China Palace in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

I use this place roughly once a month when we come down to visit my mother who lives in St Agnes village. Going by the majority of the reviews I must just be lucky when I visit, as my food has always been alright, and I’ve been using it for year. It is expensive compared to Wales , but I think that’s because there are so few takeaways in the village, that they can pretty much get away with the prices We only ever order salt and pepper ribs , which tbh are pretty hard to mess up,and the house special fried rice which they make gluten free by leaving out the soy sauce etc, I think I’ve only had one bad meal there and that was ages ago .

we're only staying in the area and gave poor delivery instructions, as well as an outdated telephone number (now fixed). China Palace were brilliant, and made a couple of attempts to find us. Once arrived, the food was delicious, warm and left us with full bellies. If we're ever in the area again, we'll definitely be ordering 😊

Just had a takeaway delivered to st Agnes holiday park. Superb. Right up there with one of the best Chinese meals I’ve had. If you like your curry sauce, you’re in for a treat. Don’t hesitate to to order from here.

Read some of the 1 star reviews and was apprehensive, but ordered anyway. There was a delay in getting our order (just over an hour) but the staff were very apologetic, and despite the wait it still arrived hot and crispy. Very tasty, would recommend.

We have ordered for collection a few times and haven’t been disappointed! Generally quick, hot and flavoursome everytime

Special chow mein was ok but lack noodles to which I'm ust to and only one king prawn which was disappointing apart from that we had spicy ribs was not bad spicy chicken wass not bad spicy king prawns especially I really enjoyed ,I'd order again fast delivery nice polite driver spitfire park camping

We ordered from here whilst on holiday at haven, we chose this place as they had a 5 star food rating. really impressed with the service and food was great, they even delivered straight to our accommodation front door, highly recommended thank you.

Have been there for take away. Food was prepared very fast. It was tasty and delicious and new staff was kind. I recommend it.

quite concerning it takes such a painfully long time to deliver food that is a 10 minute car journey away.

Slightly expensive but nice food

We’d read so many bad reviews so we’re very hesitant in ordering. But we’ve recently ordered TWO LARGE takeaways and we can honestly say we couldn’t fault it! Both really hot on collection, generous portions and the prices around average for what you’d usually pay for a takeaway!

GAVE A 2ND CHANCE, BIG MISTAKE!! So we gave this another try, as locals!! Doesn't help we have so few takeaways locally, but seriously should we accept such poor food. Satay sauce was mega sweet. I'm sure for those eating meat/fish dishes this would have been acceptable, but the sauce was totally overpowering, massively sweet and unpalatable. Sauce ruined everything. Honestly, order food from Redruth - rather than accept paying £40+ for sub standard food. Just trying to advise holiday makers if they have any serious expectations. Ps. Complained to China Palace and was told they'd refund the sauces. Informed them to keep refund but I'd be posting a bad review. Rather be honest.

Used this takeaway (not a restaurant) while on holiday. I ordered six items from the menu and only got five. One of the five I did get was wrong. The four dishes that were correct were very tasty. So give it try, but check your food before you drive away.

Really lovely food and speedy delivery. Unfortunately, one item was missing from our order but the fact the portions of other food was huge meant it didn’t matter. Would order again from here.

If I could give zero I would, waiting in here for an order we placed 1930, asked for 2015 but still waiting at 20:45, if you’d like to eat, go elsewhere.

ive ordered a few times now and delivery has got worse, told 45-60 min. delivery took 2 hours. if its going to be 2 hours say that, then i could have ordered else where. ive had bits missed off in the past, when i said about on next order. they didnt seam to be that bothered. if this continues then i will not be using.

Thank you! We all really enjoyed our meal whilst on holiday. My children had sweet and sour chicken and it was generous and fresh chicken.I had the beef chow mein, which was delicious and fresh steak used. Thank you. Due to safety Covid health precautions which are good, it was take away only so I’m not rating atmosphere.

It’s a shame as we have eaten here before and it was great but this time All of our food tasted fishy so assume it wasn’t fresh and been sat somewhere for a while .

It states every where. Restaurant & takeaway its not a restaurant. The restaurant was dirty &!unkept with used disposable eating bowls just left on the table. The entrance is kept lock with a full height plastic door/ screen. Obviously left over from COVID days. The member of chinese staff just ignored me and a European member of staff came to serve me. Id just arrived. He was far from polite and I explained i didnt know what I want to order as i had not had chance to look at menu. When he returned. And asked for my order. I requested due to a disablity/ bad back and in pain would it be possible to sit while my order was processed I got a rude NO with no explanation. I wasnt even offer a chair out side the restaurant area. So they left me no option but not to order and leave. The gentleman whonwas there when I arrived also left due to staff rudeness Very poor service and consideration to some one with disabilities . .

It states its a restaurant & take away. Its NOT. its just a take away the restaurant area is messy and used food containers just left on the table. I have problem with my back. The staff member who came to the plastic LOCKED partition wasnt very polite but did offer me more time to look at menu. Came back. Due to a back problem and being In a lot of pain I asked could i sit down while they prepared my order to which the reply was just NO. SO i didnt order as pain was too much to stand for 20 mins.

Awful. Chow mein flavourless and dry as a bone. Mixed platter for 2, all dry, over cooked and tastless. Crispy beef in honey and seasame, beef was so overcooked in could barely be snapped let alone eaten. Sauce was nice but i can mix honey and seasame oil at home. Curry sauce was just spicy gravy im sure, iv never tasted such a curryless curry saice. Only think that was somewhat alright was the salt and pepper chips.

Given stories about internal employment issues which are not my problem. Food late. Toddler grumpy and late for bed. Meant to be a treat not a f kin chore. restaurant marked as delivered i guess. Bunch of c u № ÷ s over 2 and 1/2 hrs to deliver. And hung up on. Still no food.

Order still not arrived , over 1 hour late. The restaurant have informed just eat that it has been delivered on time, I expect to protect their reputation. After speaking to the restaurant multiple times , it’s always just around the corner!

Almost an hour late for food even though it was pre ordered for delivery to be 5:15 the day before. Plenty of time to prepare, I understand it's Christmas eve but even after ringing and saying he was on his way, it still took over 20 minutes for it to be delivered after that phone call! This is a joke, it's not like I live far!

Delivery was good and intimate but food was all stone cold apart from the curry sauce not worth the £54 in my opinion

Probably the worst Chinese I have had. I had the house curry and the pork and the beef where inedible they were so tuff you couldn't eat it. Only one prawn and I have never had chicken with that texture. Burnt rice. Most restaurants dont charge for prawn crackers but be prepared to pay £4.40 for old stale crackers. Avoid if you want value for money and not reheated crap.

The whole process from ordering to delivery was first class.The food tasted excellent,first class,and large portions as well,neither my wife or myself could eat it all.Delivery was fist class as well.Highly recommend and would certainly use again.The food was really tasty .If you enjoy Chinese food then this is a must .

Delivery was 40 minutes late & only 1 item from a £125 order was delivered & cold, we then waited another 20mins for the rest of our order that arrived cold and another item missing, the final item arrived 1 hour 45 minutes after our order time and the only warm that was delivered. Would never order from here again.

Me and my family put in a big order, order was confirmed by the shop and got given a time of delivery. 45 minutes past the delivery time so we drove to the shop to find out they had not even made the food. Would give less than 1 star if i could as we were left waiting about for hours. Would not recommend

Stayed in St Agnes for a week and at the end of our stay we really fancied a Chinese takeaway. Didn’t think to check the reviews before ordering from here. I collected the food and the only real positive was that it was hot. The three main dishes we ordered weren’t up to much and one was particularly poor. The crispy beef was just soggy and tasted like it had been deep-fried alongside some seafood or something. Other positive was prawn crackers were included. Unfortunately I would not likely order from there again.

Gone down hill rapidly. Used to be decent food. Not anymore! Couldn’t eat the beef as it was so dry I couldn’t swallow it. Hardly any sauce. Even the rice was tough and hard to swallow. 2 prawns in the entire special fried rice. Most of it went in the bin and cooked another meal

Highly recommended, delivery was on time, food was piping hot and absolutely delicious. Even better we were on a camp site and the delivery driver called to say she had arrived. Couldn't be more pleased

Had Chicken & Duck on Fried Rice with BBQ Sauce, but it had no flavour at all. 3 stars and not lower, only because portion size was okay and the staff were friendly and kind.

What kind of madman but pineapple in satay curry? I have had satay all over the world and this was not satay, I was refused my money back. Worst chines I've ever had, my kid had bbq chicken, was nothing like bbq and my boy had a tummy ache for 3 days after. I would rather starve than eat here again.

Not enough peas. But everything else was great. Thanks. They had to do a spring roll on the bake off, did you see that? There was no bubbles on your spring rolls so that's how I know they are good spring rolls.

Don’t even know where to start. The blandest food ever. Sweet and sour sauce was cold and jelly like. The prawn crackers were on another level… CHEWY! Like they had been aired out for a few days. Chips were overcooked and dry chicken. Really disappointed and can’t condone the price for it either. Such a shame :(. Something needs to be done for improvement! Oh and my can of coke was missing. The best part of this experience was the lovely delivery driver!

Honestly just not very tasty food. Chips were very dry. Crispy beef was horrible, did not taste of beef and the batter had the texture of sand. Meat in chow Mein was chewy and bland. Curry sauce was nice.

Grim is a fair description for the insipid mush this place churns out - before you go in just have a look at the pictures of their dishes on display in the taxi office window below the restaurant - I promise you you won’t go in! Walk across the road to the Taphouse or Peterville inn - if you don’t you’ll wish you had!

Went in for a take out meal this evening. Food was OK but service leaves a lot to be desired! Surly, unsmiling, unfriendly man who took my order and barely said 2 words to me the whole time. Definitely shouldn’t be working in any kind of hospitality!! The clue is in that word..!

The worst Chinese I've ever had. So expensive, this should cost half the price as the chef clearly can't cook proper Chinese food! £70 straight in the bin literally! Chicken balls were chewy, like it had been reheated, sesame prawn toast had no prawn, satay Chicken chewy, sweet and sour hong Kong style was literally Chicken and the usual sweet and sour dipping sauce chucked on top, absolutely gross and gloopy, black bean sauce was also gloopy. Best thing was we got free prawn crackers BUT they were stale! The only things that enjoyed anything were the dogs! Recommend setting up in this sector instead.

Before ordering estimate said 30-45 mins. After ordering it said 1 hour, but it actually came in 15 minutes. Food was very tasty and piping hot on arrival. The only criticism is the price of some of the items and the fact there was no standard egg fried rice on the menu.
