City Spice in Cheshire West and Chester

Unfortunately, the Chicken Makhani lid wasn’t on and spilt all over our vegetarian dish (biryani) which was thrown away. The makhani had to be served by slicing the paper bag at the bottom. The mixed madras was perfect!

Good and tasty food delivered on time even though a late night order.

Ordered through Just Eat. Ordered my usual of chicken korma, pilau rice and a Naan. I go on a regular basis, but tonight's food quality was awful it was full of MSG which I can't have, I'm usually ok with this meal. The chicken was full of gristle, and was tough. The portion was small and it had hardly any sauce and was very salty Has this place got new owners? You've just lost my custom

13 of us who arrived in the restaurant at around 8:30 and we ordered our food around 8:45-9:00. This was long after the other long table who long after we’d ordered still hadn’t got theirs! Only 2 hours after we first ordered did the plates arrive, only loot-warm. Only at 11:00pm did our food eventually reach the table: HALLELUJAH! No wonder it took so long: they only had 1 chef in the kitchen and 2 waiters (1 waitress). The chef even came out to serve the other long table! 1 chef to cover the orders for the customers in the restaurant and also takeaways (inc. Uber Eats and Just Eat) who was clearly overwhelmed under so much pressure. One of our ‘party’ has a hospitality background and complained, of which the staff were apologetic and nice over. How the food came out hot after all this time to me is a miracle, although it did get cold quickly. Another of our ‘party’ also found a hair in his meal, even though chef was wearing a chef hat; nonetheless is still disgusting. Never have I waited this long for food and I’m sure the same can be said for the rest of our squad. This length of wait - 2 hours - is & was unacceptable, with 2 large groups of people and only one other couple in what’s a small restaurant. The food taste and quality, not much wrong with. They kindly took money off the bill and rightly so for such dreadful service. None of us are in any rush to return again to this restaurant anytime in the future.

Absolutely cannot fault. Absolutely beautiful food. Amazing quality and taste. Been to lots of Indian’s and this is by far the best. Would recommend to anybody.

Firstly, the delivery time. A lot earlier than it said it would be (I selected ASAP), absolutely made up with that. The food came and was all warm. Food was delicious, I'm not sure why I've never used these guys before on just eat, I'll definitely be using them again. My only criticism is the chips weren't really crispy, but they were still nice and the portion size was spot on as well. I also asked for the chicken tikka masala to be spicy, they got it absolutely spot on. I look forward to my next meal from here

I've tried the food from most curry places in Chester, but City Spice is by far the best!! The food is delicious, always hot and full of flavour. I wouldn't get a curry anywhere else now. Highly recommended 👌

Nice food. It was halal which was most important for us that's why we stayed here to eat but, the place is really not nice to look at, upstairs, where the toilets are, was really bad. Once of the waiter's, although very nice, didn't seem to understand us fully due to lack of English. Having said this, they were very accommodating to our needs and wants which was very nice. Couldn't see extra oils and fats which was great. Qeema naan I have to say was a huge let down, the mince was only in one corner of the naan bread rather than spread inside the entire naan bread. If I'm honest, I just tried to focus on the halal food rather than the place! Please do the place up and PLEASE, clean the carpet if not change it so customers don't get put off if they go to the loo's!!

Consistently good food. One really good indicator for me is that the poppadoms are always fresh and not oily

Visited this restaurant last night. Food was okay. The place was filthy upstairs toilets where disgusting. We where Iver charged for the set meal as we where told that some items where not on the set meal, this should have been explained to us upon ordering. We ordered 2 cans of coke which where priced at £1.80 each in the menu to then find the m priced at £4.50 for 2 meaning they where £2.25 each and the cans stated multipack cans not to be some separately. When we complained about being over charged for the set meal they took £4.00 off the bill bit over all we where still over charged. The place was smelly and dirty I wouldn't go there again

Best takeaway curry we’ve had so far in Chester. We ordered the chicken Pasanda and the Makhani and both were very tasty. No grease and plenty of meat. Also the garlic naans are insane! 😋

Was full of grease inside! I've ordered a tikka masala before from here and never had a problem at all! I always order the same and this time it was appalling i have never seen anything like it! Couldn't even eat it let alone look at it! It was absolutley disgusting and the amount of grease it had i may aswel off just ordered a portion of grease it looked absoltuley revaulting!

Wrong food, ordered a chicken tikka madras, and chicken tikka masala came, need to look at the dishes properly.

Originally stated an hour and a half for delivery (after ordering and paying. The estimate was 40 mins before they had my money). Then this was further delayed by another 30 mins at the last moment. A 2 hour wait for an average curry on a Tuesday night. I will not be ordering from here again.

Waited 2 hours and it didn’t arrive. We ordered and they confirmed at 25 to 10 I told them not to bother as I’d cook at home myself. Don’t waste your time with these guys, how can anyone be that busy on a Tuesday? Absolute joke never ever again!!!

The latest estimated delivery time was 21:40 but the food arrived at around 22:17. Having ordered the food at around 20:15, I had to wait around two hours before receiving my food. For a Tuesday night, I was very surprised and disappointed. The food was nice, but as I’ve stated the two curries were a little on the cold side but eatable and still tasty. Disappointing experience to have to wait for as long as we did, we even rang up Spice City three and each time they said it was would be five minute, when it actual fact it was much longer. I would like a refund, unfortunately.

We ordered at 7.48 when delivery was quoted at 45 mins to 1 hour. Our food arrived at 10.05 plus 3 popadoms (as compensation by a guy who hung up on me after saying “okay bye”) but minus one peshwari naan (we ordered two). To be fair the food we had was all delicious. Just very late.

Really dissatisfied one curry the pathia had 3 pieces of chicken £8:50 absolutely shocking the tikka 8 pieces wich was fine you expect both to have the same

Great menu! They have pathia, which not all restaurants do, and it’s my favourite. All our meals were hot, fresh and tasty and good portion sizes. Would 10/10 order from here again

Good was fresh and delicious. Staff were very helpful and explained all the dishes. Would highly recommend. We had a takeaway from Gate of India restaurant next door the night before, which was awful. Highly recommend City Spice

Came for a meal,Saturday night. Had sheek kebab and chicken biriyani and chicken sag. Food was lovely,plenty of chicken and very tasty. Service was excellent.

The quality of the meet used in both dishes was very poor, lamb really tough and the prawns in the biryani were very very small, large lumps of veggies and chicken was dry.

Had a curry and I have got to be honest it was really nice one of the best curry's iv had in a long while I would definitely recommend and go there again

Grim! Worst take away curry that I've EVER had the displeasure of bringing home. The chicken was tough and chewy... how do you even make chicken chewy??? My Naan bread has an odd fishy smell about it. You'd do well to avoid this place. I would honestly have an Asda "dingmeal" curry over this.

Was nearly empty when we visited about 7pm . Pleasantly surprised by the standard of food. My curry was delicious, service was friendly and would definitely return. Seems card machine wasn't working,maybe why it was quiet but i would certainly recommend

Do not be fooled by the front of the restaurant. (Avoid Gate of India) City Spice food is 10/10, service is outstanding. The waiter was happy to explain the dish. The food was faultless, everything is fresh & tasty. I grew up eating Indian food & I have to admit it's one of the best food I've eaten.

This restaurant was recommended to me. It doesn't look the best from the outside and the furniture inside was aged but, to be fair, the food was fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed it - the chef even came out and spoke to me about the meal. Would definitely recommend it and will be going back.

Ordered from here for the first time because there are a lot of good reviews. However I was disgusted to find a stick in my vegetable masala. Then having researched the restaurant after and finding out it has a 1 star hygiene rating I am not surprised and wish I would have known this before ordering. The lamb madras was watery and had hardly any lamb in it, it would have also been nice if it had included vegetables in it too. The curry portion size was good but the rice was not very big to go with it. It came about 20 minutes earlier than the delivery time which I am glad about as over an hour is a ridiculous wait time to begin with. Guess you could say it’s reasonably priced if you want a few added extras from the garden included in your meal. Will definitely not be ordering from here again

City Spice is our go-to for Indian takeaway - delicious food. Naga Lamb was nice and spicy but also full of flavour and excellent butter chicken also. Quick delivery. Recommended.

Don't be fooled by its better looking neighbour, this is the place to go to for excellent Indian food, great service and excellent value. Looks aren't everything, right? Yes, the interior is a little sparse but the service from Hussain and the rest of the team was second to none. We've eaten next door in the past but won't from now on. Give City Spice a try and you won't be disappointed by the food or the service.
