Lilly Maria was a fantastic waitress. Was friendly and happy to give recommendations.

Apart from well intended and friendly staff, nothing went well in our dinner. We waited for 30 minutes for our first drinks and 1 hour for some nibbles to arrive to table. The food here is not fusion. Not Japanese. Not Peruvian. They brought some plates that are expected to be shared but it was spoon food. I have never seen spoon food to be shared. A steak plate to be shared? Never seen before.

Very trendy space. The spicy chicken Karaage is delicious. Stayed for drinks and snacks and Lily Maria helped us with the menu and was very attentive

Very cool place in Soho. Delicious food and amazing service from Adrian. They have nice Peruvian and Japanese dishes.

It was a great experience for us. I especially recommend the tasting menu, you get the chance to taste unique and delicious plates by tasting all the chef's specialties. I would also like to thank the kitchen and floor staff for preparing and serving grilled salmon and boiled vegetables so that our baby could eat them. It was definitely an experience we want to repeat.

The advantage of this restaurant is definitely the delicious food. I liked all the dishes I ordered. (I want to say hello to Valeria, thanks for the advice) But be prepared for high prices. One of the bad things is the arrangement of the tables. They stand very close to each other. And I generally did not like to hear other people's conversations during the meal.

Really bad experience . Very noise and very dark. You can even not see the food. They gave us a lamp when we finished our meal. Service is consistently poor, with slow and often absent waitstaff. They mishear one orde, placing blame on customers when mistakes occur. We paid for that dish but I am so angry that they blame all false on us, as I am one hundred percent that I said the correct name of this dish . Dessert orders are particularly frustrating, as wait times are excessive and menu availability is delayed. We waited for so long time and we can’t find anyone to order. I am so confused why this disaster service could charge service fee. Additionally, the food quality does not justify the prices charged. It was a disaster meal and ruin my Friday night even the whole weekend.

Had a mostly good meal here (apart from some rice which tasted of burnt plastic). We had a rather odd greeting where, upon asking if they had a table tor 2, we were asked to give a mobile number. The service was a bit slow despite the place not being busy. With some staff training and a bit of tweaking, this could be 5 stars.

My wife and I ate here for the first time last night and it really was marvellous! Chilled atmosphere, amazing food, and friendly, attentive service all made for a memorable night. This is not a cheap restaurant but it's worth it!

Some very interesting dishes. The purlple mash and the creme brulé were particular highlights but many other excellent dishes with distinctive flavours.

They do walk ins for drinks I believe, really really expensive but a lovely environment and good service, live dj when we went which was nice, thank you! Recommend the flor de manzana - the other cocktails were a bit sour if you don’t like that.

Great experience! Reception is awesome, service is stunning and the sushi is superbbbb! Fresh and a great mix between Japanese and Peruvian cuisine! Desserts and drinks are great! Love the mix and textures!

Great food and great atmosphere! It gets super busy, so a little bit understaffed.

While serving another table, a waitress stepped on my coat (which was hanging off the back of my chair). She gave me a very dirty look and very rudely demanded me to put my coat on the other chair as she almost tripped over. This made me and my guest both quite uncomfortable as she could have at least asked nicely. Because of this, we did not order more food/dessert, finished our food and went somewhere else. Atmosphere/ambiance was really good, and the food was also quite good, although a tad overpriced. From what I have read on some of the other reviews, they have also mentioned about the rude staff. So I guess if you were to go, it's really pot luck as to whether you get a good server or not.

What a delight! Highly recommend this place! we were a party of four, food was appeasing to eyes and belly! The Otoro was out of this world! Had a really nice get together with some friends last night. The food and drinks were amazing.Our server Hao was very tentative and made sure everyone was enjoying themselves. Definitely worth a visit if you haven’t been.

We went here over the weekend to catch up with some friends. The food was great, and service was outstanding. Special thanks to Hao who served us for the evening. He was friendly, courteous and very knowledgable about the menu with some great recommendations on the drinks and food. I was there for my birthday dinner and our server was Arjun which we are very happy with . He never missed our glasses to be finished and he would top it up always on time . Firstly, the ambiance here is wonderful. It was the perfect place for dinner: moody, comfortable, and fun. The food was INCREDIBLE. My friend and I had: padròn peppers (still thinking about these. So. Good.) vegan crispy rice, BBQ Huacatay Broccoli, Sato Maki roll, and the jungle salad. I would come back here in a heartbeat.

This was our 4th visit to Choto Matte. Although we really enjoyed the previous visits we were disappointed this time. Compared to the previous visit, the tasting experience prices went up 50% but the taste and experience did not. The coherence between the dishes seemed to be absent. Also in the vegetarian variant some fried rice dish was added, although I like rice a lot, I feel, considering the price of the menu, rice was out of place. The dessert was also removed from the tasting menu which was a disappointment. All in all I would consider the food ok, but considering the price, the promise of an experience, the rice and the absence of a dessert in the tasting menu, I rate this visit as poor.

Thought I’d take my family there after theatre on Sunday. I’d been to Marylebone so knew what to expect. In truth prefer the Marylebone one. Better seating. Didn’t like the bar style seating. It was an early Sunday evening so pretty chilled. Food was generally good. Staff were cool

Absolutely love this place , I have been been here more or less 6-7 times in the last 17 years and I think since the new manager Joanne is here even better. The positive vibes , food and lovely service made me want to come back more often. I am Italian and bit pesky with meat. I had the best fillet ever and I am not joking. It melted in my mouth. So loads of applauses to the chef and to Hao who looked after us for the whole dinner

Oh my, what can I say?!. Just one of the best meals of my life!. Part of First table otherwise unaffordable for me. Definitely would go again & highly recommended, service & attention to detail are exquisite. Ps check out the toilets, too, lol 🤯

I visited Chotto Matte with a few friends and we really enjoyed the evening. The food is really tasty as are the drinks. Service was good too. I removed one star because it isn't the cheapest place but it's worth it for an occasion.

The sea bass cheviche is one of the most beautiful dishes I have ever had

Wir waren zum 2ten mal in diesem Restaurant! Die Atmosphäre ist wirklich mega , Aber irgendwie will es bei uns nicht wirklich klappen! Service etwas schludrig, Getränke Bestellung nicht richtig verstanden und von 2 bestellten Hauptgängen wurde der eine vergessen! Die rips leider sehr geschmacklos, was ich bei so einem Grill nicht verstehen kann! Black cod , leider auch geschmacklich eher langweilig! Sushi war lecker ! Zum Schluss , sehr lange auf die Rechnung gewartet! Cooler Laden mit sehr geiler Musik, aber leider fur mich auch nicht mehr .

i must begin by mentioning that the waitstaff was so attentive + warm and the atmosphere was vibrant and buzzy. however, the appetisers, tempuras, robata grill menu items and the sushi was seriously underwhelming. unexpectedly, the matcha crepe cake with hazelnut and raspberries was LIFE CHANGING.

Absolutely loved this place! The pulpo is the best I have ever had (so tender and nicely smoked), all fish was well cooked (not chewy) and the sauces were all very tasty. The drinks were very nice too (yuzu margarita is amaaazing) and I am still dreaming about the matcha mille crêpe to this day. Our waiter was incredibly funny and friendly and super quick and available. I did not find the price excessive, it thought it was fair for the size of the table. I can only recommend.

Amazing service, great vibe, fantastic food.

Really fresh tasting sushi, the platter is great and has a lot of unique flavours. We got the tasting menu, while it is a little pricey you will leave feeling quite full. The beef was a little overpowering after the sushi so I would maybe just get sushi in the future. Staff is also very friendly and accommodating, I asked if I could swap my edamame to the padron peppers and they were happy to do this! Overall a very good experience.

Good mixture of Japanese and Peruvian food. We found all the dishes interesting. The price is on the high side compared to the potion. Still it's worth trying. Not a lot of vegetarian/vegan options though.

The most incredible, delicate flavours, in the most stunning surroundings. Hand crafted expert cocktails and the best service from Roberta and Israel, who were excellent at explaining the menu and made some great recommendations for us. Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough. Complete perfection.

The service was very slow. The food is not that tasty. It’s probably better to go here just for drinks as the prices are a bit expensive for food as well. Spent £100 here and felt like a huge waste of money, would have enjoyed my food and drinks at somewhere else much cheaper with better value for money. Seems like this restaurant has put all their effort into interior design and the ambience, instead of prioritising food, service and good drinks.

Came here on a Tuesday evening for dinner and was waited on by Arjun. He was great at helping us navigate the menu and we loved everything he recommended. The food and drinks were amazing and we also had the pleasure of experiencing things being flamed at the table. Can’t wait you come back again. Thank you Arjun!

Sushi inedible, gyoza clearly microwaved (and £19!), and, despite what appears to be a fully-stocked bar, multiple cocktails were unavailable. Staff are rude and snappy, and clearly don't intend to be helpful. Sincerely wish I'd wasted £95 elsewhere.

For the price this food is absolutely awful. The sushi here was so bad that my wife and I couldn't stand to eat more than a single piece. We splurged on expensive waygu gyoza and they tasted like microwaved frozen gyoza bought at a supermarket. To top the bad food, both cocktails my wife and I ordered could not be made despite each containing entirely different ingredients and what appeared to be a fully stocked bar. Guess not stocked enough to make signature cocktails? Finally the staff is so incredibly soft spoken over thumping, awful music. They don't seem to care about our experience. Just get the order, get out the food, keep churning forward. Do not go Chotto Matte Soho, you will certainly regret it.

Been here before and loved it so was expecting to again... however service was off, despite booking a table, we were told to wait ten minutes and then escorted up to a nearly empty dining area, diners then packed in as they arrived in too close tables and hard to get staffs attention despite many of them wandering around..... Food itself hit and miss though some highlights, all in all though there are better places for this type of food.

A totally perfect food experience From the initial contact with Jade at the restaurant regarding some personal health issues, to receiving the bill from the very efficient Isreal at the end of our meal, our experience was seamlessly perfect. We had the deluxe taster and every course was prepared and delivered to a level and pace to ensure this was one of the best dining experience my wife and I have had. Thank you to the whole Chotto Matte soho team. We will never forget how you made us feel. We shall be back

Great food and lovely cocktails

I'm not the biggest fan of Japanese cuisine apart from steaks etc and it doesn't help that I don't eat seafood. The food was nice, the grilled peppers were amazing as a starter, the beef gyoza lacked flavour and was dull. Wife loved the tuna. Would come again especially as they offer 50% discount on ala carte menu

Absolutely incredible!! Highly recommend the octopus, black cod and the seabass sushi roll. Also our waiter Adrian was amazing and really looked after us the whole night. We will definitely be returning!

Came here for my 40th birthday celebration as recommended by my cousin. The atmosphere was great. The location was central. The food was good loved the black cod. But purple potato mash was a bit of a disappointment. The dragon roll, papaya salad, squid and corn steak was amazingly tasty. Personally I was not fan of the tuna ( can’t remember the name). They have a nice touch with candle and sweet treat. Overall good experience. Would recommend this place.

The food was very tasty and some dishes, like the dragon roll or the warm beef fillet tataki, are to die for. The service was good and our waiter, from Malaga, was friendly and knowledgable.

Firstly, the services was impeccable. Our waiter, Arjuun, made us feel welcome from the moment he approached the table. We didn’t know what to have and he recommended the dragon roll which was so good. We had the matcha cake for dessert which was a perfect ending.

We’ve enjoyed the going to this fantastic and innovative restaurant for quite a few years now. Went with a friend for lunch midweek. I can recommend any of the fish from the robata grill. I had black cod, my friend had octopus. Both delicious. Sides of aubergine and brussel sprouts were tasty. Service was attentive, restaurant not too busy. We took advantage of their January offer, which made it excellent value.

Awesome dinner at Chotto Matte. Michał and his team were superb, serving up delicious pisco sours and some truly authentic Peruvian dishes. The ceviche and yellowfin tuna are a hit as were the numerous sushi rolls. Thanks for the wine suggestion too. See you guys again soon!

I was served by Roberta and Adrian on my visit today and they were amazing! They made wonderful recommendations for the food that me and my friends enjoyed. Both Roberta and Adrian made the dining experience excellent with their bubbly energy and are definitely an asset to the restaurant!

Food is nothing more than a solid 2/5 and the cost is too high to justify this. I got the vegetarian tasting menu with too many dishes with the same sour sauce and they mostly had the same flavor profile. I won't be going back or recommending it to anyone.

Grilled food- good! And that’s about it. The staff services were just obnoxious as if some of them are doing us a favour by serving us! The girl serving us, had such an attitude when I told her that main order took more than 45 minutes to come. To which her reply is - We encourage our customers to order everything at once! So guys, if you eat something, as mains but it comes looking like an appetiser and you want more of it, the second order will take forever to come. Seriously… and you will be served with an attitude rather than the food, if you question it! . Also, my husband got a stomach ache after that dinner, and he had nothing else apart from yellow tails and some chicken dish. . Would not recommend it to anyone. One of the worse experiences I have had in London.

It was a very nice evening with good food and prices over the top. The atmosphere and the service were excellent although we had to wait too long! But the service came to us regularly and apologized…so far so good. The sushi we ordered was a great quality and taste as expected but nothing special. So all in all it was a good visit with good food but overpriced for what it is.

I came here with high hopes as this was a birthday dinner and at a restaurant we had heard a lot about. The ambience was great but food was honestly average. Apart from the nikkei sashimi and Asado de Tira which were great, the rest of the food was average. We had asked for a candle with the desert since it was a birthday, which the server forgot to to. The service was also extremely slow - we spent ages trying to flag down servers multiple times. Honestly not what we expected from the restaurant

As a Londoner this restaurant has always been on my radar. The 50% off food offer for the month of January persuaded us to try the restaurant. We went on a Sunday evening and when we left we were only full of disappointment. Upon arrival, we briefly spoke to the table next to us who were leaving and asked them for recommendations. They told us to turn around and walk back out the door, not the best sign to begin with. The food was mediocre at best my partner and I both ordered the crispy rice dishes, the rice was cold and the topping drowned in an unpleasant sauce. It seemed that unpleasant sauces was the theme of the night because these were also present on the octopus dish, the aubergine dish, the calamari and a couple more dishes. I ordered some sushi - o-toro, my favourite. As a four piece dish wasn’t on the menu I was told the à la carte price would be £25 when the cheque came it was £32. When I queried this the waiter said he told me it was an approximate price and refused to do anything to correct it. That level of service was thematic of the evening for which 15% service charge is added to your bill automatically. One unusual element of the service was when the waiter refused to leave the soy sauce on the table telling us he was not allowed. It seemed that even this basic element of a Japanese meal was rationed. So in summary less than mediocre food, poor service and a depressing atmosphere. Even with the 50% of food offer with one beer and one bottle of sparkling water our meal came to over £100. Had we have been paying full price we would’ve made a complaint, even if having spent £100 we felt poor value, poor food and poor service we decided not to make a big deal about it. We won’t be returning here or trying any of their other branches.

This was my first time at Chotto Matte. It was a Thursday evening and was bustling with activity. My friend ordered all of the food for our party of 4. We had a range of dishes from the sea bass ceviche, different types of sushi, as well as chicken and beef dishes. They were really good. Service was efficient as the staff scurried around trying to squeeze themselves between tables. It was quite noisy and we rarely understood anything the waiters said about the dish they dropped off. They soon raced off as soon as they’d finished. I would definitely return.

The Miami, Florida location in the United States of America is subpar. I've witnessed firsthand the racism perpetuated by managers against their own employees. It's astounding how some managers still have jobs, given their blatant disregard for their employees' well-being. They neglect their responsibilities, refusing to address problems or take ownership. Instead, they leave employees to fend for themselves. This closed-door policy creates a stressful environment, evident behind the bar and in the unfair treatment of employees. The establishment lacks sincerity, leading to low morale and struggles. If managers simply did their jobs and treated employees fairly, things would improve. The lack of enthusiasm among employees is a clear indication of poor management. Corporate really needs to clean house or come visit for a month and set the record straight.

I wanted to write a review and inform about the terrible service we received from the waiting staff at Chotto Matte Soho on Sunday the 21st of Jan. We had a few cocktails at the lounge downstairs and we really enjoyed drinks and service. When we arrived to our table upstairs, our server was rude and condescending. Even aggressive if you ask me. Then, he started to ask personal questions to us, we were 3 ladies wanted to have dinner and we had a noisy rude server making our experience uncomfortable. We clearly didn’t wanted to answer to those sort of questions. He wouldn’t get the order properly and he was giving us bad attitude since the beginning of the dinner. The starters arrived and they were amazing! We really enjoyed the food. Then we waited for 45 minutes. During that time, we were trying to order more drinks but all FOH team members were telling us (sorry you are not my table.) in my opinion that shouldn’t matter. Our server didn’t checked on us in 45 minutes and we couldn’t order drinks. So we were calling any FOH member that were passing by the table to ask about our food. After asking at least 3 of them without any luck or any response, we decided to ask for the manager. First a girl came and we explained what happened. She told us that we weren’t her table so she couldn’t take the blame. We said that we just wanted a solution and wanted to talk to the manager. She went to (call the manager) Or server came after the other girl talked to him. He was rude again and wanted to know what was going on. We explained once again and he said; I can only offer you to remove the service charge. We couldn’t believe it. I asked for the manager again and after 10/15 minutes or asking for the manager. The manager finally arrived. This lady was lovely, polite and understood our frustration. She was the first person to apologise and to find a solution to our problem. We were very pleased after talking to her. We enjoyed our mains and desserts, but definitely we won’t be coming back as the overall service was awful. I hope you find this information useful.

Tasty food with a fantastic twist and presentation to your eyes.

Excellent fusion Japanese and Peruvian food. Possibly the best we’ve had in London so far. Some really authentic Japanese flavours too. Definitely worth to revisit. Highly recommend the spicy tuna on deep fried rice nigiri, the deluxe sashimi platter and the slow cooked beef.

Food is fab but staff are truly abysmal. Constantly getting things wrong and absolutely not in line with the price point and level you expect

Consistently great sushi throughout the years, unmatched vibe, design and overall ambience. Back to the food though, robata is perfect, love the crispy vegan rice, tuna tataki, wagyu tataki with fois gras and the sashimi tuna otoro just beyond unreal. Drool worthy stuff every single time. Sake game is solid, along with fabulous cocktails- lyche martini is a must. Strongly recommend.
