I booked Christie’s Brasserie after looking online for somewhere in Middlesbrough to have lunch with a friend - having not been back in a while I wasn’t sure where was good. I’m so glad that I did, because it was nothing short of fantastic. Located in the Zetland Hotel near the train station, it’s hidden away from the town centre but well worth seeking out. The decor inside is absolutely astonishing, the building has obviously been restored to its former glory and the decor is beautiful - it really captures the style of a traditional Parisian brasserie. The waitress who served us was so friendly and explained the dishes and specials to us We ended up having three courses, all were delicious but a special mention has to go to the seafood pancake with Thermidor sauce - unbelievably tasty! It was a thoroughly enjoyable lunch and I’ll be recommending it to everyone I know living in or heading to Teesside.

This was our first visit to this restaurant although we have visited the bar once or twice. The restaurant is located in the Zetland building, opposite the railway station and is probably one of the oldest existing buildings in Middlesbrough. Phil, the owner has lovingly restored the interior and the dining room is back to what looks like it's original ornate state, beautiful mirrors and tiled walls, a very comfy atmosphere. My wife and I both had the blackpudding as a starter and I must say, it was cooked to perfection, in fact I've never tasted a better version of this dish. My wife chose the fish pie and I had the confit of duck. Again both dishes cooked to perfection with the duck falling off the bone. We finished off sharing the Zetland (eton) mess, again very tasty and filled with strawberry. This was a very nice dining experience, lovely restaurant, great food and generous proportions and very reasonable prices. The food, a glass of wine and two very nice craft beers all for under 60 quid. We will certainly be visiting again

I visited here previously after a boro match as part of a stag do. It was a cold day and the bar had a fantastic atmosphere, after all we had just won. The day was cold and the owner offered hot broth if only to warm the cockles. A fantastic example of great Hospitality, and an equally as nice broth. I returned on a Sunday for an obvious Sunday roast/feast in the restaurant. The restaurant in itself is a great hall of sorts, originally tiled and beautifully presented. The Sunday dinner was literally one of the most satisfying I’ve had in a while. The service was fantastic, my new Sunday lunch spot if I ever get another cheeky Sunday off work. Thanks team 👍

Took my mam here for a belated Mother's Day meal and was thoroughly impressed by everything about the restaurant. I got the Confit of Duck as a main and Sticky Toffee Pudding for dessert. Both of these dishes were delicious. Service was brilliant and the owner taking time to have a chat with us between courses was a lovely added touch. Was good to find out about the plans he has for it in the future. I would definitely go back again.

Iam thinking this was a different resturant! Atmosphere cold as was the reception, & not confident greeting. Tempreture in the dining room & rest rooms were baltic! Food was mediocre & catering for children was poor, we had to go home & cook for our daughter, no childrens menu offered or discussed! No starters suitable for a 9yr old unfussy child. Spicy morracan soup & prawn cocktail? Main for her; chicken was very salty & some spice coating, so she ate, mash, carrots & peas! No desserts suitable for her either but was offered the token ice cream. Food portions not great & cheese board was very poor & not on a board but a very sml plate! It took 2 phone calls to book table & in the meantime id emailed but still no response! Menu's on scraty pieces of paper with stains on? Yet was told daily menu. What a shame as we were really looking forward to this & as a hard working family...love treats out & always like to support local great service/resturants. This was neither!

We have just had a lovely evening in Christie's Brasserie. There was a good selection of food to choose from and we both had a lovely meal. The room was wonderful and warm with efficient and friendly service. We felt we could have been in any city in any country as the restaurant was so superbly restored with polished wooden floor, tiled walls and candlelit tables. Would recommend a visit.

I had a stunning cottage pie, elevated to fine dining without being pretentious, with a calamari starter and a sticky toffee pud for afters. Sounds simple but this ain’t no pub grub, it’s delicious classics that will keep us coming back.

My husband and I have celebrated our wedding anniversary with a three course meal at Christie's yesterday. Pros: + absolutely gorgeous décor + great choice of dishes + reasonable prices + exceptional service + delicious food! Cons: - would struggle to find fault with anything We've been for drinks a few times now at The Zetland and each time come away saying, "we must eat there soon." I just wish we'd done it sooner. We were warmly greeted (as always) and our drinks were brought to our table in the bar, before we took our seats in the restaurant. The décor is beautiful, with 120 year old tiling, gorgeous lamps, a high ceiling - a really lovely place to enjoy a meal. I had baked camembert with croutons to start, and my husband had squid with an Asian style salad. We ate every last mouthful, it was gorgeous. For our mains, the only problem was choosing what to have as it all sounded so good. I went for chicken with a potato fondant, and my husband had fish and chips. Again, it was absolutely gorgeous (I'm running out of ways to say how much we enjoyed it!) With eyes bigger than our bellies, I ordered the chocolate and hazelnut lava cake, and my husband had the cheese board. I ate about two mouthfuls before thinking I was going to pop, it was so rich and gooey - chocolate heaven. A lovely coffee helped to wash it all down. I really can't recommend Christie's enough. The location (right outside the train station) is great, the interior is nicer than anywhere we can think of in the town, and the food truly is a cut above. Thank you to the team at Christie's for such a special evening - we look forward to coming back soon!

Michelin star quality. Chef has awards from national burger competitions, and focuses on flavourful, incredibly carefully cooked food. We stopped in for lunch and left with the best three course meal we've had all year, all for under £20 per person. Stunning 19th century building,...

Popped in for lunch on a Monday, cafe not busy but barbers fully booked. Cafe is a bit of a hidden gem! I had a ham and cheese panini and my boyfriend enjoyed a Roman stack which was delicious. Will definitely return to try other stacks!

Tried out for the first time today and can't wait to come back. Had the soup of the day (butternut squash and red pepper) and it was delicious! So flavourful and a very generous portion. The GF cake had a sandy/unpleasant texture so wasn't too keen on that but could happily eat the soup every day. I am already craving it again. Friendly staff too. Will be back.

Didn't eat so can't rate. Decent array of beers between draft and cans and bottles in the fridge. Not the cheapest prices but I personally don't mind paying a little more for a decent selection. Good conversation with the regular punters (about beer of course). Recommended for real ale drinkers. Back in today (7-9-24) and what an absolutely wonderful night. Great guitar player/singer and some great craic with the owner and bar staff. Brilliant time. Highly recommended.
