We love this great little café. It’s a brand new business and they are getting off to a great start! There is a fab selection of food available and we have eaten both breakfast and lunches here. My husband likes his food really well done and asked for his meal to be well cooked. This was no issue and it arrived perfectly as he had requested. If anyone is on a bit of a health kick the poached eggs on toast are a great option! Under £3 as well which is a total bargain! Lovely staff and dog friendly (massive YAY) with a great selection and good value! Pop in and support this fab new business in Norfolk!

We’re in Norfolk on holiday and ordered 2 ‘big bug breakfasts’ (full English) and two children’s sausage and chips. We had started eating and my husband said ‘is the sausage properly cooked?’ Because he could see some pink in it. I had a good look and there was a pink bit in it but I thought it might’ve been just a bit of pinker pork. At this point we had all eaten some of the sausages (me, my husband, my 6 year old daughter and 4 year old son). My husband went to speak to someone (who turned out to be Andy, the manager, we later found out). This is where my anger lies. The way it was all dealt with was appalling. We’ve been served undercooked sausage once before in our lives from a cafe local to our home - and I didn’t write a poor review for them because it was dealt with in a satisfactory way. Mistakes can happen, I wasn’t happy about it, but if people take ownership and rectify it as much as they can then I can’t complain. But on this occasion, at the Chrysalis Cafe, when my husband spoke to the manager about our concerns with the sausages, the manager reassured him they were just pink inside because they were ‘fresh meat’ and gave us his word that they were 100% fully cooked and they use a temperature gauge. He insisted all of this WITHOUT coming to look at them himself. When my husband returned to the table, we cut each of them open in the middle more and realised that we had two different types of sausages - some that looked like Cumberland, which seemed to be cooked okay, and some that were plain pork, which were uncooked in the middle. And they were definitely uncooked. There was no rhyme or reason about who had which sausage - the kids meals had a mixture with my daughter getting two Cumberland and my son getting one of each. Us adults had the pink ones on our big breakfasts. My husband had to take a sausage on a fork across the room to show the manager before he would acknowledge that they weren’t quite ‘right’. Instead of coming to our table to apologise (there was NO apology from Andy at all) and to take away the plates which had cooked food alongside cut-up uncooked sausages, he just brought us a plate of eight more sausages which were the Cumberland-type ones. This was after he had tried to insist to us that they were all the same type of sausage too. At this point we had let my children eat their Cumberland ones which we thought were okay. In hindsight I’m not sure, as you can see in the picture, they’ve not been turned and were browned on one side and pale and mushier on the other side. We were expected to eat off the plates that had had raw sausage meat on. So we piled up the raw sausages directly on the table since they’d not been taken away, I covered up the area of the plate where my sausages had been with my bacon (I only had one slice but according to the menu there should have been two) and picked at the hash browns, beans and an egg, with our pile of semi-raw sausages staring at us from the middle of the table. Writing it all down, I’m actually more angry at myself now for not screaming about it and insisting on a refund. I suppose it was because we had paid already and weren’t in a very populated area where we could just go next door to try another cafe. But present-me is kicking past-me for not shouting about it and demanding a refund and freshly cooked food. My husband flagged the waitress down who WAS apologetic and confirmed that the man we’d spoken to was the manager. We’d wanted to go above his head but realised HE was the one in charge. She (young blond girl) dealt with it as best she could by apologising but in a way that wouldn’t undermine her own manager. The staff including those in the kitchen all seemed quite young and it’s unlikely they’ll get the training to work in the service industry under that man. He could see that his staff member was dealing with it but didn’t come over as her senior to take over. She did ask if we wanted him sent over again, but he’d already had the opportunity to deal with it twice and he hadn’t, so we declined. On leaving, it was clear he avoided eye contact with us. Other than the first bites of the sausage, I ate no meat from my breakfast and left most of the food on the plate. We asked in the gift shop for the manager of the site, Martin, but he wasn’t working today. The lady in the gift shop asked what had gone wrong and when we explained she apologised and offered free entry to the parc, which we accepted - at about £40 that would have covered the same price as the awful meal we’d just been unable to eat most of. But then she said actually, she’d let the kids go free and would we adults mind paying for our tickets. We did since we were there. She let the kids hold a mantis on the way out too. We walked around the bug parc feeling really sick and angry. I had hoped it was just the thought of it that was making me feed nauseous but my husband has just started having sharp stomach pains which has triggered me writing this this evening. I was going to wait until we were home to type it up on a keyboard. We have two more days of our holiday and are staying at a campsite so it’s not the most comfortable place to get sick. This may mean we have to end our holiday early.

Consistently very good. Terrific value. Usually have the big breakfast and my partner has scrambled eggs and always very very good. I don’t go anywhere else locally. We have no young children anymore but the linked Bugz attraction and play area looks fun too. Good gift shop Always friendly staff Can’t fault it tbh. If anything the chairs are a bit uncomfortable, but I’ll take that!!

Thought we would try Bugz as our usual venue was closed because the owner was on honeymoon. I chose the veggie breakfast option which was plentiful and tasty apart from the sausages which were a bit weird and the thinly sliced mushrooms were not to my liking. Are they fresh or out of a can? I chose scrambled eggs but they were rather sloppy. My partner had the meaty breakfast and liked it a lot. He had his eggs fried and they were nice. One small criticism....it was all just lukewarm. At the time ( early on a Tuesday morning) we were the only people in the cafe so there was no stress for the cook and it should have been served hot. The cappuccinos were lovely. We had a look round the gift shop afterwards. Very friendly staff and a good selection of gifts. I bought a pretty box and a magnetic pad to go on my fridge door. We intend to visit the attraction itself but it was getting loud and noisy with kids so we'll wait u till September when more of them will be at school.

We had lunch here where I got food envy from my friend who ordered the pick and mix salad bar, everything looked so fresh and tasty I'll definitely return for that! My Sub was lovely, well worth the money, maybe a little sajad garnish on the side would've been nice. The staff including owner were really friendly and keen to please. The lady even came to see if one of the children were ok after a little tumble. They were also offered colouring pencils and a book which is just so lovely as you know you can actually relax as it's super child friendly. I loved the fact too that there was a water dispenser you could help yourself too. I also sampled the owners homemade cake which (from a cake expert!) AMAZING!. Lot's of choice, good value for money, clean and friendly. Will definitely return and recommend to others.

We thought we'd try the Chrysalis cafe as a new, nearby venue and enjoyed a large breakfast. The "herby" sausages weren't to our taste, but otherwise its a good addition to the local "scene"

Happened across this lovely place on a walk with our dog. We all had ice cream including the dog with a very nice brownie to follow. Sit amongst the trees and just listen to the birds and watch the world go by.

We only went for lunch and we both decided to have the ribeye steak medium rare with chips. At £27 (now £34) a head we expected a decent steak but were very disapointed, it was tough, the waitress said she would tell the chef. They also add a 10% tip! A gratuity should be given for good service not just added to the bill.
