Came here with a colleague from work on our lunch break and was thrilled to find such a cosy cafe serving delicious food right on Mold high street! Couldn’t ask for more pleasant atmosphere, the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating and the food was piping hot and cooked to order. Will definitely be coming again.

Called in with a friend after going swimming. Hardly anyone in the cafe and menu very limited. Staff were pleasant but when not serving sat in the cafe sharing their conversation with all. We were looking for something filling but it was mainly something on toast, soup, sandwich or baked potato.

A vegan friend and I called in for coffee. We didn't stay long. Staff were not particularly friendly and they were unable to offer non dairy milk of any sort. Unbelievable these days. Dreary surroundings. Will not be going again.

The sandwiches are lovely but you only get three triangles, so in effect, that’s less than two slices of bread! I’m sure when I went last year there were four triangles! They are very tasty but too expensive at £4.75 for such a small portion. This would probably put me off going there again.

Called in unplanned to get breakfast. The cafe is nicely decorated and set out.The service was very friendly and efficient.I had an omelette which was very tasty and a good size too.Having passed a sign at the door claiming to offer the best coffee in Mold, it really wasn't. A very average latte from a push button machine. So the coffee let down what was in all other respects a very nice visit.

This is a little gem, located within the shop. We were out for the day, and this provided just the thing. There was a good choice, but we all opted for the cheddar cheese and caramelised onion quiche. So tasty, and the pastry was really light and crumbly. Would go there again.

Lovely little find. The quiche and salad is scrummylishus and Holly makes coffee just the way I like it. First time was on my own shopping, second time I took Hubby and third time took friends and they all loved it. The food is home made and delicious.

Precio justo. Volvería.

I have shopped at Clay's on a few occasions, but I never knew of the little Treasure of a coffee shop that is tucked away upstairs.I was visiting on my own and was warmly greeted and had my coat taken and hung up for me.It's a small and cosy place and the sandwich that I ordered was well presented with a side salad and a bowl of crisps. If I had to make a small criticism, it would be that the young waitress when cleaning the tables did not spray the cleaning fluid into a cloth and as it is a small establishment, when sprayed it was a bit close to the food on the surrounding tables!I will return soon to try one of their delicious looking cakes.Thank you.

This café is under new management, with a new and varied menu and what a difference! Last week my husband had poached eggs on toast and he remarked how well they had been cooked; not hard as can sometimes happen. I had the scrambled eggs on toast and again this was nicely cooked. Today we both had the Welsh Rarebit which came with a side salad; so tasty and moreish. The café is clean, the staff so friendly and we will certainly be making this a place to visit often.

This is my second review of this cafe.....usually really good, but I'm so disappointed following my visit this morning.....my daughter and I went there for a cuppa....it was about 9.30am and the cafe had just opened....the young waitress took our order but explained that the cook hadn't arrived yet but would be there very soon. This wasn't a problem at all. But, five minutes later the cook arrived....took one look at us sitting there and rolled her eyes, as if to say "what on earth are you doing here so early?!". We felt quite uncomfortable! She then spoke to the young girl (who was lovely) in a horrible manner, which was totally uncalled for. Due to this I will no longer visit this cafe...there's plenty more in Mold with much friendlier cooks! Sorry Mrs Miserable Cook but you've lost custom here...

Clay's coffee shop is a smart place in Mold for a snack. It is over the front of Clays shop. and looks out on to wrexham street. the decor is crisp and modern.Recently after visiting the famous hulsons pie shop , we, my daughter and her family, some lads, opted for coffee here. Glad that there is a separate staircase to the cafe as this spared the boys blushes as Clays shop is famed for its wonderful range of undies and smart clothes. There is a nice menu of the usual snacks , the soups are delicious, and there is a specials board that usually has a curry or things like scallops. As my visitors were from Devon they chose the Welsh option of Bara brith, with a coffee We had a discussion about how attractive the town of Mold is, especially on market day.Next year they promise to stay longer!

A hidden gem - it's not immediately obvious from the street, situated as it is on the first floor of Clay's ladieswear shop on Wrexham Street, but it's well worth seeking out.The regular menu offers a good selection of the 'staples' - paninis, sandwiches, all-day breakfasts, etc. - and this is complemented by a regularly-changing selection of specials (both daily and weekly), some of which are old favourites (or variations thereof) and some of which are more interesting out-of-the-ordinary options. The one common factor is that they never disappoint! Everything's made freshly to order by David - how he manages to create such a wide range of delicious dishes in such a small kitchen never ceases to amaze.Service is friendly and attentive, prices are reasonable (not cheap, but you do get what you pay for). Highly recommended.

I was impressed with the food especially when i told them i was following the slimming world plan. It was no problem for them to adapt their menu to suit my needs! You walk through the shop and up the stairs to get to the cafe. If you can t do stairs they have a stair lift. Probably not suitable for those with babies or toddlers.

This is a superb little coffee shop situated above a lingere shop! The food is delicious and healthy and excellent value. There are yummy specials available daily with the most scrummy salads. I tried the prawns in chille on a fruit salad.....absolutely delicious. Just enough too; you're never over-faced and all meals are cooked fresh. It is a delight to eat in this unassuming cafe and a rare treat to find such a place. I would highly recommend this place. Just great!

I Went into Clays one day when i saw that it said Glutenfree food on menu. To my surprise, it turns out to be a whole menu specificly for coeliacs, theres a seperate menu for non coeliacs. How cool is that. I go there at least twice a week, they can even turn their hand to doing savoury pies. Good food, good surrounding, good people. Give it a try.

You have to look to find Clay’s Coffee Shop – its above Clay’s of Chester in Mold. It uses fresh ingredients and everything appears to be home made. It’s all of a good quality whether it’s homemade soup or good sandwich fillings. The specials really are – try the diver caught Anglesey scallops with black pudding and bacon and pea puree. Not what you would expect from a hidden away coffee shop. Well worth a visit. Get a window seat - watch the world go by and savour the fact that there is a coffee shop left that does ‘real’ food and does not charge the earth!

This was our first visit and we had a very pleasant evening. One of our group has dietary requirements (gluten and dairy free). The staff were very attentive and helpful, checking the dishes chosen were suitable and safe. The food was delicious, cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. Excellent service. We will definitely go back there.

Shambolic experience recently when we went for lunch. They had a funeral wake going on with loads of people. Car park was full, with total chaos as cars were trying to enter/ leave and then find somewhere to park. Service inside was appallingly slow and not helped by very unpleasant lady at the counter. Apparently some people who had booked just went away due to the situation. Its was a great pity as this is usually a very good place to eat.

Booked a table for 16 people 2 weeks in advance for Sunday lunch for our dads 60th birthday, having been here several times for family gatherings or as a couple for meals it was our first choice as food and service has always been great.service from the waitress this time was terrible she was quite frankly rude and we were made to feel unwanted the minute we were seated.having just taken our seats same asked us what did we want to order from the Sunday roast menu,I explained we were going to order drinks first and then we would be ready to order ,her reply we have these tables booked out after you! My mum immediately wanted to leave but not wanting to ruin dad’s meal as family had traveled from Manchester we stayed. Food came to the table quickly and disappointing, everyone’s Yorkshire puddings were burnt and hard we had a spoonful of instant mash and for the price small portions , the server was miserable and standoffish and unlike past reservations wasn’t very welcoming towards us , will not be coming back unfortunately everyone in our party wanted to complain but we didn’t for dads sake
