Called in for a bowl of soup, order taken at 12.30. A couple of requests that were politely nodded. I ally arrived 35 minutes later . Didn’t have time to eat it all and to top it off they snook a stale piece of bread under a fresh piece ! The tea , which had arrived earlier was cold by now. I asked a couple of times why I had to wait so long and the answers ranged from problems in the kitchen to oh, we just take the order but have nothing to do with the food ?? . Crikey, what an experience . No offer of a refund at all and just got blanked on my way out. Very poor customer service and quite annoyed at the reaction of staff. Won’t be back

Customer service here is appalling. I was buying some bread & teacake to take away. Lady who served me was chatting away with other member of staff who was on his brake. Not his fault. As I was getting served she said his name about 4 times. Not a word to me. No thanks. Nothing. Really rude.

Called in on the spur of the moment for brunch with my partner. Cafe is lovely and airy with great selection of breads baked on the premises. Waitress was great. Helpful, chatty and attentive. Food and drinks arrived quickly and were really good. Simple but delicious and plenty of vegetarian options to choose from. I even purchased a dish which had been produced by one of the residents at the farm/school. A one off piece that was excellent value. We shall return next time we're in Darlington.

We'd never been to this cafe before, but our usual place was shut so we decided to pop in. We got the coffee and walnut cake and were horrified to find mould on the bottom when we were halfway through eating it. You can see in the photos the black, green and white mould on the entire bottom of the cake. When given back to the staff they said it was 'just from the slate' and 'wasn't mould.' You'd have to be blind to not see that this is mould. To call yourself an artisan bakery and serve this is disgraceful. No apology was given and we were sniggered at when we pressed that it was mould. They just denied it. Bad service and bad food. I don't know how they have a 5 star hygiene serving food like this.

My mother and I met some friends here for morning coffees. It's a nice space, light and airy, although very echoey. The service was friendly, if not altogether accurate. There was a nice choice of cakes. The scones were huge and delicious...however by late morning they had run out of both scones and tea cakes. Toilets were spotless. Parking nearby is an issue.

I took my elderly mum for a light lunch on a quiet Thursday around midday. The place looked lovely in the sun and the fresh produce in the shop looked great. There’s lovely quirky pottery on sale, which is made by students at the farm. That’s the good bit. Disappointingly, the service was really slow, the waitress was blunt and unfriendly, and the food was inedible. Tomato soup which tasted of thin greasy chicken stock (tomato-coloured, but no flavour), mixed pepper quiche was hard and tough and tasted of nothing, and the most gorgeous brown bread ever. What is going on? I would never go back - not even for the bread!

Went for breakfast today with my husband and in-laws. Our first time and when we arrived it seemed a very relaxed placed. Ordered our food at the counter and waited with high hopes. Our drinks turned up eventually and the black coffees looked like dish water and tasted the same. After 35 minutes the "breakfasts" turned up. The mushroom omelette arrived on the plate swimming in oil. Turned it over and totally black. Bacon sandwich 2 slices of bacon cooked so much that you could snap it in half and the bread so hard you could not cut it with a knife. Then the full breakfasts turned up!!! Bacon the same, plate swimming in grease, black pudding no words. Everyone left their meal. We complained and although they said they were having a few problems nobody else had complained!?!? They did refunded our meal as they could see the plates had hardly been touched but what a disappointing morning. Will not go back.

Went with my daughter for a lunch time treat. The cafe is lovely, plenty of room to manoeuvre and so light and airy. I went to order, my first choice wasn’t available, my second choice not available so I went for the penne pasta. It was a good size portion. Service was very slow and our meals arrived after 40 mins wait and I had to ask for our drinks. We only had a soft drink, the waitress brought the glasses and bottles over and didn’t even open the bottle. It wasn’t particularly busy.

My husband and I used to come here often for lunch but we haven’t been for a while as it was closed for whatever reason, we decided to pay a visit a few days ago and left feeling so disappointed. The menu has changed quite a bit and as a vegetarian I struggled to find something appealing to eat but eventually settled on an omelette but I would have preferred something different or something I couldn’t have whipped up myself so I was disappointed with as I can make an omelette at home. My husband decided on the organic meal of the day burger with potato wedges and side salad, we both ordered hot drinks too, I ordered a latte with caramel syrup and my husband ordered a hot chocolate, we waited quite a while for the drinks which both were lukewarm and 40 minuets later we were still waiting for our food. Eventually the food arrived but on the first mouthful I had I found eggshell, my husbands organic burger looked pathetic, it was served on a dry bun and looked so unappealing and over cooked too, he took one bite and said it was disgusting so it got returned and he got a refund. The staff were unhelpful and were obviously put out so we definitely won’t return there again and I definitely wouldn’t recommend them.

Haven't been for a while and as it's the holidays thought we would treat ourselves to a family breakfast out. Chose Clervaux as I remembered a great full English and a healthy muesli option too. We were told when we arrived that they didn't do muesli since the cafe had changed hands but they had yoghurt in its place. The original used to have a good sized portion of oats and bouts and dried fruit served with yoghurt, milk, berries etc. What I got was a smear of natural yoghurt, no more than two tablespoons of granola (which was nice), 5 raspberries and a handful of blueberries for £4.95. I told the waitress I could have eaten three times a much. The children's full English was missing its black pudding. We asked and they said they had run out! We waited twenty minutes and it arrived separately having been sent out for. The breakfast was nice quality but we were disappointed we weren't told items weren't available when we ordered. Our bill was £27.57 for two breakfasts, the yoghurt and a sausage sandwich all with tea.Shame it's not like it used to be.

This place used to make my favorite sandwiches. Excellent ingredients presented beautifully. The service was always a bit slow and the prices high but it was worth it. The last time I went in I ordered a ham sandwich to take away. They kept me waiting ages before I was able to get my order and go. The sandwich ended up being a few slices of ham in a hard bread roll with some sort of tomato chutney splattered all over it. No salad, just a soggy mess. I have no idea what took them so long. They have the cheek to charge nearly a fiver for this. I want to support local businesses, but I won't be going to this cafe ever again.

This is a lovely restaurant situated at the rear of their artisan bakery and bread shop, with a unique glass roof giving it a light yet cosy feel. The menu is very tempting and they have lovely home made Homity pie and selected quiches. All produce is produced locally most of it on their own farm in nearby Croft. Its a registered charity.I love to eat in the restaurant but several times I've arrived to find a mothers and childrens party is in full swing making it crowded, noisy and stressful. I feel they should mak eit clearer when these events are on so you don't get caught up one and have your meal spoilt as I did.

We eat here on a regular basis. But, the last couple of visits have been disappointing.Today, we ordered the Bishops Rarebit, with two poached eggs, and poached eggs on toast, with tea and coffee.Service was very slow- the girl behind the counter didn't seem to know what she was doing.None of the regular staff seemed to be there, where have they gone ?The food arrived before the tea and coffee- they said they had a backlog of drinks orders (but there were hardly any customers in).The tea was served in a coffee cup "because they had run out of teacups".The food was very poor. The poached eggs were all hard, either cooked that way or gone hard while waiting to be delivered to the table. The Bishops Rarebit, usually comes with chutney and salad- this came with neither.Just a slice of cheese on toast with two "hard boiled" poached eggs.We were told that they had run out of chutney- but they had jars of chutney on the counter for sale, just none to put on the plate. Don't know what happened to the salad. My wife ordered a bowl of salad to go with her poached eggs on toast and received a bowl of bean shoots.I don't know what is happening here, but something is wrong. No-one even came over to ask if the food was OK as they usually do. They don't seem to care.We won't be rushing back.

I don't think that this place gets the attention that it deserves as it's a little out of the way in the busy town of Darlington. Even though it is in the heart of the town, it is at the end of one of the main roads so this seems to restrict the amount of people who know about it or who walk on passed. It's a shame as it's a lovely little place and the bread smell is amazing. Definitely need to make the time/effort to venture to visit.

Popped in for a coffee and a scone. While the service was fast, the scone was vey poor. You'd expect a bakery to get this kind of thing right! It was icy cold in the middle which lead me to believe it had been frozen and defrosted. If that's the case, it's unacceptable. The butter was also so hard that you just had to put it on in a big lump, it was impossible to spread. It had an overwhelming taste of a strong herb - I suspect rosemary - and there was very little cheese in it. They certainly looked appetising (although I'm not sure how much I like the waitress picking it out of the basket with her bare hands, not very hygienic) but were very disappointing. I'll not be rushing back.

We have been regular visitors to Clervaux in Darlington over the last three years or so and on most occasions have been perfectly satisfied with both the food and service. However, on our last three visits we have noted a disappointing deterioration in standards. Last week we arrived, at lunchtime, to find the cafe half empty which somewhat surprised us as we have frequently had to wait for a table to become available. We decided to order our favourite, Homity Pie, but when we asked what the accompanying salads were we were told that only potato salad and a basic leaf salad were available. The very polite young girl informed us that this was because food was no longer being made on the premises as all food preparation procedures had been centralised at a unit at Morton Park and from there food was simply being 'shipped out' to the Darlington branch and Olivia's their sister branches in Thirsk, Northallerton and Stokesley. As Homity Pie is largely potato based neither us fancied yet more potato to accompany it so we opted instead for the salad garnish which amounted to no more than a sliver of tomato, a shaving of cucumber and two minuscule, limp baby lettuce leaves! The Homity Pie, sadly had fallen from glory too, the potato chunks used to be bound together by a delicious creamy, cheesy, caramelised onion sauce but today's offering was no more than boiled potato wedges squashed down into a pastry case and topped with a thin sprinkling of cheese! We left hungry and bitterly disappointed that Darlington's 'hidden gem' as we used to call it is no longer up to scratch. Such a shame .....

On first day we tried fruit scones, butter and jam and found scones were very doughy but local jam was delicious. I have been going to clervaux in darlington since the cafe opened and having been a loyal cuctomer for all this time I've finally had enough. All the things what made it a great place are ebbing away. The menu used to be interesting and fresh but now it never changes. The prices continue to rise which I can understand with inflation but for a coffee and a small piece of cold quiche to cost £6.60 it really is getting silly.I also find there is next to no consistency with your order so having had a good meal one week and thinking your in for the same treat the next time can leave you dissapointed when it bears little resemblance to last time and is very poor. Also be prepared for any sort of waiting time on your order,it can be anything from 5-40 minutes or at worst forgotton altogether. All in all it's just too hit and miss now.I do have to say for all the shortcomings as a cafe that throughout all the time I have been going to clervaux the staff are superb and the manager is very lucky to have them.Maggies place all the way for me now.

I have eaten here on many occasions. Recently, it seems to have lost its edge. Just walking in, the bread displays aren't as eye catching as they used to be, the refrigerated displays are very sparse looking. We quite often buy bread from here, but the choice is getting very limited.I often have the 'black pudding brunch'. The black pudding bread isn't as flavoursome as it has been. The poached egg, was very soft, to the point of being returned. But as no one returned to our table, I just ate it. The grilled mushroom is dusted with dried oregano ( I think ). It doesn't bring anything to the dish. Fresh is best, but not oregano. My partners full English looked nice, very bright yellow egg yolk. But cold beans, basic error. Again, as no one returned to us. They were eaten cold. The tea & coffees were good.I know the business changed hands last year and I feel it's since then that things have begun to slip, maybe it's just a coincidence.I probably won't rush back this time. A short walk out of the town centre is Robineaus, which has now become my preferred place.Come on Clervaux, get things back on track.

Although having bought fresh bread on the way to work from Clervaux a number of times, this was the first time I took the time sit down and have a breakfast in cafe. Having never looked at the cafe menu I was expecting to see the usual cafe breakfast menu, Full English, bacon, sausage, egg sandwiches etc. However, upon inspection I was surprised to find mixed in with the traditional, a range of unconventional & creative breakfasts on offer.I have sadly forgotten the name of the breakfast I ordered, but to sum it up, it consisted of some fantastic bacon, a poached egg, a mushroom (I think), on a slice of black pudding bread (yeah black pudding mixed in bread!!!) with some stunning mustard sauce and a small side order of salad (making me feel a little less guilty for eating black pudding bread). The breakfast was a thing of beauty, tasted superb and was well above my expectations, my compliments to the chef. I was the first one in, so little atmosphere until it filled up, which suited me as I could get through the morning paper with little distraction. Great service as usual, efficient, attentive providing service with a smile.

I often meet friends here for coffees and sometimes lunch, and always buy bread and other goodies. Today I had the pleasure of going on a bread making course with Scott. I have been on many courses in my life - and this was simply the best course I have ever done. Brilliantly organised, superbly delivered, outstanding information, and not only did we leave with excellent results a sumptuous lunch was enjoyed by all. Quality food of the standard provided at this artisan bakery and cafe maybe a little bit more expensive, or could take a few moments longer to prepare - personally I don't think it is - it represents excellent value for money in a lovely comfortable environment. We are very lucky in Darlington to have a product offering such high standards of food, we should all support it's ethos. I suspect those not appreciating the offer are in the wrong place. I have always received a very high standard of customer service.

Been here a few times thankfully not spotted any ants which another member mentioned. The Cafe seems nice enough but I do think for what it is it is a little over priced. I don't mind paying over the odds if I come away thinking that was delicious but it really isn't anything special. The scones however are very good!I will keep on going back even if it is just for the scones:D

Used to love this place but something has gone seriously wrong with it. Went for lunch and everything we had was tasteless. We ordered the frittata with salad and everything had no taste whatsoever. The salad was a cucumber salad and although it seemed to have alot of ingredients it tasted of nothing, as did the frittata. To finish we had the banoffee pie and again it was tasteless, the cream tasted watery. Really hope Clervaux can retain its former glory, but on my last two visits I have been very dissapointed

Visited with my daughter and a friend and her son for brunch on Sunday. Requested scrambled egg instead of fried egg for my cooked breakfast and was told it would be extra as it incurred an extra egg considering it's £7.95 thought it was excessive (thankfully I didn't have to pay as swapped the black pudding for an extra egg) my daughter had a ciabatta pizza, which was half of a baguette with two slices of tomato and melted cheese. My friends son had toast which was cut to thickly and dully hurt his mouth both children left their meals unfortunately. Which meant buying brownies at a further £2.25. Don't get me wrong I don't mind paying for food however I don't feel that cleaveux' have the pricing quite right nor is the children's menu..! One of the waitresses is lovely and clearly is made for public facing roles she made the experience more enjoyable !!

I first saw them on Britain's Best Bakery - and wasn't disappointed! It's a lovely cafe in an amazing bakers shop. There's a great choice of bread and cakes (and good coffee) and you can look through the window and watch your bread being made. Everything we had was delicious.Best of all this business helps the Clervaux Trust to support young people and vulnerable adults. You come away feeling the world is a better place :-).

Very nice atmosphere. Staff very friendly, polite, and efficient. Great coffees and fully recommend the full breakfast! Nice lunches too. It is pricier than other places but you pay for local, organic produce and, for example, the bacon isn't the wafer-thin rubbish you might be able to get elsewhere. Some people will always find something to complain about but I think they might struggle here!

It's always a sign of a good restaurant when, although very happy with your own meal, you are constantly oohing and aahing as other meals go past. The artisan baking in this cafe is the basis of most of the meals- a mezze with different types of bread to mop up homemade hummus, a rarebit of melting cheese served on onion bread or a tasty scone served with ruby rich jam.The quirky setting of a glassed in courtyard is friendly and inviting. On Friday fruit and veg are sold in the foyer. I shall return with my husband so he can try the black pudding bread and I shall also do some background reading on the Clervaux trust and its ethos. My appetite has been whetted in more ways than one.

I have seen a few comments on here that mention long waits etc but people should understand that fresh food cooked to order takes time otherwise you could visit those well known fast food outlets. For me the black pudding brunch is worth the wait !

I am new to trip advisor and sadly my first review is negative, hopefully they will be more positive in the future. Firstly I have been going to Clervaux café for two years as I LOVED the concept of the charity, unfortunately I have not enjoyed my last few visits for the following reasons.1 - I queried why my card receipt was showing "Olivias artisan" instead of Clervaux, I asked a member of staff who informed me that the new owner who took over in September is using it as the business name. obviously slightly confused as I was not aware of any change and still thought it ran as a charity hence the name Clervaux outside and in all publicity. Is this still a charity?? i have been informed it isn't and feel slightly mislead i would of appreciated to of been informed that my money spent there was no longer going to a good cause. 2 - I ordered the cheesecake which used to be to die for! they always look so appealing to the eye and i cant resist not having a slice. however i was served by a member of staff with blonde hair? who was wearing it down! I thought all kitchen/waiting staff had to have their hair tied back by law maybe i am wrong, but i would have still appreciated any staff handling MY food to have their hair out of the way. Also as i went to tuck into my cheesecake i noticed it did not look as appealing as usual my first bite confirmed this. I approached a member of staff with brunette hair, tied back! who was running food and explained it tasted off, she apologised and said she would come straight over to amend the problem. she confirmed the cream looked off and i should not of been served this she offered me a refund and I then noticed she removed the remaining cake from the fridge. But there is no excuse to be served off food!3 - went into the café with my son for breakfast, within 30 seconds of our food arriving i spotted an ant heading towards my bacon sandwich, I could excuse the odd ant having no manners, but when i realised there was a good dozen on and around my table i was instantly put off my breakfast. I understand ants can be an nuisance but around food it is very off putting and i have since been back in and noticed the problem is still apparent. What has happened to this once lovely place, sadly will not be returning.

I visit Northallerton regularly, & was so pleased to find food I've been yearning for at Clervaux. Imaginative salads, great food combinations, tempting desserts & patiserie offerings without mountains of heavy cream. Real honest food. The bread is something else! Lovely to take home with me.I've had business meetings and social gatherups there. My friends have been impressed too!! It's great to support this social enterprise.

I recently took my little boy into Clervaux for breakfast and even at 8am in the morning the pancake, bacon and maple syrup was a creation to die for. Superb what someone can create at such an hour. Amazing. In truth I have been going to this cafe since it opened in 2010 and what keeps me returning is the food, the atmosphere, the staff and the values by which the cafe stands by and for. Many people don't realise this cafe has a farm attached to it (clow beck farm), that in season supplies the food from less than 10 miles away, whilst at the same time supports young people with disabilities. They give these people the chance to work in society and provide support and encouragement to do that. When you eat at this cafe you are supporting not only that cause but local farming and your planet. Whats more worth your money than that!!!The bonus is you also get a belly food of local, some organic, good food made in the cafe by amazing chefs. They even have a bakery you can see into from the cafe and all the bread the cafe uses is made right there. The perks of eating at this cafe just get better and better. Thats why I keep returning. On leaving this review I looked at some of the negative ones people have left and in 3 years, yes I have experienced the cafe incredibly busy and sometimes there was a wait for my food. Has the odd person I ate with there not been happy with a member of staff- yes, But before being negative i'd ask people to remember a) staff are human and sometimes they really are just having a bad day. b) the food has never not been worth waiting for and if a cafe is that busy, come on people it can only be A GOOD SIGN. And finally when you compare the service you receive at this cafe, the food you eat there and what your money is supporting against some of the immensely rubbish service you receive at other places, isn't the 1% bad you come across worth putting up with, when 99% precent of the time its incredible. Its time we put things into better perspective people.. because we all know you can come across those cafes where the girls got a face as long as a fiddle and she pretty much acts as though your doing her a bother to actually ask and pay for food- how dare we, LOL.. And i know you've all been in those places where you sometimes feel like your putting the waitress out so much ordering food, that you feel like standing up and doing her job for her so she can get paid to sit on her bum as she appears to want to do.... WE HAVE ALL THAT HAD KIND OF SERVICE, bad food, bad service, poor quality.CLERVAUX CAFE IS NOT THAT KIND OF PLACE OR EXPERIENCE, INFACT ITS THE EXACT OPPOSITE. If you want good food and to support your local community, eat here. Pop in for some bread even a few times a week- i don't know any family who doesn't like homemade bread dipped in egg or packed lunch made with the BEST BREAD you can find.ENJOY THIS BEAUTIFUL CAFE. I ALWAYS DO.

I visited Clervaux for a business meeting recently. I was really impressed with the place. It was had lots of space and really nice conservatory area and a gorgeous smell of bread! The staff were friendly and helpful and advised me on my bread purchase after my meeting. I will look forward to going there again soon.

I used to visit here regularly. I always enjoyed the food and the service was fine. Following being diagnosed with coealiac disease I assumed (wrongly) that somewhere that prides themselves on making bread and cakes on site cannot provide for someone requiring a gluten free diet. I have visited three times for coffee or lunch. There was not one thing on the lunch menu suitable for gluten free diets unless I asked for a salad, which wasn't on the menu. No gluten free cake, no gluten free bread and no apology for the fact there was nothing for me to eat. Staff were rude if anything!

Lovely surrounding at Clervaux cafe, and wonderful bread and pasties, but lunch was disappointing. The rarebit was so boring...... one slice of toast, cheese topping and a smallspoonful of chutney. Some type of salad would have livened things up a little, and a decent serving of chutney. The brunch was good, with a perfectly cooked egg and top quality bacon, but as black pudding was mentioned twice on the menu a small slice on the plate was expected, not just a few crulmbshiding in the toast..Rather lacklustre presentation all round. Chef's day off?

Don't be put off going here - overall it is worth a visit. The food is good and the choice is reasonable. I had a hummus mezze which was served with excellent breads - this could have been put on a plate and served within 10 minutes but sadly it took closer to 45 mins. Our coffees (both good) were served promptly, but were well gone by the time the food arrived. Our food delay was explained by way of a broken poached egg - and they were apologetic. If you came here in your lunch hour you'd struggle to get back to work within the hour unless you worked at the café itself. The goods in the shop - particularly the breads look inviting. Give this place a try - they just need to get their act together.

28-3-13.We have visited before and been pleased. However, today we ordered two egg sandwiches(One white and one wholemeal) but specifically wanted "soft " bread.(I wanted soft because of sensitive teeth)However, the brown was "hard" and staff seemed indifferent about this .That aside,it was only a very little scraping of egg with a couple of scant salad leaves. For the amount payed it was daylight robbery. It is a shame but we will not visit again. We can be disappointed once but not twice in parting with our hard earned money.

Order was 3 lattes, 1 american & 2 scones. We received 3 lattes & 2 scones. Very little concern was shown when we asked where the americano was & when we eventually received it we were still asked to pay even though the rest of the order was nearly finished!!! Very dissapointing & will think twice before returning.

Called for lunch last week once again lovely food do wish staff would smile and be a little more helpful. taken an elderly lady who found great difficulty in read the board where food is all written up only to see some one ask for a menu to take to the table so I did the same. If only menus where put on tables that would solve a lot of problems.

This cafe suffers from poor service. Staff seem plentiful but are slow and inattentive. Two tills at the entrance are confusing as they are spaced far apart. A simple 'please wait to be seated' arrangement would make a world of difference.Tables are not cleared or wiped down promptly. The waitress brought our food and was going to serve it with the previous guests dirty plates still on the table!Coffee arrived long after the food has been delivered to the table. Found some grit in my salad. My previous visit I found grit and a live caterpillar!Food is tasty though, cakes are lovely and the bread is pricey but tasty. If only they could sort out the poor service and wash the salads properly the place would be super.

Been here for lunch and the food is lovely the one thing I do not like is no menus on the tables. The writing on the boards is small and difficult to see if there are people at the counter ordering food so please menus on tables and I will be one very happy customer.

The food in here is fantastic, everything is organic and freshly made and there is a variety if breads. However I recently went and was disappointed to find they have removed the menus and you have to read the chalk boards around the room and behind the counter. I found this quite annoying as you have to over look tables which people may be eating at and the black board behind the counter has not got very big writing although this was fine for me I think people will struggle to read it and this also does not give you time to relax and have a good look at what you want to eat before ordering. Again fantastic food but I will not be going as often as I did before.

Took my partner last week for brunch, I had a black pudding brunch (black pudding bread topped with poached eggs and bacon) all I can say is 10 out of 10. The atmosphere is busy but relaxing and the staff are friendly and always smiling. We took some cheese and onion bread home with us that was freshly made that morning in there artisan bakery, it was also a nice surprise to find an organic vegetable stall where you can buy locally produced veg (every Friday). All in all a great experience and it's all for a good cause. We will be back.

Popped in on a Saturday around 11am so it wasnt too busy. After wandering around for 5 minutes wondering whether to sit, stand, wait to be seated or just grab a table, a server said hello on the way past and that was it. With no queue apparent and the staff to busy talking to each other, my daughter and I decided to head for a table......first mistake. It dawned on us after a further 15 minutes waiting that we should have been greeted and given a number for our table. There are no signs or any indication that this is the protocol whatsoever. We could see new customers coming in the door and looking totally confused as to what to do.With no further contact from anyone at all, we got up and headed for the door. A split second later, a girl dashed after us asking if everything was ok.......I thought she must have been joking! There are plenty of cafes with owners who really appreciate their customers and this is not one of them. Save your time and money and head elsewhere, we certainly will never be back.

Server would not allow swaps on breakfast menu. Reluctant to call manager. Manager also refused swaps saying this had been stopped by head office. When told other pubs were still allowing it he said it was due to price difference between swap items. When pointed out that they were same price ( poached and fried eggs) he resorted to Head Office instruction. I subsequently checked with Head Office customer service who said they had not issued any such instruction. Swaps were at managers discretion. THE GUY WAS SIMPLY LYING

I normally nip in here for a few when I go to the shops or am passing by and fancy a sneaky beer or 2. Decent bar, bit expensive. I was excited when I saw they had Guinness on, as it's 5 min from where I am - however, it was a bang average pint, it even tasted a bit sharp and bitter, not sure what that was from, but at £6,20 a pint, that is robbery. Guinness is my "go to" , and I'd consider paying that, if I were getting the same quality as in Ireland, but it was miles away. There were also a couple of folk the other night on the sniff and created a bit if an awkward atmosphere, not sure I'll rush back now. I will say all the staff are very good though.
