Bar staff very informative about different celebrations going on in pub , John & James the chefs excellent food

A tough review to write because I think the people are trying hard. The problem is the food. I ordered the ultimate curry. Not good. This was because: - Curry was cold. - The naan I had to cut with a knife because it was so hard. - The meal was a lot of things that didn’t make a great meal. Better, hot & more curry is the place to start and get rid of most of the rest. Inside it looked like a nice pub. I was surprised that it closed at 9pm. Odd.

We used this pub to celebrate my brother’s 60th in the private room by the bar. Everything was perfect. Food, drinks & atmosphere. Special thanks to Christina, Richard & Charlene for the first class service & constantly checking in to make sure everything was ok. Definitely will go back & would recommend.

Come in every weekend it's a lovely atmosphere, food is lovely and the staff are all very accommodating. All in all would recommend coming here.

Always get great service from staff after my tiring day of work. The food is superb and excellent value for money. Special mention for Richard and Christina, so professional yet warm and welcoming going above and beyond to accommodate us on every visit. Definitely recommend the salmon 🙂

Terrible rude staff food not what it should have been .NEVER AGAIN

Ordered Mega Mixed Grill. Only thing Mega about it was Price. Upgrade to a 8oz Rump, given 5oz Rump. Told it was a 8oz because of the cut. Use to be a Butcher, YOU LIAR. NEVER GO HERE AGAIN !!!!!!!!

It's a great place to watch people kicking off and they need more staff and poor woman working behind the bar should have a pay rise

Held my dads wake here 24/09 lovely food not your traditional buffet but absolutely lovely staff were really helpful and friendly. Today was dad's internment so with family visited again for a family celebration meal. Fantastic food,service and atmosphere will visit again and certainly recommend

This is awesome venue for socialising eating Excellent food service staff very friendly professional at all times. We held a family lunch in the private function room.The room catered for every request we required.If you looking a venue private which holds up Fifty people

We came here with family for my sons 18th, food was lovely, staff really helpful and friendly. A relaxed atmosphere and somewhere for the younger children to play and have fun before there food arrives.

I held my Daughters Birthday party in the soft play centre and it really did exceed all expectations! Fantastic value for money but even more importantly the customer service was amazing. The lady hosting the party was the best I have ever come across and I have held many children’s parties in many soft plays over the years! She was friendly, efficient and really did have everything under control. Once the party had finished we enjoyed meals in the main bar area where the bar man was also super friendly and made us feel completely welcome. Both of these members of staff are an absolute credit to the Church Tavern and we look forward to returning soon.

Cheap and cheerful is exactly what it seid on the tin you get what you pay for so can't complain you get exactly what is offered

The food was mostly delicious, especially the Halloumi and Tandoori sizzlers, Spicy Chicken Nachos, Crispy Chicken Wings and the Boss Burger. The steak was a bit chewy but otherwise nice. Love the Passion Fruit Cooler. The staff are really nice, especially the guy; he always gives really great service and is very friendly. The one thing I’d say is there should be a card device for tipping for people who don’t use cash. Thank you.

Great service, food was very tasty and piping hot. Service by the bar and floor staff was fast and friendly. Pub and toilets were so clean.

Fantastic place to eat and drink. The staff were very polite and accommodated us an hour earlier than we should have been there. The food was of high quality and was served to us very swiftly. 'The Greek' burger was delicious but everyone enjoyed their meal. Highly recommended.

Went as a family and we all unfortunately ended up with a stomach bug which lasted about 3 days. Sent an email to the customer team yet they still have not come up with any resolution in the email response other than an apology. This is not good enough as you caused a family of 5 including a small toddler to become very ill. Food was very try and tasteless. Gloomy atmosphere, uncontrollable kids running around you screaming/shouting whilst you’re trying to eat. Staff didn’t bother to come and clean off tables, this had to be done ourselves. Will not be returning.

Stopped by for two can eat for 11pounds and the fish and chips were generous and yummy. Went back the next day. Great atmosphere for our large party of 9

We have been going to the church taven for some considerable time and each time we go it gets better and better Tina and the girls are doing a fantastic job great food great atmosphere

Went with a mixed grouped of kids as an end of term celebration, one of the few places left with a soft play and pub which is great to let the kids let off steam. Food was good. Had surf and turf which came out sizzling, not too pricey but good pub grub and a wide range to choose from. Good range of cocktails and drinks (mocktails for those that weren't drinking). Staff were friendly and accommodating.

We had a large group to play in the soft play and for a meal. We had a group of 17 all the food came together and was all hot, service was fantastic from Lindsay, Tegan and Christina

I went in for a quiet supper and beer quite early in the evening, and had a wonderful meal (sizzling salmon) and a well-kept pint. The staff were particularly welcoming and also efficient.

Very good food for crazy cheap.

Food was lovely and the staff were very pleasant. However, people were smoking drugs next to the entrance and in the seating outside.

Had my son's 5th birthday here on Sunday. The staff were amazing and really helpful and welcoming and everyone had an amazing time, the food was nice and having the exclusive package was a bonus as we had it to ourselves. We visit regularly and never have a problem. We love coming to the church tavern. Thank you everyone for your help on Sunday! Would definitely recommend.

Great staff food was tremendous hadn't been for a while very professional the atmosphere was just right no overly loud music you get in other pubs. I would definitely recommend and would definitely go back, thank you to all.

Had lunch there with my daughter. Hadn't been for a while. The food was absolutely delicious. We both opted for the Sizzling Menu: tandoori chicken and sweet chilli halloumi. I also had sticky toffee pudding, which was so good. Need to visit again soon!

Food arrived hot and in a timely manner, staff were polite, friendly and helpful throughout, Tina the manager was super helpful when we left behind one of my little ones items on the table, and kept them safe for us until we could pop back to collect

My partner and I have been wanting to try this lovely looking pub for a while and we gave it a go for our anniversary meal. It was fabulous! Food was incredible and service was great. Overall very clean, well presented and welcoming atmosphere. Will now be regular customers!

Visited with family of 7, they reserved a table for us and was located in a quiet area for all of us to enjoy. Richard was very helpful and offered great services. Also Leah was a great help and offered wonderful service. Would definitely recommend and would definitely be back again.

Well what can I say the kids absolutely loved the funhouse, which was a great addition the food was amazing and the staff were super friendly and helpful. The place just had a lovely feel and atmosphere to it. We will definitely be returning customers.

The service was amazing not only from the staff in the front bar but also from the kitchen aswel as fuzzy eds. The food was very nice I could not fault it, I had a special requirement and the staff made it their up most best to make it happen. The staff was extremely lovely and was there if I had any questions and was happy to awnser I could not fault one bit. I will definitely be coming back without doubt. Lovely and well clean environment, the staff is very polite and welcoming. Food is very nice if there is any requirements the staff are more than happy to make their up most best to deliver. Fuzzy eds is very clean and well kept, after the tables have been used the fuzzy eds staff clean them straight away ready for use for another family. If there is any spillage the staff are quick enough to make sure its cleaned up.

Food was cold and burnt, food and drink took ages to come to the table.

Terrible! It’s that simple. Ordered 6 meals for one table, the one meal came then waited 50 minutes until the others arrived eventually, awful service, never again.

Bring my kids at least once a week as they absolutely love it,it’s cheap and cheerful and by far the best soft play around! My kids always have the best time in the soft play and then we have dinner after which is always really nice and definitely decent priced! The soft play is free for an hour min-Wednesday which is really good and they have deals on the food,so kids eat for £1 with a paying adult main meal. We have a great time and go home with our belly’s full!

Dark and grubby, I had the chicken platter and ended up with food poisoning, I won’t be going back not impressed.

Ordered a delivery online and my order was missing items I rang up and spoke to the manager who was rude and very unhelpful, won’t be ordering or eating in this pub again! From someone who’s always been a loyal customer you don’t expect this treatment.

Although this pub is advertised as a child friendly place, it is an absolute disgusting place apparently without a drinking policy where people can be getting wasted, shout, bang into the table and walk up to people and basically harass them, and they are still getting served pint after pint, whilst kids are inside of the building as well. I d urge especially families with kids to stay away from this place

Just can't go here anymore. It's just so run down, the food it terrible. The soft play is filthy and the toilets haven't been fixed or looked after now for nearly 4 years... Dryer doesn't work, dried toilet roll splats all over ceiling for 4 years, no soap, cold taps. Tables always sticky. Menus not cleaned. Can you imagine the last time the cleaned the balls in the ball pit?! Like never is my guess. It's just rotten. Service slow and the whole place is a dive! Never again.

I was here today with my daughter to play in the wacky and there was a lovely blonde girl who was in agony as she had hurt her back, the girl was almost in tears when her co workers/manger said she couldn’t go home due to short staff, it was so sad to c this girl being treated this way , hope the poor girl is ok.

We have been going to the church tavern for years and the food gets better and better. We tried the new menu yesterday i had the boss burger and my partner had the "laying it on chick" both were absolutely delicious! Great service always 👌

Very much catering for families, closed early, very limited selection of draft beers not to my taste. Staff were very welcoming & on the ball.Salmon was good but not sure what chips are made from.

Kids loved the play area But staff was very slow to respond Friday night and one barmaid working the bar while a manager? Fellow colleague? watched even tho people were waiting a head of me and behind me. I'd called ahead explaining I'd be bringing in a party 12+ and still no effort to make it smooth service we arrived before 7pm and was willing to spend but having to wait so long to get served put most of us off having a good drink, we all wanted food and snacks but only one of us bothered Wouldn't arrange this for a night out again unfortunately

It’s always so lovely coming here. Been here a fair few times over the years. Food is great, the cocktails are lovely. And the staff are wonderful! Such a chilled out atmosphere and will recommend to go here again and again and again. I don’t have a bad word to ever say about here :)
