I ordered a meal that was grossly overpriced - the mussels were as hard as bullets - the toughness and consistency was as though they had been recooked several times. The chips looked as though they had been reheated several times and completely dehydrated. The only redeeming part was the won ton soup. For £49 for what we had, it’s grossly over priced and if me and my 96 yr old mother end up with being ill from this food - I have kept the mussels for testing just in case… as it was that bad. The mussels in the picture are what we couldn’t eat - they look ok in the image but trust me they were like leather.

Frozen food.....who knows when it was cooked, defrosting meat in water in the sink. Vile disgusting food should be ashamed of themselves

I ordered my food over an hour ago and still it's not turned up what a joke they are . Not even answering the phones how they keep open is beyond me

Ordered via Just Eat. Food arrived quickly but it was awful. Beef was ' mushy' in ginger and spring onion. Had a spicy chow mein which was oily and inedible. Binned it.

One dish out of three was edible, payed good money for rubbish, couldn't get through to complain on the night 01/07/2023, avoid this Chinese

The WORST Chinese we’ve ever had, chips like they’d been cooked for 10 hours, everything Dry, chicken wings look inedible. Overall Disgusting I’m afraid

Very friendly staff and a really fast service. Not our usual takeaway for Chinese food, but we were all very impressed with the whole service (service, quality, quantity and taste).

First time of ordering I had the worse tasting beef chow mein ever. Tasted of just oil no sause🥺 but the sweet and sour chicken and egg fried rice was nice 👍

By far the best chinese I have had in the UK. It's named 'See Lee' on Uber Eats. Everything from taste to quality of ingredients is amazing. Stongly recommend the Singapore fried vermicelli, wonton soup and special chow mein.

Sad to see and say that after using China star for years today's food was very bad. My house special chow mein had 3 mini shrimps in it the taste was overwhelming from soya sauce and the portions get really small my extra portion fried noodles with beansprouts had no beansprouts. The prawn crackers are very old and soft. The spareribs get more and more bone and less meat. Next time you have to order 5 portions to get a proper meal. This is very bad for the good reputation you had.

Just had a takeaway from the China star and it was really lovely. Salt chilli chicken to start, egg fried rice peking chicken and spicy garlic chicken all were fab thank you

Very very tasty big portions much larger than many other takeaways especially canton kitchen which is rubbish vigour containers were stuffed to Byron with large chunks tasty chicken. However the chips were dry

Worst food ever, ordered salt and pepper chips, salt and pepper chicken and King prawn chown mein. The chips tasted as though they had been in an oven for hours, the chicken was dry and tastless, the king prawn chow mein was actually OK. But the rest went in the bin. And the best bit was it took nearly 2 and a half hours to arrive

Very nice good portions and very tasty

This has to be by far the worst Chinese I have ever (not) eaten. Ordered munch box and pork chow mein. What a joke £27 worth of food to be binned. The munch box looked and tasted like it was the scraps from the day. The chow mein if you could even call it that, was just sloppy, soogy noodles that looked like it had been made by a 2 year old. Then on top of that charging £2.50 for a tub of curry sauce is extortionate. Never ever again would I order from here. Don't waste your money!!

Disgusting, looked old and not fresh. After reading the other reviews I thought I'd give them a chance - that was a mistake. I tasted a little bit and binned the entire order.

Food was lovely, full of flavour and the portions were decent! Also the wait wasn't very long either. Would definitely order from them again in the future.

Ordered food at 17.20 chased it up at 20.20 and they tried to deny they had the order although paid for online, they then said found the order and would try and deliver later. Terrible service

I never post 1 star reviews... I never believe 1 start reviews... Believe this...Joke of a business... if you take anything from Google Reviews (I assume that's why your here) chose the next takeaway. Please, please chose the next takeaway.... ABOSOULTE DISGRACE. You have been warned.

1st class food ..friendly service

Ordered £50 worth of food to find a wall tack in the beef chow main which cut my sisters mouth bearing in mind there are 3 young children also eating this food! When we rang to explain what happened and to ask for a refund the lady told us she didn't care and wasn't refunding us the money as it was impossible. We kept explaining that it wasn't acceptable because its a sharp object in the food and they decided to be very rude and cut the phone off to us.

We've always loved China Star Bridgwater because in the past it's offered great value and excellent food. It still has excellent food but they are now charging 3 x Pounds for delivery, so one main meal plus one rice was over 16 Pounds, which I thought expensive. May have to check out the competition!

Disappointed, we have had takeaways from here before and no problem, last night 4 out of 5 dishes were the wrong ones, I suspect the have mixed up two orders. The food was bland and tasteless. I will avoid in the future .

Delivered wrong food. When I rang up he insisted right food had been sent until I got the receipt up they had emailed and read it back to him then he still tried to say I'd not ordered what I had said, eventually he said sorry but no offer of the food I had ordered or a refund. Definitely will not be going back

really good food its a great take away for the chinese food but is a bit off putting having the owners children in the foyer where people wait but otherwise its great

Once a month or so we have a Chinese, and for years we were stuck in the routine of same order from same takeaway. But we chose to try others over a year or so, one of which was China Star, we 1st ordered via their app which was a bonus. The food we ordered arrived quickly, hot and plentiful. We had a variety of beef and chicken dishes and could not fault any of them, actually several orders and plenty of meals later we cant pick a particular favourite, similarly we dont have a least fave, making our debate on what to have each time more difficult. We have carried on trying a few of the other local Chinese Takeaways, none of which stood out, none were poor either, but it is testament to China Star that we see it as our 'Go-To' for our Chinese of choice. Keep up the good work.

Over priced and not very nice, not worth a second visit

Food was awful and delivery was over 30 minutes late. Happens 6 months ago and believed service was better clearly not. Avoid

Love it. Great value for money, big portions and all dishes are nicely different with loads of variety. The duck with pancakes is always worth being added on. Ordered via their own app (easy to find on the App Store). Really clear how long it would take, only 25 minutes to collect and they gave us a call to say it was ready sooner. Delivery was 20 mins extra and good to see it was nice and clear what was going on. Also got a nice little discount for using the app- no brainier not to use it. Starters, half a duck, main each and a side came under £100 for 6 of us which was pretty fair and way too much food. Set meals also look good if not sure what you fancy. Food keeps really well for reheating any leftovers. Always a winner!

Ordered the mixed meat special. It was nice and a good portion but not terribly spicy. The special fried rice with mushroom was nice and again a good portion. Friendly lady taking the order and not a long wait. Chairs are grubby and not sure about mother and children sitting in part of the room paying games on tablets or mobiles! Decor in need of improvement. Reasonably priced.

Best food in the area, shame it is'nt open lunch times

I ordered takeaway through the just eat app at 7:10 pm.. the order said it would be delivered by 8:20 (which seemed excessive) but I’m used to that on a Saturday night. By 8:30 it still hadn’t arrived so I rang the takeaway, as I had plans to visit friends for the evening and it was getting late.When they answered, they said sorry but they were only just cooking the food and it would be another 20mins wait!! Obviously I was unhappy about this and cancelled the order. The woman on phone was rude at this point. I was both hungry and disappointed at the level of service or lack of that this takeaway offered and won’t be recommending to anyone. I then had to ring Just eat to get refund of monies.

Ordered a meal , but when I got home the rice was dry. Not the best I've had but there was a fair amount of meat in it, and not too salty.

We have been ordering from China Star for years and have never had a problem. The delivery drivers are very polite and the food is great with generous portions. Would recommend.

Every meal was like water ! No flavor in any dish we had , could of made a better chow mein at home . Food was swimming in water . Disappointed! Thought we would give another try after had a bad meal about a year ago ... even more disappointed this time .

The food was disgusting, never going back again... waste of bloody money as didn’t even eat the meal and have been up all night throwing up!! Currently 5:40am and I still haven’t even been asleep yet! How they think it’s acceptable to eat food like it is beyond me!!! I’d give 0 rating if I could, don’t even deserve 1!

We always have a Chinese from the same place and have done so for years but we fancied a home delivery which our usual place doesn’t do so we tried China Star and we weren’t disappointed. We need to get used to their menu and the cooking style but we will go for it again. Delivery was early and the lad very polite.

3 of us got food poising the day after. It was horrendous ! If I could give Zero stars I would ! Never eat here !

Nos aconsejaron a comer desde aquí cuando mencioné a alguien nos lo estábamos pasando la Nochevieja. china No había probado comida para llevar para edades, así que decidimos tener un regalo. Nos hubiera comido. Desde aquí antes, pero fuimos de todos modos como la mujer que dijo ir era realmente alabando el lugar. Realmente me hubiese gustado no haber molestado era insípida y sin sabor tibia, uno de los platos era naranja brillante y estoy hablando naranja brillante, forma demasiado vinagre en uno de los platos y cada plato era tibia y aguada. . . especial para 2 así que fue a menos de £30 demasiado caro para lo que recibimos no es el dinero que se llegó a ese es el problema, pero cuando pagas una buena cantidad de dinero usted debe conseguir una buena comida. No volveré y volveré a nuestro habitual llevar a partir de ahora.

Badly cooked food and the sauce taste of washing up liquid. I wish I spent my money elsewhere.

Limón pollo, cerdo asado pedimos parrilla y cerdo arroz frito y estaba delicioso. El limón pollo es obligada, 2 piezas de mama en un recubrimiento de pasta en salsa de limón y bien presentado. . Buenas porciones de tamaño y rápida recogida de llamada, de 15 minutos.

We use this venue for all of our chinese takeaway nights. Home delivery service efficency. Food always well cooked, very good value and authentic.

We have tried a number of Chinese take aways but China star is by far the best in my opinion, always deliver promptly and never skimp on portions, the ribs are meaty and the mussels are huge, worth a try 😀

Not as cost effective as the Indian, but great Chinese food with very fast delivery. Excellent chicken curry, pancake rolls. Recommended.

We ordered when we received a menu through our door. The order arrived within 45 mins even though we live 7 miles away. The food was lovely and hot and was one of the best Chinese we have had.

ordered 1 of their takeaways on a saturday night. the place was empty but the phone was ringing off the hook ( or should i say PHONES) the food here used 2 be superb but the food we had was alright, all dishes tasted the same. some were very bland. we dont think we'll be trying here again. the day after we both had the runs. if that does that to us then it dosent bode well for the rest of you......beware!it's good but it's not right

Had a takeaway earlier this week. Everything was ok. Nothing stood out as being exceptional but was all perfectly edible and tasty. They also offer delivery at £3.50 for where I am staying (5 miles away) which I thought was fair and will probably use next time.Parking in the area is a bit of a nightmare and you end up on double yellow lines (along with numerous other cars).

Had a takeaway delivered from this restaurant for a family get together ...... A wide variety of dishes to choose from ..... Came with free prawn crackers and delivered promptly
