Where has this place gone? One of the best curries in London!

One of my favourite Indian restaurants. Unfortunately I no longer live locally, but this has still always been worth a visit or ordering from when im nearby. I love spicy food and the Vindaloo here is awesome, really tasty without sacrificing flavour for heat as is so often the case. It's a bit rough round the edges but that's part of the experience I feel, and the food definately makes up for it.

Great little Indian restaurant/ takeaway, all dishes are superb. Also great options for veggies too. If you’re in the market for a tasty takeaway, highly recommend this establishment.

Top quality curry. A place for proper curry fans rather than drunk lads. Great service and reasonable prices.

Well cooked, but lacking in flavour, and not the freshest ingredients I've ever had... Portions were odd, and a bit stingy, all tins filled 2/3 only. The poppadom side dishes (Raitas) were full, but not very nice.

Great food & service.. couldn't ask for more

Extremely disappointed, what can I say I ordered online and the delivery time was over an hour. Called to cancel and they guaranteed it would be 30 mins. It arrived at the time it was predicted with two mains abs two sides missing which left practically nothing to eat. The delivery waited outside for 20 mins without knocking then handed over half the order! Left hungry and disappointed

The food is always great and as for the atmosphere and service is very friendly and efficient so it is always a delight to visit

Pésimo servicio, el peor que he recibido en años. Pedido a las 7:45, destinado a llegar en 40 minutos. El correo electrónico dice que llegará a las 8:50. Llame al restaurante a las 9, dicen que salió, el restaurante estará allí en diez minutos. Nada. Llame de nuevo a las 9: 20, "la comida debería estar allí en 1 minuto", le pregunto por qué dijo lo contrario antes y me cuelga. Vuelve a llamar a las 9:32, lo escucho de fondo preguntando si la comida se ha ido, "la comida se fue hace diez minutos", me da la excusa de que el conductor es un tercero para que no sepan qué pasa después de la comida hojas - tono muy rudo. Le pido que llame al conductor, dice que me llamará. No es así. Llame a las 9:45 y pregunte dónde está, suspira, obviamente con la esperanza de que se mostrara sin que él tuviera que hacer nada - "¿Todavía no está allí? ”. Le pido que cancele el pedido y me reembolse y me dice que debe ponerse en contacto con el servicio de conducción para intentar obtener un reembolso, pero que no sabe si funcionará. Este servicio de conducción era la opción de pedido directamente a través de su sitio web. Dice que se pondrá en contacto conmigo después de que los llame esta noche. 10:22, llame de nuevo después de que no recibí respuesta y aparentemente la persona con la que hablé se fue y no regresará hasta mañana. Staff are outrageously rude, lie about when orders are sent, and clearly have no idea what they're doing. We called several times and our food was not delivered - they blamed delivery on their third party drivers and took no responsibility. Worst service I have had in London for a takeout. I don't write bad reviews in generally, but I sincerely, deeply, wholeheartedly urge you to not take the risk on these absolute pranksters. Over two hours late and they were still lying that the food had been dispatched - don't risk your Friday.

Appalling service - the worst I’ve received in years. Ordered at 7:45, meant to arrive in 40 mins. Email says it will arrive at 8:50. Call the restaurant at 9, they say it left the restaurant will be there in ten minutes. Nothing. Call again at 9:20, “food should be there in 1 minute”, I ask why he said otherwise earlier and he hangs up on me. Call back at 9:32, can hear him in the background asking if the food has left, “food left ten minutes ago”, gives me the excuse of the driver being a third party so they don’t know what happens after the food leaves - very rude tone. I ask him to call the driver, he says he will call me back. He doesn’t. Call at 9:45 and ask where it is, he sighs, obviously having hoped it would show up without him having to do anything - “it’s not there yet?”. I ask him to cancel the order and refund me and he says he needs to contact the driving service to try to get me a refund but that he doesn’t know if it will work. This driving service was the order option direct through their website. He says he will contact me after he’s called them tonight. 10:22, call again after I hadn’t heard back and apparently the person I spoke to left and won’t be back till tomorrow. Apparently will call me tomorrow with information about a refund, but I don’t have much faith.

We have thoroughly enjoyed all our meals from Al Amin. The "Al Amin" app is great for deliveries and we have had only great experiences. Very tasty Indian cuisine!

Delicious food, friendly staff and a homely atmosphere. Highly recommend the pistachio chicken masala!

I love this little restaurant, it's very homey, and the owner is a lovely guy that loves football. The food was so delicious, and the service amazing. I will come back!

We had takeout from here. Curries were not tasty and not spicy at all. We had diarrhea from them next day though.

Nice place, very good food, but so slow. Over an hour from sitting down to food arriving. Even when I went up to pay and said I was in a hurry, I had to sit down and wait five minutes. Takeaways clearly being given priority

This is a tiny corner of restaurant with a large personality. The staff are warm, efficient, helpful and speedy. I visited after a comedy night out and although it was near closing time it made no difference to the service provided. I have returned since on two separate occasions and the staff are still great. Food portions are not huge but neither are the prices.

This place has a lively atmosphere, the waiters are chaotic but very kind and welcoming.But the food is really horrendous. Even during dinner we started to have stomach pain and we’ve had to run to the toilet ever since. Not fresh, small portions and a homeless guy in a hoodie was helping to pass on the dishes from the kitchen to the restaurant. We were served the wrong dish, which wasn’t a problem at all. We started eating from it and then suddenly it was replaced by the actual dish we ordered. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were serving the dish we ate from to other guest.

Ordered a takeaway. Just arrived. Long hair in it, called up the guy is going on about 100mph. Just check the food you send out, can't be that hard. Total shame and waste.

Lovely quaint restaurant. Greeted and attended by a lovely waiter. Menu had a lot of variety. I got a rogan josh curry with lamb and paneer, absolutely delicious 😋 The pashwari naan was the best I’ve ever had🤤 Will definitely come back again!

Great food and fantastic service. Highly recommended when looking for a meal in the area. Staff is welcoming and friendly plus the food is delicious.

Great atmosphere, delicious food

Amazing little hole in the wall restaurant. A must visit if you're visiting East London! Portions are great and the environment is very home like. 10/10 would recommend!

I rarely write reviews however I felt compelled to after having such a good meal. The Resturant has a friendly relaxed atmosphere and is obviously family run, their passion for Indian dining is clear - my meal way surpassed the usual Indian experience, it was full of flavour.

Currently sat in restaurant writing review. This place is a gem. Thankfully it is off the beaten track so giving an excellent review will not mean I will struggle to get in again or face inflated prices ( the main reason why us TripAdvisor reviewers hesitate before giving excellent reviews).Faultless. Great staff. Not your bog standard Indian menu, with Fish Mixed dish excelling. Please don’t make the place to busy, I have stated working locally and will be hacked off if I can’t get in.

Came with a group of 10 people in early October. We all loved the food, it was spicy and rich. The prices are very fair and Mo, our server, was both knowledgeable and fun. Highly recommend!

amazing food, fantastic service, no complaints whatsoever

Popped into a local east london Indian/Bangladeshi restaurant only to be given a warm welcome by the owner and an ever ‘Hotter’ reception by the food. This was a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was quiet however inside this family owned Dhaba it didn’t feel that way. The first class banter with Mo and the finger licking HOT curries it might as well have been a busy Friday night. Appreciated your honest views of us jocks and will definitely be hammer.....ing your door down again

We spent a splendid evening there with friends and family. Food was superb and staffs were very nice, polity and friendly. we ordered traditional dishes and all came hot and fresh and the taste was superb. We were surprised by the end of the meal, when we were treated with complementary fine quality brandy and bailey's shot and the waitress gifted rose sticks to the ladies! We would like to go back again the place, highly recommended.

We stayed at the lovely Al Amin guest house for 6 nights in August 2018. The hosts were so welcoming and went out of their way to ensure we felt at home and well looked after. The breakfasts were superb every day and the staff ensured our four children had a range of tasty things to start their day! Our room was lovely and the large lounge and kitchen made it feel as though we were renting an apartment rather than staying in a hotel. Thanks to you all for making us feel so welcome!

Lamb Zalfrezi was on point! Great staff and friendly atmosphere! The ownet joined us for our meal and was mighty fun! Will be back on my next visit to London.

Good standard or curry. only negative is there very slow service. For an Anglo curry it beats all brick lane curry houses. (Meraz is epic but it's Punjabi curry). Like the food Shame about Delivery speed

The drinks were all we enjoyed at this smash and grab Indian that keeps you hanging for weeks rather than a acknowledging you exist. We ordered drinks and then spent 10 mins trying to get anyone's attention. Three people sat and chatted with there mates after we specifically told them we were in a rush. Can't tell you how the food is, we never got that far.

So delicious!!! And lovely staff too. Eating in is lovely, nice music and fun vibe.

Best Indian in London. Food is great and prices are very reasonable. One of my favourite restaurants. Much preferred to other busier Indian restaurants such as those in Brick Lane in which you feel rushed and uncomfortable.

First time eating here tonight. Staff were amazing, food was beautiful. They were very busy and seemed to handle everything so well. We will return for take away as well as dining in... thank you for our daughters ice cream and her rose she was so happy. Xx

Qué joya de lugar. Mi esposo y yo visitábamos Londres con dos de nuestros sobrinos de 18 años, que nunca han estado en Londres. Después de un consejo de un local, nos detuvimos bastante tarde y tuvimos excelentes platos de curry. Los sobrinos, que nunca tuvieron cocina de curry, comentaron sobre la calidad de la comida y el ambiente de Al Amin. Fue tan bueno, volvimos por segunda vez!

Visitamos esta joya de un restaurante anoche por pura casualidad después de asistir a un juego de béisbol con nuestros amigos. Somos de Escocia y ellos de Estados Unidos. Los cuatro estuvimos de acuerdo en que la comida era increíble, y el propietario Mo es un tipo encantador que nos hizo sentir muy bienvenidos. Recomendaría este restaurante a todos y la próxima vez que estemos en Londres, definitivamente regresaremos.

We've been getting takeaway from here for a while and it's always really tasty. We sat in for the first time this evening and loved the local atmosphere, definitely recommend!! Better than Brick Lane!

Very nice indian food. I ordered chicken tikka starter, Bhindi bhaji and Tarka dal. All dishes were tasty with nice blend of Indian spices. I will surely go back and try other curries.

Whenever I'm in the area this is my go to place to eat. It's always tasty, fresh, perfectly cooked & great value. The service is friendly & warm. Here's Mo with my order.

Standard Indian food. Not a bad restaurant/takeaway, reasonably sized restaurant to eat in but the confusing paper menus are a disappointment and the owner is always talking/chatting to someone or generally being loud! The server is quite old and while friendly enough is a bit forgetful and clumsy! The food is decent without setting the world alight, worth a go if close by but there’s better out there.

Popped into Al Amin rather late after a boxing show. Not a problem to Mo and the two girls who promptly served us beer and popadoms. The curry was really good , proper chicken breast rather than the cubed rubbish often served. Thank you for looking after us at short and late notice. Highly recommend.

Lamb Balti was great. Dahl was really nice. Ocra was delicious. Onion Bhaji was wonderful! Also try the pistachio chicken - all delicious and flavourful!

Lived in the area and discovering Al Amin was by surprise on a late night work on way home. That was in 2016. Since then I go every month if I can. Amazing staff and delicious food. They are friends now :)

Best curry I've had in a long while. Was recommended to us by a bloke in a pub, and he wasn't wrong. Tandoori mixed grill was exceptional, naan light and fluffy, and all sauces tasted fresh. To top it off, the staff were hilarious and it was a really friendly atmosphere. Never would have dropped in on the off chance - its unassuming from the outside.

The ambience feels cold and miserable, could definitely do with a revamp! Service was very poor and was under staffed. After having waited 45 minutes for the order, we were served luke warm food. Seemed like it had been sitting for a while and nobody had bothered to bring it to the table. Portions are very small for the prices and very average taste. Better places out there!

Not really sure how this place has been so highly rated. Food was okay but have definitely had much better for the price. Shatkori gosht was overly lemony and orange peshwari naan a bit concerning. Restaurant looks drab and in need of an overhaul.

So, started disastrous as i ordered on deliveroo. Came twice and was mushed all over the deliveroo bag. Called the restaurant direct and the lovely manager explained that it happens to a lot of restaurants when the deliveroo bikes, and he very kindly offered me a free meal and delivery by their own driver. Lovely gentleman and great service. will be back again, with your own service.

I have been coming back to this restaurant for decades and have always been very pleased with both the service and quality of food. Very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Great for both family meals and a night out.

We visited here on a Friday night. The service is good and the beers are cold. The food was outstanding and very reasonable. The tables at the back are away from the draughty door. Recommend.

We've been ordering from Al Amin for over 10 years. Mo has watched our youngest grow up and even take part in the Vindaloo challenge! Sometimes we eat in but normally it's a delivery. We've honed our order to perfection. Husband has Xacuti Lamb - which has Ajwain seeds in it. We know that because we asked one day and were shown the packet. It's otherwise known as Bishop's Weed and we've never tasted it anywhere else. Apparently, Bishop's weed is used for digestive disorders, asthma, chest pain (angina), kidney stones, and fluid retention. Anyway back to the order: Chicken Dhansak x 2, Mutter Paneer x 2, Tarka Dhal, Bombay Aloo, Garlic Nan and Poppadoms. You can see this amazing spread in my photos. The meat is of exceptional quality and there is loads of it in each dish. Deliveries are speedy and the food is always piping hot and delivered with a smile. We wouldn't go anywhere else.

Vindaloo was ok but I would avoid the Butter Chicken

Love Al amin. Great food, Monday discounts, I was ill the other week and got a takeaway and Mo the owner sent me a little pudding to cheer me up. Thanks Mo. Have a meal here and I guarantee you'll return for more. Also they always go the extra mile for their customers and will even tweak your meal to suit your taste and style.

My partner and I had a really lovely meal at Al-Amin! All of the dishes we tried were delicious (particularly the pistachio masala) - one of the best meals we have had in Bethnal Green/East London. Extremely affordable prices, the service was great and we were given a complementary drink and a little gift at the end of our meal. Thank you! We will be back soon.

Good homely curry with a bit of decent spicing. One of the best around and certainly a step up form Brick Lane! I've been here about a million times... I keep coming back and I keep bringing others since it rarely disappoints.

He vivido en el área y he estado yendo a Al-Amin por más de 25 años. Una de las casas de curry originales en el East End, y administrada por la misma familia con personal que se queda mucho tiempo. La comida es excelente y siempre están listos para adaptarse al gusto. Es bastante pequeño e íntimo, pero también es ideal para salir por la noche con un grupo de amigos. Tengo muchas ganas de celebrar el cumpleaños significativo de un amigo el próximo mes. Tuvo muchos momentos felices con amigos allí durante los años.
