China Garden in Isle of Wight

Had a great meal tonight, we had 6 people with various dishes, they were all very tasty and nice and hot when delivered. I order from here at least once a month and the quality has always been exceptional. We had a great meal tonight with good friends. A fantastic takeaway.

Wonderful food + new front of house lady is super friendly and efficient.

Gosh, I rarely put a bad review out as I know every company is struggling. I'm so sorry but my main of deep fried king prawns in garlic butter was pretty awful. They were incredibly dry and where the garlic butter was I'm not quite sure, but they surely missed my prawns! Rest of meal ok, special curry, special rice and the king prawn balls saved the day as we would have been very hungry. A little disappointed.

5☆. Excellent takeaway food. Wide choices on menu.

Over priced big time. Charge extra large and they send out small with 6 pieces of beef between 2 people. The spring rolls are soggy. When I called they said it’s standard for them. Insult by offering £3 refund when the beef was over £10. So stay clear of this company. Not the first time I have had problems with them. They should be ashamed of themselves

I really enjoy this takeaway. My favorite dishes are the kungpo chicken and lemon chicken. If you're into spicy and sour flavors, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.

Greasy no taste and expensive but ready in 15 minutes says it all. They do not care shame used to be nice

The reviews looked a bit mixed, but as it was situated close to where I was staying I decided to phone through an order. Super efficient and told me collection would be in 10 mins. The food was tasty and hot. We also got prawn crackers as a freebie. The king prawn chow mein was excellent. We really enjoyed it, and I will definitely use it again when I am in Shanklin.

Online ordering didn't work.Small portions.Bland.Expensive.Barely any chicken in the chicken chow mein.More vegetables than meat and certainly no chilli in the crispy chilli beef.Curry sauce was nice though.

We enjoyed a lovely takeaway from here. All the dishes were reasonably priced, very tasty and well prepared. Easy to order online and prompt delivery. This is our favourite Chinese takeaway in Shanklin and we will be back again.

I guess if the Chinese people coming here they will fight with them absolutely rubbish food, didn't cook properly and no test we put everything we ordered in the bin

Take away so I can’t say much about the atmosphere and same for the service we called in and picked it up but it was a solid 10/10 for food as me and the Mrs ate in silence

Started eating here when it opened seen it slowly go down hill expensive small portions slow delivery cold food not good will be eating here anymore I advise to think before ordering!

We ordered our food, the staff where really nice and welcoming, food was sooo good, would love to come again.

Extremely disappointing meal!!! After using this takeaway since it opened many years ago, we have noticed it going down hill. The prices go up twice yearly and the portion sizes are 1/4 what they used to be. The curry sauce, satay sauce and sweet n sour sauce wouldnt even fill an egg cup and the portions of curry, rice and chow mein are tiny! Such a shame as the staff are lovely and the miniscule amounts of food are actually delicious.

The food is very high quality with a reasonable price. Me and My friends bought noodles, soup and rice. And we all enjoyed it so much that we had to go for seconds! Definitely recommend!

Don’t go by the excellent reviews - they offer customers a freebie for 5 star reviews. Food was oily and wasn’t great to taste. They had turned of the data signal on their card machine so that they could get cash payments and save on vendor costs. Shameful!

My food was given wrong checked when I got home and I called if they could drop it off the right item and give the other item back and they asked for more money they also refused a refund and then hung up on me

I’d give no stars if I could. Have used China Garden for many years now, but no more. Online order just took over 2 hours to arrive and when it did it was cold and I’m having to oven. Offered twenty percent of order. Told them where to stick it. Last two orders late, but 2 hours is not acceptable. Could have driven down and got it quicker myself. Won’t be using again.

The Cantonese duck is delicious, the best Chinese takeaway.

i usually always come here, always great food, but my last order made me feel sick, I ordered the sweet-and-sour pork pecking style and I pulled a massive red hair from it. So someone in that kitchen must have red hair because I found about five in my dinner even have a video and I don’t have red hair mines long and brown quite disappointed Someone can’t just wear a hairnet

Always visit here when on the island. Food lovely but portion sizes on the small side. Staff very friendly and polite. You can see your food being cooked.

My son and I had a fantastic meal from here. Friendly, quick service and the food was the best Chinese meal we'd tasted in a long time. Would definitely recommend.

Placed online order as were on holiday and fancied a treat. Order arrived on time and was hot so was impressed by that. However, the mixed starters were soo greasy and dripping in oil and the crispy wontons were a joke. We threw that away. The crispy beef was really bland so didnt eat that either. The chicken chow mein was nice and sweet and sour was ok - £35 for the only 2 edible dishes though was shocking.

Always had a great meal from here, great takeaway food and it’s always hot when it arrives. Great customer service and we recommend this to all our friends.

Abit expensive service Good food was OK not worse I've had but nowhere near best

It was late, cold, I asked for NO MUSHROOMS in the chow mein and its got mushrooms in, I asked for extra onions in the Vegetarian smoked chicken and they are not even cooked. I just wanted a hot meal with my family after doing a 12 hour shift I am now having toast. Not what you expected when you have spent £36.

Love this Chinese. Delivery can take bloody hours so always best to do order online and collect.

Lovely food, which we collected and was still hot when we got back to our hotel. All satisfied with the tasty dishes including vegan options. Would definitely order from here again the next time we are in Shanklin

Paid £40 and got food poisoning, won't be using again

One of the worst tasting Chinese I have ever eaten at. We were on holiday and staying at a local Holiday camp.I have them the correct holiday camp 3 times. Placed a £55 order, and when it was due to turn up, no one was the be seen. I then got a call from a rude driver demanding to know where I was as he said he was there waiting. When I went into the restaurant to find out what was going on the owners told me that he had gone to the wrong holiday camp. As soon as they realised it was their mistake and not mine, they phoned him to go to the right camp. When the food finally arrived, it was stone cold and completely tasteless!!. Avoid this restaurant, as they haven’t a clue what they are doing, and the staff are extremely rude and don’t care.

Uncooked Food Not Nice! So disappointed this evening when I collected a No14 Smoked Chicken, described as shredded chicken with caramelised chilli and garlic. There was no caramelisation, the garlic was completely raw and white, there was a sweet taste of what I think was sugar (maybe to help caramelise, but not cooked) and not a chilli in sight. It was so bad, I had to cook it myself as raw garlic was not good. I love hot food, so the missing chilli was a problem for me. This was our first trip to China Garden, and unfortunately it will be our last. If we had been nearer I would have returned the dish, as trading standards would agree it was not as described, and not cooked! I hope the chicken was cooked separately, which I guess it was, but if I get food poisoning, I will be in touch!

Lovely takeaway, all lovely and hot when we got home really good

Wide ranging menu. Great service. Really enjoyed the food which is delicate yet tasty - not stodgy - with quality ingredients and cooked just right. The crispy duck is to die for! Definitely recommend.

We have had takeaway from here on a few occasions. Food has arrived promptly, although one time a day early, but they did come back correctly the following day, and is hot, and tasty. Unfortunately this time was different. The twenty minute delivery window was 10 minutes past its time so I phoned to check the previously efficient online system hadn’t let us down. I was told food was on its way, but delivery driver had some six drop offs to do. A further 20 minutes wait and another phone call and again assured it’s on the way, eventually 55 minutes after the earliest delivery time it arrived, I asked the driver about the delay, he said he didn’t know when it had been due but it was still hot, it wasn’t. We reheated the food , but the unappealing look of the cold curry sauce had taken away my appetite, reheated chicken was chewy, most of the food went in the bin, I sent an email telling them of our disappointment but no response has been received. We won’t be using them again.

First and last time we will order from here. Chicken wasn't cooked ( pink inside ) and King Po Prawn was in what only can be described as a jelly. Chow meins were the greasiest we've had

Wanted to compare take away to the sit in restaurant. Having attended one restaurant locally settled on this take away. The food was equal an in some ways surpasses the previous establishment. Less salty or MSG. Good portions. Good value for money.

Awful service. Waited 90 mins for food, when quoted 60 mins!! Phoned the restaurant twice to enquire, the guy we spoke to had a very bad attitude. When the food eventually arrived, the driver was lovely and very apologetic

Awful staff... Misinformed on the phone when placing order cause the guy didn't understand my question correctly. Received pork in our order which we don't eat but then were blamed to have not asked what all is included in the Singapore Rice. The menu does not state any meat with the rice at all. Called them to raise the issue and got spoken to by a very rude and adamant guy who blamed me for ordering wrongly and spoke over continuously over the phone. Please do not use the takeaway. Thought of going back to the shop and having the discussion but then thgt they are not worth it.

Very tasty! But you need to know how to order the menu! I only recommend the hidden menu - prawn udon, which is sour, spicy and full of seasoning. And hot and sour soup! ! ! ! ! !

This Chinese restaurant is the best Chinese food I have eaten in the UK. I have lived in London for almost a year and I have never felt this way before. Especially the hot and sour soup and udon noodles.

The food are very delicious and it is the only one restaurant which closed very late. U even can order some special food here!

Staff are rude, unreliable delivery service, staff are happy to leave customers food on side for over 40mins so by the time it gets to you it’s cold, sweet and sour sauce is served lumpy and looks like jelly!

Really disappointed by the service received from China Garden, this is the 2nd time we have had to wait an unacceptable amount of time for our food to be delivered. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried ordering again, needless to say...

Had a takeaway delivered and the food was cold. Very disappointing and when I complained I was told that the food could not have been cold. Did not reheat as not advisable to reheat rice. Very poor customer service. In fact, rude.

Food very greasy and overpriced, forgot my drinks in the order and didn't answer the phone when I tried to call up about it. Would definitely recommend Hong Kong City by the train station instead

Ordered our food, took 2.2 hours to arrive. Was told 70 minutes, phoned them twice only to be lied to. Food arrived, all stone cold. Really unsatisfied to say the least

We actually had two take-aways from here. We used the delivery service and they kept to the time requested. Food was delicious and would definitely recommend this Chinese take-away.

More options than most chinese takeaways. Even had vegetarian satay chicken. Fast friendly delivery and a decent price. Would reccomend :D

Went and ordered 2 plain chicken chow mains with no veg or anything else in it, then went home and it was full of veg, I go back there tonight and told the young boy whos there about it and all he had to do is laugh and smerk and didnt care about it at all. Tonight, they didnt even put chicken in the chicken chow main like what the hell is going on here.

Ordered first time from here for delivery (staying in holiday appt). Order was received in good time, food was hot and delicious. In fact, the best we’ve had in a long time in comparison to that at home. Will order again. Recommended.

Ordered a family meal .. as we do a couple times a month.. turned up just warm... Chicken balls under cooked (raw) Called them to say.. they offer reassurance that will be fine to eat! I wouldnt except that as they were raw in the middle and I have young children and that had started.. Guy spoke to another in background and then said any problems just call back... I wont be eating there again

Nice food and a nice service, there will tell you how many minutes you may wait, if you order delivery they will tell you how long the drive will need, Also I see a lot of people say about the delivery charge in the manual I say under 2 miles over £15 I’ll be no delivery charge so if you over 2 miles they will see where is your house and depends how far you are to charge a delivery charge.

I been china garden 2 times each week, i love his food, chicken curry is so yummy. Also the service is very fast.

Shocking. Luke warm food... Food forgotten. Paid £5 delivery charge. Now taken over 40 min more and food forgotten still not here. Super Expensive. Will not use again. Too add insult to injury I've called again 44 min later told me it's not coming as she wanted me to pay again. Chef doesn't speak english and staff trying to translate. Disgusted. I will tell everyone I know. Steer clear.
