City Spice in Tower Hamlets

This is a great spot on Brick Lane! I’ve come several times now and the food and service are both consistently great. Our waiter Mabz, was friendly and attentive. They’re open late and super close to Shoreditch High Street Station.

Incredible food. Delicious vegan options (lots of them). Lovely vibes. Staff are welcoming, friendly, helpful and polite. World class food. World class service. We can’t wait to dine here again.

Food was great! My waiter Mabz was awesome Get the mango lassi and jalfrezi if you want a solid wednesday evening activity.

I had to sit and watch the waiter dishing up the chutneys lick his finger after wiping the drips from the jug he was pouring the various dips from with his finger for the entirety of my visit. I spoke to the manager who told me as he left that he was sorry but he couldn’t control all the staff he was managing. The same waiter was putting the lemon slices into glasses for customers. I never saw him wash his hands.

My first time ever trying Indian food , and I was really surprised by the quality. Loved the butter chicken. Staff friendly , definitely coming back !!

We were 8 and the Staff placed us near the Toilets. The food was OKAY but the rice portions ie the Pilau Rice was so so shallow as if a Monk was being ordained. We expected a mountain of rice for the huge price but they gave us a few grains, I mean I counted 100 grains. What is wrong with them? Apart from the URINE SMELL AND 100 GRAINS OF RICE FOR £4, all was fine. LOL. I WILL NEVER EVER GO THERE AGAIN.

Food was really. Unfortunately as soon as we were finished they emptied the table, ripped the table cloth off the table and presented us with the bill. It felt a bit like fast food, very rude and we wouldn't come back.

Honestly this was the best meal we had on our London Trip. We tried a few places on brick lane (we love a curry spot or as they say a ruby murray or just a ruby 😉) but this was the best spot. The service by Mabz was excellent and the chef here can really cook. I’m going to have to watch the BBC show they did about him. Family business with amazing food and service do not miss when in London.

I stopped in here because I knew they had a vegan menu, and I was not disappointed. The food was great, the staff attentive, and I will definitely come back if I have the chance.

Basic dishes with hard and cold onion bhajis, had a chicken shaslik but very chewy, disappointed to say the least , informed the waiter but he want interested, alot better places than here, wouldn't go back.

Must try their new spicy 'Gunpowder' lamb mince, marinated chicken encasing, bhuna sauce. We also loved their velvety Chicken Tikka Masala (as seen on Channel 5).

Had lunch here. It was amazing. Staff super helpful and couldn’t have looked after us better. We had 2 guests that had allergies and they dealt with that fabulously. Will be back.

We ate here on a Saturday evening. We arrived on time for our booking and waited inside to be seated. There was a staff member outside smoking who opened the door to ask if we had been seen to but this meant smoke drifted inside...

I chose this place because of the good reviews but it was a total disappointment! It feels crammed , the food is mediocre at best, popadoms tasted stale , rice and mains- substandard, a takeaway would have been of higher quality!

Glad we did!! Went on Monday night Offered 25% off meal and free first round of drinks Mango lassi amazing Tandoori mixed grill was superb and the tikka masala was equally as delicious Naans 10/10 Great all round and price was excellent Would definitely return

Went for lunch and loved it. The food was incredible. I'm still thinking about the tikka dish that I had. The service was wonderful. Everyone was so friendly and making sure that we had a wonderful time. When our server found out I had recently become engaged she brought out a ice cream dessert which was very sweet and just added to the whole experience. We are already planning to come back and try the dinner options. Vegetarian options: Good selection of vegetarian options.

A Culinary Gem in Brick Lane - City Spice From the moment we stepped into City Spice, we were greeted by a symphony of flavors and the warmest hospitality. The food is nothing short of amazing, each dish a testament to the culinary prowess of the kitchen. A special shout-out to our waiter shamim, whose attention to detail and genuine care made our dining experience unforgettable. His recommendations were spot-on, enhancing our meal with every course. My favourite is always the black pepper lamb. While every staff member (including nasim) contributed to our wonderful evening, these individuals stood out and deserve every bit of recognition for their exceptional service. City Spice has not only satisfied our palates but also captured our hearts. We’ll be returning, not just for the exquisite food, but for the people who make it a place worth revisiting. See you again in Christmas when I return to london.

Be warned and careful. When they offer deals outside ie 25% off your bill or free round of drinks....just remember to triple check your bill. They charged us 25% service charge and also our drinks. Then they deducted the 25% at the bottom of the "badly handwritten bill" They inflate the poppadoms and chutneys and charge excessive money for the soft drinks. Basically just trying to con people. Be careful guys.

The food is fantastic! The atmosphere is wonderful and the restaurant is very characteristic. It was our first experience of Indian cuisine. We had a good drink to start our dinner. Then we had some very good, tasty, flavourful dishes. The staff is really courteous, friendly and kind, and the service is very good. All the dishes were well explained to us. We definitely plan to return next time we come to London! People talk very highly of City Spice - I can see why!

We had booked dinner for 4 on a Saturday night. The place was busy and I was immediately struck by the service quality. The food was divine. We ordered 4 starters, 4 curries, 2 bread baskets, 2 rice portions, and 4 non-alcoholic drinks - the bill came to £125 for everything including service. I particularly recommend the puri and the chicken curry. Amazing value Definitely go if you want an elevated experience, you won't regret it. A few days later we are still discussing how delicious everything was!

One of the best dining outs I’ve had in London. Decor and vibe is fantastic, food is delicious and staff are outstanding. Rafiq was wonderful and provided impeccable service. You HAVE to get the chilli chicken and the geeza naan. And the Xtreme rioja red wine is delicious. 10/10, can’t wait to go back. Best Indian restaurant on Brick Lane for sure.

Visited AGAIN on 01 March! Great spot and my favourite curryhouse on Brick Lane. I would recommend to all - best lamb chops! Its in a great location opposite the vinyl and vintage shops.

Hands off, it's the best Indian restaurant I have ever tried in Brick Lane. I have been trying many Indian restaurants in different countries, believe me, City Spice is exceptional 👌 everything is yummy 😍 and the staff were amazing.

From the moment I walked in, the service has been top notch. My friend’s kids even got some extra treat we never asked for as it was their birthday. The food was generous and tasty (the signature dishes) the lamb shank was awesome. I would go back to try more.

Went to Brick Lane to experience some Indian and this place went above and beyond our expectations. The food was flavorful and appropriately spiced. I’ll be thinking about that food for the rest of my trip. It felt like a fun way to eat something slightly out of the norm for my partner and I but still delivered on favor. I’d recommend this place to my friends and family!
