Chisou - Mayfair in City of London, Westminster

Popped here one afternoon last week with friends. We had intended on just having a drink (as we had already just had lunch) but could not resist ordering a large plate of sushi to share and some edamame beans. Food was excellent and service friendly and polite. Would definitely come here again for a complete meal.

Was the first place we visited post lockdown.The food is authentic and the ambience is amazing.The little section outside is super romantic.They gave us blankets and hot water bottles to keep us warm :)Our server Eyad was really sweet and helpful and made our experience really special.Will be going back again and again!

We just had an amazing dinner at Chisou, where the outside set up was just perfect: beautiful lights, outside heating, blankets, cool music. The food was as usual very good and our waiter, Eyad, was very kind and attentive. We were celebrating our daughter’s birthday who was offered a great surprise desert! We will be coming back very soon.

First time visiting Chisou. Food was fanstastic and the service was exceptional (especially from the waiter, Eyad) We especially enjoyed the Aburi Sake Toro Truffle and the Unagi Maki. Furthermore, Eyad was super attentive and friendly, definitely makes my dining experience an enjoyable one! I would definitely recommend this restaurants to my friends

Came for dinner after lockdown finally lifted, and was welcomed by Chris and Kosuke who looked after my girlfriend and me so well during the night. Ordered nigiri mix, sugoi roll and sashimi omakase. Fish was really fresh and the sushi was well made. Would definitely come back again.

Excellent Izakaya. A very nice and authentic Japanese restaurant situated in a cobbled stone streets with charming tables and heat lamps outside. Great variety of food on the menu and perfectly executed. Highly recommended.

The food was outstanding, by far the best sushi I’ve ever had in London (almost identical quality to the food I had in Japan) and well priced considering how great the meal was. He estado buscando buena comida japonesa y esta no me decepcionó: el sashimi / omakase para 2 (28 piezas) elegido por el chef, el tataki wagyu y el salmón braseado con trufa estaban deliciosos. El pescado sashimi era muy fresco y uno de los mejores que he probado en Londres (la selección del chef incluía salmón, atún, besugo, lubina, pulpo y sashimi mackeral). Terminamos con el bento de postre que fue suficiente para compartir entre dos!

Gran restaurante, con productos auténticos que los chefs logran combinar en deliciosos platos. La Ensalada Horenso Clásica de Chisou fue absolutamente deliciosa, parece tan simple pero el sabor es tan sofisticado. La calidad del Gyu Tataki está fuera de este mundo (rebanadas de carne) que también fueron marinadas increíblemente. Entonces, por supuesto, la razón por la que fuimos allí fue por el Tonkatsu que no nos ha defraudado en absoluto, al contrario, ¡casi tan bueno como en Japón! :). Tienen cerveza japonesa y una amplia selección de sake (de ahí el nombre Izakaya). El entorno es realmente agradable, trae recuerdos de Japón. Un poco caro, pero definitivamente sabes lo que pagas.

Vine aquí para almorzar. El servicio fue rápido y atento. La tempura soba estaba deliciosa, solo un poco de lástima que pusiera toda la tempura crujiente en la sopa, lo que resultó en una pérdida de la tempura crujiente y empapada de inmediato. La guarnición de tofu que pedí también era de alta calidad y deliciosa. Una buena opción para la comida japonesa en bond street / oxford street.

Vine a este restaurante con mi amigo para celebrar mi cumpleaños y lo pasé de maravilla. El servicio fue insuperable y el personal fue muy acogedor y trabajador. Trabajaron duro para hacer que la experiencia de mis amigos y la mía fuera tan fantástica. Un gran agradecimiento a la gerente Simona que siempre hizo todo con una gran sonrisa incluso cuando le pedí tantas fotos. También nos traen algunos pequeños pasteles y bebidas de cumpleaños que nos encantó. Amazing family experience at one of London‘s very best Japanese restaurants. The standout dishes included the Spinach Salad with spicy prawns and the black cod. The staff are amazing and very family friendly

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. The fish is fresh however the filleting skills are lacking. The slices of sashimi are cut too thick and some of the sashimi were a bit chewy l, particularly the octopus.

Siempre una delicia. Esta fue nuestra primera comida después del bloqueo y no decepciona. El cangrejo de caparazón blando con rollo de trufa es increíble. También obtuvimos algunos de los clásicos nigiri de atún graso y Yellow Tail & Jalapeño que se derriten en la boca. El restaurante tiene un ambiente relajado con un servicio amable y una de las mejores selecciones de sake de la ciudad. Las mesas están bien distribuidas si se tienen en cuenta las medidas de distanciamiento. Espero volver.

Wonderful food and brilliant setting. Visited this restaurant with friends and had a set menu for 4. The food was delightful each course extremely tasty. We had a table right next to where the sushi was prepared. Very reasonable price too. I will be returning it was fabulous!!

i have been a very strong supporter of Chisou for over 10 years, in various locations, from beauchamp place, hannover square and woodstock st. i tend to go every week, with friends, clients and family. last Thursday, the head waitress was terribly rude, service has been very bad on the last 4 occasions. the concept of sushi miles is totaly false, we can never redeem. every time i wanted to redeem there was an issue. i am writing this review not because i am just a walk in customer, i am a regular. and it was the last time i enter these premises, i don't agree with staff being rude to customers. i wasn't alone and my guest was terribly shocked by the attitue. it has become such an unfriendly place that i am never ever going back. what a shame ! for an expensive place, at least provide better service for the regulars and non regulars.

Yesterday we had an amazing experience dining at Chisou. Everything since we arrived was surprising and exquisite. We were greeted by the team with a cheerful welcome while Peter was leading us to our table. Since we have some experience in Japanese restaurants and we are always looking for new dishes and tastes we asked Peter for some advise. We had a spinach baby leaf salad that was incredible. The sashimi was spectacular. We tried as Peter suggested the Wagyu beef and the black cod and there the experience went up to the outstanding. We finished with something simple but surprising: a vanilla ice-cream with some drops of a very special and flavoured aged sake. To sum up we had the best dinner ever in a Japanese restaurant out of Japan and mainly because of Peter’s guidance and service. Thank you!

We were delicately welcomed and served by the team and the diner was excellent. Guided by Peter we had a great taste of some of the menu highlights. The food was tasteful and the raw ingredients are outstanding. I truly recommend Chisou to Japanese food lovers and to those who want to discover it. Don’t miss the sake!

Having eaten a lot of sushi in the west, this is by far the best Japanese meal I've ever had. Not only was the food amazing, but our waiter Peter (who by the way spoke Japanese perfectly) guided us through the menu and gave us some amazing recommendations as well as sake pairing for every dish. He explained every plate, ingredient and pairing in a way that showed in depth knowledge of the product and preparation. I will definitely come back and order the same things (with Peter's recommendations bore in mind!).

Excellent Japanese restaurant! We had several delicious items but the outstanding one was the Sugoi Maki Chisou rolls - absolutely delicious.

We love Chisou and have been going since they were in the old location. This was our first time in the new venue and overall service and food were very good. We were slightly disappointed of the snow truffle crab maki which comes at nearly £20 and wasn’t tasty at all. Definitely too pricey for what you get. Also I was suprised the restaurant didn’t have a baby changing station thought this was a regulation and being with my 1 year old daughter changing her was a complete challenge! Otherwise the ambience was very nice and the staff were helpful and friendly.

Being a sushi lover, I ensured prior to arriving in London we had somewhere to go for sushi whilst down. Chisou seemed to tick all the boxes. We were greeted at the front door by a lovely older lady who was a great waitress throughout the experience. However, the food was disappointing. For the London price we were paying, I expected a lot more quality and taste. Being from Aberdeen, there are very few sushi places so when we go on holiday we always ensure we try one of the best in the city. My sushi rolls weren’t very big and lacked the taste I was expecting upon reading the menu however they were okay. I have had much better for a much cheaper price elsewhere. We also ordered Wagyu beef skewers which were extremely fatty and over seasoned which is not what you want when paying a premium price for a tastier specific cut of beef. Our total bill was over £100 which I just thought was absolutely ludicrous however we paid as you should and we continued on with our night. Dissatisfied with the food however the waitress and the restaurants layout was great.

Acostumbrada a sushi de fusión este sitio se quedó por debajo de mis expectativas. Me gustó, pero me parece muy caro para lo poco que pedimos. El spicy tuna, altamente recomendable. En general, deberían innovar mas.

Bestilte sashimi og avokadosalat, fikk en liten haug salatblader, 2 biter laks, 1 bit tunfisk, 3 reker og 1/2 mini avokado. Kjempetørt. Maki miks var helt OK, men ikke noe en ønsker å bestille igjen, ikke gode smaker og så heller ikke lekkert ut (ikke lagt opp pent eller pyntet på noe vis). Maten var den dårligste vi hadde under hele ferien, og var den laveste standard sushi vi har spist. Dyrt var det også (ift hva vi fikk).

The food was great and all.. Sadly, me and my spouse got food poisoned.. We wouldn't say we got it from this restaurant if we weren't sure where it came from. It ruined our last day in London.

Nothing to fault. Great menu, great quality, great service, authentic design and decent value. The real thing - light....came in through the back entrance off a hidden street, just as you would discover in Tokyo....only to realize climbing up the stairs that this was the tradesman entrance....adds to the atmosphere

This is a very popular Japanese restaurant tucked off Oxford Street. We had some great Sushi and rolls. It's rather expensive given how understated everything is. The restaurant is pretty basic in terms of decor and there isn't much style. The good food was the stand out feature!

I loved every bit of my experience eating at Chisou. The staff are very polite and professional, they greeted us in Japanese and made sure that all our needs are satisfied. The food was outstanding - fresh, nicely presented and very delicious! I would definitely recommend it to everyone that want to have an amazing dinner in Central London.

I went to get dinner with friend and I was left with one of the best dinner experiences I had in a while! From the friendly staff ready to help you with your choice to the chefs who are extremely professional and passionate with preparing your food. The food is authentic and phenomenal, everyone in the group was left speechless after they finished with their plate. Your taste buds will thank you after a night out in Chisou Sushi.

quality of the produce was one of the best that i have had in london or pretty much anywhere. really enjoyed the atmosphere, some of the best japanese restaurants in london can be a little too glitzy in their set-up but this was a properly authentic atmosphere.

Nice Asian fusion food. Reasonable quality. Portion is quite small (Japanese style) but lacks the elegance of true Japanese style, while charging at rates of Japanese restaurants. OK for an one-off visit but probably overpriced to attract repeating guests.

Lunch on a busy Friday, no prior reservation. It is one of my wife’s favourite restaurants when she is in London for business, but for me it was my first time in this Chisou. The place looked really busy when we arrived. No problem: warm welcome and we were immediately shown to a table. The tempura was outstanding, and the sashimi world class, but the star of the meal was undoubtedly the Junmai Ginjo sake we chose (Koshi No Kanbai Sai - Blue river). I had never seen such a long list of sakes in a Japanese restaurant ever...(and I have been to many Japanese restaurants in the world including in Japan)

Once again back in London we had an exceptional diner at Japanese restaurant Chisou. Lot’s to choose. Sushi was marvelous; The fatter Tuna and the salmon with black truffle. And the tempura as well as the deep fried chicken plus the surimi was finger licking good. Prices were not cheap but it was worth while. So when shopping at Oxford street look then in Woodstock street for this hidden pleasure.

The fish was decent, but not sure I can give it anymore than 5 stars. I had read very high reviews, but couldn't see or taste the "wow" factor for the life of me.

This is the second time I’ve been to Chisou Woodstock Street in two weeks. To say I like it is an understatement. This Japanese restaurant is the best in London!

You know you are in a good japanese restaurant when there are japanese people between the customers. I went there today for the first time and I was not disappointed. While the price was a little high, I was pretty satisfied with the quality of the food.

This is a little intimate place with good food and polite service. Somehow it was so intimate and peaceful that you could genuinely enjoy the food in the middle of London.

Fantastisk god mat og koselig lokale. Hyggelige og hjelpsomme servitører. Kjøkkenet lå midt i restauranten og vi kunne se kokkene jobbe bak disken. Vi valgte sushi og shashimi men de hadde også mye annet godt på menyen. Flotte råvarer - vi kommer tilbake neste gang vi er i London.

A tres de nosotros nos gustaba ir japoneses, así que reservamos este restaurante deliciosamente íntimo y delicioso. Los pequeños comedores están en tres pisos diferentes, muy acogedores (¡en el buen sentido!). La comida es absolutamente fantástica, como es el servicio que es amable y eficiente. El sake, un gran menú de sake, también es excelente. Definitivamente no se puede perder.

Regresé a mi restaurante japonés favorito en Londres después de un año para descubrir que se ha reiniciado en algo que tengo que decir que es aún mejor. Atrás quedó el ambiente temperamental de izakaya, reemplazado por algo mucho más brillante y moderno y un estándar más alto en general.

Hungry and looking for lunch we saw the menu down an alley and entered not realising we had come in from a back entrance. Got a pleasant surprise when entering the main restaurant area and were delighted with the service and tasty well presented food.

Never had a bad experience in a Japanese restaurant. Chef is not qualified to cook. Agedashi tofu was rock hard and beef was over cooked. Not worth spending over £100 for two without wine. Feel rip off and not a place for cooked food.

Chisou simply gets it right - extremely high quality food (the sashimi is sublime) served in a warm, inviting and unpretentious setting...and it’s great value for money to boot! My favourite Japanese restaurant in London and I’ll keep going back.

A laid back place, with the friendliest of welcomes. Service was just right. The sashimi was very fresh - so tasty, especially the scallops. Lots of other, interesting, different dishes on the menu. The pineapple carpaccio was one of the best desserts I ever tasted.

Brillante lugar para el almuerzo. Llegué sin reservar con un restaurante muy completo y me pidió que se sentara en el bar para ver los procedimientos. Un poco ventoso cuando se abrió la puerta, pero nada de mayor preocupación. Una comida muy agradable tomada con Sake caliente, el Sashimi es perfecto, así como el tempura Yasai que nos recordó nuestro reciente viaje a Japón. Spot en servicio y rematado con helado de macha. ¡Magnífico!

Another outstanding meal at Chisou! It's the first time we've visited the new location and we're really impressed: it feels lighter and more airy than the previous Mayfair location. Service as ever was outstanding and the food itself was absolutely delicious. Very highly recommended.

Nice interior with decent sushis but the extremely poor service is what puts me off. We waited ages for somebody to take an order and again waited very long before we could pay. The restaurant was nit crowded at all. Given prices, I would have expected better service.

Visit this place every time I came to London and it never disappointed, lunch or dinner. For people who likes real sashimi this place is a must.

Como gran fanático de Maguro Sushi, encontrar un lugar como este que ofrezca no solo selecciones en Atún Extra Extra Extra Graso, sino también en diferentes variedades de Atún (como el Blue Fin) hizo que mi experiencia culinaria fuera adictiva. Me encontré regresando por varios días, solo asegurándome de que la calidad de las diferentes selecciones permaneciera constante. . . Y no imaginario. El servicio también es una experiencia, simplemente ingrese por las puertas y aquí los cantos de bienvenida del chef XD

Been there for a quick shopping break on the take away side of the restaurant. Food is good but for the quantity served I find it pretty expensive. I have enjoyed my quick lunch and my warm sake but regarding the food I found better somewhere else pricewise.

La situación cambió recientemente. Ahora está en la calle: La dirección de tripadvisor Woodstock es equivocada. El pollo katsu sabía muy bien y extraordinariamente como cerdo. Sin embargo, la col fue tristemente falta esencial desmenuzada. El arroz no sabía como arroz japonés. La nueva decoración del restaurante es muy bonito y parece ordenado y caro. Así que, ¿por qué economizar en calidad de arroz? Es tan extraño para servir la sopa de miso, junto con la ensalada como entrante: no puedo conseguir mi cabeza alrededor de por qué esto es hecho.

The Welcome and service was fantastic. From the Manager to the waiters all excellent. The ambience is nothing great. Tables are too close to each other that you can hear all the conversations on the table next door. Asked for a Large bottle of water and was told they had run out!! You can imagine how shocked I was to hear a resturant out of water. The food arrived and asked for chilli Sauce. And Yes, you guessed it right. “Sorry sir we do not have any chilli sauce but you can use the powder!!” I just didn’t have any words. This is meant to be a high end Japanese resturant and you don’t even keep large Water bottles and chilli sauce? At the prices they charge you are better of going to Nobu.

The restaurant has closed down and is being relocated. This would have been helpful to have been notified about in advance. Our booking had been moved to the sushi counter next door without notifying us, and it meant we had a much more limited menu and different ambience. Some communication about the closure would have been preferable.

I took my kids for lunch as a special treat on a Saturday to the Mayfair branch (actually right by Oxford St tube so it’s very convenient). We ordered mostly a la carte and one set lunch. Note that the set lunch is much better value and you will find these options at the back of the menu, so make sure you check them out first!

A pleasant, small restaurant. The food was high quality and enjoyable. Tables are fairly close together, so privacy is a little tricky. That said, I sat outside which was fine.

I visited on recommendation of a good friend Mr Edmundsson of Iceland. Mark M was superb and spot on with his recommendations. I had Sashimi and Octopus carpaccio. All were superb.

出張で夕方ロンドンに着き、ホテルにチェックインして向かってきたのがこのお店。オックスフォード、リージェントストリート、日本でいうと銀座４丁目から一本入ったところにある居酒屋風とはいってもオシャレな店構え。店内も日本酒の樽や一升瓶が展示され、日本にいるような雰囲気。刺身盛り合わせ、鳥からあげ、寿司盛り合わせをいただいたが、どれも本格的。ロンドンでも活きの良い魚が手に入るようになったようですね。店内は私以外は外国人で賑わっておりました。オススメのお店です。
