We popped into this cafe while visiting the National Trust site and ordered two jacket potatoes. We were disappointed when these arrived as the portion sizes were very small. This was surprising as they were £7 each. The cakes, however, were good though on the more expensive side.

We have National Trust membership so visit a lot of the cafes and restaurants on day trips out. The restaurant at Avebury is by far the most disappointing and expensive one we've visited in terms of value for money. We ordered two tuna mayo jacket potatoes, one bottle of water and two cans of pop and the bill was £25! I don't necessarily begrudge paying over £8 for a jacket potato, however the portion size was ridiculously small with probably a large dessert spoon size amount of tuna on each potato. The food also had a large serving of pepper in the tuna mayo as well as in the coleslaw which somewhat overloaded any flavour the meal might have had. Service was quick and the staff were very friendly, but the food (and the cost of it) was a massive let down.

After a walk round the stones we called in to the cafe. The queue was out the door and wasn’t moving. After waiting 15 mins we left the queue and got food from the village shop and a hot coffee from the henge shop.

Waste of time and the £7 for parking. Stopped on way back from South Coast. Hoping to stretch legs and have lunch or at the very least a cup of coffee. Was travelling with my dog and found there was no way that I could buy anything as no hatch for service and dogs not allowed inside. Ironic really as many of the National Trust's volunteers are probably widows or widowers and yet a widow travelling alone with a dog can not even buy a cup of coffee. If just you and your dog then you are not welcome here. Go to Swindon to a Costa drive through instead, like I had to

As National Trust members we have eaten & had takeaways from various NT Cafe’s. Visited here whilst exploring Avebury’s magnificent stones. It is in a nice setting with plenty of seating outside where we ate some our food together with a sausage roll from the cafe & hot drinks. The sausage roll can only be described as ok. Expensive for what you get, but it did strangely come with a small salad 🤔 Great setting though for a cafe.

We got to the cafe at 1pm by which time nearly all the food options had run out. My jacket potato with tuna was very nice but about the smallest jacket potato I've ever seen served. I wasn't told that the hot drinks are left at the end of the counter, I was expecting it to be brought to the table at the same time as the hot food, so after a long wait I had to go and find the lukewarm drink where it had been left. The barn is a pleasant setting and the staff were nice. This is still probably better than going to the expensive Red Lion pub, but by National Trust standards it was a bit of a letdown.

We were hungry while out walking and stopped here and were surprised by the vegan options -- the vegan sandwich and the vegan cranberry scone we tried were both good. A good place for a quick bite, if a bit pricey the way all English Heritage/National Trust spots are.

This tasty restaurant place in a huge barn is part of the Avesbury English Heritage (EH) Stone Circles (separately reviewed). The National Trust manage the site for EH. As you would expect they are focussed on fair trade, organic food, coffees, teas and seasonal dishes so five green stars. We only got there late on a Sunday afternoon just about an hour before closing so there wasn't much left to eat. They had afternoon teas (scones/clotted cream/jam) but we'd consumed a lot if this English treat in recent weeks so we settled on great cappuccinos, sparking water and tubs of delicious ice cream from a local organic farm - I had ginger and my wife had mint choc chip and they were wonderful tasting. The scones did look lovely though. It was a really hot afternoon so we sat outdoors at one of their large shaded tables and enjoyed our fare. Again really worth supporting as there nowt coming from a crooked Westminster government who know the price of everything but the value of nothing abd know how to claim eye watering sums in 'expenses'. It these dishonest crooks could flog this place circa cut to a private operator based in the Cayman's it would be gone in a heart beat as so much already has.

I go to Avebury at least every 2 weeks as I live nearby. I always try to have a vegan scone here but they are rarely available. I was there a couple of weeks ago on my own (i often go with a friend) so had to take my (little) dog inside to queue and would have eaten outside. It was busy and after about 5 minutes waiting a server came up to me and said "I have to ask you to leave". "? Why?" - "because you have a dog and dogs aren't allowed". I turned around and said that the lady over there is sat eating with her little dog. "that's a service dog" I was told (it was a tiny schitzhu). At no point was I asked if my dog was a service dog and frankly I was so p*ssed off I couldn't be bothered to discuss it such was her attitude. Why should a dog be allowed in you ask? A. there was someone else with a little dog. B: It's a country cafe. C; there was no obvious sign saying I couldn't. I did look for a sign after, and there was one on the door however the door was open so the sign was not visible. Out of principle I won't eat here again.

We have visited this tea room every year for over 40 years as a vital stop on our trip to Devon and have held it as much a part of our holiday. This year was the first time it failed to maintain the quality of standards it had set. The selection of snacks was minimal (only two sandwiches choices) the quality of which was unpleasant and not at all fresh. As a National Trust member of 57 years l no longer hold this venue as a quality place to visit.

The original cafe seems to have been destroyed by the weather in early 2018. This place is the stand in until the cafe reopens. As a place it's not massive but has the distinct advantage over the pub of being able to get to service in a fairly quick time. The coffee and cake I tried was good. And nice to see filtered coffees available instead of the dreaded imitation Italian styles that are so frequently offered in such places. Staff are friendly and the place while busy is clean. If you're visiting avebury and fancy a brew, i'd definitely drop in.

Service was a little too relaxed for someone used to London but the price of my Latte was comparable to those in the metropolis though size wise was not overly generous. However was made up for with a excellent & hearty fish chowder which (I guess) was freshly prepared due to the time it took to be delivered to my table. Really warmed a chilled traveller who’d braved the wild weather and filled him up for the rest of the day ahead.

Popped in here after a very cold walk round the standing stones. The cafe wasn’t particularly cosy and the tables and benches weren’t clean. It is counter service and clear your own tables but the prices were average for the coffee and high for cake. I didn’t have cake due to the price! The coffee was weak and bitter and disappointing.

I think when you opt to eat breakfast in a supermarket cafe there aren’t expectations of gourmet food. However I think there are standards you should be able to expect and Morrisons spectacularly fell short of even the lowest expectations! My breakfast was just over £11 as I added a couple of extras. Mushrooms were tinned and cold. Tomatoes were chopped tinned and cold. Bacon was lightly warmed in the microwave and came complete with flabby undercooked rind and was covered in white gunk. Sausage was deep fried, and of the quality that even the dog would turn its nose up at. Hash browns were overdone but passable. Toast came cold and chewy with a nice slab of hard butter on top! All this came with a cappuccino that tasted like the machine needed a good clean and service lacking anything close to a smile! I won’t be returning to experience their vile offerings again!

Sadly it was terrible! We have been here many times and it’s been fantastic, however this was our first visit since last September and I think it will be our last. Clearly not many staff on arrival as a little while before we were greeted (not a major prob) the restaurant looked liked a bomb site, messed up dirty tables, serviette’s and food littering the floor however a young lad (glasses, curly dark hair) was trying his best to keep customers happy and clean up. At the carvery we waited a good 10 mins before we were served as no staff, what was left of the meats were dried under the lights and the veg was dry and curling at the edges, it was awful. Finally we were served by a nice young lad who got a new piece of beef and trimmed the dry bits from the gammon. The Yorkshire puddings were in a white storage box behind the food bar and they were totally soggy and resembled pancakes, I did complain at this point as clearly they were also cold to which another member of staff went to find some more. Eventually lovely fresh ones appeared. Serving spoons were directly under the heaters and were scalding even using approx 10 of the serviette’s. Peas were so dry the colour had been zapped from the top ones. Finally gravy, no there were just 2 empty messy pots. Luckily a member of staff came out the kitchen so we could ask for more. It took ages as clearly they had to make more. Finally it arrived and clearly made in a hurry as it was so lumpy but at least it was hot enough to put a bit of heat back in the other cold food. Result…. The meat wasn’t edible, I like fatty meat but the beef was tough with awful chewy, rubbery fat all though it, the Yorkshire pudding was so full of oil my daughter tipped it all over herself and the gravy was lumpy. The best bit was the cabbage! The waiter seemed embarrassed and kept checking on us doing his best and was so lovely and apologetic that i didn’t complain further. We purchased the meal with a voucher, had we not had that voucher I would have refused to pay. It was so sad to see what has been such a great restaurant (we travelled an hour to go to) turn to the mess that it was yesterday and I can only see it getting worse with the pressure the few staff you have left are having to put up with, many to young to cope with it :(
