Really pleased. Popped in because was only place open. Was not dissatisfied or disappointed. Chips were amazing, nice Sausages and curry sauce was incredible. very fair value too! Will be back

Easy telephone order and food was ready at time agreed. Loved the pea fritter, chips were proper 'fish&chips' chips and the curry sauce was excellent.

Its a very nice place to get a fish and chips. As my family have been going to this chippy since it's open we know the extremely kind owners, they even gave me sweets and chocolates around a month before my birthday last year.

Visited on the 15/08/24. The food quality at China Chef is superb, especially the curry sauce which is only surpassed by the friendliness of the owners. Overall, as good now as it was 12 years ago when I lived locally (Lyneham). Thanks China Chef, keep up the great food and impeccable service, you’re a credit to RWB.

First time visiting as happened to pass through Royal Wootton Bassett on way home and hungry. Ordered fishcake and chips (They're a chip shop as well as Chinese takeaway), and it was very nice indeed. What was even nicer were the owners, who were absolutely lovely!! 🥰

We had 62 excellent meals provided for our quiz evening. Helen was so helpful from out initial conversation and went out of her way to provide a great service. Highly recommended.

Cannot more highly rate. Would seriously recommend anyone going!! Try the curry sauce as well .. its amazing

First time visiting China Chef today (21/05/2024) was greeted so warmly by the lovely lady I just knew the Fish & Chips were going to be delicious! and they were! 10/10

We've been using China Chef to supply the fish and chips for our quiz nights for many years now. They are always hot, fresh, taste amazing and very well received. Helen and her family are extremely helpful and friendly.

Nothing special except serving lady was friendly. Fish seemed to be fried in stale oil and chips were soggy. Not recommended and won't return.

Been going to China Chef since I was at school, 30 years ago. Curry sauce is the best around! If she's closed I get really sad because no where does food like these guys! They're ultra friendly and if I can't have my food from here, I don't have chips etc from anywhere else!

We decided to call China Chef for our chippy tea on a busy friday night. We were able to call up and place an order in advanced so that we could collect later in the evening. The food was still piping hot on collection, and was of fantastic quality and taste. The homemade curry sauce is to die for, and I wish I knew their secret recipe. All for a very reasonable price as well. 10/10. 5*****

First time visiting China Chef yesterday and was a great first time experience. Lady behind counter absolutely lovely, very kind and chatty. Family run business for 45+ years aswell which is nice. Only slight downfall is that the food is quite expensive compared to other chippys, but I suppose the price reflects the quality of the food because it is delish. Curry sauce quite oily but apart from that very tasty!!!

Organised a fish and chip evening for my elderly neighbours in the communal lounge of our block of flats - Helen was super-friendly, the food was ready for collection on time and the child portions much larger than expected. Most have used China Chef before. All enjoyed their meal and would use again..

Amazing food and excellent atmosphere and the staff are superb and friendly would recommend calling in advance as they get busy and Cook things fresh to order so there can be a small wait but it worth it

Visited here today. The reasons for 4 star review but everything else being 5 is that they advertise both English and Chinese food but only have an English menu. Staff are lovely and friendly. Pie, chips sausage and curry sauce are absolutely amazing. You won’t find a chippy better than this in Bassett. Well worth a visit.

We were travelling back from Calne to Windsor Berkshire Thursday 24th August in the evening and saw this take away so decided to pull over. The service was excellent and the couple were so friendly and polite. The battered sausage and chips were the best we have tasted in a very long time. We had a lovely chat whilst the meal was being wrapped up and learned that this family have been running this take away for over 40 years in Royal Wootton Bassett. I was given the telephone number in case I ever needed to pre-order my meal on the way through in the future. China Chef are a well established take away and I cannot fault the food, it was really tasty and piping hot, adding service with a smile and genuine niceness made the visit so worth while!! Helen was very attentive towards special dietary requirements within our family gathering, offering several dishes that could be cooked in a different way to assist with these issues. All enjoyed and it meant that everyone was included. Thankyou!! Highly recommend this great chippy!!

I have some awkward food allergies that make take away food challenging for me. Helen and her team were super helpful in recommending menu items that are suitable for me and even offered to cook something to order for me. The food was exceptionally good in comparison to other chip shops in the area, and I would recommend them to everyone.

Came to see family for the weekend and popped into China chef for some fish and chips. The fish was lovely and white which melted in your mouth, the chips were nice and fresh with no eyes. This place is the best chippy I have been to in a while. All cooked fresh to order, yet still only waited under 10 minutes. Large cod was succulent and well cooked in light batter. I had ‘small’ chips but they we anything but small....
