Chiquito in South Gloucestershire

We was seated quick unfortunately we was t told there was a hour wait .. was 20/30 minutes before we ordered them told and we was on way to the airport luck had a bit of spare time … food was nice but service shocking

we waited 1 hour and didn't receive any food and were told to wait even more time but we weren't told this until we asked. we had gotten so fed up that we decided to leave. we were never checked up on and 4 drinks were £30 but the drink options were very limited for non alcoholic people like me

where do I begin… first of all, for an authentic Mexican restaurant the burrito may as well have been Ugandan. After unveiling what I expected to be a masterpiece given the price point, it turned out to have meat and beans spewing out of every crevasse and seriously lacking some of that sweet sauce. Halloumi fries had less stretch than corrugated metal, fries were so plain it makes rocket seem spicy. We thought our knight in shining armour had arrived when we noticed they came with a sauce but was mortified when we opened the lid to reveal a substance that can only be described as other worldly. And on to the sad excuse of a churro, which had the resemblance of a raw sourdough loaf. Server was lovely and helpful nevertheless.

Unbelievable. Firstly, our starters were mixed up meaning we ate at different times...that's ok mistakes happen. However, I ordered mild chimichanga - it came and was extra hot (I have this regularly at chiquitos and this was volcanic) I sent it back as it was clearly a mistake. I was expecting an apology and a reorder for the correct main - oh no, along comes a manager who says 'you're not happy with your meal ?' I told her it was the incorrect spice and too hot, she responds 'it was mild so want do you want?' I asked if it had been tasted, she said 'I'm not tasting your food! I can't do anything about the spice, it's pre made' I was appalled, her attitude was awful. We demanded a name of the manager...she refused, my husband eventually got it. So upset by this appalling customer service.

Unfortunately rubbish baby seat meant we where left trying to feed our baby on our lap. Food was amazing. Service good.

Came on a Sunday evening, not too busy but not quiet so good atmosphere. Went to bathrooms and none of the sinks in the girls bathrooms were working (apart from a trickle of one) obviously for a restaurant is a huge health and safety issue, i did mention this but nothing was done at that time (the toilets were still in use instead of being out of order). Our waitress was good and attentive so cannot fault her. Food took a while to come out, it was good however the steak for the mains was super chewy so wouldn’t recommend that. Cocktails were amazing, overall not a bad visit just a few things that would need improving.

Waited for over an hour to get one starter and then a further 40 minutes for 2 mains. No communication that there was a wait and got the vibe the staff didn’t really wanna be there. Disappointing experience overall, I won’t be returning anytime soon.

We were unsure where to go so we thought we would come here because we’ve never been here before so we were taking a risk if we were going to like the food or not but the food was amazing quality, we both really enjoyed it! So tasty and the service was quick and the staff were friendly, we will definitely be returning!☺️

Been here a few times, wouldnt come again. Food was very expensive for small portions and was quite poor. I ordered a jackfruit chimichanga, hardly any jackfruit it was mainly rice and had no flavour other than random parts were very spicy. I ordered ‘hot’ but received ‘volcano’. One of our party had a burrito and a bit of one of the toothpicks stabbed her in the roof of her mouth. We spoke to our waitress and got that sorted. Service was okay. They did almost charge us too much

I love tacos 🌮, and they definitely delivered. Laura, my server was attentive, helpful and friendly. I definitely recommend coming in for a stop. Perfect place to go if it's your first time trying this famous Latin American cuisine. Outdoor seating available, clean and comfortable. Indoor ambience was warm and inviting.

Food was very good . Service terrible . Manager is so rude, with the fake smile on his face, service and food comes with delays around 1hour 20 min and he lied to us like they are preparing the food in a min but was not true at all , we waited a lot. Worst restaurant service ever .

As a Mexican, the chicken burrito has my approval. We don’t really put rice on burritos but it was good. Most of the options are very Tex mex really. The staff was friendly and the place looked very clean.

Terrible service, dirty toilets and subpar food! Staff were uninterested in serving us and took ages to take our orders. Waiting a while to be served could be excused if it was busy but they were no where near capacity. We waited nearly 50 minutes on food and got no apologies for the wait. My colleague went to the toilet and said it was horrendous and similar to a dirty petrol station with marks on the walls, smelly and unclean. The food we had was cooked to an inch of its life, leaving it decidedly dry. Lastly, I had to ask 3 members of staff for the bill as the first wasn’t bothered enough to give me the bill. Do not recommend!

Food was delicious and the staff were super friendly. Special thanks to Jack for this amazing experience and I totally recommend going with friends and family.

Love Chiquito Cribbs Causeway. Great food. Fabulous atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Value for money. We eat here often and it's always a very pleasant experience. Wish they still did breakfasts as they were awesome.

Good food , staff friendly and reasonably priced as well , nice atmosphere in there as well , it does get busy in there so i would suggest booking a table.

Been sat hear for two hours took one hour for starters to come mains not hear yet two hours getting a little fed up

Fab service and great food. Came in for my brothers birthday tonight, as a group of seven. Our waitress was brilliant, very friendly and often checking in about drinks (which when ordered, came within a minute). About a 25 minute weight on starters, which was completely fine and then mains were brought out promptly after being cleared. They also came out and sang for his birthday which was lovely. Would highly recommend!

Food ok, service awful. Waiting staff nice but the food took ages to arrive and we left before our dessert as it was taking too long.

We booked a table and showed the confirmation over phone. Staff said they could not see in their system and decided to turn us back . When I said, it's not our fault and system fault , She then gave a table as a favour close to the door that opens all the time and was cold. She carried no apologies. This put my mind off. So, giving only 1. I will add one because there was another staff who guided later to a better table. Funny part was , there were several tables free. Would have walked away if I had not come with children. Food is bit expensive, that's ok. Wait tim w was not as bad as usual.. This is my last time to any chiquito because of one staff.

Lazy staff, poor management...the chefs are moving as snails, the waiters even slower...it is pity as is a nice place. We have tried to have lunch, but left after we have waited 45 minutes just for starters. Good luck!!!! I had to edit my review. Dear manager, for at least one year your customers are complaining about waiting time. WHAT ARE YOU DOING THERE?????

Food took 30 minutes to arrive and the portion size is not right for price you pay, plus one dish was cold

Can't express how bad the service is here Arrived at 19.15 Ordered food and drinks at 19.30 Drinks took that long, the manager asked if we had ordered yet Finally got our drinks and starters came soon after. My wife raised concerns over the wait time for our mains at 8.35 with the server and we are still waiting. No drinks. No food. Asked again at 8.45, was told at 8.50 we would have our food in 5 mins. The place is empty and other customers that arrived after us have ate and left. We're now left with no drinks. No food, no response from complaints except for promises of our food in 5 mins and we would be looked after about the bill. I then went to the bar myself to get 2 glasses of water. 15mins later we saw our waitress with her coat on !!!! We left and went to burger king where we were served with respect and courtesy We are shocked by the lack of customer care and would NOT ever recommend this establishment to anyone! You will see in my picture, the amount of people in the restaurant and we still couldn't get served.

Horrible experience!! Waited for 1.5 hours for our food to arrive , kids got really restless and lost the appetite to eat anything after so much of wait . The place was quiet and not busy as well . AVOID this place if you are in a hurry .

Food was ok,chicken overcooked but the starter very nice. Service must be improved but Holly ( maybe Molly)is a nice girl and with more experience she will be more efficient but she did her best. Managers not really helpful witb the staff though.

Chimichanga NO!!! Don’t do it!! AWFUL customer service which is clearly led from the management down. Went here yesterday with my girlfriend and we ordered the same dish as each other… not a complicated order (just 2 chimichangas and no sides). After a long 45 minute wait (not a busy restaurant at this point) asked the waitress called Laura and she investigated. I watched her talk to her supervisor/manager (blonde haired lady) and then they both went to the open kitchen to check on where the order had gone and clearly the order hadn’t processed properly or was forgotten about. We unfortunately decided that we couldn’t wait any longer because we’d miss our film. There was no real sense of an apology and we were still charged £7.20 for our two Sprites which were the only things served to us in an hour. Both myself and my girlfriend have worked in hospitality before and couldn’t believe that after they had clearly made a mistake they had such a ‘what will be will be’ attitude and no sense of customer care. In this case if I were in their shoes I would have taken off the drinks and apologised for wasting out time. Accidents and mistakes can happen but it matters how you deal with it! Little advice to the Chimichanga chain… customer service really matters and you should relay back to your employees not to be dismissive of customers and made to feel valued as mere cash dispensers… such a waste of time and money coming here!!

We called to get a table on a Saturday night. It was very full but managed to get seated within the hour. Service was quite slow but we saw about 15 deliveroo drivers come in and out. The kitchen staff really impressed me and they deserve all the praise for handling so many orders and a full restaurant.

As much as I love Chiquito but this one is The worst Chiquito I ever been in, the amount of waiting I had to take before getting seated and till served and then get my food is just unbelievably ridiculous!

Good food. Poor service. Appears short staffed but still charge the service charge and constantly have to flag down waitress for further drinks, desert and even the bill!

Empty restaurant, we have been told we won’t be served. Managed to place order for take away and been waiting ages for it. 7 servers chatting on bar. Haven’t seen that many lazy people in ages.

Reserved a table, but it took 1 & 1/2 hours for food to come. Some orders were then completely wrong, which they did replace some items taking more time. Then on the final bill we were charged for the incorrect orders in the gizz of a "build your own" plate. All this time priority was obviously being given to uber eats and deliveroo orders, and smalled party seated guests. 2 couples whom had not booked and came in after us were served and left before we even recieved our mains, basicly orders for 1 or 2 persons were prioritised over groups, and 2 waitresses, who dont know how to use the ordering system, is not enough for the whole restaurant, Very very bad service.!!!!!

A terrible experience from start to end! Had to send my stater back twice as the tortilla chips were soft and bendy! They got one of the main courses completely wrong! An awful restaurant! DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!

Over 2 hours just for food, not recommended.

Lovely place with amazing food. Service was great, we mentioned that we are vegan and got given a vegan menu, well catered for. Food was really nice with decent sized portions. It was quite slow for only having a couple of customers in at the time, but thats probably the only negative that we experienced.

Long wait for very poor quality food, me and my partner had the Texas burger and it's repeated on both of us, you get a better customer service and food at KFC for a 3rd of the price

10/10 - great meal, fast and friendly service and lovely food. Wed booked a table of 6 (5 adults and one baby in a pram) online and noted we needed space for the pram - when we arrived we had a booth table so couldnt put the pram in without blocking access, the staff apologised as they had a new booking system so didnt see the request, but they very quickly sorted the issue by moving us to a different table and were very friendly about it. We went on friday night and service was good (3 courses in under 2 hours) overall would definitely reccomend- 10/10

It was definitely better before pandemic. Quality of serving dishes went down and choice of Mexican food is not so great anymore. Not sure if will come back

Extremely disappointing. The staff at this site choose when they shut! Twice we have been there at 9.20pm to be told they are closed when the door says 10pm! All other restaurants here serve until 10pm like it says on the door! They are extremely rude and I’m sure whom ever owns it would not be happy

Me and my family booked at table for dinner and we had amazing experience. We have welcomed on the door by lovely lady, she was very polite and friendly. Food is delicious and the cocktails the best! Everyone was friendly and with big smiles! We definitely will come back again.

The only disappointment was the service. Plenty of mistakes made, such as forgotten food and wrong drinks being served. The waiter wasn’t very approachable or interactive and did not seem interested in delivering a good service. It wasn’t busy either, only three tables full. Shame for my brothers birthday meal. However, the food was amazing!

Let me start by saying that I absolutely love Chiquitos! I met my wife there and we have enjoyed coming back many times together, we love the food and atmosphere. But I can only give 3 stars because both restaurants that were in South Wales have closed and now we have to travel to another country with an hours journey if we want to visit one now. We would very much like to see another restaurant opened in South Wales but we are sad that the restaurant where we met and shared so many memories together is now gone.

From start to finish was awful 😢 when we went in the couldn’t find our booking but still sat us . We ordered starters , drinks and mains . 1 hour later we still hadn’t had our drinks or the starter my mums fiancé is also diabetic so really needed his food . After a hour waiting we asked where are food was about 20 minutes after we asked the starter and drinks came and the starter was cold the worst nachos I’ve ever ate to be honest . They even got one of the drinks wrong . About half an hour later they brought are mains over the chicken was rock hard on 2 of the mains and on the other mains which was a nacho burger there was only one nacho in it and my mums main which was a bean dish there was only about one bean ! They told us they had trainee chefs so they were slow and struggling but that couldn’t of been very true as the table that were next to us that came in very much after us got their drinks , starters and mains before we even got our starters.On top of all of that my sister found a hair in her food and when they lady brought it over just said “ sorry the bun fall off “ Will definitely not be coming back after this awful place.

We had a great experience at Cribbs Causeway Chiquito’s. We had a fantastic 3 course meal from their lunch menu for great value. I had the nachos which were covered with toppings, the chicken enchiladas in hot sauce and the golden nugget cheesecake. All arrived nice and fast and were all delicious. The staff, especially Alex, were friendly and very helpful. Coming over to us multiple times (without being annoying) asking if everything was ok, asking if we wanted more drinks etc. Would highly recommend!

You order they cook but it's the longest waiting period. If you have kids, it's best you feed them first they go out with them for dinner. The tea pots were dusty even the person that brought them out didn't care to clean them before bringing them out. Although the manager was very nice and apologised for the delay in service, the food was not upto standard for the price we paid

Our food was full of fresh vibrant flavours. Service was excellent and we were given some extra yummy desert to finish off our meal to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary.

Excellent customer service. Excellent food. One star dropped for time taken to receive food. A new chef had started and was taking a little longer than desired to get the food out. The staff were very apologetic gave us some complimentary drinks and deducted our starters from our bill. We didn't even complain to instigate this they recognised the time taken without any prompt and just sorted it all out. To me, that's really good customer service. Despite the delays, I still left a nice tip because it was well deserved by the front of house team. Things can't be perfect all the time, it's just the way of the world. It's no big deal :-) When eating out the most important part of the experience for me is the customer service and this is where they absolutely excelled. Well done. Would definitely return.

Basing my review off of coming here for years now as well as tonight, food is always fantastic, staff are always sooo helpful and friendly. We came tonight 29/01/22 and had to wait a long time for our booked table and have been waiting very long for food, this isn’t an issue for us as we aren’t in a rush but the reason I am saying it is because the poor staff were rushed off their feet, they are clearly short staffed and need support, the hostess was dealing with so many idiot customers wanting a table and she did amazing under the circumstances, yes we are eagerly awaiting our food but I will not complain about something that isn’t any fault of the over worked staff, will always return here, the staff need more support or a raise!!

Food nice but struggling with staffing - slow service both in restaurant and via delivery, often guests wait at the door for long periods of time.

It wasn’t a really pleasing experience. On arrival we got told that almost half the menu wasn’t available. Not great but we knew beforehand (except we only got told and didn’t get a note to remember). Ordered 2 drinks and 2 mains. Took about 50min to finally get the mains. The cherry on the cake was when asking for the bill, you receive a customer survey machine… not a paying facility. You need to wait again to pay. Whoever thought this was a good idea needs to be fired. I pay for a service, not to give you a service (my customer review)

We tried the fajitas. We were delighted with the plates. The food was very good! A nice experience to repeat in the future! Recommended for families!

I visited your restaurant on 31/12 and was served by a female waiter with black short hair, slightly shaved head on one side. I would like to say how thankful I am for your amazing service. I unfortunately came over very ill and had to leave the restaurant before our meals came out. Thankyou for being so understanding in this situation!

VERY SLOW SERVICE , got seated and waited 20 mins to even ask our order, got drinks 30 mins later waited 30 mins more for 2 starters which one got sent back cold waited a futher 20 mins for that to arrive, cancelled our mains and left, restaurant full of unhappy customers. Really did love going to all different chiquitos but this will be the last time, all branches seem to be the same now, when there's so much competition u think they would up their game not give up.

Waited 20 minutes when we sat down before someone came to ask us what we wanted to eat and then asked if we want drinks. We wait half an hour for 2 cokes! We then waited another half an hour for 2 starters. 1 of which came out stone cold and the other was room temp. Waited a further 15 minutes for 1 the stone cold starter to be replaced with a fresh one at which point we just asked for the mains to be put through. We were then sat there for another 35 to 40 minutes and still no mains. The table next to us were sat with dirty plates after finishing for 20 minutes trying to get the bill. Finally another server noticed and got our server to get them the bill, and then walked away! They were still sat that a further 15 minutes waiting to pay by card when me and my girlfriend gave up waiting and I asked our mains to be cancelled. My girlfriend in the mean time was talking to the other table and they said they were even charged for stuff they haven't ordered, and joked they might be able to pay by next week. We used to love Chaquito's. But you can honestly see why the chain is going under. 3rd bad experience on the bounce. Time to call it quits.

Slow service, took half hour for some water and a coffee. Half the menu not in stock. Staff were pleasant.

Give it this place a miss if you want fast service. Understaffed and can't function well at busy periods. We was here around 2 hours and only got starters and mains. Decided to miss out desert which we never do as got fed up with waiting. Our starter was lovely, we shared a bowl of nachos which we really enjoyed, this did come out quickly. Felt the bowl was smaller than normal but otherwise okay. For our mains we had to wait around 40 minutes. We both ordered fajitas, mine being bbq pork and chicken, these came with only 3 fajita wraps, which wasn't enough. I couldn't ask to order more due to no service check, or let the restaurant know my partners fajita order was incorrect and was missing her spicy sauce. We did try to grab a server, but this was hard due to them not being around our table section often. In a short, we had wrong food come out, poor service at our table and long weights.

From the start struggled to order food as multiple items on the menu not available! We ordered drinks before our meal, which eventually arrived after our meals were finished, had to chase for them! We asked for sauces which they struggled to provide as they had ran out of small serving pots. The food was average and the prices have sky rocketed since our last visit. Will not be coming again for a long time service ruined our Birthday celebration.

Lovely food and drinks at a great price. The reason for three stars was due to the wait as it took almost 2 hours to be served 2 drinks and 2 mains. The staff were very good at apologising for the wait but as it was very quite in the restaurant could not understand why it took so long. Would recommend for the food but ensure you give yourself plenty of time to be there.

Bit slow service last night as appeared to be short staffed. Staff however were lovely, particularly our server Caldwell. Food, as always, fresh, well-cooked, and tasty.

Excellent food, service was sublime, couldn’t ask for a nicer lunch. Would 100% go again, if does the best Mexican food around!

We came in as a table of two with a baby. We were seated pretty much right away but told our waiter that we were on a strict time limit so would it be possible to have our starters and mains out at once? to which we were told yes (we only had two hours). Skip forward an hour and a half and only our starters had been brought and it took an hour for our drinks to arrive; all the while we watched the family next to us receive and eat ALL THREE of their courses whilst being regularly asked if they were happy with their meal- by our waiter! We had to go by the time the main arrived two hours later- it was luke warm, not cooked how we asked (rare and medium rare steaks) and the salad that came with it was warm- clearly someone had left it under a heat light for ages. What we don’t understand is why? When we SPECIFICALLY stated that we were on a time limit. And the place was practically empty. The only saving grace was the manager who, waived the cost of our singular drinks and starters and gave us a 50% off voucher for next time but, as you can imagine, we probably won’t ever go back. What’s insane is we had chosen this place as we had visited Las iguanas the week before and they had forgotten to serve us so we thought that these guys would do better! What are the chances that two restaurants on the same strip would be as equally incompetent as each other?!

The lanterns directly above the customers dining table are dusty. We ordered kid mean, but it doesn’t come with desert and drink which are included. We had to ask two separate times to have them for kid. Waiter and waitress are friendly and food are OK. So 2 stars.

We booked for 11 family members this evening. The staff and waiting staff in particular, were really accommodating and went beyond to put right what could have been a disastrous evening. When the food arrived, most dishes were perfect (especially my gluten free choices). Some of the dishes were cold and had to be sent back. But, they were massively understaffed with deliveroo and just eat orders taking priority over diners, hence the food delay. Inspite of all this, the staff were lovely, the menu amazing and yes, we will return.

Fair selection of food and drinks including mocktails for those who don't drink alcohol. Food and drinks taste fantastic, I particularly recommend the onion rings as your side if you're partial to them If you like your food hotter in terms of spice, then try the hottest option available as the "Hot" variation they offer is rather tame, take it from someone who eats a lot of hot food The service was a little slow and waiting for the bill was quite slow, but overall a wonderful experience with nice and approachable staff

Outstanding customer service. Warm welcome from our server. Sat outside and when rain came, venue refused to charge for coffees and gave them gratis. Pleasant surprise to encounter such positive, friendly service.

Just visited for a drink. Shown a table. Given a drink menu Waited 15 mins . Only to be asked by a girl behind the what are you waiting for. The girl who showed us to our table ect. Was stood at the end of the bar chatting. Disgusting. We never got any service. So walked out. Dont bother even using this place

Just wanted to say a massive thank you to Eva for absolutely fantastic service tonight. The food and drinks were amazing too, particularly the coconut margarita (or all of them!), but it was lovely to be served by someone with such a sunny disposition who made us feel like nothing was too much trouble! I had my first visit here to dine in and I would never visit again. The staff were rude and unhelpful and made me feel like I shouldn't be dining there as i had food intolerances. She didn't want to help at all, tried to rush me into making an order, even though I tried to explain that I couldn't have certain food, then when I made the decision, (through a lot of pressure from her) she was negative about my choice of food. The service was slow and I was disgusted how I was treated. I felt so small and not welcomed at all. I didn't want to eat my meal and it ruined my whole evening. Will NEVER visit again. Disgraceful!!! Food wasn't even that nice and worth the money.
