Banana Tree - Soho in City of London, Westminster

It was a great experience that we had at Banana Leaf. Right from the time we entered, the ambience the food and till the time we left the experience was truly awesome. Deepanshu, took care of us and he ensured that all our requests were addressed and most importantly he served with a smile. Will highly recommend Banana Leaf to all who are visiting London.

The whole experience was great but what made it even better was the fantastic service from Shamil. He was super professional, I was asking many questions as I haven’t been here in a while and he so was knowledgeable about all the food. He even gave us some suggestions. Extraordinary customer service!!

As a pescatarian, I find the menu very wide and inclusive, as well with veggie options. I was served by a host named Shamil, and I found him very nice and welcoming. He made the whole atmosphere very friendly as well.

Good varied menu, reasonably priced, tables very squished together.

The food was delicious, but being near the main doors made it quite cold for us. To improve the experience, it might be beneficial to adjust the seating arrangements. Additionally, lowering the volume of the music could create a more comfortable atmosphere for conversation.

Iveta was the server. Very polite and explained everything clearly

Decided to eat here one evening because of the vegetarian options and the good reviews. Unfortunately, our experience did not match expectations. We spent about $75 USD on drinks (2-for-1), an appetizer, and two entrees, none of which were good. Writing this review now to hopefully benefit others: The piña coladas tasted like juice from a can, with no detectable rum. The vegan satay appetizer was cold, and the texture was strange (vegan meat just may not be my thing). The signature noodle dish was bland, and my tofu pad Thai was almost inedible with so much salt and oil. Service was also slow. To be fair, it was very busy and we were glad to have a table without waiting. Still, I would not recommend the above dishes on a busy night to other patrons.

Review of Banana Tree Soho I recently visited Banana Tree Soho and, unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The service was slow and disorganised from the start. I had sent a list with the names and orders in advance, but when we arrived, the waitresses insisted I dig through my emails to retrieve it, which was both unnecessary and frustrating. Ordering drinks took an unreasonably long time, adding to the overall inefficiency. The space was cramped, with no clear seating arrangements, forcing us to climb over a bench just to sit down comfortably. As for the food, it was mediocre at best. The dishes were okay but definitely didn’t live up to expectations, especially considering the hassle with everything else. Overall, the chaotic service and lack of space overshadowed any positives. I wouldn’t recommend this location unless significant improvements are made. The cocktails were 2 for 1 and I would recommend the lychee drinks for any lychee cocktail lovers. Naveen was attentive and welcoming but the other staff seemed really confused with the list of orders.

Booked here for my birthday as read in a previous review they have Gluten Free options. Only starter that’s GF is salad which is poor! There’s about 4-5 mains that are GF. The rice was hard & dried out, and there was not enough sauce in the curry to wet the dried out rice to the end, so left a third of it. Ordered 2 cocktails each at start and these did not come until we had finished eating! We didn’t even have water on the table so absolutely nothing to wash the food down with! Was suppose to get coleslaw with the meal but got done limp shredded lettuce instead! Service at our table was dreadful and the whole place was chaotic & noisy. Went to the loo, they were dirty with “liquid” all round the base of the bowl! Whilst waiting to use them I waited in the corridor, and could see into the kitchen - shocked to see how dirty the floor was - really bad and how dirty the rags were that they were using to wipe stuff!! Turned up 10 mins early and the manager told us to wait even though there were plenty of tables empty and ready all wiped down! There was also a queue outside, which we were in initially but after 15 mins of not moving yet seeing empty tables through the window, we booked a slot online as we were queuing so we got in a fraction quicker. Refused the cocktails when they arrived as did not want to be sitting in this awful place trying to knock back 2 cocktails on a dinner! Finally got some water toWould not recommend this place and will never be returning! Ruined my birthday night!

This was one of the worst dishes I have ever eaten. I took the Crispy Chicken in Mango & Sweet Lime Sauce , it was nothing as on the picture. Just a kip schnitzel with a very bad mango sauce. I’d never recommend this place to anyone

Utter disaster Chaotic upon arrival. Crowds at the door which seemed a good sign. But no one bothering to do proper crowd control. Sat at table, and dirty tatty menu on table. Asked for allergy menu and our sour faced server who seemed to be unable to smile or speak in more than three words pointed at a bar code on the menu. Which took you to the online menu, where to determine what was in each dish you had to select EVERY dish individually to figure out what you could eat. Long time to get our drinks order in. No one bothered to check on us. Ignored us when we were trying to get attention for another bottle of wine. Long time to get mains ordered Looked like a fair few staff but they were running round In a chaotic manner I had satay. Which was nice for starter but the ramen was disappointing. The noodles were essentially a block of straight to wok noodles. Still a solid block in a dishwater of a broth. It was incredibly loud which meant you had to battle to be heard by the rest of the party or the wait staff (when they bothered to come by) This lead to it being overly loud as all the customers were battling with the stupidly loud volume. Toilets were dirty. And only one for men and one for women leading to long queues. QR code on table to pay. Which allows the wait staff to spend time doing running around headless chicken impressions. However service charge is forced upon you and no way to remove it if the service was atrocious ( like ours was) Not one for a return visit. Far better places in London

Nice place to go get some decent halal food, matsu chicken curry was really nice but needed more sauce, beef rendang was good but needed more spice and sauce was very dry, for the starters the prawns were really nice and the duck dumplings I loved with the sauce they give. We sat and ate within 30 minutes in total.

Dish filled with frozen ingredients (ramen), lack of vegetables in the pad thai. The service is good, but the room being large, it's hard to get our drinks before the end of the dish. If you don't want to eat Asian food, go to vegan tofu, which is cheaper, 10 minutes' walk away.

Bad experience i order cicken… they ghive me fish i show to manager and waiter… and they say …. OK.. … and they go to work on other table after 45 minute I ask if they can take the plate because I not eat FISH and if I can have a pancake… they say ok but they not touched the plate , The plate of the desert was full of WATHER than dirty…. Was hard from microwave … seeds of sesamo missing… was 100% bad … I ask for the bill then they charge me the full price of the chicken but i not touch the food or eat because was with the fish inside the manager say …ok sorry for the error … I NEED PAYE THE PLATE and if I want they can give me a takeaway box…. What sens are walk in a restaurant waiting 15 minute with security outside to eat food inside then order chicken and receive fish … and than take all the cold food and go home with bus or metro to eat home a coold takeaway food …🤣 Please if the people they not speack English they can’t work with food and they can’t cook all toghether is a total waste of money😡😡😡 100% avoid THIS PLACE, IS DIRTY AND THEY Don’t KNOW WHAT is HYGEN AND ALLERGIES OR CONTAMINATION OF FOOD FISH AND MEET 1th time in my life they make mistake and they say OK 🤣pay the full price and if want we chive you a takeaway box…. ( IM NOT EAT PROWNS )… the only person speak English was the security , was the only person try to explain to the manager… but I say … thanks forgott about I not come back here

I absolutely loved this place! Sitting by the window, enjoying the view and people-watching while sipping on their incredible pornstar martinis was such a relaxing experience. The chicken dumplings were absolutely delicious—easily some of the best I’ve ever had! To top it off, our waitress, Iveta, was amazing. She went above and beyond to make our experience unforgettable with her friendly and attentive service. Can’t wait to come back again!

Wow the only negative is the fact that it's tight seating to get as many tables in as possible. Food and staff great toilets ok but a tad snug!

Had the vegan katsu curry. The vegan chicken and sauce were good, but it felt like my cup of rice had been standing there for too long before it was served. I nearly couldn’t pry the ball of rice open as it became so sticky, chewy, hard. It was ok. The room has very bad acoustics. Would recommend the mocktails, though.
