The dish had no flavor and was cold and tasteless. The ambiance was disagreeable and the service was not professional. They obviously employ phony five-star reviews to influence buyers.

We had a great curry and time here, quick and fast service. Food was decent - lots of space but I would book in advance.

Overall I wouldn’t say they’re the best in brick lane, arguably one of the worst and would tend to agree with all the other one star reviews ! Underwhelming experience. Food lacked flavour and was not worth the prices. The staff were incredibly rude and inconsiderate. They also spilt food all over the sides of dishes and waiters used their fingers to pick up food. With all the amazing places in London i would give this one a miss.

The spices were overwhelming in the worst way and the food tasted stale. The atmosphere at dinner was gloomy, and the staff mostly ignored us. These days, it's clear that every business uses fake five-star reviews to deceive customers and make money.

This place's cuisine was really underwhelming. Everything was really oily and boring, and the dishes lacked real taste. I was disappointed and irritated since the portions were so small in relation to the cost. The curry tasted like it was from a can, and the naan was scorched. How this place receives any positive reviews is astounding. Fake five-star ratings are used by all businesses to conduct business.

We got exactly what we were lookinng for. Asked for a table change and got move to a better view. Tasty food.

Was great, tasty food , we had the meat thali, and lamb and chicken biryani. The meat thali contained different dishes, the lamb was succulent and tasty, bread was super, tikka masala was brilliant . Tandoori chicken was okay (we prefer more savoury than dry) Defo recommend

Worst dining experience we had for a long time! We booked table (for 2) and were seated at a table with about 10 chairs against a wall in the basement, where two or three christmas parties were happening. After not accepting this table we were led to a better table upstairs, but then they completely rushed us through our Dinner. The whole experience cannot have lasted longer than 30 Minutes in total.

Overall, it was a bad experience. It was not at all like the delicious Indian food I have had in the past; it was bland and lacked flavor and spice. You had to wait a long time for your food and drinks, but the staff seemed unconcerned. It was a terrible service. They were rude and unpleasant when we asked about our order. This five-star review is probably fraudulent. One well-known example is when companies buy fake reviews to hide subpar product and service.

Very well balanced thali served with a proper thick mango lassi! Food is of course slightly milder than “back home”, but that’s understandable given the need to cater to multiple audiences. Service was impeccable throughout.

Because of its alleged "best" reputation, I regret picking this eatery. The dish lacked depth of flavor and was very fatty and tasteless. The staff did not appear to care about our needs, and the service was slow. Simple foods were lukewarm when they eventually arrived, and we had to wait way too long for them. They were indifferent and merely going through the motions. Unfortunately, a lot of these evaluations appear to be fraudulent, which is obviously part of the company's plan to improve its reputation. Businesses that depend on deception to generate revenue are disheartening. Not advised

The restaurant felt unclean, and the atmosphere was boisterous. My curry was watered down, tasteless, and unappetizing, and the food was not fresh. The personnel was unorganized and inattentive, and there was no service. This establishment is obviously using phony five-star reviews to entice customers. Avoid falling for that. Nothing about the experience is genuine. I was angry, hungry, and wished I had not chosen to eat here.

We were lured in with the promise that we would get a free drink. This was adhered to, but everything around it was anything but a quiet, relaxed dinner. A starter was forced upon us. We were told to order quickly and after eating we received the bill straight away and were asked to stand up so that the next guests could take a seat. I hadn't even finished my glass yet. After seeing a review on YouTube for city spice we decided to go. The doorman was charismatic and got our attention and we get eager to go in. He offered us 20% off and a free drink each as a lunch special - we gladly accepted. Once we were seated we ordered our drinks and we were given a plate of popadums with a selection of dips which were really good. So far so good. Our food came and was good, tasty with enough spice without being too overwhelming. Our problem began when we received our bill. £76 for 3 people after the 20% discount was deducted and the drinks were taken off. We decided to pay the bill and leave and not argue over the money, but we won’t return. They may have scored a few extra pounds this time but will loose long term. My advice is to check your bill before paying.

Such kind and attentive service. We had the poppadom to start and the sauces were incredible, especially the pickled mango. Followed by lamb vindaloo which was the perfect level of spice (it was spicy, which we love). We were craving this type of food and it hit the spot perfectly!

Had the curry challenge. I’ve done made of these and normally you lose the taste. This was an excellent tasting curry. For those like like hot curry’s this is a must challenge Thank you City Spice

Due to positive reviews, we reserved a table before our trip to London and we weren't disappointed in the slightest. On a street full of competing restaurants, City Spice stands out for its attentive but not overbearing service and excellent cuisine. We would love to come back on our next city trip.

Very expensive in comparison to other restaurants, after paying and leaving checked the prices to found out nearly £15 had been added on to our bill. Staff were friendly admittedly, window sill had scraps of food on that hadn’t been cleaned away. For a restaurant of this stature, attention to detail is lacking and we had at least 2 chipped plates served to us with food on.

Average food and service. Was hoping for more but the dishes were not especially well executed. A overuse of onion in the dishes we tried (possibly ‘padding’ out the dishes?). Service was patchy at best, verging on chaotic at times. Atmosphere fun and the best element of the experience here.

Small friendly Bengali restaurant. Food fairly average except the Rohi fish which I found almost inedible due to bones throughout. There was a warning about bones but I didn’t realise they’d be so bad. Waiter made mistake with one dish but still tasted good.
