Clay Oven Indian Take Away in Sutton

I recently moved to the area and have heard great reviews about Mohini (assuming the new name for this Balti house). The food came super quickly, hot and... was the best curry I have had in years. At such a reasonable price also. Very flavoursome, not oily, great portions and just very very tasty. I will be coming back!!

Food ok, but 2.5 hours to deliver (after promise of 40 minutes) is not acceptable. First chase told on way, second chase told problem in kitchen and told 25 minutes - still no sign. Exceptionally poor customer service and lack of honesty when it goes wrong means we won’t use again.

A really excellent takeaway. We have been using this Indian Take Away for many years and have always been delighted with the food and service. Thank you Clay Oven!

This place came up (Mohini) on my Just Eat list of Indian takeaways, so I thought I'd give them a try instead of ordering from my good old faithful, Asif. Having put in a £30+ order of two starters, two mains, two naans and a rice and papadoms I eagerly awaited my delivery. I have to say, I was extremely underwhelmed when I tucked in. Bhajis were chewy, naans were cold (keema naan was full of red food colouring on the mince!). All the dishes, including the king prawn purée starter were smothered in a thick, not very pleasant tasting sauce. Tikka Balti dhansak was full of huge chunks of onion, which made up about 65% of the dish and frankly made a mockery of the large container it came served in. This place seemed to have good reviews on the Just Eat app, but I think Tripadvisor is probably a better barometer.

FYI-Clay Oven is now MOHINI. New owners,I believe. I enjoyed a very tasty takeaway,a well spiced&flavoursome Phal-everyone else enjoyed theirs too. To get a free veg side dish-min purchase £30 . Plus a free bottle of coke &free delivery. One very small gripe-no free popadums!? Would definitely use again.

We ordered a takeaway: 2 curry mains, a rice, bread, naan and 2 poppadoms. £23 which surprised me a little but my menu obviously is a bit old - though they didn't bring me a new one... Both mains were tasty: my chicken madras was pleasantly spiky. My wife was less enamoured of her lamb moghlai; though because of the chewy meat rather than the tasty sauce. Rice ok, aubergine side good, but the naan was poor, not least as it was thin, not fluffy and stone cold. Detracted from the meal big time. The other gripe I have is that other take aways often offer freebies, such as Bombay aloo on orders over £15. Having paid over £20 I was extremely disappointed - especially having paid from them - the poppadoms came with neither salad garnish or yoghurt dressing. Frankly short sighted and miserly. I'm not sure how quickly I'll go back.

I called at 20:00 as we had not had our delivery and the guy said at least another 30 minutes!!! so we went and collected and they we're not even ready at 20:30 for a collection! we left there at 20:45 and my rice was missing, the masala sauce madras hot was just a madras and the food was not as good as it usually was. such a shame

Offer a free drink yet didn't even bring it what a shocker! Won't be using again can't stand false advertisement spent a fortune with them and can't even do as they promote!!

The food was 50 minutes late but when it finally arrived it was delicious. I usually order for here - very late delivery most of the time but food is always gorgeous!

No facility to sit in and delivery times can be quite lengthy but the food is one of the best we've found in the locale.

This place has a reputation as being one of the best in the area. After waiting 2 hours for a delivery that was promised in 40mins, I was not impressed. We called twice to ask where the food currently was and was told on delivery. The food had good flavour when it finally arrived but was cold and needed heating up. Plenty of other options in the area and so won't be going back.

Disappointed as i use this one quite often,delivery times have gone up to over an hour lately and food has become bland even my favourite dish has completely changed beyond recognition.

Waited nearly 2 hrs for order, phoned twice first time he said it will be there in 5mins, 20mins later still not here!! Order got here not very hot, ordered mixed kebab starter but it was samosas and bajis!! Disappointed and no offer of a partial refund or future discount!! Won't order again

Don't believe Just Eat "delivered time"! We ordered at 7pm on a Saturday, est delivery 8pm (that's OK) which then updated to 815pm (still OK). No show by 830pm so called them with no answer until 9pm, drove up there an picked it up. To be fair to the restaurant, they added some freebies to compensate. Food great as always but in the future I think I'll just pop in and pick it up. The issue seems to be not enough delivery drivers, no probs in the kitchen.

This place was once my favourite take away but over the past 6 months standards have slipped dramatically. This evening when I phoned my order through I was told it would be ready in 45 minutes. So when I arrived to find a shop full of people all waiting for over an hour for food I was a little surprised. I was constantly told my order was only 5 minutes away but after waiting a further half an hour I walked out. They have taken my custom for granted for far to long. Not anymore.......

It took two hours to be delivered, was cold when arrived and not the tastiest if Indians. Won't be ordering from here again

After placing my order... we were told the order will be delivered in 1 hour 10mins.... it did not... myself and friends had called at least 3 times asking where our order was, to be told it was out on delivery... and was laughing at my complaint... outrageous.... it is now ticking onto 2 hours still no curry.... after 2 hours 15 mins i call yet again saying this is now ridiculous ... to be told yet again its out on the road and because of the delay they will discount £5.... not good enough.... then after 2hours 30mins the curry arrives... I then ask the delivery man how long ago did he pick up our order... he replies 10mins.... oh so the manager lied...😡great customer care NOT!😡 The bill came to £45 ... i gave them £30( they were lucky to get that) the food had leaked everywhere... the bag it arrived in was full of the order.... the spillage was ridiculous.... it tasted artificial and the artificial colouring was astounding ....i have never had such a bad experience from a takeaway .... this was disgraceful ....i recommend anybody thinking of ordering from here to reconsider...

We understand Friday nights can be busy but we waited 2 hours for our food and when it arrived we were missing dips we'd ordered and payed for.

Want tasty Indian food, non greasy, and at a good price? Pick up your dinner having just got off the train. The jeera al dilkush provides that essential cumin hit - well recommended

Tasty tikka Bhuna, chicken very tender. Always use Clay Oven these days & they don't disappoint. Delivery can be slower at times but food worth the wait

Food ok, but TERRIBLE delivery. Advised delivery 7.45 and showed delivery on app just after but food didn't show up until after 8.30, after two calls to restaurant when rudely told be there shortly with very little interest. Shame, as food quite nice but don't feel like giving them any more business after today.

Delicious Indian food. Generous portions, good price, fast delivery. This is our monthly treat and never disappoints.

Awesome Customer Service, awesome food ; cannot recommend highly enough. If you're bored of other curry houses standard Jalfrezi's, Balti's and Madras ... try the Chef's specials here ; the Chicken or Lamb Tabha is excellent. Never disappoints !

i asked for no corriander of there was corriander ! stained fingers from food colouring , even the dog turned its nose up ! dont reccomend it wont be ordering again

Food portions very good, Naan bread a bit small though. Chicken could of been a bit more tender but on the whole was satisfied. Keema rice was great and the Naan tasted good but the Chicken pakoras were dry as you like. Delivery time was pretty poor taking an hour and 15 minutes but the delivery man was pleasent and apologetic.

One of our favourite Indian restaurants. Delicious food. Sometimes they get busy and it takes a while but is worth it. The saucey dishes (CTM etc) can be a little overly thick at times but still taste yum

Most definitely my favourite takeaway! I have literally nothing bad to say about them! The food is simply amazing, every single time... the prices and offers are excellent (I usually have the four course option for just under £11)... the delivery is quick and the staff are polite and friendly! Would highly recommend!

30 minute delivery, c.korma was very coconutty and tasty. Boiled rice nice. Best part was the free poppadums which were amazing ! Will be ordering again !!

This was the second time I had ordered from Clay Oven - as its a nearby restaurant when I'm staying in Carshalton. In short I can't fault them in any way. The food arrived piping hot, delivery driver was cheerful,friendly and polite and the amount of food for the money was amazing,easily enough for two people, I would say that the biriyani with lamb prawns and almonds is easily the best I've ever had. I can't wait to order from them again

Sorry to say but all the sundries were inedible, the Poppadoms were soft and soggy, the stuffed was missing from the stuffed paratha, the onion Bhaji was like rock hard and the chips were like 2 day old reheated !! the veg curry was tasteless and swimming in an oil of some description and everything was cold, 1 hour 15 mins delivery time! But the chicken tikka biryani was ok
