Visited on a quiet Wednesday lunchtime in glorious sunshine. We both had coffee and the Coronation Chicken wrap with a piece of coffee cake. We sat outside overlooking the picturesque marina with dozens of colourful narrowboats. We then strolled around the marina admiring the beautifully kept grounds. Really nice way to spend a relaxing hour or two in lovely surroundings .

We only called in for a quick snack. Which became the carrot soup. It was really nice. It is a touch unusual to have it accompanied by ready buttered sliced bread, but hey ho. It all went down rather well. We have been many years ago. Perhaps we should call in more often.

Went with grandchildren for an ice cream, not the first visit during Covid. On this occasion we were told we couldn't have a high chair for a baby outside because we hadn't booked in advance. They were happy to let us in and to take our money but couldn't see how stupid it was to deny us a high chair simply because we hadn't booked. The member of staff came out to take our Covid tracking details reminding us that since we hadn't booked, strictly speaking we shouldn't be there. (Only one other table was taken on the entire premises). When we questioned the poor service, she then proceeded to tell us that the cafe was just a side line and not their main business so they weren't bothered if customers didn't come. Avoid this place, go somewhere where you will be welcome.

We were in need of boating services so called ahead to Aqueduct for information. We were advised that they closed at 1700 so we were thrilled to arrive (by the skin of our teeth) at 1640. Trying to access the facilities we needed was like pulling teeth, and trying to pay for these services included a trek around the whole facility before an impatient gentleman took my money. He was intimidating and obviously desperate to close the marina at 1700. We finally left at 1705 feeling rushed and flustered. The only saving grace were 2 lovely couples sitting at the rear of their boat adjacent to the wharf who were really friendly and helpful - even offering us a G&T to cheer us up. This is not the first time we have visited and each time we leave feeling disgruntled. Customer Service is obviously not a priority here.

We stayed in our motorhome on the site and was given so much wrong information from various staff when we asked where is the local pub, we first got told it’s 20 minutes down the canal tow path think again it’s at least 45 minutes down a very precarious overgrown towpath under a bridge then climbing over into the farmers field and down another pathway. On the way back we took the road feeling this may be a safer option, 1.9 miles to the aqueduct Marina in a dark unlit road with no footpath just hedges and nettles to jump into when the traffic came flying along at full speed. We were also told by a young lady in reception twice as we questioned it that the toilet waste went down the drain next to the van what she actually meant was it’s the grey waste that goes down the drain and the toilet waste goes into the Elsan point on the marina. We also asked for two coffees from the coffee shop one morning and there was Absolutely no one sitting at any other table and she asked if we had booked a table. What a joke... no one in the place and she wants us to book a table for a quick cuppa that was extremely expensive anyway in our option. You really need a car to travel around here as there is no footpaths to walk anywhere around safely. Staff give wrong information and basically i would never come back as found the local details from the booking and staff to be very misleading and all in all it was very distressing the whole time and no refunds available as they don’t feel they misled us or told us any untruths.Think again before coming here.

We stayed over last week on way back from Devon to Cumbria as a stopover. The site is lovely with large pitches with electric and water on each pitch. The showers and toilets are spotless and less than 30 seconds walk away from pitches so I really don't how other people have complained about facilities too far away unless they are extremely lazy!!The location is great and the marina is amazing to sit at cafe and watch and to look aroundA special big thank you to Sallie who went out of her way on her weekend off to post my caravan keys back to me as the day I got home in Cumbria I realised I had lost my caravan keys.Within minutes of me ringing the marina Sallie has walked over to the pitch I had stayed and found my keys and arranged to post them to meI would recommend this site and plan on staying again, the cafe even sells bread and milk if you have ran out !

The site is in a lovely location, views of the moored canal boats and countryside was relaxing. All staff were friendly and helpful, Not a child friendly site due to it being a working site, near water and nothing for them to do. The pitches were spacious with electric and water, the chemical disposal point was inside a purpose built building, clean, all facilities you could need, great if it's bad weather, however, you need transport to get to the nearest village and pub. The cafe was clean and served good food by Glen who was always friendly and helpful. For a peaceful break, you could not do better, a friendly welcome from Georgia and good food served in the cafe, we didn't need more.Great place, I am looking forward to going back!

Stayed here for the April bank holiday in our campervan. Great views and the marina is lovely. Food on the site is really good but a little expensive I thought for what you were getting. Toilets and showers are fine and didn't matter what time you went for a shower I could always use one and they were always clean. Only trouble was lack of staff after 6pm. First night we stayed was fine but the second night a couple in their 60's came back to there caravan drunk and started kicking off at each other and the wife saying to her husband 'I dare you to hit me again' no staff to report it too and I was tempted to call the police but last time this happened to me on a site there was no evidence and of coarse the rest of my stay i'm getting dirty looks so I thought you know what I am not getting involved. The next morning they carried on arguing but we went out for the day. Our final day they were both not talking to each other lol. Most other campsites do have someone on patrol which I think they need to do just in case of trouble. Other than that it was fine

Paid £8.60 for a pot of tea for two; and a couple of small, rather stale pieces of cake.Perhaps the problem was that we arrived half an hour before closing time, midweek low season; but the quality of the food was poor. I ordered a slice of cherry sponge, only for the waitress to inform me some five minutes later that the cherry sponge had 'got a bit hard in the fridge, so would I like something else'? The alternative turned out to be dry and somewhat stale, as was the cake served to my wife.I understand that it must be hard to manage stocks of perishable items when a lot of your customers are 'passing trade', but this was poor–and expensive to boot–and we're unlikely to go back any time soon.

About 12 months ago we gave a 'poor' review - and that was generous. It was definitely a 'bad day'. A disaster in terms of the food delivered and the ineffective service. BUT, 12 months on we have been back twice recently, and each time the breakfast (and egg and bacon sandwich made from 'door stops' of very fresh bread) have been very good indeed. I was close on giving this review 5 stars for the breakfasts - but not only because the sausages were not to my best liking. But really good value anyway. I did see some other diners were having Sunday roast dinners and I'm definitely going back to try them. Those plates of food looked great. Maybe a Sunday roast review will follow before too long. What a great come back though!

We have just returned from a week narrow boating and passed this marina on our journey. On our 2nd day we stopped opposite the marina and decided to have lunch here, a beautiful day, great service and lovely food made us want to come back to eat here on our way home. So on our 6th evening we moored up for the night approx 500m past the marina and again walked across to eat here and again great service and food. We had been in search of bread and milk on our journey that day and had failed to get anything from Venetian as they had sold out (but were very nice). We happened to ask the girls if we could buy some bread and ended up leaving with bread milk eggs and cakes, great result. Around 7pm our 7yr old pointed out a problem with the toilet on our boat and although our hire company had advised we wouldn't have to bother with the toilet, we discovered it was full! We rang them and they told us (not in the slightest bothered) to take it to a boat yard and have it pumped out.... At 7pm! We were already past the marina and it would have taken about 90 mins to go to the next turning point and back and even then would not get it sorted at that time. We rang Aquaduct and an answerphone message offered an emergency number which after a 5 min discussion we decided we would have to try it. The owner answered and after a mumbled conversation due to poor signal walked along the canal side to find us..... He instructed us to reverse the boat over to his side, him and his young son climbed on board and reversed the boat back up the canal, through a narrow gap and into his marina. He moored us up, explained the staff would be in at 8am to sort the pump out and showed us to the shower and toilet block and invited us to make use of the facilities! Honestly we couldn't believe someone offering such a great gesture to us, we would have had an unthinkable night with a 7 & 4 yr old with absolutely no use of the toilet! The showers and toilets were immaculate and a welcome relief and at 8am the boat was being dealt with. We have not received service like this from anyone for a long time, wouldn't life be easier if everyone was this nice! So thank you Aquaduct marina, for lovely food, essential provisions and great service, we would recommend to anyone passing.

After another 15mins 2 plates arrived, but no toast. Another 10 mins and the 3rd arrived (with soggy toast). Another 10 mins and the last arrived - completely wrong order. Ate it nevertheless - so hungry. After another 10 mins the toast arrived for the first 2 meals! Unbelievable. Though have to say that manager came to us and offered we need not pay in view of delays. I was told I didn't ask for a pot of tea ? and if you don't ask they give a cup .Next one of our sandwiches arrived which was well presented but salad had decreased and they no longer had tortillas on plate . We have visited on around 3 - 4 occasions and never been disappointed. Meals have varied from the specials from the board which all sound tantalising to a sandwich and bowl of HOME MADE CHIPS !!!!! The last visit was the latter and when I enquired as to whether it was very thick bread the chef came out with a slice for me to see and even offered to cut the crusts off. She was extremely accommodating and the sandwich was lovely, as were the chips. Just up my street as I won't tolerate frozen chips no matter how good they say they are. Not very competitive considering you can go anywhere nowadays and get a meal deal for children including crisps, drink and fruit for the same price.Poor overall defiantly wouldn't recommend especially as its out of the way.
