NOW MAEVES TEAROOM. went with friends after being recommended. Coffee nice but very small cups and expensive. I ordered toastie with no coleslaw as I don’t eat dressings. Still came with something resembling coleslaw which my husband ate so I was left with just a toastie. No side salad or crisps or anything. Absolute rip off. SO EXPENSIVE Although tasty it wouldn’t have cost more than 50p to make. Friends then ordered cake (choice was poor so we didn’t have anything) and they both said it wasn’t pleasant. One said it was the worst Bakewell cake he’d ever had!!! We won’t be back!!!

Smallest coffee cup ever! What are you thinking?! You can’t even hold it the handle is tiny - it’s like it’s from a child’s tea set! The food was ok and service very friendly but very overpriced for what we had. I’m all for supporting local businesses but would not return - the coffee is literally 3 mouthfuls and it’s gone - for 3.50? Don’t rip people off

The food here was delicious and the staff were very friendly – especially the girl on the till (I didn't catch her name). The only thing I didn't like was how the manager talked to his staff. He came off as quite snappy and agitated, and I felt quite awkward hearing it. As someone who used to work as a waitress back in the day, I can understand it can get stressful – but being rude to your staff is no good!

Spotted this nice little cafe on a recent visit to Woodbridge and decided to stop. We sat out the back in a lovely enclosed courtyard and had cream tea. The tea was loose leaf, which was lovely and the scones fresh and tasty. We'll worth a stop over if passing by.

We would have loved to have tried this cafe, however on entering we were told we couldn't sit at a table in the garden and had to go inside and order. We went inside and waited to order and as we did were getting in the way of staff bringing out and serving food to tables as well as other customers trying to leave so had to keep moving outside. When we eventually got to the counter we were told we couldn't order food as it was too late and they "only had what was left on view". We declined purely because of the poor way we had been treated. We were trying to spend money here and were made to feel so unwelcome. Everything about this experience was negative with too many don'ts, cant's , wont's. Such a shame as the garden area looked lovely. maybe some staff training on customer service might help.

It’s not often I feel compelled to write a review of a cafe, coffee shop or tea room however I must say Christine’s is up there with the best I have ever visited. I was on my holiday with my father in law who is in a wheelchair and a lady who think might have been the owner very kindly opened up a side gate to allow easy access to the garden area. We were politely shown to our table and directed to the shop area to place our order. The coffee’s, tea and cake were of a very good standard and promptly served to our table by a very polite young lady observing complete respect for COVID prevention. Christine’s is a gem of a refreshment stop in Woodbridge Suffolk and deserves 5 Stars for customer service and product quality. Well done and thank you. We will return.

A delightful cafe, clean and lovely courtyard. The staff were extremely welcoming, it was clean, and all the CoVid rules and precautions were in place, They welcomed our dogs. I had a bagel toasted with avocado and hummus (but didn’t like the pickled radish) with a pot of Green Sencha leaf tea. My friend enjoyed a strong normal builder’s tea with a flatbread full of Coronation chicken. Both had fresh leaves. The toilet was immaculate. There was a good selection of veggie fare and soups and cakes on offer. Very nice. Will definitely return to try something else.

Had two tips here once getting seated in the garden and once inside. As everywhere Covid 19 making life harder for the staff as they have to sanitise in between customers and you have to wait to be seated therefore. Coffee was good and the cakes were welcome. Covid precautions reasonable given the size of venue and I was pleased to see staff wearing masks properly. More comfortable sitting inside outside as is normal at the moment especially when there is such a pretty garden to chill in.

Went into a busy Christines this morning for a coffee, and took the last table which was for 2 people. As we were taking our coats off we were told by staff that we would have to leave as a lady had ordered a drink at the tills, but had nowhere to sit !!. A friend and I had lunch here today. The layout is very good, with a number of rooms or the garden to choose from. As it was warm and sunny we decided to sit outside in in the walled garden, which is a real sun trap. the menu selection was quite good and there are lots of teas and coffees available. Choose what you want and pay at the counter, then it's table service. The staff are friendly and the food was excellent. The garden is very peaceful as you cannot hear any traffic. The loudest thing was a blackbird singing on a chimney top on the other side of the Thoroughfare. I parked in the car park behind the Co-Op (£3 for four hours), from where it is a short walk.

My first visit to Christine's Patisserie, which is a lovely tearoom with nice décor and a cosy feel, was in December 2017 and was very positive. I first visited with my parents and we enjoyed coffee and cake. I returned with my husband the following week and on both occasions the drinks and cakes were consistently very good. The lemon and poppy seed cake and the chocolate coconut brownies were delicious, and the gluten free options were also great. I don't want to sound harsh, however upon visiting Christine's Patisserie in February 2018 I was surprised and disappointed with the customer service.

Thought I’d found a gem but having visited a couple of times later on a Saturday afternoon, I was speechless this week to be told at 4.05pm that we couldn’t have a brownie as they had just been packed away...for the second time I witnessed said cakes being packed away by an ungloved, untonged hand, which concerns me. When we first discovered Christines it was great. Very tranquil , excellent service, and excellent coffee. Just what we wanted. However recently it seems to be wavering. The musac is often too loud and pop stuff, which is not what the clientel want. There seem to be kids serving you who are more interested in their musac than welcoming their customers. The coffee is very variable depending upon who makes it. Sometimes it falls well below the mark. Need better training me thinks. In a town full of oldies like Woodbridge we want good coffee, pleasant service, and no pop music. Gentle relaxing background and quiet preferably classical music would be ideal. If I hear that horrible boom boom noise I am off like a shot. Come on Christines you are missing a trick!

Why do places that use on the wall only blackboard menus fail to remove items that are sold out? Oh, and why do places that use blackboard menus not realise that the last few items written are not visible to short people if the board is behind the counter cabinet? That said our lunchtime call here whilst visiting Woodbridge was pleasant enough. Friendly greeting and service, light good looking seating areas and (on a hot day as it was) the outside walled garden area with brightly coloured and effective sun parasols was a pleasure. Downside was the food - the Mozzarella, Tomato and Basil quiche was perhaps a bit short on all three of those so the egg dominated but it was a pleasant enough, well served and fairly priced lunch.

Having not ventured up the thoroughfare past Boots the Chemist for a few years my wife and I pleasantly stumbled across Christine’s Patisserie & Tearoom. Woodbridge has a couple of larger chain coffee houses and so it’s great that there are a number of smaller independent tearooms and coffee shops like Christine’s that have a lovely local and friendly feel. Christine’s is a high end tearoom and offers a quiet and nicely furnished place to unwind or catch up with friends. We had a snack lunch and found the menu had a good range of homemade dishes to choose from, there is an excitingly long list of fresh teas to mull over and a lovely selection of cakes to tempt you.

Really sorry to say that this was a disappointing first visit. The bagels we ordered were dry and on the verge of stale. My husbands coffee cup was served barely just over half full. The salad was fine and the choice of teas are very good however. The criticism would not be on line if, when we had pointed out the problem with the bagels, there had been the tiniest hint of an apology. However we were just told there had been three other complaints on the quality of the bagels so they would look into changing their supplier! Surely they have some quantity controls that would have kicked in before the fourth complaint. No return here, mainly due to the lack of an apology. To be fair the cakes looked reasonably good.

Went with my girlfriend for a pre lunch. I had a lovely hot chocolate, and we shared a delightful panini with cheese, ham and pesto in.

This place has been highly recommended so we decided to give it a try one morning.I ordered an espresso but they seemed baffled and what I got was an ordinary cup of black coffee. Cakes elaborate and expensive.

Visited beginning of August. Friendly staff and excellent tea. Coffee cake and chocolate brownie were great but sadly the scones had sold out. We sat in the garden which is a bit of a suntrap. It was untidy though and a little bare. I think they may have started work on improving it but it definitely needs more flowers!

We stumbled upon this little place and sat in the garden. Now I'm not a salad person but it was a hot day and went for something a little different. I'm so glad I did. I had their homemade quiche with a pomegranate, rocket and quinoa salad (usually say to quinoa) and wow - it was out of this world. I spoke to the serving lady and she said that they had taken on a new chef who was trying different things and this lunch was just stunning.

Popped in here on a Saturday afternoon. Not a full selection of cakes as it was towards the end of the afternoon. All the food on display looked delicious and homemade. Had a coronation chicken pitta bread. Also a generous slice of coffee and walnut cake, lemon and poppy seed cake. All lovely. Tea rooms beautifully decorated. Very pastel. Tea came in individual pots with timers.

I had to try this place as its my namesake! The choice of cakes was great and a good menu of sandwiches etc. I was tempted by a Victoria sponge and my usual coffee. Both excellent. Inside leads through to a lovely outside area. Staff friendly and prices not over the top. I will certainly be back.

Lovely tearoom with plenty of room, a great range of teas (the Vietnamese Imperial is delicious) and excellent service. The best tearoom in Woodbridge!

We went here for my mums birthday for tea and cake with the family, sadly we were told we couldn't make a reservation so we had to stand outside for 20 minutes until a big enough table came. They were quick with ordering and service and seemed to bake the scones fresh and often as they are sill warm, the only issue we had was that they didn't have enough of one cake which was popular and the lady serving said she couldn't cut the new one which was in a tray as she wasn't qualified and the correct person wasn't there so we had to change some orders.

We popped in here to buy cake to take away. The cakes were home made gluten free and delicious. Well worth breaking the diet for. The portions were generous and value for money. The staff were very friendly , polite and very customer focused

Stayed here for the Easter Break from good Friday till the Monday. Such a lovely feel to this hotel. The food on Saturday evening was to die for we had our friends join us and all had Beef Wellington and all agreed the best one we have ever had ! Second time staying at this hotel and would definitely go back as staff and management are lovely.

We took advantage of an unexpectedly sunny Sunday to take a friend in a wheelchair for a stroll on the prom and brunch at the Alex — where we knew there was an accessible loo, should it be needed. Our order included a vegan breakfast, muffin and poached eggs and smoked haddock fishcakes, plus cake. All were good, fresh and well-cooked. Hats off to the chef who perfectly poached those eggs. The staff were friendly and professional and went out of their way to help us with wheelchair manoeuvring. The place feels well-run.

Over-priced food - an unbelievable £4.75 for a stodgy, tasteless cheese scone with one pat of hard, cold butter. Only managed to eat half of it, really unpleasant, threw the rest away. The cakes were not covered and crawling with flies. Sandwiches even more over-priced at £8.25 for a small cheese sandwich with white bread. This cafe used to be so much better. Will drive past in future and not stop here.

Ver disappointed. Two young girls on duty who were indifferent to our questions. We sat down and neither came to ask if we needed drinks before ordering. There was only one other family in the restaurant. Left without ordering. Have been before with better results but not happy with the lack of service.

Food and service ok, but far too expensive. One thin slice of cheese and ham on a cheddar and ham ploughman's meal ? Salad out of a bag ?. Joke at their prices.
