La comida es increíble. Tuvimos la tostada sin aguacate que fue increíble! Las tostadas francesas triplemente cocidas eran igual de increíbles y realmente lo recomiendo. El personal es siempre muy amable y el café es perfecto.

Siempre es una delicia tropezar con una joya de un lugar que sirve comida de alta calidad y delicioso café. Mi hija estaba extasiada con sus frijoles en las tostadas, y mis huevos y tostadas de tocino estaban un nivel más alto de lo que esperaba. Comida increíble, muchas gracias!

El chef debe comenzar un negocio de fabricación de frijoles al horno. No como frijoles horneados como norma. Creo que no me gusta el azúcar que ponen en la salsa. Los frijoles como parte del desayuno cocinado son sublimes. Volveré y probaré el desayuno vegetariano.

Gran lugar, deliciosa comida y capaz de acomodar sin gluten sin ningún problema. A mi esposa le encantaba el café y la canela. Estaba ligeramente agobiado por la casa especial chocolate caliente, parecía un poco acuoso.

Estoy casi indeciso en compartir esta crítica, ya que este lugar es increíble y quiero guardármelo para mí. El desayuno es increíble. Fresco, sabroso, a buen precio. Uno de los mejores que he tenido en cualquier parte del mundo. No olvidemos el café, hermoso blanco plano y café con leche. Y los frijoles para llevar a casa tienen los sabores más deliciosos y sutiles. Este es un equipo ganador y un lugar ganador para detenerse. ¡Ahora vengo temprano a Brighton el fin de semana solo para golpear esto antes de ir de compras!

Excellent coffee and Shashuka. Staff very helpful and friendly. Nice atmosphere. It’s a small cafe so you may have to wait if you want a table at busy times.

Put simply this cafe serves the best coffee in Brighton and the service is the best in the city. It may be on the small side but is always busy which tells its own story. Always well worth a visit.

Another of our favourite go-to places when we are in Brighton. Lovely fresh cakes. Today we had: Juice: Apple, ginger and honeydew melon Cake: Biscoff Unusual and quirky, just like Brighton! Love it!

I went back for the first time in a while to work early in the day when the shop was empty. When I asked for the music to be turned down I was told that they would put it down by one notch... the implication was no but we'll accommodate as little as we possibly can. They have always asked if they can bring you your coffee, this helps them to manage the queue... it is now labelled as table service and comes with a gratuity charge. When I queried it I was told that I had used their wifi for two hours... it wasn't the 30p that bother me... rather the attitude... and I had used my own phone for wifi... This is a small coffee shop... not a restaurant... Interestingly all the power sockets are now blanked off and unusable... read into this what you will. Guys... if you want more money then be honest about it and put up your prices!!!

The 70% hot chocolate is my new favorite thing. Both happy and sad I live in the USA and can't go every day :)

Had a very delicious brunch at Black Mocha. I had the garden breakfast with halloumi as an extra and my friend had the shakshouka - all really tasty. It had been really busy and is obviously very popular but we were well looked after and didn’t have to wait very long considering how busy they’d been. Staff were very friendly and doing a great job. Took some lemon and poppyseed cake away to eat later which was also very good. Would definitely return when next in Brighton

Coffee is always delicious here! Breakfast is great too. But this visit I had peanut butter and toast wasn’t too fond of the peanut butter if I’m honest 😛 Friend had Eggs Benedict - was expecting English muffins, was just sourdough toast - but he throughly enjoyed it in any case 👍 Overall it’s a great cafe and other choices of food are great.

what a lovely place! we have came down to a little holiday to Brighton from newcatsle and decided to stop here for a small breakfast before lunch! i got the vegan almond croissant and it was absolutely lovely! the atmosphere and the staff of the cafe are absolutely lovely! absolutely nothing bad to say about this cafe, will definitely come back here or recommend it to a friend. got no photos unfortunately got them all on my film camera.

Delicious cake and coffee. Tried the 70% chocolate which was unfortunately too rich for us but if you’re looking for good strong hot chocolate like drinking melted chocolate then that’s the one for you . Cakes were absolutely delicious

This is our usual coffee stop on the way into Brighton from the station. We had an oat milk cortado which was delicious. It is friendly and comfortable here and we have never had a bad coffee.

This place looked brilliant, just stopped in for a quick coffee, ordered and they said they would bring it out, where we were sitting at the front. Waited for ages as did the couple next to us, after a while they went back in and got a refund, after 25 mins we went in to do the same. Clearly they had just forgotten us, they then after rechecking what we had actually ordered said it would be right out. They were quite busy but not crazy busy and seemed to have no delay in severing take-away customers, the coffee was nice, when it eventually arrived.

Probably the best cappuccino l have ever had! I have been on a couple of coffee crawls now, and the coffee here is definitely up there with my favourite place back home in Epsom. Certainly the best l tried while in Brighton for the day.

Staff were knowledgable and passionate about coffee. They recommended a couple other places but after trying them here was still the best. They provide very balanced espresso here *chef kiss*

I’d seen this place on tripadvisor so wanted to take my coeliac daughter for a treat. Whilst all the cakes and some of the savoury treats are gluten free (and they really did look amazing), they were displayed on wooden boards next to gluten sandwiches. The person serving us said she could guarantee no cross contamination so we decided not to risk it. Such a shame to go to all that effort but then fall at the final cross contamination hurdle.

Superb fresh food and strong coffee. I had the vegetarian house brunch and my boyfriend had the meat house brunch. Friendly service and plenty of options.

Great brunch. Had the halloumi and avocado sourdough. Very good. Great selection of cakes too. Cute little spot and friendly service - Would definitely return. I booked for 10am, was quiet then but by the time we left it was full so would recommend booking.

We had breakfast here three days on the trot. It was so good we didn’t want to go anywhere else. Superb service from very friendly and helpful staff. I particularly like the meat brunch ( full English) with spicy beans. Really great place. Highly recommended.

Really great destination for a weekend brunch. The food was AMAZING, the service staff were all super friendly and accommodating(even if you decide you want white chocolate in your iced mocha, P.S 10/10 recommend). Overall absolutely great start to bank holiday couldn't recommend enough.

a pal and I came here for brunch - I used to work around the corner and came here quite a lot for lunch when it first opened but haven't been for ages.in the current climate it's a bit odd eating out but we were shown upstairs and sat by the window by a lovely friendly waitress. I ordered the vegetarian brunch with chilli jam on the side which was amazing along with an iced black mocha which I highly recommend, and my friend had pached egg and avocado on toast which she added bacon to (this was really thick cut streaky and cooked properly, she said it was the best bacon she'd had!) - both of our eggs were perfectly poached which is a simple but easy judge of a kitchen's skill and how fast the plates have gone from pass to table!overall I'd highly recommend and I will definitely be back!

We went for my son's birthday brunch - the waiter with the bright red hair was absolutely a sweetheart and offered to sing happy birthday! The vegan brunch was awesome with fresh pea shoots and the vegan hot chocolate he let us try first as it was apparently v strong on the cacao - but again delicious. We had an amazing 'snickers' and the poor waiter put up with my bad jokes! Would have preferred coconut milk in my tea but that did have soya/almond so can't complain. Atmosphere was relaxed but special enough for a birthday brunch with a teenager - also enjoyed the 'eat out to help out' voucher automatically applied. Very much recommended & we will be back!

The nicest most helpful and friendly staff. And super yum food. They are flexible and accommodating with the menu. We had the vegan brunch and poached egg with avo. Also really good coffee and loads of sweet goods on offer.

Literalmente, he sido atendida por la mujer más grosera, la mujer más grosera y condescendiente que he conocido. Obtuve un montón de labios porque no estaba 100% seguro de qué café quería inicialmente. Nunca había conocido a nadie tan atrás en mi totalidad; vida y no volveremos. Además, después de todo eso, el café estaba frío. Que tonto.

Very nice all round - decor, selection, coffee, breakfasts, lunches. WiFi was good, staff were friendly and it’s an ideal location. Pretty good music paying too.

My wife and I had a quick stop off for lunch and really enjoyed our time. Great staff who were happy to chat, great toasted sandwiches and a decent hot chocolate with Honeycomb... Will be returning on my next visit to brighton.

Estábamos en Brighton por el día y decidimos comenzar el día en otro de sus muchos lugares de brunch. El lugar está escondido en North Laines y, a pesar de tener mesas en dos pisos, todavía es compacto y pintoresco. Ambos elegimos un brunch con opciones de masa madre tostada; aguacate, semillas tostadas y huevo escalfado para mi novia y haloumi, aguacate, opción de mermelada de chile y huevo escalfado para mí. También tuve que probar su bebida de chocolate con un expreso agregado que estaba delicioso. Cuando llegaron nuestras opciones de almuerzo, ambos sentimos que, por el precio que habríamos esperado quizás un poco más en el plato, pero dicho esto, ambos eran platos de comida muy frescos y sabrosos con huevos perfectamente cocinados y deliciosa masa madre tostada. El servicio también era muy bueno, el personal era muy amable y hablador. Otro gran lugar para el brunch en Brighton.

I was working in Brighton for a week in the city centre and made it my mission to discover many of the independent coffee shops on offer there. This was by far my favourite. Not only because of their signature black mocha drink on offer, which is absolutely delicious.... but also the staff who were really friendly and the fantastic food and cakes on offer. Do yourself a favour and pay them a visit

This cafe is a convenient stop off place between the station and The Lanes. I thought the filter coffee was particularly good being both robust yet full of flavour and without bitterness. The salted caramel chocolate brownie was delicious.

Terminé la semana pasada de Francia, visitando a mi madre para el Día de la Madre.

Había buscado este lugar en Brighton, pero estaba muy decepcionado con nuestra experiencia. La comida era sabrosa, pero una pequeña porción de un huevo y un poco de aguacate por 10, con tocino servido en un bol al lado (?!) Y un sándwich de tocino muy seco. Los vasos de agua estaban sucios y también las jarras que los llenaban. La mesa de al lado tuvo problemas con su pedido después de que el personal no escuchó su pedido, pero no había una manera fácil de descifrar lo que se había pagado ya que los recibos no se ofrecen a los clientes. Es una pena porque había leído críticas muy buenas. Sentí que el personal no estaba interesado en los clientes.

Stopped here over a year ago when visiting Brighton, just had to stop again this time around. Food/cakes all freshly made and tasty. Good selection of food and hot drinks. Love it, wish there was one in Windsor.

A little gem in Brighton. I came here as I had an interview for a nearby shop, was a really laid back atmosphere and I felt at ease.

Stop for a hot chocolate and find out they do proper hot chocolate, so nice that I had 2, with the second one I tried the option with chilli, what a good combination. Highly recomended!!.

Have you ever had Hot Chocolate . . . . No Im sorry, you havent had hot chocolate until you have had a Black Mocha Hot Chocolate. As someone who has been known to eat chocolate in their sleep I'm amazed I struggle to finish this amazing concoction, Ive never met anything richer. Its out of this world, which is how I feel after I've had some.

I finally visited Black Mocha on my last visit to Brighton and its such a cute place! I had a mocha, which was perfect, and a lemon and almond cake - amazing. Service was great, everyone was smiley and friendly. I will definitely be back

We came upon this place by accident-what a gem! Good coffee, a huge salad loaded with all kinds of interesting vegetables, avocado dressing and some of the best falafels I've had on top. Good sausage roll too according to my daughter. The cafe looks tiny but there was plenty of space in a sunny room upstairs. The staff were busy but sweet and smiley nonetheless.

As the saying goes, 'good things come in small packages'. The Black Mocha is a fantastic example of why we all should be supporting the independent cafes. Whilst it may be cosy it is always busy and a must do treat stop for our family. The range of freshly baked products and menu items are quality, topped only by the best coffee!!

Brilliant Sunday morning breakfast. Awesome granola and perfect sourdough toast, all served with a smile in a lovely interior.

This is a super cafe that makes great coffee. It has a couple of tables outside so we could watch the world go by. Every time I come here I end up talking with someone. I had one of their honeycomb chocolate brownies. It was light and not too sweet and delicious.

If you are trying to avoid processed sugar but missing having a bit of cake then definitely try the Black Mocha raw cakes. I have been a few times and everything always tastes excellent.

We came across this little cafe by pure chance on a weekend trip to Brighton. First we had a coffee and a delicious vegan snickers bar cake to share with the coffee. The coffee was smooth and delicious, and the cake was a real treat. All the cakes looked fantastic.

Black Mocha is a cute little cafe serving brunch, lunch, coffee and cake located in the North Laine of Brighton. The menu offers a great variety and there really is something to satisfy all dietary requirements as there are multiple vegetarian, vegan and/ or gluten free options. I had the potato dosa with poached eggs and spiced cauliflower which was a delicious lunch, full of flavour and cooked perfectly. As well as the brunch menu there is a good selection of cakes/deserts and sandwiches/ other lunch options. As well as exceptional food, Black Mocha has a cool yet unpretentious vibe and the staff are lovely, making it in my option one of the best cafes in Brighton.

I had soup and a savoury muffin on a weekday lunchtime, for £5 together; good value, and very tasty.

Small cafe, looks nice. Coffee was average at best. Asked if I could have something other than poached eggs, to which they replied “no”.. what does your chef not know how to scramble eggs? It takes 30 seconds. Not only that but they were rude, dismissive and unhelpful. More interested isn’t their own conversation.

This is a friendly café with a couple of tables outside and plenty of room upstairs. The coffee is great and they do raw food cakes plus great quality breakfasts - vegan, veggie and meat.

I had wanted to go here for ages after seeing photos of their hot chocolate and marshmallows. Needless to say it did not disappoint. They had an array of cakes which I will be sure to try next time.

Fantastic selection of raw vegan slices and fresh salads and sandwiches. Great service and welcoming interior. I chose their cashew and goji berry raw tarts and it was fantastic - fresh and zingy with great smooth texture. Highly recommend!!!

A great little spot in the midst of the chaos and colour of North Laine, where it's possible to escape from the turmoil for just a moment and relax. Even when busy, the various seating areas allow some peace for reading or a chance to chat - we sat near people teaching chess while others knitted.The coffee was exceptionally good - well-made from good, robust blends and the perfect accompaniment to the baked treats on offer. We sampled a white chocolate and red berry flapjack, which considering it was made without refined sugar was perfectly balanced between sweet and tangy. The other baked goods looked equally tempting.I have a feeling if I lived in Brighton, I'd spend a lot of time and money at Black Mocha.

Proper tea. No added nonsense. Ceylon; oolong - proper stuff. Sandwiches are nice too (made with locally made artisan bread) and pretty reasonably priced. Friendly staff and the ability to spend a fortune on classy chocolate if that's your thing (some cheaper options include a small but intensely-delicous brownie square for about £1). Well worth checking out.

The best cappucinos I've had in a while, coupled with a wide-ranging assortment of interesting cakes and treats make this a top coffee-shop destination. Vegan friendly cakes, odd cakes (eg avocado based chocolate tarts) and classic cakes available.

Stopped for a sandwich lunch after being told by a friend how good Black Mocha was. Did not disappoint. Cosy layout with additional seating upstairs. I shared a table as it was so busy on a Saturday lunchtime. Nice, fresh sandwich and a pot of (leaf) Earl Grey tea - just what I wanted. Stopped to look at the chocolate selection for sale, on my way out; looked good quality bars of chocolate and would make a great gift or just a nice treat for oneself! Next time :-)

Excellent choice of fresh roasted and ground coffee's, served to your table, nice surroundings, very laid back, sit in the window seats and watch the world go by or retreat to the upstairs lounge, really nice place to enjoy a decent coffee.

This Coffee Shop has an amazing environment for you to sit down and have a lovely cup of coffee, with friends or independently. The staff are all very lovely and friendly, and come and serve your coffee to your table which is perfect. Coffee standard is to a very high level, and i would also recommend trying there black mocha, which is different to what I've before, but is simply luxurious from what a black coffee is normally. 10/10, I'm a frequent customer.

Myself and a few friends found this wonderful coffee shop whilst walking around the lanes of Brighton. A nice selection of drinks available, with coffees, teas and hot chocolates. I would definitely recommend here if you would like a good quality Coffee, tea or hot chocolate.Staff are friendly and service was great.

Lovely little find. We stopped off for dessert as they have a wonderful selection of raw and vegan cakes which were seriously AMAZING! I had a raw chocolate berry cheesecake which was really rich and delicious. They also sell yummy Booja Booja vegan ice cream too. What a great find- will definitely return!

Brighton drinks more coffee per capita than any other location in the UK. So much competition. That's why Black Mocha shone for me. What a beautiful little place. It never errs onto the side of too pretentious about it's coffee, as some cafes do, but continues to provide fantastic coffee and probably my favourite range of sweet treats to go along with it.

I went there today for the first time and it has now become my favourite place for coffee in the area. Great coffee and lots of food intolerance options available for those who require that sort of thing. Good decor too, making the whole experience very comfortable and unpretentious.

Understated little coffee shop does fabulous coffee! Their signature drink is advertised on the board outside as '70% cocoa chocolate and espresso... it's like flying' & it is! Perfect pick me up, dairy free/vegan to boot. Lovely selection of counter food including vegan/raw and soughdough sandwiches. Friendly, happy service. Competitive in a tough and crowded market.
