in my opinion it’s the best chinese in reigate - redhill area. lovely staff make you feel welcome and all around the food is amazing you must go :)

Staff are really nice (except young guy who really didn’t want to be there and it showed). Food much better than average for a Chinese outside of Central London. The acoustics are terrible if busy, you have to raise your voice to hear your table (need to add items on walls to combat this as large window at front and high ceilings - quite bad to chat). Tables nice, big and round. They serve large tables before small tables even if you sat before them which is a little frustrating They changed the toilets but still a steep climb up to resturant when finished rather than it used to be steep climb up to the toilets, not great for people with mobility issues. Would not recommend if have mobility issues. Big issue I have is not to be given an itemised bill !!! Just a total cost and attached are the waiters order notes in ‘Chinese’ therefore you have absolutely no idea of the actual costs !! This is obviously open to abuse from the resturant- this has to change - I have never seen this in the last 25 years except a Cafe!! Still miss, like most of Reigate, the eat as much as you want - great for kids to try different food - even if they did it on a eg Tuesday/Weds but guessing not profitable. Nice time and food but expensive for what it is

Very very poor Chinese, ordered a collection, duck with plum sauce, little meat but plenty of fat, no discernable plum taste among all the liquid, but far more vegetables than meat including lots of cucumber?? . Also had szechuan beef, just a few pieces of beef , hardly any chilli but lots of vegetables, and again no flavour but swimming in liquid. Avoid.

We visited this restaurant last night and had a great family meal, the food was lovely & the staff were all friendly and accommodating. Loved the decor inside and was nice and clean. We will definitely be returning.

I was recommended to go to this restaurant. We went for a family lunch. The food was fresh. well cooked and spiced. I couldn't fault it. My son in law said the prawn balls were the best he had ever had.

This place seemed to have good reviews, I hadn't been to a Chinese restaurant for a while and was hoping for something good. I took a takeaway for two paid over £50, wish I hadn't. It really wasn't very good and the next day I had food poisoning. I think its better to go to M&S/elsewhere and get a ready Chinese meal, sorry to say as I like to support local business.

It's been a year since my last visit and I have always found the service and people great! But the price has gone up and quantity and quality gone down ! I don't mind paying for good food but it's really only average nowadays am sad as used to be really good

It's changed owners over the past few years and is definitely one of the top Chinese restaurants in the area. 80th birthday meal for 15 people. Organised from Egypt over the phone and beautifully executed. The staff were great fun and their service was perfect. Some of the party had never been before and were really impressed with the food selection and quality. Highly recommended.

Got to be one of the worst restaurants I have ever visited. Waited an hour and half for main course...as did everyone else on the night. I ordered crispy beef dish!!...beef??...I wish I had taken a photo...it was a tiny bowl of what looked like twiglets....they were hard and about half a centimetre thick...if there was beef I could only see with a magnify glass...tasteless and no sauce...rice was dry.. Whole thing awful. My other family members ordered sweet and sour chicken...I think they had five tiny pieces of chicken...never seen such a tiny portion...rice portions very small. Tge manager changed meal for beef in spring onion...equally disappointing and tasteless...£58 paid. A waste of money and evening. Just to let u know I am not one of those rude complaining customers. We didn't say much..didn't see the point. I know my food, I love all food. I try to be positive and encouraging to those trying to run a restaurant. My own daughter is a very good chef, I know what hard work it is. Unfortunately I cannot not write this review to warn others not to waste money...go to local takeaway...cheaper and tastier food!

Popped in when staying at Reigate Manor Hotel. We both had the Cantonese feast which gave us lots of choice. Food was tasty, but the oil in some dishes was old/noticeable which let it down a bit. Otherwise was excellent value for money. Left feeling very full. Service was excellent.

We were warmly welcomed by delightful staff. The menu is so extensive including a fabulous vegan menu. The food was delivered quickly and was excellent. Really lovely experience from start to finish

We ordered take away. The crispy duck wasn’t crispy - it seemed undercooked and soggy - and so we left most of it. In recent years their prices have been jacked up considerably and at the same time, every time we get take away from there, there’s a problem - something gets left out… or it takes forever… or something tastes bad. The food and service have gone downhill.

We went for lunch and arrived at 12.45. The first thing that the waiter said was that they closed at 2pm, so we felt we were there under sufference. The set menu was ok. The starters arrived quickly, sadly the main courses arrived about 2 minutes later and were just left on the table to go cold. We won't be in a hurry to return.

Never been here before and fancied a take away. We ordered food and honestly was not disappointed. Food was full of flavour, good portion sizes, great value for money. Staff were very friendly. Will definitely be going to eat in next time as the atmosphere was lovely while I waited for my food.

Ordered takeout last night, all of us were very disappointed after using them several times before. Food now comes in small containers, prawn toast & chilli salt squid were sweaty, food then goes soggy, squid was chewy as overcooked. Ribs we asked for in sauce yet came dry & were ridiculously tiny, everything was padded out with onions & carrot ribbons. Daughters chicken balls were also much smaller than before & the batter soggy from the same packaging, also very doughy & not pleasant texture to eat. Would have called to complain but their attitude last time they got our order wrong was, we don’t deliver so come to collect, no option to refund! So you then have to leave the rest of your food to either go cold to do a 10min round trip journey, or eat everything else to then go back for one item by which point you can’t be bothered, not great customer service, won’t be going back sadly.

Fantastic food, great waiting staff. We've been to Five Spice many times since moving to Reigate, and have taken advantage of their takeaway collections too!, and it's been faultless each time. The food tastes great, especially their Chicken Satay and their Black Pepper Beef which we'd highly recommend! Waiting staff are extremely courteous and helpful.

Good location right next to the train station. Upon entry I was pleased, looks very authentic and has a good energy about it. The staff were great, greeted us well and came across lovely. I heard so many great reviews about this place I was excited to try it, unfortunately I left very much disappointed. We ordered our drinks, I went for a pint after noticing the draft tap, sadly I was poured a drink from a can. £3.70 for a £1 CAN of lager is not great, didn’t enjoy it wish I chose a Chinese bottled beer. We shared a starter and unfortunately It was extremely dry, as if it was cooked from frozen (chicken gyoza). My main arrived, I ordered the Szechuan beef and I can honestly say it was without a doubt the saltiest dish I have ever had in my life, I love salt but this was unbearable. I should have addressed it to them straight away however I felt bad as the customer service was so great. I ate half and couldn’t manage the rest. I may visit again to give it another go…..we will see.

Ordered our food based on their website menu. When we collected was told our food would be £6 more. I know it’s not much but the server would not honour the published price.

Been here twice now and cannot fault. The food is so fresh, tastes amazing and is well presented. Very authentic decor and service - staff were helpful, friendly and accommodating. Fantastic range of vegetarian and vegan options!!

We had our first takeaway from here last night and it didn’t disappoint. The portions were generous (eg. 1/4 crispy duck) food tasty (we loved beef noodles) and we felt it was very reasonable (£30 for two people). We will be back again.

We have been getting take-aways from here for some time as we very much like Asian/Chinese food. On every occasion the food has been excellent and ready at the chosen time (unlike many other take away outlets). We dined there this time and it was great, the welcome we received and the service throughout the meal was excellent as was the food. The menu is extensive and I am sure that it covers most tastes. Try it, you won’t be disappointed. The cost was acceptable even allowing for no £10 p.p. discount.

We have previously been several times to the former China House restaurant where is was a 'All you can eat'which fine but not the greatest ambience. Since its transformation to Five Spice we we truly delighted with the a la carte menu which was extremely we present and delicious. We would really recommend this for a delightful meal

My fiance and I were looking for somewhere partaking in the 'Eat Out to Help Out' scheme, and discovered that Five Spice in Reigate was part of the scheme. We hadn't been for many years, back when it was the China House, but thought we'd give it a go. Wow! The food was delicious, and the vegetarian menu was by far the biggest I have ever seen! Service was great too, and the new toilet facilities are very nice indeed.

We had good quality food and generous portions - Crispy duck and Hong Kong prawns were excellent. Food was ready for collection at the time arranged.

My husband and I went for a meal this Friday and it was delicious. Great service too. We highly recommend.

I’ve been really impressed with this place since it changed to be Five Spice. The food is excellent, service is positively charming and the choice of vegetarian options is unusually good. It’s so nice to have a good Chinese restaurant in the area at last.

I love this restaurant. The food is well cooked and very tasty. There is nothing like it locally. Finding a good Chinese is getting harder to find in the local area of REIGATE. I think this restaurant has improved immensely from a few years ago. We have had takeaway and eaten in. Both fantastic. I can not recommend them highly enough.

Great local Chinese restaurant. Slightly off the beaten track just outside Reigate town centre you’ll find this local gem. I use this restaurant for both takeaway and dining in, I believe what sets this restaurant above the others is the extremely friendly service. The food is also good but the service is excellent. My personal favourite on the menu would be the fillet steak in peppercorn sauce (highly recommended)

Formally an 'eat all you like' this quality establishment has recently undergone a face-lift and extended its range of specialist meals to include some very authentic choices.On this occasion however, I stuck with some of my tried and tested favorites. The welcome and service is always warm, friendly and personalised. There is a coloured (battery) tea-light system . . . if you require service or attention during your meal, simply switch the tea-light on and they'll come to you. That's not to say you'll be ignored if you don't, they are very attentive but not intrusive.Although I was there alone, there were a couple of parties in . . . what appeared to be a 'work's do', one adult birthday party and one child's birthday meal. Each of the latter two, had birthday cakes and a birthday song, delivered on cue.For those un-used to eating with chopsticks but wanting to try, help is at hand and 'trainer' chopsticks are also available.The setting and indeed ambiance are both formally presented and casually enjoyed, in equal measure.First timers' tip . . . leave room for a pudding/sweet/afters! ;-)

Been coming to China House for years. First visit since merging and very disappointing. Ordered starters and they didn’t arrive together. Was still eating and the table was cleared. Had not ordered any more but plates were brought out anyway. Asked for the bill. Thought we had been overcharged for the drinks, so asked for the menu and she new straight away what we were questioning and said I thought you hadn’t ordered all those drinks! So make sure you check your bill! Certainly won’t be going back.

We have been to Five Spice 3 times now and used to get takeaways from here before moving away. We came back for a family meal and as with every time service was very friendly and efficient and the food is the best we've ever tasted. Had an amazing meal with the family tonight. I don't think I can pick a highlight as everything was just spot on. Drinks, food, service and atmosphere all on point. Definitely be back soon.

I’ve used this local restaurant at least monthly, since I moved to Reigate a year and half ago. Always order a takeaway in person. Love the menu choices and I’ve consistently always received great tasting, quality food and friendly professional service. Never been disappointed. I look forward to one day enjoying a sit down meal. Would highly recommend.

6 of us went to this restaurant for my sons birthday I can honestly say this is the best Chinese restaurant I’ve been to ever! The restaurant itself is very clean modern and welcoming. The staff were fantastic they laughed and joked with us they make this restaurant a brilliant place to be. Now moving on to the important part the food. The food is amazing we did not have a single bad dish it was all nice the starters and mains exceeded our expectations and the wine was also very well selected. Just visited the restaurant this evening with our children and another family. The service was incredible, they couldn’t have been friendlier or more attentive. The food was great, I’m not a big fan of Chinese food normally but this tasted fresh and not at all greasy. The sizzling beef and the aromatic duck were amazing.

Ordered take away from here a few times now and every time it has been brilliant. I have a gluten allergy and was delighted to see they have a gluten free menu on their website. The owner seems very clued up on gf and other allergies. The food is absolutely delicious every time!!

I will review this restaurant forever. The best place to go and eat whether you want it for couples or families. The food is outstanding now. The staff are the most friendly and will do anything for you. We now use the restaurant nearly every week and every time I can’t wait to go back. You MUST try :)

We were greeted very warmly and seated immediately at a lovely table with a lazy Susan.

Avoid this restaurant- terrible service- awful food. We arrived looking forward to a nice evening meal, however upon arrival we were ushered to the smallest table in the restaurant, at best this table would fit two people, we were a group of 4. To point out we were the only people in the restaurant from the start of our meal to the end. Due to the cramped table one of our party whilst reaching for his dish knocked a drink all over the main meals. The server did not offer replacement dishes nor would she move us to a bigger table. The food was sub standard and quite unappetising to look at. Avoid!!!!

Got to be the best Chines I have eaten in to date. Food was so good I do not know where to start. Service matched it in every way. We were assisted on how to order, what went with what and great value for money. Totally recommend.

Our first visit was met by friendly efficient service and excellent food. We were very hungry and ordered soups and starters, and then ordered our mains later. We enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and were not hurried. The fillet steak in black pepper was excellent and we requested a chicken dish not on the menu and this was provided without question and was also excellent. The portion sizes were generous and we will definitely return. Shame we have to go by train from Ashtead but we do like a bottle of wine with the meal

Ordered a take away from here on Saturday evening after our last take away being delicious, however this time was very disappointing. Food was bone dry, received a dish we didn't order. Just not enjoyable at all which is a shame because it's local and last time was very good.

Under new management, youd think they'd want to make a decent impression. The waitress was ignorant and got our orders wrong, several times. The food all tasted the same, and was overcooked, and they have the nerve to add a service charge, for the worst service possible, and argue about removing it. We left half of our meal, complained it awful, no reaction from the server, not even a hint of an apology

Absolutely going for a sit down after a delicious take away, duck with pancakes, and satay chicken, succulent and cooked to perfection. Lovely hostess, so polite and friendly but not over the top so you feel invaded, have definately found a little local gem here!

have been used to going to what was China House and have the buffet. No longer a buffet but thought would give it a go. Absolutely fantastic service, were happy to change whatever we wanted on the set menu, couldn't do enough for us. food was excellent, everything beautifully presented. it was our daughters birthday and they brought her out some ice cream with a candle, made her feel really special. would 100% recommend and definitely going back there again

Wow, what a Vegan menu! We couldn't decide what to eat.... We tried alot of dishes. All were amazing. The flavours are out of this world. The service was brilliant too. We really recommend this restaurant.

My wife and I live in Reigate and have eaten here for several years and the food has always been good however since it became Five Spices the food is out of this world good. We’re both Vegan and they have an amazing Vegan menu several pages long with creative dishes. The Vegan King Prawns are mind blowingly innovative and delicious. The hot spicy aubergine is super tasty in fact you just can’t go wrong. Tom and Carol who run the place are attentive and really impress, and the chef is a genius. The newly refurbished restaurant is tastefully decorated and the furniture sets the scene very well.

My partner and I recently visited here for my birthday meal. It was the first time we had been to this restaurant and certainly won’t be the last.

Wow, me and my partner use to love the all you can eat menu but now they have refurbished it is menu only. There are a wide selection of set menus that you can choose from and trust me you walk out feeling very full! The food was so much better for quality than it used to be and I cannot tell you how friendly the staff were to us. We will be definitely going back on a regular basis! Carol is still there and she’s always got a smile on her face OVERALL 10/10!!!!! It’s a must visit!!!!

The restaurant has recently been renamed to 5 spice with all new decor. We visited as a group of 9 for my boyfriend's birthday. We had set menu B and the food was amazing! Very quick service, all the food came out fresh, the portions were massive with lots of leftovers.

The food bore no resemblance to authentic Chinese, and seemed to be warmed up from pre-prepared packet ingredients . You would be much better off buying a Birds Eye ready meal. The décor was nice.

They have a new layout, new furniture (I love a round table), new crockery but the same fabulous food and service. The all you can eat buffet has gone, but set meals are large and plentiful. You can pick you own main dishes if you don't like some of them (we don't do spicy) so replaced a couple. We love this place and the updated décor a big bonus. Well done

I went to this restaurant with my friend after having many good experiences with the all-you-can-eat buffet. We were shocked to find the restaurant had been very nicely refitted but was supposedly under new management and the buffet has now ceased. Unfortunately the menu was very expensive so we decided to go somewhere else for dinner.

We have been going to the China House for years. We live in Guildford so we make the 30-45 minute trip to get there.

Firstly please note this place has been refurbished - NO LONGER ALL YOU CAN EAT!!!! They need to update their web site. Clean but overpriced, no atmosphere.

Decided to try this restaurant on the spur of the moment. Last came at least 10 years ago. All you can eat for £ 16 . Atmosphere OK but very stark lighting. Felt staff fairly abrupt and either rushing you to order, or ignoring you. Cleanliness excellent. We felt food quality was poor. Most of the food we tried was dry and over cooked. Special rice and noodles the exception and really tasty. With the plethora of restaurants in the vicinity you can do better for your money. Cannot say I would recommend to others and would probably prefer to spend a fraction more and get the food from one of the numerous excellent take away nearby.

Just by Reigate Station. £18 on Friday night, possibly Saturday night too. £16 other nights for all you can eat. Also menu that you can order individualdishes. Lacks atmosphere for a romantic evening. Service efficient. I would not say this is your special evening out for the best of food but it is enjoyable enough. Very quick. All of the typical Chinese dishes.Have visited this place as a large group of work friends as well as a couple. I wouldn't say you would be introcued to any new dishes and wonderful tastes but it is a great place if you really want a group meal with loads of dishes to share. Even as a couple, they just did maller portions. It's okay here although the atmosphere of the room really seems to lack. Seems to be high ceilings and a certain type of lighting. Casual sort of dining but would not say this was a first date or romantic place to go.Okay for your typical Chinese meal but not if you are after something more interesting for the tastebuds. I'd like to say it's a great place for a party group but I do think the atmosphere and decor is a little too open and baron. `i was there with a son who likes to choose the sweet siehs such as Sweet and Sour chicken and chilli Beef.

Great value if you need a good fill-up on tasty chinese. Service varies from excellent to very poor depending on who serves.

I have been visiting China House in Reigate for over ten years and their food and service has always highly impressed me! My visit today reinforced my view that this is a high quality restaurant with absolutely lovely staff and delicious food. Furthermore the portions are generous and they are very happy to make you more food when having the all you can eat option so that you leave full! I have also celebrated birthdays here previously and they are very happy to accommodate all your needs and make it a very special time. I must add that it is very good value for money! I urge you to ignore other deprecating reviews on this website, as this restaurant actually deserves the highest praise possible.

Excellent food with friendly service at a very reasonable price. The staff are attentive without being overbearing. There are 2 options of menu, either a la carte or buffet. We chose the buffet option. You can order starters first and they always check wether you want more before you move on to the next course. Nothing is too much trouble. A fun evening out.

Always fresh food .... need more staff really busy constantly ..... sting you on drinks but the food is fresh fresh fresh served with a smile.
