The worst Chinese I've had in 46 years

Fantastic food, and serving times have been significantly improved in the last year.

Ordered on Deliveroo at 8pm and it never arrived. No contact from restaurant.

Ordered and collected in store. Could not fault the service, staff were friendly and polite and service was very quick. However i requested no prawns in the special fried rice due to a mild allergy. Good job it is only a mild allergy as when it was opened at home there were a couple of prawns in it and the rice was also a bit firm. The chips were also not great as they were dry and quite hard.

The food is great, but there is a problem with online ordering where you cannot use a card.

I have been ordering here for a few months after being recommended the munchy box (very good btw) Tonight I ordered at 6pm deliver was an hour, not an issue. After 2 hours I called and asked where my order was. The person on the phone checked and I heard another person in the back ground confirm it was out for delivery. 40 minutes later still no food.....called back and after a few minutes of checking, they established my order had been completely missed. Normally I would give a much lower review after nearly 3 hours of waiting for food however, they were complete honest about what had happened, very apologetic, refunded part of my order and ultimately provided me with hot food to eat. Will I order for delivery again, no. But would I order again and go to collect yes absolute you can't fault the food.

I like the food but the promotions are awkward and not very well worded leading to multiple times of canceling order as was too expensive. Then the staff don't always seem very helpful. But the food is always nice can't fault that.

Food is good, not loaded with MSG unlike the rest of the Chinese takeaways in Haverhill. The service could be more on the ball. Probably a bit more expensive but you pay for what you get. So I'm adding onto this review because we regularly order from the China Inn. The food doesn't falter in quality at all and that's the only reason we still go there. The website is awful, constantly has problems but if you phone and place an order for delivery and want to pay by card, they won't let you. Its really annoying. The staff are also really rude on the phone and it just makes the whole ordering and collecting process a real let down. We have also had problems with ordering and then turning up to pay by card only to be told that less than £15 you can only pay by cash. However they don't tell you this on the phone. So in summary the food is great but the staff, website and ordering is like pulling teeth and is unpleasant. The staff don't care either as we have tried to convey this and they are unbothered. I would have stopped ordering along time ago if the food was a let down.

I bought chicken soup on 6/6/23, they added chicken with pork, between am a regular customer, taste is annoyed,disappointed

Put in an order online with just eat at 5pm which was around £45 worth of food, it say delivery between 6.30 and 6.45 at 6.58 got a message to say food on its way. At 7.10 phoned shop got told to hold 3 times but ended up being cut off. When I got through I said no to her going to check and get back to me I said sort it now, found out food was still being cooked at gone 7.10pm so it was still going to be await. If they can't handle the orders why take them why not stop online orders until they have caught up completely ruined mothers day meal as we had to cancel at the thought of not getting our food we ordered at 5pm until at least 8pm on a Sunday. We are now waiting for a full refund from China Inn which is a different name on just eat so not sure what that's all about. Will never order online again

Unfortunately I made the mistake of ordering food from here online. Ordered at 5pm. Got told it would be 45mins....paid for it...then told it would be here between 6.35 and 6.55. got a text at 656 saying on way. Finally calling them 3 times they admitted at 727 they hadn't even cooked it so had to cancel and get something else. I'd never use again

Not the best Chinese in town. Needs to improve its delivery time and overall quality of food.

Order taken over phone and as had a special request for items not to be included in a dish, they made sure they repeated order back. It was ready for collection in the given time and service in restaurant was good. The person I dealt with was polite, kind and helpful. As always fantastic food.

We started using China Inn when Top Chef closed and up until recently we have been really impressed, the food is always tasty and arrives piping hot. Unfortunately the past 4 times the delivery has been very late - we are still waiting for one now which should have been delivered half an hour ago - the order was placed at 630pm, it is now 8.20pm, The excuse is always the same - we are waiting for the driver ... This will probably be the last time we use them. EDIT: The food turned up an hour late - luke warm - it has obviously been on a magical mystery tour of Haverhill. What a waste of almost £50 - China Inn, you have just lost a (regular) customer.

Very disappointed with the level of service but also the delivery time! Called on a Saturday night which is always expected to be busy, told delivery would be up to 2 hours which was fine. However over 3 hours later no food, the staff have been saying for nearly an hour it’s out for delivery which is clearly not true. Girls on the phone in the background were just laughing and giggling! Worst customer service along with time keeping! This is the last Chinese in Haverhill you should order from!

Expect any delivery order to be at least 1 hour later than promised, the staff handling the calls to be rude and obnoxious and for there to be no apology on offer. Food is decent enough but the service is beyond a joke. Time to move to another take-away.

Waiting over an hour for food - absolutely ridiculous service. This has happened before but we gave the benefit of the doubt; but now we won’t be re ordering again. Customer service is atrocious and to be honest they didn’t even seem bothered. Disappointing

First time ordered as new to area the share boxes were good but rice was cold we also ordered a lamb dish and that was also cold and looked like it was straight from freezer and thawed out but not heated will not be using again 60 poind order and most of it went in bin

Very poor quality food Chicken in satay sauce was bland, basically chicken in water Salt and pepper chips, absolutely no salt just chopped onions and chips 😐 We not returning!

Food is amazing, love the new boxes that have been introduced over the last couple of months so nice to be able to have a bit of everything rather than being stuck on what to order, would recommend

Ordered their new Munchy box twice now, amazing both times!! Ready to collect really quickly and food was delicious. Good mixture of everything you want from a Chinese, generous portion & amazing value. Definitely will my go to Chinese order from now on!

This is probably one of the best restaurants I have ever been in Haverhill! And the takeaway was out of this world. Keep it up!!

Me and my partner have always ordered from here and we have never had a problem with the food, we have always liked the food. however tonight when my partner ordered. It come 30 mins after when it said 60 mins. ( not complaining) dished up and it was stone cold.all of it was just cold. I had to re heat mine twice it was that cold. Not that I had left it for so long either. I tucked in to realise it had been in a min and a half and was still bloody cold. To be honest we have both decided from now on to go else where for personal reasons 😁

I placed a very large and complicated order several days before being delivered to a holiday home for a family gathering.last week...Not only was the food delivered on time, every dish was delicious and spot on ..Thank you Kelly and staff for making our special occasion such a success

Tasty enough however my mother ordered stir fried scalops but received pork! I ordered Mapo tofu. It was tasty but was simply not like any Mapo tofu I've ever experienced (it was made with strips of meat rather than correctly with mince). Disappointing.

Hands down the best Chinese food in Haverhill in our opinion, HOWEVER the time until collection should be taken with a pinch of salt. 2 weeks ago we had to wait an extra 20 mins after arriving on time to collect, tonight we were told 40 mins and it turned out to be 75 mins. Estimations of when orders will be ready should not be this far out.

My husband and I went here for dinner and it was lovely, great food, service and atmosphere. It was clean and tidy and masks and hand sanitiser as you entered. Also they took our temperatures and name and telephone number for tracing.

We went here for an early evening NYE meal. We booked the table last minute but they squeezed us in as we wanted an early booking as we had a baby with us. We were the only people in the restaurant although the takeouts were non-stop and had quite a big queue the whole time we were there. Despite being rushed off their feet with takeout, the service was great and the food was lovely and came out quickly. We did the all you can eat set menu for £18.99 and we were not disappointed. They also had a highchair for my baby.

Not for the first time China Inn has failed to deliver in the timescale given and, worse, didn't feel it necessary to notify me. I called to chase well after the 1 hr 15 given to be told it would be another half an hour. When I complained, the manager felt it acceptable to talk over me, argue, and generally accept no responsibly for their piddling poor service. I understand Saturday evenings are busy, I do. But why would you not put a courtesy call in to say there may be a delay and give customers the opportunity to cancel their order and find alternative options. Instead we're scrabbling around at 8.30pm trying to find something to eat and feeling wholeheartedly disappointed that we considered using China Inn, despite having a very similar incident when we ordered several months ago. Shame, as their food is actually pretty good. There's certainly better (read:reliable) takeaways out there, so do try those first!

. Nil points ! Just ditched the majority of a roast duck red thai curry and a chicken satay. Worst takeaway food I have ever tasted.. Red thai curry was so thin and anaemic without any flavour even though we'd asked for it hot and spicy. Goodness knows what you could say about the chicken satay. Certainly never tasted anything as tasteless and anaemic as this poor specimen. The only thing I'm grateful for is that we did not eat in the restaurant! I will never eat from here again.! Was unable to give it nil points. Doesn't deserve 1 star.

Really easy to order over the phone, very friendly representative on the phone, food looking delicious and tasting as well... I'm very pleased with the experience... Your leaflet that you delivered to us today finally changed my partner's view of Chinese food and we ordered our first Chinese takeaway in 5years! Thank you for your service

Consistently good, always reliable. If you can better to collect as delivery times can be long. Parking can be a little tricky down the Pightle - can be fined.

What a delightful experience it was tonight being at China Inn. The food is to perfection and the duck was so so tender. I would advise this to anyone who is in the area. All staff polite and always putting their customers first. Bravo!

Last night we went for a 40 th birthday celebration and we horrified by the front of house service. After having many previous meals here, there was a new woman on the desk who clearly did not want to be there! It took half an hour to make an order, the food came out very slowly, the plates for the main meal came out 10 minutes before the food. The food was all served on cold plates, the duck was cold, the chicken came out 5 minutes after the rest of the meal. But the main issue we had was the service, one of our party was taken ill and we had to leave immediately, I asked the woman on the desk for the bill and a couple of takeout boxes. She promptly took a telephone call! I ended up going in the kitchen myself! The other staff were very helpful, and could clearly see that our poor sickly girl (who also has obvious learning difficulties) needed to go home fast! I would suggest the management review their customer service as it is not a clear reflection on the normally friendly, happy environment provided.

Our 3rd visit to the China Inn and we will definitely be returning - we have the buffet menu, and it's not like a usual all you can eat, here you order dishes (up to 5 at a time) and each are individually prepared and served (no cheap help yourself counter) the food is delicious and looks great when served. Best dishes are the duck and the lamb pancakes! Nice polite staff and never overcrowded. Really nice place. Good value also.

Beef curry and rice very nice. But chicken balls and there chips. Inedible as really weird taste and chicken felt like still frozen as really chewy.never again :(

Finally found a good, nearly local, Chinese restaurant ! Excellent food, friendly staff and will certainly return - hope it will be the same as it was quite quiet when we visited.

Take away food from here has been good in the past, but has really gone down hill. Previous order was missing items, thought it was a one off. Tired again over the weekend, was told it would take 20-30 mins but actually took 45 mins, so waiting around for ages. When I got it home it was all cold! Shame really, it used to be very good.

Reasonable delivery time and polite staff, the food was nice and hot but one dish to stay clear of is the salt and pepper squid it was disgustingly over cooked dry and leathery, it's my first time buying it from this restaurant and never again as 90% of it went in the bin.
