Stopped off here on a walk with friends. Only had drinks but the service was good by friendly staff. Food looked nice that people around us ordered. Great outdoor space. Would highly recommend.

Stopped on the off chance of getting lunch after walking the dog. 2pm on a Monday is usually a no go in the countryside. We were welcomed by lovely staff, great undercover outside seating area and fab service. Food and beer were fresh and well presented. Thank you

First time back since last year.booked a table with two friends, got seated to nice table clean and a bit of a sun trap. food was really nice, all of us had the fish and chips, good quality. the draught beer was lovely.all staff wore masks while Serving , the toilets were clean. perfect night thank you church house inn, will be back.

Lovely local pub with a big welcome and even bigger portions !! The chicken tempura starter was huge followed by full plates of fish and chips and scampi for mains . The home made chips are AMAZING. Would definitely recommend 5*

A nice cosy little pub with great food, we were served again today by Holly, she is always on hand to offer great service.We don’t go out too often for Sunday lunch as it is normally disappointing, but the Church House Sutton is worth a try the Yorkshire puddings are nice and normal looking not like the big ones elsewhere that taste of cardboard, the meat is always tender the roast potatoes are lovely served with buttery mash veg and tasty gravy. The wine and other drinks are very reasonable . There is a large well spaced out beer garden and child’s play area to the rear with a small covered seating area.From next the 5th Oct there is a special food offer for NHS & Key workers.

First time in The Church Inn.The food Board Looked Very Impressive .I just Wanted Something Light And A pint.No problem Light meals Available.I went For The Scampi And Chips It Also Came WithA Nice Salad On The Side. Friendly Bar Staff.Nice Clean Sitting Area Outside.With nice views.Nice Choice Of Real ales.I Shall Be Back.

Rare visit to the beer garden. Covid freiendly and nice beer garden overlooking the nearby hills. The two lagers we had were very nice and not overpriced. Didnt try the food, but the menu looked very appealing.

Taking advantage of the weather we ventured out to a few beer gardens around Sutton and Langley. Mixed results really, the Sutton Hall website said bookings for inside so when we found a table outside with no reservation, we were set. Unfortunately we were then told we needed to book for outside, lost business for them.Ye Olde Kings Head had a great atmosphere and we enjoyed a pint there. Busy road with farm vehicles though so we headed here.Friendly staff, name on a slip of paper, order at the bar (Hobgoblin), toddle off to the garden at the back. No issues with seating, it's a spacious area for dining, drinking and for kids to play.Couple on horses came by for some refreshment, chatted with us and the owner, all very civilised, you could forget the epidemic and relax in the sun. Happy days.

Called in this evening the food was lovely salmon cooked to perfection excellent menu something to suit all tastes.

We called today and had a lovely lunch. Food presented well and plenty of it.The staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.The atmosphere was great. We sat near the roaring fire which was most welcome as it was so cold outside.It was so good I'm bringing my mum tomorrow for lunch.

Very friendly accommodating staff nothings to much trouble. Looks to have recently had a bit of a refresh new seat coverings etc. The food here is good and you certainly don’t leave hungry it’s nothing fussy or fancy just honest pub type grub at a reasonable price

Service and staff are very good. The main menu is adequate, yet the specials board adds something special, and the homemade chips are fab. Plenty of parking and a great children's play area. Could do with a makeover, new chairs and tables.

Friend and I lunch there once a month. Have tried other pubs, but none of them match up to this one. Lovely atmosphere, good food, and friendliest staff in Macclesfield. Highly recommend.

Called for lunch and the food was okay. I ordered chilli with half rice and half chips and was shocked to be charged extra because I had half chips. Never come across that before so maybe they should receive.

I came here a few weeks ago with my boyfriend and family, we were sat outside as it was lovely weathered ordered drinks from the bar and as we came in we said hello to Sheila (the owner) to have no reply what so ever, after we’d finished our meals to see the owner and her colleagues laughing and pointing at us. What I find even more infuriating is the fact that they did the exact same thing this time last year when we visited! I could hear them imitating my boyfriends accent (as he’s from Liverpool) laughing and joking with a little group of people like school kids on a playing field. I’ve never met/ seen such horrible disrespectful people and the cheek that they have considering we’re paying customers! I’ve lived in Sutton all my life so it’s not like she doesn’t know us. We left and got into our car as they continued to laugh and point at us now in the car! Gossiping like school girls. Sheila is one of the most short minded disrespectful people I have ever met. We will never be giving her our custom again. Ignorant. Rude. And down right nasty.

Booked a table for 6.30 on Saturday Evening for husbands birthday. Welcomed by bar staff. Ordered our meal. We were not disappointed my stilton and mushroom pudding was absolutely delicious, husband had the steak and ale pie and friend had the steak off the specials board, we had a extra portion of onion rings too,. All meals as per usual were hot, chips perfect and thoroughly enjoyable. My husband especially enjoys the beers and we will be returning as soon as we can! Thank u.

Visited for first time for Sunday lunch, excellent roast beef and steak/kidney pudding - generous portion - nice atmosphere with friendly staff - good choice of beer - will eat at the Church House again when in the area!

It was a lovely sunny day so we sat outside.my husband had the mixed grill our friend had the rump steak and I had the steak and kidney pudding. We also had portion of onion rings and cheesey garlic bread. We all so enjoyed our meals everything was hot and both our friend and husband said the steak was absolutely delicious. The chips were as brill as ever thanks also to the brilliant staff who are always so pleasont and welcoming. We visit as and when we can and hope to return soon. It is well worth a visit for the beer as well as the food. It also has a good flat car park for anyone with walking probs. There are outside tables and covered area too. Lovely country pub.

We went recently with friends and had a good evening. The beer and food choice are both excellent and portions not too huge. My only 2 comments, as I have mentioned before are the lack of space for the servers to serve food, as the chairs stick out too much and the side salad/veg just needs to be a bit bigger. They use big plates and it looks a bit sparse, an extra few slices of carrot wouldnt cost the earth and finish off a generally excellent meal. We managed a dessert, which are generally always on the 'winter' side of things, this time being sticky toffee pudding, a bit dense but very nice.Service is always pleasant and meals are reasonably priced. Will return !

Have been lots of times at different times of the year. Always good home cooked food, lots of choice and specials board added extra. Have been through most of menu now and particularly enjoy the chicken jalfrazi, pie of the day, both chillis and the roast dinner. You don't have to wait ages to be served your food, and great idea having small portions for those with not a huge appetite. Have taken lots of friends and relatives here and they have all enjoyed it.

Four of us had a very nice meal recently. The welcome and service was good, as was the choice of real ales. Both my wife and I had the cajun chicken which was lovely, though I would have preferred to have veg instead of salad. Meals are around a tenner and up.The one minor negative is the amount of room between the chairs, as its a bit tight to get around or for the servers to dish out the food.

Indifferent management is what stops this place from aspiring to be anything else other than average. Have eaten here on a number of occasions hoping things would get better but they do not. The Sunday roast (particularly the beef) is cooked to death which is very disappointing and begs the question why bother coming back?That said I am ever the optimist and hope Management will clue up and realise that catering to the lowest common denominator is not the way to go when it comes to food. Another tip: try being more welcoming. The bar staff are great but management seems to have a 'take it or leave it' approach to business which not really conducive to the hospitality business.

If you want good home-cooked food at a reasonable price this is the place for you. It is a traditional pub where a warm welcomes awaits. Service is friendly and prompt. I had the Steak, Guinness and Stilton pie which was excellent. Masses of steak and just the right amount of Stilton to make it interesting without being overpowering. My dining companion had the roast duck leg which was done perfectly with masses of crispy skin. The only slight downside was the chips which were a little on the soggy side, but the other vegetables were cooked very well. Definitely recommended.

Whilst staying in langley, we visited the Church House Inn for dinner one night. I can honestly say it was one of the best choices we have made! Myself and my partner both had the best steak and ale pie... They have a great menu, with also a specials board. Lots of lagers/wines and ales. I would 100% return.

Camped nearby and had meals here every evening. Can't fault the food, service or staff. We intend on coming back to the same campsite this year and once sorted out the tent, we'll be back to the church house for a good meal

The views really nice sitting outside. Kids were happy, lots of parking, free wi-fi, tasty nosh and happy locals. Thinking of booking for Christmas. Wheelchair friendly, but no dogs. Make sure you get. Mixed grill. Local produce!

Absolutely lovely. Welcoming, friendly atmosphere. Brilliant hosts. Clare and her staff are amazing. Christmas menu really good, and tasted great. Wonderful Tia maria chocolate mousse dessert. 😊. Was our second time there and will definitely go again.

Great warm welcoming pub. Good home cooked food from either menu or specials. We visited sat afternoon and busy already. All tables reserved for food but offered table no problem. Three of party chose the pie which was lovely served with fresh veg which is nice change. Other chose chilli with rice and chips. Very good, nice and hot, great comfort food. Service great and with a smile, nothing too much trouble. Will be returning very soon.

We have been going to this pub for over a year on at least a weekly basis and it never disappoints. The food is consistently good and the service is quick despite it being busy on occasions. Our preference is always lasagne - never tasted better anywhere else. There is an extensive menu but we keep coming back for the lasagne! Staff are always very friendly and obliging. It is certainly a pub to visit if you are in the area.

£15 for a mixed grill that consisted of a frying steak, a gammon chop that that had a funny odour, and a crunchy deep fried sausage. My partner received a microwaved, processed lasagne.Nice pub, lovely setting and friendly staff. But the food lets it down massively.

The food was very good. The staff were helpful and friendly. We really enjoyed our stay and would defiantly recamend the place. We would love to visit again.

on the sunday whilst walking around teggs nose a couple had mentioned this place to me . being from macc originale i like to listen to the locals it was a lovely day so 5 of us ate outside . i had steak and kidney pudding ive always had a fetish for these puddings nothing comes close to it here in australia unfortunately i often go in the chippys for fish and chips but walk out with a pudding . well this was the best home made steak and kydney pudding ive ever had what more can i say

Ate here weekday lunchtime. Good selection on the menu and specials board. Really friendly service. Meals were very good. I had steak, Guinness and stilton pie with chips and fresh veg (real fresh veg not frozen). The chips were very well cooked and the pie was first class. We were all very happy with our meals. My wife said that her steak and kidney pudding was about the best that she had eaten. The price was very good for the standard of food and the ale was pretty good too!This pub is well worth a visit. We fully intend to make another visit in the next month or two.

Just come back from the most wonderful evening at the Church House! My wife booked a table for the family, and when we arrived the tables were set beautifully and they'd even put happy birthday banners up for me. The service was second to none, despite it being a busy Friday evening. And the food! We all ordered different meals; such as deep fried goats cheese drizzled with honey on a bed of salad from the specials board, their amazing steak and ale pie and chicken tikka masala. Every single dish was beautifully cooked and the house red wine was delicious and so reasonably priced. I can't recommend this place highly enough, everything about the evening was perfect. We were just sorry we didn't have room for the puddings! Thanks Sheila, Claire and everyone for a wonderful night. 5 stars!!

Six of us ate there on a recent Friday night. Very hard to fault from start to finish. We all had different meals, mains and desserts. Service was bob on, with my only criticism being they cleared the plates before we had all finished eating, otherwise all good. Cask beer choice was also excellent, with 5 beers on.Can recommend and will certainly be back

We had this pub recommended to us and liked the place as soon as we arrived. The initial greeting was warm and welcoming.It was a weekday lunchtime and there was just one table available. Appeared to be a combination of locals and visitors. There was a good choice on the menu catering for a variety of tastes. Drinks were reasonably priced. Overall we had a great meal in pleasant surroundings. The food was delicious/ good quality and very good value for money. Car park large and outside area available to have a drink. Small play area for children.We will return and hopefully combine with a walk!

We visited The Church House Inn earlier today for a late Sunday lunch. The food was fantastic and the service superb. Going into little local village pubs can sometimes feel a bit intimidating when you're not a local, but the staff couldn't have made us feel more welcome. My husband had the creamy garlic mushrooms and I had Whitebait to start. Really tasty. We then both had Steak and Kidney Pudding which was naughty but completely delicious. My little girl enjoyed a good sized portion of chicken goujons. We all had pudding too. Fab food, cosy atmosphere. Definitely recommend!

The food here is highly recommended. A simple menu but the quality of the food is exceptional. The surroundings are not plush but look over that because the staff were great and the food well worth the visit.

Home cooked food, very friendly staff, excellent service and always go that bit further to accommodate customer's needs. Good for families, couples, singles and OAPs!!I can't rally fault the place, except that they don't have a wine list. So the bar staff will tell you what they have, but personally , I prefer to peruse the list at my leisure.

Had Sunday lunch here a couple of weeks ago whilst visiting family in the area, Lovely relaxed traditional pub. Had the Roast Beef lunch which was really good. Great attentive service and friendly staff. Had the sticky toffee pud for dessert, wow! Will return when next in the area.

We have been to this pub twice now and cannot fault it ... Nice warm real fire, extensive menu and good beer. The lasagne is the best we have tasted and the service is extremely good. Wish it was our local as we would be there more often.

We are becoming regulars here after moving to the area from the centre of Macclesfield. The times we come in to eat vary from mid-week to Sunday lunchtimes and the service and food is always fantastic. The owner is lovely and the lady behind the bar (Claire?) is always so lovely with my son Charlie who is autistic. Nothing is too much trouble for her, and she always packs up his leftover curry to take home! I will continue to come here to eat with my family and would recommend the pies - amazing!

Called in for lunch during a drive in the countryside. Washrooms were spotless with lovely hot water. The atmosphere was very friendly on a miserable day with open fires. The food was excellent as was the whole experience. Well worth seeking the pub out.

A beautiful Inn with an intimate restaurant serving freshly cooked food. I loved it. Would recommend emphatically! A lovely homely atmosphere and friendly efficient staff. I had the 10oz Gammon Steak - it was a mouth watering treat. And to top it all off they had my favourite beers on tap: Adnams Fat Sprat and Adnams Bitter. Perfect.

Situated in the quiet village of Sutton ,on the outskirts of Macclesfield, the Church House offers great food , superb service from Claire and the team and value for money. The Boddy's beer is pretty good as well. We will be back

Waited 20 minuets to get served in the end we walked out of the place. It seemed that the bar maid wasn't interested in serving non regulars

Great place to grab lunch/tea or just a cheeky pint before/after a walk in Macc forest. Plenty of parking and quick and friendly service with consistently great food. The pies are great.

this is the church house at the junction of church lane and ridge hill in Sutton near Macclesfield. Not to be confused with the church house in bollington which is also on trip advisor listed as near macclesfield !!! Run by Sheila and her team it is one of the friendliest pubs you will find, an old fashioned pub that hasn't been ruined by restoration. the beers are excellent. the food is a small old fashioned menu, local produce, nothing fancy. eg homemade pies, gammon and egg, a few curries, lasagne. on the specials board will be about 5 extra options eg morrocan lamb, liver and onions, pork steak in cream and mustard sauce. all mains just under a tenner. hand cut chips are yummy. food is at lunch and early evening. phone them and you can book a table, but bear in mind this is a small pub so you won't have a fancy table. Its a gem of a place.
