Amazing Sunday Lunch. Many options in Bristol but this is consistently excellent. Have visited a few time. The rice pudding is also a must!!

Went for Sunday lunch which turned out to be one the best I have had in a long time, belly of pork with proper crackling, generous portion all perfectly cooked. The rice pudding desert was divine. A chilled ambience, unobtrusive, good service. Will definitely be going back and try other meal options.

We found the service a bit brusque, but the food is absolutely delicious, excellent in quality, and very reasonably priced. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant.

Treated the kids to a Sunday roast before they go back to Uni. One of the best roasts I can remember. The kids had beef and we had pork which was absolutely delicious . I would highly recommend this little place.

Visited back in January again for another unreal roast. This place is definitely a hidden gem. Delicious patè to start & the beef for main was so good, the portion sizes are huge. Honestly can’t fault a thing about this place!

I don’t usually write reviews but feel that Chris and Jo’s Kitchen is really worth a mention. Booked a table for a midweek birthday lunch on the basis of the great reviews and enticing sample menu and we were not disappointed! The food was fresh, interesting and delicious and the meal overall was great value. Don’t be put off by the modest appearance, it is a find! We will definitely be back when we are next in Bristol

We had a fabulous dinner on our first night in Bristol. The outside of the restaurant is not impressive but once inside it is lovely and the welcome very friendly. The food is exceptional, we both had three courses and particular highlights were the risotto and the fish stew. Really high quality home cooking with great ingredients. The wine list is good and the price good value. We were so impressed we tried to book for the next night but they were fully booked. As you can see we thought Chris and Jo’s was a real find and will definitely be back.

Just had the most amazing pea and asparagus risotto here. Probably the nicest I’ve tastiest. Amazing food and great service.

This lovely restaurant is a real find and came highly recommended by the host of our local accommodation. Wish we lived closer as we were only in Bristol for one night and we’re so pleased we tried it, as the menu provides a lovely selection. The food is delicious and all home cooked too. We’ll definitely be back when we’re next visiting!

This unassuming little restaurant in Cotham is now a firm favourie of mine. It never fails to deliver top quality, home prepared, no nonsense food. As with all top restaurants, it offers a small menu, which nvertheless still manages to have something that will please most people. My partner and I are happy to try everything (not at the same time!) Prices are reasonable, and the wine are fairly priced.

Bad points : Average food , pork was dry , gravel was tasteless , some of the veg was luke warm , everything needed seasoning . Place was very cold and most people sitting to eat in jackets . Food took 45 minutes to arrive even though we were the first sitting and was being told they need the table for the next people . Good points : the veg was cooked nicely and not overcooked ( although some of it had been left standing so was lukewarm ) , croquettes were nice. Would I return ? Sorry no . A little gem of a small not many covers restaurant. Food is clearly home made and fresh, not a vast menu but more than enough to find something you really like. If you are in Bristol you must seek them out but booking is probably best as not many covers but we'll worth the effort. Thanks Chris and Jo for a lovely meal last Saturday

Exquisite and delicious, this restaurant is in my top 5 best restaurants in Bristol. Flavoursome and fresh with perfect portions, this is a must if you're looking for a place that has it all!

The food is excellent quality and presentation. The only fault is that the portions are way way too big. Paired with excellent selection of wines including a Tyrell’s Shiraz. They try really really hard

This really lived up to the expectations based on the great reviews here. Four of us went for Sunday lunch, it really was as good a Sunday roast as I’ve ever had. Beautifully cooked beef and every aspect of the generous portion was really great. We managed to fit in a dessert too, also lovely. Overall really good value. The service was warm and friendly, we were well looked-after and did not feel rushed. We’d definitely come back again!

One of the best roasts I’ve ever had. Scotch egg to start with chutney which was a great start. Followed by the beef roast which was just unreal. Such a generous portion as well.. was super full but had to finish it because it was so good! Your plate is mounted with lots of different veggies and so much flavour! Can’t wait to visit again.

My partner and I love a Sunday lunch. We've had our fair share of them over the years, and this is the best one yet! The quality of the food is second to none. The chicken was so succulent! All my favourite veggies, including sprouts and cauliflower cheese - cooked to perfection. Would've loved a pudding but had no room left! The service was great, too - a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. I'll be back for sure!

Spoilt by poor service, we'd arrived 20 min early to empty restaurant and was turned away to wait in the car. This has happened 2 times. After ordering we usually have to wait 45+ min for food, I have been many times with family and every time felt the same…. Yes food is good, but Waitress customer interaction needs more work, other restaurants show care and interest in people, ask questions and interact to encourage return customers. I’m only writing this review as I decided to find another regularly place to take my family.

Just happened to walk past and notice they were open for Sunday Lunch and luckily they could fit us in. The lunch was fantastic and one of the best Sunday Lunches I've ever had when eating out. Great Beef, lovely crisp roast potatoes and fantastic selection of veg, all covered in a lovely tasting gravy. Had to try a dessert even though we were both full, but glad we did as they were fantastic too. Staff members very friendly we are definitely coming back to try the Roast Pork.

We have found our perfect restaurant. Three of us had the most delicious dinner - excellent from the start: a small relaxed restaurant, and not too noisy (unobtrusive music - hurray); great drinks list and 5 star food (i had thr most delicious cauliflower cheese soup followed by excellent cod with samphire - with an inspired side dish of broccoli). This is what cooking should be about. Great unobtrusive service and well priced....we will return...

Today I took my wife and son for lunch. The food was fantastic. Good service and a great atmosphere with reasonable prices. The chicken thighs with potatoes and veg was so tasty!! The dessert of banana and date cake with fromage frais sorbet hummed. Will be back

Once the food comes, it's really excellent. Homely, local, fresh, rich, and those were just the three dishes we shared. However, there is a strangely snooty attitude here (guaranteed custom from the uni crowd?), meaning that you will only be served in their own good time, which could involve the server ignoring you frequently and taking a good half hour to come out with dishes.

Phenomenal beef and horseradish sandwich and magical white chocolate and lemon cheesecake with peach sorbet. Fantastic taste and quality and plentiful supplies of chilled water.

My collegues found this gem of a place off the beaten track an up a steep hill. They loved it so much I joined them on the second evening for a return visit. If you want excellent food at very reasonable prices in an unpretentious environment, then this is the place to go. Due to licensing rules, they don't open late but I dont like eating late anyway. Ask when and why they came to be, an interesting story. I am gluten free, this was not a problem. And often the fish is fresh from the sea that day. We enjoyed it so much, that after the third day of work we went back again! Sadly we then came home..

Fantastic food! I echo what several others have said - the waitress is incredibly rude, I see her partner has responded but arthritis has nothing to do with being downright rude to people. You only keep your customers because of the quality of the food....

This very unassuming restaurant delivered really good food in a surprisingly lack lustre setting. Whilst the focus on good food is of course key it would take very little to smarten this very small place up and turn it into something really special. If it hadn’t been for the TripAdvisor reviews I would have walked straight past it thinking it was a Chinese or take away cafe. That said the menu was really appealing and the food very tasty. Our tables were sticky which was not pleasant however.
