New to the area while on business. Staying local so thought I would try this pub out. Wow. What a surprise. Very friendly staff. Great selection of beers. Was looking at the menu and one of the staff recommended the Steak sandwich. Perfectly cooked sirloin steak in a crusty sandwich with rocket and Perfectly cooked. Perfectly salted fries. I would have posted a picture but it was so delicious I couldn't put it down. Sorry. I would absolutely recommend this pub. Keep up the good work. 👍

Great pub for food, sport and lovely staff. Very welcoming and accomadating considering we had 5 babies with us. We love this place.

We had a great work social in their upstairs private room - the staff were super friendly and really easy to work with in planning our occasion. The space was really nicely decorated and ideal for our group. We all had food from the menu which was really good value. Would very much recommend for a casual private event or social!

The service was aggressive. Shame because we had been recommended with highest marks. But today really lacked everything. Service being at the front of that. Then they mixed up our food and missed one of us. Gave the wrong meat to another one of us. Must of been having a bad day. Wasn’t impressed. The manager gave us a round of drinks for the delay and mess up on the meals which was nice. But underline the waiter was just rude and made us feel a bit uncomfortable.

From first communication with Liam through to leaving, our Christmas lunch yesterday was amazing. The pub has had major work done since my last visit. The tram were amazing, upstairs room for our own private lunch was lovely and the food brilliant. What a difference to another lunch I had last week elsewhere which was a total letdown. Will be booking next year's Christmas lunch soon and now returning regularly for socials. Thanks all and have a fab Christmas!

Absolutely loved our Christmas meal here. Food was scrumptious if a little overseasoned. The atmosphere in our private room was superb and the service provided by Liam and Alex was seriously second to none...friendly, hospitable, and very professional. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Since moving to Clifton this is my favourite bar to frequent. The only place to show all sports, even if it's really busy they will make an effort to accommodate you and friends to get a decent spot. Also recommend the food!

Booked a table for the Rugby World Cup Final a week in advance. Even phoned up the week before and they said “if England make the final, we’ll need a deposit” which I was happy to pay. Phoned up the week before the final to confirm my booking and to see if they needed a deposit (England did not make the final), was told my booking was confirmed and a deposit was not needed. Turned up on the evening slightly early, was told they had no recollection of my booking and didn’t offer me a a table at all. An absolute joke considering I’d phoned up twice previously in the week, to confirm my booking and to offer to pay a deposit! Will not be going back to this pub, manager unhelpful, simply turned his back and said there was no booking for me and no space, even though other people had manage to book! Will not be coming back, such a shame as such a local pub to me and seemed like a great place to watch the rugby. Really disappointed.

Friendly bar staff. Large TV's to watch sport. We only stopped for a drink, so can't comment on the food. Additional seating upstairs.

Absolutely banging roast!! Really good quality and good portion size - juicy meat, crispy roasties, lovely veg & thick yummy gravy. The service was a little bit hectic but would deffo come back as such incredible food & lovely staff.

The bus service was canceled and they stopped the bus in Clifton village. I was hungry and facing a 30 min walk home, So I went into this pub and it was so nice. Staff were very friendly and welcoming the food (light lunch) was top notch very tasty! Will be returning!

Delicious food, good portion size to leave satisfied but not uncomfortable. Comfy high seating, fantastic atmosphere, and a clean, uncrowded environment. Highly recommended!

Great little bar, good selection of 241 cocktails, small menu but it's more of a bar than a restaurant, beautifully done out in an olde worldy dark snug bar. Food was great and service was spot on.

Nice pub in a great location to experience Clifton village. We tried a variety of dishes from the menu. Presentation fantastic, detail was superb, flavours were great and it was obvious that there's pride in the offering. Will definitely recommend and revisit. Parking available in nearby streets and there are levels to the venue, each with their own 'micro atmosphere'.

Dropped in for an afternoon drink amd some food. The pub is great. Nice setting, ambience, windows open to the street. The food was excellent. Only the service was a let down. Two young lads behind the bar didn't have much of a clue. I must have repeated my order 3 or 4 times whilst they tried to plug in the machine. Then they asked me twice more to remind them the order after I'd sat down. Then I had to remind of a dish that was forgotten when the order came. Then had to remind of another dish that was forgotten when the first forgotten one came!! I'll assume they were fairly new so no hard feelings. It won't stop me from returning

Superb Sunday roast. Excellent service, nice atmosphere, food was outstanding. Only one minor comment, the cauliflower in the cauliflower cheese was undercooked and there was not enough cheese sauce (based on my preference). Advise booking for larger parties.

Been here a couple of times for a Sunday Roast and haven’t left disappointed. Dog friendly for our little sausage dog and overall a great time.

Fantastic night at the Royal Oak last night - great food and great value drinks, including the delicious Cask Ales at £2.90 a pint. Excellent for watching sport too, friendly staff and spacious and classy feel.

6 of us had Sunday lunch today. 5 x beef and 1 pork. Absolutely delicious. Huge portions of quality food at a very reasonable price. Staff could not have been more helpful. Very professional with a smile. The Bloody Marys were also fantastic. Highly recommended. Thanks for a memorable lunch.

Fitted us in last minute for a Sunday lunch and we had a great roast with a very yummy sticky toffee pud for dessert. Great service and would highly recommend. Cannot fault them. And they allow doggies! 😄

Came here for Sunday lunch and it was a lovely family environment, during the week is fantastic for viewing for sport as multiple screens located around the premises. Have only had great service and fantastic food. Was served last by a lovely young lady called Sara who was very accommodating and went out of her way to see to all our needs. Very dog friendly for those with four legged friends. Would highly recommend for any occasion.

My friend organised a private party for 20 on the top floor room with private bar for her birthday. I was organising the entertainment, another friend the food. They were happy to deal with all of us individually and were super attentive and helpful on the evening. Lovely, friendly staff. They ensured the party ran like clock work. Highly recommended

Loved this place for a drink and relaxed lunch, drinks choice was great as was the food options, we went for a ploughmans sharing board with local cheese which was more than enough for two people! The staff were very freindlly and the building was interesting and spotless, Great location of you are staying near clifton bridge.

Came in as a part of a party of 4 for Sunday lunch. Possibly one of the best Sunday lunches I've ever had. Ordered the roast beef. Food was exceptional. Every part of it really tasty. Excellent portions, top quality produce all cooked to perfection. Couldn't fault the service either. Look forward to returning.

Great pub again now since refurb, great team running it...

We came over mainly to watch a football match. The table was booked in advance, we got food and a few drinks in. The place was buzzing, atmosphere inside is amazing, the staff were excellent. The food and service were top and the decor inside well thought of and in general there's not alot I could fault. They'res a good vibe about this place when you walk in, so I would definitely recommend coming down when you can. I certainly will be again!

Probably the best roast I have had eating out. Its been a while too since I live abroad now but worth the wait - very big portions and incredible taste. Great attention to detail and care, and staff were very considerate of food interances. Really great experience and since it was very hard to find a roast in another place it was a surprise this was so easy especially considering how good it was

I was passing by the Royal Oak and noticed its reopened, as the last time I was in the area it had closed. Very nice inside and comfortable seating throughout. I only went in for a drinks and then saw the Sunday Roasts coming out, so I decided to have one. Probably one of the most enjoyable roasts I have had in Bristol, amazing flavours!

Had a veggie roast and pudding, it was amazing! Would definitely come again 10/10

Very impressed - had a good feeling about the place on arrival but was not expecting just how good the whole service would be. Probably the best pub Sunday roast I’ve ever had. Very attentive and friendly staff - plenty of rooms and space for people that like sports or aren’t bothered (and just ask if you want them to turn up or down the volume). Give this place a chance and you won’t regret it!

Amazing atmosphere, lovely food and great staff! Came in for Mother’s Day with my wife and daughter and the service was incredible - friendly staff, beautiful interior and just overall a great place. The roasts are unreal, I wish I had a bigger appetite to be able to finish the massive portion! As mentioned, the staff are lovely - thank you to Pav, Andy, Alex and Lyndon for making our experience great :) Will definitely be coming back and recommending to friends!

I wanted to thank all of the wonderful staff at this beautiful pub, for the great night we had there celebrating my 60th birthday two weeks ago. Nothing was to much trouble, anything we wanted they sorted for us and they helped to make my special night truly memorable. Everyone said how lovely the room was , with a great atmosphere and a perfect selection of music that got us all up dancing , most of the night. I can’t thank you enough for an amazing night, I will always remember it so fondly and would have no hesitation in recommending this fantastic place to anyone looking for a venue to celebrate a special occasion.
