up to the principle that not everyone is a tea drinker needless to say i left without ordering pointing out that if youve a coffee drinker you are not the mug the coffee comes in

as you can see from previous reviews i have raved about this place and i would not eat anywhere else in Cleveleys,but i say with a heavy heart that standards are slipping? i had steak pie n chips gravy,i must say was fine, but what embarassed me and my husband was that we took my mother in law for her birthday that day and was raving on about how fantastic the roast meals were here,and so she and my hubby ordered 2 Roast Beef set dinners with the juice and ice cream dessert.juice fine,although waited quite awhile to eventually get served while the young waitresses standing against the wall decided to come? but hey ho.... then when the lunches arrived oh what a dissapointment....beef one slice,one boiled potatoe,cabbage hard and very unappetising carrots ok,just... my mom in law barely touched hers,the saving grace for them was that they upgraded their ice cream to apple pie n custard and thar saved the meal as was excellent,so my jam sponge n custard,, hence the lower markings ive given reflects this...i dont know why but the friendly ambiance you always used to get in here is gone,and the owner(Guy in white jacket who stares at you from counter) makes you feel you are just a imcumberance ...never thought id say this but i wont be coming back ill try Cafe Renoir or Cleveleys Kitchen, who have now found out do far superior meals,massive home made yorkies,loads of spuds n gravy,self serve at counter,but brought to table,appetising veg, prompt service, and no one staring down the restaurant at you either.. sad day for us as didnt think id go eleswhere after 13 years but put me off going back,atmosphere awful..Least the Apple pie saved the day...

Popped in here for lunch after a wander around, ordered and food came quickly. Small breakfast was exactly that, which was expected. But the price was a little steep. I had a sandwich which came open, was £4.10 for 2 slices of processed ham, a bit of salad, the bread was thin and looked to have been pre buttered and had gone little hard. Staff were friendly and the place was busy and clean. Just have to say was disappointed, the meal deal seemed reasonable as did the offers for oaps.

Really enjoyed our meal there was no waiting at all my mum had the OAP special fish chips &pot; of tea all for £3.25 it was freshly cooked and quite enough for my mum I had the prawn jacket potatoes large coffee and a Sprite in all it cost £10 50 good value

Called in over the easter weekend and wish we hadn't bothered. We had the worst two meals in a cafe for many a year. I had the cheese and onion pie which came with potatoes that had been boiled so much they had mashed themselves, my wifes fish and chips came with hair as one of the ingredients, when we told the owner all they did was bring another small plate of chips not even an apology. Awful food awful service.

second time here, the place has not changed, is still excellent and good value for money, place was packed but managed to get a table within a few minutes. friendly staff and quick service. can highly recommend any of their homemade pies

i had the steak pie and my hubby roast chicken,jelly and cream after and my hubby apple pie n custard. we ALWAYS visit here for our food and wont eat anywhere else in the daytime....ive yet to have a bad meal and ive tried most of the menu...their trifles are also a delight when on...and also my hubby always has the apple pie his fave..they get busy so you may have to wait to be seated but its worth the wait!!! you dont wait long to be seen and served either...weLOVE THIS PLACE

We have been several times since living in the area and it never fails to please us it’s all home made I had a roast dinner and my husband had liver and chips it’s the best food you can get and the staff are all really friendly and a lovely clean definitely can recommend them

Well what can I say that’s positive? A busy Cafe with attitude in a terrible way? My friends and I were looking for a pit stop and visited this cafe. After sitting waiting at a table of four, for over 10 mins, a young girl came over and said they didn’t do green tea? We asked if the had honey and on her return she asked us to leave as they didn’t just serve drinks only food and drinks?

Tables very clean, staff very quick to serve and clear away and very polite. Good prices for the food.

Cleveleys cottage a little gem of a diner. Food not expensive but of a great quality, staff are very polite and attentive of the needs of their customers, moving chairs and tables to ensure comfort and safety. Just had Sunday lunch three courses for £7.20 soup was tasty, roast beef and Yorkshire puddings super, ice cream is what it is.

Visited here in July and found it by accident. Great menu, food made to order. I got the all day breakfast and it was really good and reasonably priced. Would recommend if you’re looking for home cooked ft.

This is one, very inexpensive, no frills "lunch cafe" right on the busiest retail area of Thornton Cleveleys.. Arrived around 1.15pm, cafe pretty busy, but still found a table inside (outside option). Ordered one roast chicken main course, one tuna salad and two coffees and scones to follow. £16 in total. Food was delicious, came piping hot - portions were extremely generous, (particularly the salad - must have been a whole tin of tuna). Also a good place to eat especially if you are attempting to feed a couple of kids who are fussy eaters, as the food is excellent.

I visited this cafe with friends who go there regularly. We were not disappointed. The toasted teacakes were enough to keep me going till teatime.

Clean and inviting with a super menu, especially for the "more mature person!" I had the pensioners' liver and bacon and it was a good sized portion served piping hot. I followed this with the cherry pie which again was an ample portion. The Cottage Café does a roast as well as great fish and chips and other daily "specials" and I was not surprised it was ever so busy with many of them regulars who know when they are onto a good thing!

Called in during the Easter weekend decided to have the fish and chips which was sourced locally from Fleet wood, it was the best fish and chips I had tasted in a long time, and that's being honest. It was not greasy or dripping in oil, it was not flooding on the plate, the chips were cooked fresh and the tartar sauce was tasty. Staff where friendly and the cafe was clean its not fine dining, its not a restaurant but its good honest food.

I had a lovely breakfast, pot of tea, my partner had cheese toastie and a cappuccino. Food was great. Service quick, friendly waitress. Toilets were impeccable. Couldn't fault it in any way. Our first visit, will definitely be back.

Place seems very nice. Table service. We did wait a while before someone took our order. Prices are very reasonable and decor is nice and the food came quite quickly but toast on breakfast was very dark and on the bacon toastie it was burnt...

Always have my usual fish chips and mushy peas it's delicious but have tried other meals from the menu before and we find the food very tasty. My husband loves the steak pie. Lovely cup of tea and the deserts are amazing, my favourite is the cherry pie & custard. Will be back again soon, absolutely love the place.

Tea was enough for 1 cup. No extra water provided. No soya milk. My mum had a scone and the waitress didn't ask if she wanted jam and cream nor did she give her chance to ask. No tea spoon was given with our teas we had to use the knife provided for the scone. I know I shouldn't expect much for an establishment from round here, but it's basic knowledge to serve tea with a spoon? But very clean!

The staff were friendly, the service was fairly quick as the café was quite busy.I only had a scone as a snack and the other meal was the small portion of fish and chips.Disappointed with the cream and jam scone for a couple of reasons. The scone itself was quite dry and generally, the cream and jam should come served in small pots. The cream did but the jam was one of those plastic containers and didn't taste of anything in particular.The fish and chips was a small portion as described but on the whole looked very pale and insipid. Hardly any colouring in the batter at all on the fish and the chips had no colour either. However, it seems the meal itself tasted ok.We had a pot of tea for two and we were happy enough with the tea.It was a little chilly inside even though the café was full by the time we left.We visit Cleveleys at least once a week, sometimes twice and almost always end up in the same café as we visit with friends/family. This time we were on our own - hence trying somewhere different.Unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations and it's for this reason I've marked it as "average" and the word "disappointing" in the title.A couple of other things I noticed which could be better - 2 staff coats / jackets were hung over the back of the chairs at a table for 2 people by the toilets. These should be hung elsewhere and out of sight.The children's' highchairs stacked by the food counter had a spray bottle of cleaning liquid sitting on the top of them along with a couple of cleaning cloths. Whilst it's good to see that things do get cleaned, there's a right and a wrong place to keep them.Maybe we will give it the benefit of the doubt and try it again sometime in future. Perhaps it was having a bit of an off day......

Visited with me and my grandma, good option for the OAPS of offering a smaller portion. Had the lamb very nice also the steak pie again very nice for the price. Grandma had the jelly and ice cream. Staff pleasant but felt a bit rushed.Day was cold however felt a bit cold inside.Overall good meal.

Decided to take my three year old for a little lunch after a busy morning at school, even though it was extremely busy the waiting on staff (a blond lady) were delightful and so polite and smiley. The vegetable soup was a complete triumph, children's sausage and chips were lovely and none left over, the strawberry milkshake was scrummy (as my 3 year old put it) a true treasure. This is a traditional English café with a lovely atmosphere. Staff are warm, friendly and helpful and the food is delicious, particularly the fish and chips. Competition in this area is fierce as there are a large number of cafes and so to survive, cafes must offer decent food. This little café has easily stood the test of time.

Mum asked to go to this place especially for the pensioners special fish and chips as the do a small portion size which she likes. She is 85years young and enjoys a visit when we come to Blackpool

Popped in here for a quick bite to eat while on holiday. Although extremely busy, service was quick and friendly. I had pensioners special of haddock, chips and cup of tea for only £3.15. Beautiful fish, light non-greasy batter and proper home made chips. My friend had baked potato with tuna which she thoroughly enjoyed. Just disappointed we were only passing through as we'd have liked to sample lots of other things on the menu!!
