Unseasoned frites, horrific mackerel dish that had the most dreadful mouthfeel, let alone flavour. Hake dish was poor and the croquettes were ridiculously small and cold. The cocktails at the end of the evening were poorly mixed and espresso martini was a shocker. But on the plus side, the service was impeccable and the ambience was perfect. Wine pairing was on point from our waitress and the bread and Crab butter were delish. Went for the food, but was disappointed and to pay £200 for 2 peeps, you'd expect better. Still had a lush evening.

Situated in a lively and pretty chilled part of Bristol is Caper and Cure. You could easily walk past it…but that’s your loss. An excellent menu with excellent sourcing from across the region and Europe: - 4-6 choices per course - an excellent well-priced wine list - a good list of specials Our choices included: Chorizo croquetas- delicious Crab butter with soft herbs - lip-smackingly good with bread Perfectly cooked cod and hake The team there were great. My first time…but I shall return

We were seated on a solo table downstairs in an open kitchen setting. Unfortunately it was a bit unpleasant as the room is small and in such close proximity to the kitchen that it smells like an industrial kitchen. The light was stark and there was little ambiance or atmosphere compared with upstairs. Table got pushed back twice and two out of the four mains were unavailable. The Bouillabaisse tasted nice but was very small with minimal seafood and very little of anything else. The bread was probably the best part yet felt like it was just compensating for the skimpy £25 portion. Service was a bit awol but probably because they were understaffed and the table was out of sight.

Had a delightful Sunday roast here today. The beef was sublime very tender and tasty. The crab butter was to die for, a definite must try. Yet again an absolutely superb experience! We love this restaurant!! Restrained menu which is right up our street as shows the focus on quality. We had the croquettes, sardines and bread to share as a starter. All utterly amazing. The cafe de Paris butter with the bread was out of this world (that good that we took what we didn’t eat home - something we never do!!) For mains we opted for the onglet steak and gnocchi - both totally delicious. Sadly we couldn’t manage desserts but all washed down with a fab rose and light Italian red. A special mention has to go to Marcel who looked after us all evening. His enthusiasm for the food and his job was totally infectious - a real credit to the C & C team. Thank you Marcel. And thank you to all the staff and chefs. Another superb experience - we’ll be back.

We ate at Caper and Cure as a family. What a special little gem, centred in a busy, bustling stokes croft. Whilst the decor is slightly dated, with chandeliers and the odd painting, the restaurant has a real charm to it, somewhat resembling a French bistro. Like many restaurants currently it was very warm, so you’d be advised to dress appropriately for that! Service was very friendly, albeit a little frantic but we didn’t mind. I opted for the bouillabaisse, which I’ve had many times on my travels, with each restaurant offering their own personal take. I can confirm it’s up there with the best I’ve had in France. Wow. We also had the Cornish cod, which glistened and just flaked apart, with buttery ratte potatoes and a light sauce. To finish a perfect meal, a very classic tart au citron for me. No drills needed here, just executed in a way that respects the humble lemon tart. Just the way it should be. Testament to Caper and Cure. You’re doing something that many restaurants are missing the mark on. Serving beautifully cooked, honest plates of food in a friendly, comfortable environment. Again, just the way it should be (and stay). Thank you

Fantastic little bistro that easily rates as one of the top places in the city for food. Everything we had was amazing, the pasta, monkfish, crab, terrine, anchovies...worth getting a few things and sharing the lot. Definitely a place to come back and work through the menu.

We celebrated a 21st birthday at Caper and Cure, and while the staff were very friendly and welcoming, both the kitchen and service speeds left a bit to be desired. The restaurant wasn’t crowded, with only two other small tables dining alongside us, but our meal still took from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM for just three courses, which seemed long. The food was really good when it finally arrived, the kitchen puts a lot of effort into their dishes. However, the kitchen might have been slow, which could explain some of the wait. The service also could have been more efficient. For example, while one staff member was busy polishing glasses, they could have helped the other, who was struggling to bring out our nine plates two at a time. This lack of teamwork noticeably slowed down the delivery of our meals. Overall, the service was slow, but the food was very good, which made up for some of the waiting time.

There have been only 3 occasions in the last decade where I have been unable to comprehend how chef has created the wonderful dish I’ve been served with. Tonight was one of those three occasions. The standout dish is the crab butter, but everything we ate, and drank, was excellent.

We chose C&C for our first wedding anniversary dinner. It was a little slow to get to our table although it didn’t seem busy when we arrived. However once seated, we received a warm reception. We couldn’t resist the oysters - opted for 6 at £18. So fresh we slurped them up! Then followed it up with two mains from the chalkboard. Pork belly and the hake. The belly was incredibly tender & bursting with flavour. I enjoyed my delicate hake with potatoes to the last bite. Don’t be fooled by the portion size. We were happily stuffed but rounded it off with their cheese selection and a panna cotta. In doing so, my husband found a new blue cheese he loved; the cashel blue. The entire meal was approximately £115. Save this for a special occasion or if you’re feeling luxurious one evening. Reservation is recommended since we saw walk-ins being turned away.

Ridiculously good! We don't usually go for Sunday roast very often: it's usually too big, the beef option is often undercooked or overcooked (sometimes both, hehehe), the vegetables are sad, the potatoes fail, and the gravy is tasteless. Also, none of us really like the quantity of it. But THIS Sunday Roast at Caper and Cure is a completely different story. They've mastered it from A to Z: flavours, quantity, quality, price, etc. We all had pork belly and one fish dish, along with a couple of starters and desserts to share. The tasty rillette and cured red mullet were heavenly, but I highly recommend trying their crab dish - it's buttery goodness. The fish was perfectly cooked, but the pork belly stole the show: perfectly cooked vegetables, soft and superbly cooked belly, vibrant greens, and gravy so good you'd want to drink a pint of it. Even the sauces they offered were delicious: good mustard, tangy apple sauce, and yummy horseradish cream. Panna cotta and chocolate mousse for dessert, and a nice piece of cheese to finish, turned a delicious meal into an experience, thanks to the attention to detail of the great service and the flavors coming out of that kitchen."

Came here today for a roast and can’t fault it to be honest. I had pork and it had crispy crackling , lovely sides of red and normal cabbage, some of the crispiest roasters I’ve had aside my homemade ones. And the leek gratin was lovely and cheesey! Huge portion so definitely worth the money. Wine selection good. Please offer all condiments, even if it doesn’t so say “go with the meat” a lot of people like a choice of mint etc with all meats. Pudding menu could be better but that’s nit picking. Would return.

The food was amazing the Sunday that we went, but the service was strained as the two waiting staff were really busy overloaded looking after two floors. They both did this thing where they never smile and were "too cool" for that kind of thing. Anyway the food was amazing and we really loved everything apart from the cauliflower cheese which at that price should be fine for sharing, but honestly, the portion was so small, it was practically microscopic. Went here for the Sunday roast. Loved the veggie wellington. Loved the beetroot starter. Loved the wine. Great vibes all round

Honestly, such a worth while place to go! My partner and I went for dinner on my birthday and I had the best experience. Not only was the food divine, but the service was next level! A massive shout out to Emma, our server, who was extremely friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming! I will be recommending this place to everyone I know!

Beautiful location on the common. Cake was boring and dry. Coffee took a long time. Too many vegan things on the menu with unhealthy vegetable oils.
