This is a current review, June 2024. I have used China Chef twice in the last couple of weeks and both times it has been very good. The food is good, both times it has arrived ahead of the given time (and yesterday was a Friday night). The portions are generous. I had the House Special Curry which was really good. Both times I have been charged a 50p service charge and £2.50 delivery charge, which is a bit annoying, but the prices are good so it still works out good value.

Just had the worst takeaway ever from here! Watery cold chicken curry, cold crispy chips, chilli chicken that I couldn’t even eat and cold egg rice.

I order for a delivery and was not happy at all we just had a bit of taste and dont like at all all the menu was very pale like they only used flour and water or salt looks like it has been microwave we end up throwing it all what a disappoinment as we were hungry and looking forward to eat not recommend at all

Thought we would ignore some of the reviews and try it for ourselves and we are so glad we did! Best Chinese we have had in ages and the duck rolls were unreal! Arrived within 30 minutes of ordering, will definitely be ordering from here again

We've been ordering from them for about a year, and there was one time when our order didn't make it through, but other than that, they've been brilliant and everything has been correct and tastes delicious. 5 stars from me

Absolutely appalling king prawn with ginger and spring onion which looked and tasted like it was boiled. Never had such a bad Chinese in my life. Rest of other dishes totally mediocre and egg fried rice had never seen an egg. Will NEVER return!!!

we have received splendid food delivered to our door. There is a wide choice on the menu. The food is excellent, well flavoured, generous and fresh. The promised time from order to delivery is accurate, often arriving earlier than promised. We usually order 5-6 dishes which last us 2-3 days, which works out to about £6 each per meal. The green pepper and black bean sauce is equally good on chicken or just vegetables. The singapore noodle special and the chow mein special have generous helpings of prawns, pork, and chicken, all well-flavoured

Never had a bad meal here. Always get enough meat too. We have never used another Chinese restaurant as you just can’t get any better. The delivery time is always accurate and delivery drivers are polite. Their website is super easy to use and they respond quickly if you need to email them. And the best part is, if you’ve only got cash you can pay with cash upon delivery.

Ordered a meal at 9, didn't turn up untill 10 .10, unfortunately it was delivered to the wring address. They refused to believe it. After repeated arguments they agreed to refund. They have yet to refund anything. 26 beecholme high beeches. ( block of flats) in the morning I went to 26 high beeches ( private house, different post code ) which is three hundred yards from me, it was delivered to thier doorstep and left there all night. DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE PEOPLE.

Disgusting tasteless food. Women had a cold behind the desk and gave me dirty cutlery. I mean how hard is it to get sweet n sour and egg fried rice wrong!!!

We used to use this place a lot. However the fish dishes are not very nice and the chips are soggy. The delivery was always late and the food was mediocre. We have since found a better Chinese with more choice and better tasting food. The staff also are not the friendliest here.

I ordered by telephone for collection , the young well spoken lady took our order, we were confused what to order the young lady helped us. When we arrived we were greeted with great customer service by an Asian lady, she was the one who I spoke to. She was polite! It is always nice to see staff enjoying their role when working under current uncertainties & people finding life hard as it is. A smile goes a long way! Keep up the good work young lady & thank you again. We shall be returning. Hope to see you again .

Order at 6.57pm this evening , four common Chinese dishes and took over 2 hours to deliver. I live a six.minute walk (used google maps) from the restaurant and regularly order from them. So to have to wait for over 2 hours at a cost of £29.50 is totally unacceptable.

Used these for years up but never again.they must have changed owner ship,the food is all over cooked,no flavour in the chow meins or chicken.sweet and sour balls were un edible due to the batter being so chewy!so disappointing and such a let down after so many years!customer service is terrible,we called them up to complain to which we was told there’s nothing wrong with the food!so rude!there’s one lovely receptionist who works there who tried her best but the owners are awful people.avoid this place do not waste your money!

Awful a wild awful. It use to be amazing then changed hands about 8 months ago. All meat is over cooked dry and lacking flavour, the no over cooked. Lacking English speaker so the lovely delivery driver is doing her best l, even went in the kitchen personally to make sure they cooked correctly as it’s the third time we have complained. Even with her help it was hurrendous

MSG laden YUCK! Thought we would try a different Chinese takeaway than our usual . £10 more than our usual takeaway we where left disappointed. The beef dish was slimy and after a few bites we decided, no more! The crab claws also very weird taste and left me feeling a bit sick. Some of the other items were fine but it was overall rather disappointing. Back to our regular and sticking with it this time!

We ordered a takeaway for delivery last weekend. We was told an hour. It never came. We called the first time to be told it was on its way. After 15 minutes we where told the same. Again we called and they said we would receive £10 for the inconvenience. This did not happen after being promised. Once the food arrived it was not hot. The delivery drive is 4 minutes. This is such poor service. Really ruined the night. You have lost customers. Certainly us because of your lack of care. Lots more reading this. If anyone is happy to wait nearly 2 hours for food that was not even hot.

Quite poor. Curry powder in Special Fried Rice is a first with poor quality meats and pieces of gristle - really below par. Probably the worst hot n sour soup I’ve ever tasted. Ridiculous amounts of salt and complete lack of flavour made me throw this away. Sorry guys, while I don’t expect anything special from a Chinese Takeaway compared to my visits to HKG and Beijing this would make any Chinese national feel quite ashamed.

Absolutely awful service. Had previously ordered and had a good experience a few weeks ago. Tonight, delivery took 1 hour 40 min. Called and was told it was nearly here (my address wasn’t asked for). Called again 15 min later and told the same thing. Finally turned up cold and the driver told me he had the food for 30 minutes. They are a 10 minute drive away. Lady on the phone less than helpful and extremely rude. Will never use them again.

I’ve lived in Epsom all my life and it’s the first time we have had a takeaway from here. All good and fresh. Had the mixed starters, then salt and chilli chicken, chicken with ginger and spring onions, and egg fried rice - very tasty and delicious. Would highly recommend and definitely use again.

Staff was pleasant inside was very clean and food was a lot couldn't eat it off.

Great service delivered on time requests. Fantastic food and piping hot when it arrived aswell the prawn toast was crispy and not greasy the prawn crackers were delicious. The whole family been converted. Don’t normally do reviews but felt like I had to as was really nice. Social distance on delivery aswell with driver wearing masking to top service.

Always satisfied with the food I order from China Chef. Delivery is always quick, and collection is always hassle free. I usually opt for the usual items of crispy shredded beef, duck pancakes and special fried rice. Good portions, and the 1/4 duck comes already off the bone which saved a lot of messing around.

Order my food with a child at the desk which I think I wrong for a start. No checking! Then my sauce is not added to sweet and sour chicken balls which is the whole idea. Then the manager tells me he packed the bag himself and I must look in my car when the bag was tied. Food not great at all. Shame!!

Was nice first couple times after that food was at our door in 10-15 mins and nothing is cooked properly they haven't even tried to make it nice so won't be going back if that's how they treat regular customers

Ordered through Just Eat, so paid online. Feeling so bad I didn't give a tip when our food arrived. (No change ☹). . Because not only was it so prompt, but also so damm delicious. Decent flavours, and all hot and fresh. No slop or over sugared dishes in my opinion. Thanks China chef. . Our new fave.

We have ordered meals from this restaurant twice now over the last two weeks, both times it has been delivered right on time and hot. Friendly driver. Food was lovely and nicely prepared. Will be using them again for sure.

Very tasty food and large portions! The takeaway was delivered 5 minutes early which was great and once I started eating I knew I'd picked a good one.

Terrible, staff were rude when it was their error. Swearing at me and hanging up. Telling me there was no driver to deliver. They took our money and refused to supply what we ordered. Then we asked for a refund and they refused to give us our order or money back. The language spoken to me upset me deeply. And it is highly embarrasing praising their food to our friends that we ordered with just to have such terrible service. Would not recommend unless you are having a bad day and fancy shouting and arguing with someone

My husband and I decided to try this Chinese takeaway for a change. it will be the first and last time. The rice dish was not Egg fried rice, it was boiled rice that had set in the container no egg to be seen(possibly frozen). The duck dish we had, was so hot with chilli, we couldn't eat it. The seafood dish we ordered had 2 mussels, 2 prawns and 2 pieces of squid. The House Special chow Mein, the vegetables were not fresh and it looked like mush and tasted revolting. As I said, NEVER AGAIN. When I phoned, to express my feeelings I had silence at the end of the phone. No sorry, nothing.

Ordered last night and I was impressed by the vegetable dishes we ordered - pak choi was good with nice small pak choi, broccolli was also tender and tasty rather than slimey as it can be from take-aways sometimes. The vegetarian singapore noodles were really good, king prawn with ginger and spring onion also lovely and a good amount of king prawns. sesame prawn toast was a little greasy so wouldnt order again. Will use China Chef again for sure.

Swift online ordering - delivered within 45 minutes. Generous piping hot portions and really tasty. Highly recommended.

Have now had three or four takeaway delivery from here. Food was fresh and did not taste greasy or re-used, portion sizes generous, duck comes already shredded, Singapore spicy noodles tasty although rice noodles are not used!? Only once had to wait up to an hour. Staff on phone could be more polite, and they won't believe we are in the three mile radius for free delivery so we always have to pay the one pound charge! All in all we are happy with them , but in a blink of an eye this may change! So will keep you enthusiastic foodies posted.

My family are regular customers of China Chef and their food and service had always been paramount. We have never been to the shop itself however every single delivery we've had has been prompt and piping hot. The cost per dish isn't too bad, but worth every penny for that once in a while treat. The food is never greasy, very flavoursome and all round amazing. We've left a lot of money at that takeaway and will probably be eating from there very soon!

Tasty, fresh, large portions. Prepared very, very quickly. The downside is, when collecting from this restaurant, there is nowhere to park. Not their fault perhaps, but it does make things awkward.

Our first takeaway for a while as the last one (nearer home) was a whole world of beige. This saw a number of dishes, loads of flavour and colour and all made very quickly and reasonable priced Well worth a visit

You get lots of food and flavour set menu 2 you get so much for 7-8 quid love it driver well couldn't find his way out of a carrier bag but the chef lucky knows his way in the kitchen

Lived near to China Chef but never noticed, so gave it a go, despite some of these bad reviews. Have to say I was very pleased. It's a takeaway, so I'm not expecting fine dining. All the dishes we ordered were really nice. Prawn toast (good portion size) and spare ribs (fall off the bone meat) to start. Singapore fried rice (nicely spiced and plenty of meat) and duck udon (a little plain tasting but decent). Crispy shredded beef (nice and crispy, could do with more sauce) and salt and chilli chicken (spicy and tasty). All in all very good takeaway. Not greasy at all and averaged less than £5 per dish. I will definitely go back!!!

Delivery time was great, it didn't take long for the food to arrive and it was also piping hot. However, I've never had Chinese food as awful as this one. We had ordered three dishes (a curry, a beef dish and a duck dish with orange sauce). None of them came with any rice, so beware if you want to order. All food was drowned in sauce that tasted either bland or artificial (fake oranges, anyone ?).The meat didn't taste of anything either.As much as I appreciated the free prawn cracker and the speedy delivery, I will not order from this place again if there are still other options available.
