Wanted to find somewhere peaceful for brunch and this charming little cafe hit the spot. Very friendly staff - regular customers are treated like family. It was our first visit and we were very well looked after too. There were some problems with the gas supply, but even so the kitchen turned out an excellent veggie fry-up for me and breakfast sandwich for my friend. She enjoyed her cappucino and I was glad of a pot of peppermint tea with some gluten-free toast and marmalade. All very reasonably priced, too. We left feeling full and happy, and resolving to come again next time we're in Shrewsbury.

Lovely breakfast, freshly prepared with friendly staff and excellent value for money, what else could you want?! We were staying just around the corner at the Premier Inn so this was so handy after we checked out and were ready for something to eat. Gluten free fully catered for. (Even the sausages were gf!) We would highly recommend this lovely cafe.

Superb lunch! Went with a friend for a birthday lunch. She is gluten free but they did a special sauce for her poached salmon and lovely vegetables. I had fish, chips and peas with tartare sauce. Sounds simple? It was the best fish and chips I've had for years. Cherries and Ice Cream to follow with great coffee at the end. First of many visits.

Staying nearby we decided to have breakfast here. The full English consisted of 2 sausage, 2 bacon slices, 2 eggs, beans and mushrooms. It also included toast and marmalade. £4.95 worth every penny. Found this little cafe halfway between the station and Premier Inn. Clean, welcoming and friendly and obviously popular with the locals. The Churchill breakfast was excellent! When asked if it would be possible to have breakfast again the following day, Sunday, we were told that although they didn't usually do breakfast on a Sunday as they were busy preparing Sunday lunches, if we pushed the door open about 10.30 we would be accommodated.Which we did and were treated to another excellent breakfast. Would highly recommend and will certainly return to on our next visit to Shrewsbury.

They get to know their customers, who they then treat as friends. The coffee is highly recommended. We have not had reason to complain in all the time we have used Churchills. The price is very reasonable, you do not feel over charged.Atmosphere is pleasant with music playing in the background, never to loud, so holding a conversation is not disturbed by this.Overall worth a visit.

If your looking for a well cooked breakfast look no further than Churchill's. As we were staying in the Premier Inn only 2 or 3 min walk away across the road from the bus station. We went on the advice of Trip Adviser reviews. We were not disappointed as we were here on a 3 night break we had our breakfast here. 2 Vegetarians & 2 Full English freshly cooked to order & plenty of toast. The Vegetarian breakfasts were the best we've ever had anywhere our companions had the English which they enjoyed. I have to sat nothing is to much trouble they even cater for the fussiest eaters, to the extent my friend doesn't like egg yolks so they just cooked the whites for her brilliant.A little secret they are closed on Mondays but if you give the door a little push at 9.00 you are sure of a warm welcome and a very nice breakfast but don't leave it to late as they are closed before 11.30.

After a previous visit when all I had time for was a coffee, we called in Churchill's this week to have lunch after a busy morning Christmas shopping. We took a seat and immediately were approached and asked if we would like a drink while we perused the menu. There was also a small selection of meals on the special's board. We both chose from the light lunch menu, with me having a 2 filling baked potato & his nibs selected a 3 filling toastie. The meals arrived promptly. My baked potato was large, cooked to perfection and had plenty of filling. The toastie was also very well filled and made with thick bread. Both meals included sides of salad, nachos & coleslaw at no extra cost. We had good food at a very reasonable price. The staff were knowledgeable and attentive throughout our visit and are a credit to Churchill's. Although not local to Shropshire, we shall definitely call when we are next in Shrewsbury.

We were staying at the Premier Inn 2 minutes walk away from this cafe and as we don't like eating food that has been kept warm under hot lamps we decided to try this cafe. What a find. The hostess was very friendly and cooked almost anything we asked for (we were 6 in number). The service was brilliant as she attended our every need and the food was fantastic value for money. She topped up our coffees as and when we required and then only charged us £22 for all 6 breakfasts! We asked if she was open the next day (Sunday) and she said no, but if we knocked on the door she would serve us breakfast as she would be in preparing lunches and she did exactly that and again we got good food and fabulous service. Talk about a personal service, it couldn't have been better. The food was freshly cooked and hot. Perfect!

Visited with my mum a few weeks ago and would never go back. When we walked in we could see half the tables had crumbs on them, so they had been cleared, but not wiped down properly despite no-one else being in there. It's not like someone was just about to do so either, because during our whole visit it was not done. We found a table that looked clean, but the table mats were sticky. My mum said something like "the mats are filthy", and I guess this was overheard because a server arrived and wiped them down, but mine still had a glob of something like old honey on it. It looked like it had been there ages, wiped over lightly but never properly looked at by anyone who had done so. There were splatters of someting brown (HP sauce or gravy?) in the sugar bowl, and various food marks on the wall. If there had been other people there we would have slipped out, but we were too embarassed to because we were the only people there. We ordered something quick and easy, thinking it couldn't go wrong. But my mum said her baked potato was so hard it must have been left-over not just from yesterday but days old. She could barely cut through it and left most of it, and said the prawns were weirdly chewy. My scampi tasted ok, but the pieces weren't very big so I'm not so sure the wholetail claim on the menu was correct, and the chips just tasted like flour. Even my hot chocolate was horrible and watery. Our server dissappeared after dropping off the food, so we didn't give a chance to give any feedback. We had to call out to get someone from the kitchen to pay, and when someone did appear she went to get someone else (from the kitchen area she ahd just come from) who apparently would be able to charge us. When the third person appeared, she didn't know what we had or what to charge anyway. We were honest and paid in full, just to get out of there quickly rather than waste our time with trying to complain, because we needed to get on. The staff were all perfectly polite, though seemingly disinterested in asking how our food was, and clearly no-one was overseeing that cleaning standards were upheld. We didn't expect anything fancy when we walked in, we just wanted something basic and fairly cheap, but there are other places in town that you can get this without the dirty tables (dirty most things in fact) and sub-standard ingredients.

We decided to stop off in Shrewsbury to walk along the river. Looking for somewhere to get some lunch, we came across the very uninviting looking Churchill's cafe. From the menu outside we could see that they served the usual snack lunches. However, we were pleased to find a cosy room inside and a roast Sunday lunch with a choice of four different roasts including salmon. There was also a choice of starter and desserts. The atmosphere was very friendly and the food was superb. It was all freshly cooked and a marvellous selection of vegetables. The portions were so generous I could only manage a main course, but my husband couldn't resist the delicious pudding. If I lived in Shrewsbury, I would eat here every Sunday! Excellent value too!

On Saturday 26th October I was visiting a friend in Shrewsbury and we decided before we toured the city we would have some breakfast. After ignoring some rather of the more well known branded restaurants we came across Churchills Cafe adjacent to Shrewsbury Bus Station. Well? What an excellent choice this little cafe proved to be! A welcoming hostess showed us to our table and promptly took our order of three full English breakfasts with coffee and tea. Our drinks arrived first. Coffee for my friends and for me a silver tray decked with teapot, hot water and cup and saucer. Quite delightfu. Even better were the top-ups which were free! Our food arrived and I can quite honestly sy that this was one of the finest and tastiest breakfasts I have EVER eaten. At £3.95 it has to be also the best value. If you are in Shrewsbury as a ourist or for a shopping trip make sure that you start your day off with a visit to Churchills. You will not be disappointed.
