Chipmunk Fish and Chip Shop in Isle of Wight

Brilliant food, staff are always lovely friendly and very helpful, been going her years love the place.

The food was nice (not the best chip shop food I have ever had, but it was still good), the staff are very friendly and table service was offered, the environment felt very dated, a bit like something from a greasy spoon in the 1980’s! It was very much like taking a step back in time.

I came here on personal recommendation from a friend and was mightily impressed with the whole experience. Cleanliness and friendliness high on the agenda and the best fish and chips I’ve had in a long time . Light fresh batter beautifully cooked and home style chips , amazing ! Also great value! Will definitely be coming back

Chips looked warmed up curry sauce was like water with lumps chicken burger was vile my fish cake looked like it had been sat on pot of tea was like dish water and cups was soapy

Although the fish was tasty, it was also very small I've had fish almost twice the size in other local fish and chip shops Ok for a kids portion , but doesn't fill you up

First impression is very clean, sat at a table and we were approached straight away. “Do you know what you want or should I give you a few minutes?” We asked for a minute or two. The menu is exactly what a chippy should be basic and very reasonable. We gave our order and the drinks arrived within three minutes, the fish was ordered and cooked fresh within our view and hearing. Within 10 minutes our meals were presented hot and very crispy, the fish is battered very lightly so no greasy stodge. The chips are fresh and crispy with no oil or grease on the plate. The waitress had made a slight mistake on our bill but this was soon rectified with no questions. Drinks and food for 2 cost £12.30, very reasonable. The chairs and tables are fixed to the floor so it can be a tight fit for some. All in all 95/100.

Used to be a decent chippy but gone down hill massively. The staff are seen watering down the curry, peas and gravy. Very understaffed, I pity the girls who work their, the manages/owners appear to do little bar shout orders. Fish tasted funny and chips under cooked

Their reputation from previous reviews was spot on. The chips and fish were the tastiest i have had for a while. The food was hot, clean and fat free (grease on the plate) You did not have to wait long for the meal and the staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the seats were uncomfortable but it wont stop me going again

Visited for lunch. The fish, chips and mushy peas were fantastic. Friendly efficient service. Spotlessly clean restaurant. Definitely the best traditional fish and chip shop.

This chip and fish shop is out of this world very good food you get from this chippy and you get served staight away you can sit down in this chippy I've been loads of times the food is very good and it's vert clean and the staff are very friendly with you and it's reasonable price in the chippy for food

The chipmunk is the most amazing places for fish and chips EVER! It has the biggest and bested reputation all around the north west! It totally lives up to the hype, I've never had fish and chips as nice as here!!

Eat here quite regular on a Saturday on my way home.you can sit in but I take away. The food is always the same good standard

Go here often fish chips peas bread and butter tea always good very busy at lunch but worth the wait never disapointed

the chipmunk is a firm favourite for most people in st helens, its proper chippy grub and its always top notch!

Only negative thing I could say is the fish could be a bit bigger chips are lovely got 3 lots of fish & chips all 3 fish was tiny

This is bar far the best chipy in town and always gets full. The standard of food is great and fresh all the time. All the cipmunks are of the same standard a good brand.

Good Fish N chip shop, there is a small chain around St Helens built up over many many years, lots of people eat from them as the food is always good. TIP if a chippy has a long queue then it must be good!

The best fish chips and peas shop for miles around.very friendly staff good fish chips and peas comfy seating sometimes you have to wait for a seat its so good.

This is not a place for good food, the food was over cooked and the staff were surley and to busy to bother with customers will not visit again
