Went there for lunch, had the Onion Bhaji & chicken Pathia. Quality of the food was very good, my only slight criticism was I thought the Pathia was a little too sweet & the onions were a little crunchy but overall very enjoyable

Awful. Got immediately ill after eating here. Ordered from the vegan menu and everything was bland without a hint of spice, all overly sweet and super oily. Rice was clumpy and tasted old. A waiter actually used his fingernail to scrape a dried piece of old food off of a plate before putting on our table to eat from, all right in front of us too! All three of us had immediately stomach issues after eating here. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

Vert nice ond quiet place with traditional indian food. It is a happy place to eat with perfect service. The music is not to high, and the local is intime and cosy.

Literally the worst Indian food I’ve had in my life. It’s so not Indian, bland-est and most horrible food. Desis yahan pe mat aana, if you know what I mean. Even 1 star is too much… updating the review here, I got out of the restaurant and the owner yelled at me and asked why did I write a bad review, when I told him that I didn’t like the food, he yelled at me and my friend “You’re disgusting”, honestly can someone teach him customer service. Honestly it just felt that he was trying to intimidate a woman by coming so up and close and raising their voice. This behaviour is so unacceptable, I don’t think I would have thought about the bad food experience again but will always remember how he behaved, how horrible of him

Best place on Brick Lane to come for a curry

I ate at this place a few months ago and I got food poisoned. I ordered the garlic chicken curry which when I first looked at it looked very old. Went home and vomited all night!!! NEVER AGAIN

Lamb madras was very tasty, and spice level rating was spot on.

Food are delicious and service is great. Just the curry a but spicy and u may need more than one drink!

Brick Lane is without doubt the curry Mecca of London… but City Spice is one of best restaurants in my opinion upon that esteemed street of spice! A few pints at the Pride of Spitalfields is always complemented beautifully with a meal at City Spice to end an evening in London’s east end! 😊🎉👍

Just had the best dinner at City Spice, and wow, the food was next level! The bhuna was so tender and packed with flavour. We had it with some ice-cold beers, which were the perfect pairing. The atmosphere was super chill, and the staff were friendly. If you’re down for a fun night out with amazing food and drinks, you definitely need to check this place out!

This is a really poor Bangladeshi restaurant. Got the meat thali. The food was all sweet with sugar, the tandoori chicken and sheekh kebab was dry and rubbery. The place smelt really strongly of stale kitchens. Wasn't my choice. Never again!

This is the best Indian meal I have had in many years. Please, please open a restaurant in Beverley. We have no good Indian restaurants near where we live. Really great evening.

This is my local curry house and has been so for many years, this may not sound so remarkable but when you consider that this is Brick Lane and City Spice is surrounded by many other curry houses, you’ll start to realise why it’s special! A jewel in the crown you might say 👍🏻

***HYGIENE NIGHTMARE*** I have only just recovered the energy to write this review, having eaten here over a week and half ago. Since eating here I have been extremely unwell and have been informed by my doctors that I have traces of three different strands of stomach viruses. I wouldn’t wish the symptoms I have experienced on anyone and it’s such a shame that hygiene isn’t taken more seriously here.

Stumbled upon this restaurant while walking down Brick Lane and what a pleasant surprise it was. Separate vegan menu with many options. I had the Rogan josh which was amazing. Most things on the menu are also gluten free. Very hospitable staff and very good prices. Would definitely recommend.

The curry is absolutely spot on, waiters are absolutely lovely. This is the place to come if you’re on brick lane.

The food here was nice! A bit greasy but very flavourful. Would recommend taking the greasiness of the curries/grill dishes into account and ordering something light on the side. Service was OK - it took us some effort to order food as the server seemed to have forgotten us.

I recently dined at this wonderful Indian restaurant and had a fantastic experience! We ordered the Chicken Masala and two servings of Butter Chicken, both of which were absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and perfectly balanced, making every bite a delight. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, which made our visit even more enjoyable. Their recommendations were spot on, and they made us feel right at home. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine. I can’t wait to come back for more!

Walking through East London to Brick Lane we felt tired and hungry. City Spice looked welcoming so we popped in and weren't disappointed. The food was all lovely and appeared to be cooked fresh to order. Lovely and not too expensive, recommended.

Incredibly poor experience at this establishment. My first observations where the poor cleanliness of the table plates which had stains and even a hair on. I then ordered a Pudina, this tasted of nothing, and had so much ghee in, in had started to split from the rest of the curry. Things then got worse when we were sneezed on by the manager. Don't trust the hype on the door as this is a tourist trap!

I had the luxury of staying above the restaurant and smelling the wonderful spices. I ate here on a Sunday evening and had the most amazing service, being an American they really insured I tried something outside the box, and led with the Lamb Biryani and Garlic Naan. Both were fresh and absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend anyone staying in Shoreditch to give them a go, you will not be disappointed! Great service, great food, and great atmosphere
