Really good food and good service - the staff were really friendly!

The food and service was lovely. All the service staff were really kind and gave us great recommendations. The atmosphere was very calm and the decor was beautiful. I had a great time - highly recommend!

We were treated so kindly and taken well care of. Not only was the food excellent, but the waiter was honest with how much food we'd need (between my wife and I) as well. I'll most definitely be back soon.

A beautiful atmospheric resturant which is intimate without feeling overcrowded. Staff were so welcoming, friendly, and very honest about portion sizes and how much food we would need between the two of us - saving money and food waste. Would highly recommend and we will definitely be coming back in the future. Thank you for a lovely time!

It’s the first time we tried this place. Being a vegetarian and my husband being a non vegetarian, it’s very difficult to find a place to eat with proper veg and non veg food. Hands off this is the best place in UK for both options. Ambiance is nice and staff is friendly too. It’s a bit confusing to find the entrance, it’s in upstairs right next to the ‘The bolan Thai restaurant’ Highly recommend if you’re looking for an Indian restaurant to eat around in Reading. Also don’t forget to try their home made ice creams!

Always the best service when I come to Chillis. The staff are so lovely and attentive, food is absolutely delicious, and authentic. I would really recommend the Butter Chicken and Garlic Naan!

Had multiple good meals here, using it as a safe springboard into new dishes when I've come with friends and family. Spice can be accommodated for. Would recommend the Chilli Mojo (spicy chips) and Chicken Chettinadu

The food is amazing. However, we had to wait an hour and a half for our main course after we have ordered (hour after starter). It seemed that Delivery drivers were prioritised. Recommend ordering from this place instead of attending the restaurant.

The food and ambience both are really good. We tried garlic naan , paneer gravy , biryani and dal makhni it's the best in town especially the naan is soft and tasty. We have done both down in and online orders and the quantity is generous and love the food. The only cons is the paneer gravy had too much oil floating.

Oh wow, I eat a lot of Indian food but was blown away by this indo-chinese offering. The menu choice was extensive, and while the starters appeared expensive, they were double the normal portions (you could share one probably if they weren't so good). Then the main course was outstanding. Our party have already booked their next visit. The same complex has Thai, Vietnamese, and Korean food, but while these seemed to be far more busy, this is probably because they are on the ground floor and easier to find. That suits me if I can have Chilis with a smaller crowd. I will be back, multiple times until I have a bad experience. Definitely my Reading no 1 for now.

We visited after a lot of recommendations and were totally disappointed. Gobhi 65 was very good. But other than that, we ordered paneer makhani, malai kofta, butter naan and garlic naan. None of these were acceptable. Too creamy, bit sweet and naans weren’t soft. Would definitely not visit again.

Bit hard to find upstairs at the back of the Mall, but staff were very friendly and the dining room very relaxed at lunch. Huge menu but I had to try one of the three cauliflower dishes I had heard about. Chose the Gobi Manchurian; deliciously hot and spicy. Added the mutton fry which was lovely tender mutton chunks in a dry curry with cashews. Both tasted different even if not very photogenic! Not cheap, but the portion sizes were huge. Would return and order starters to share. Very tasty food and helpful staff.

Food quality has degraded over last 6 months. Visited today, it wasn't that good. Eat biriyani which was just okay. Paneer Spring roll was stale, service is good. It was replaced by veg machurian. However veg manchurian wasn’t cooked from inside. We didn't feel like complaining again so just packed it.

I came across Chilis because of a local food blog I follow (Edible Reading) and I’m so glad I did because our first trip was every bit as good as that review said it was and of course, experiencing delicious food yourself is always so much better than just reading about it! I am really impressed with the quality of the cooking, it was fantastic and I feel really pleased Reading has Chilis, it’s all the better for it. It will be our new go-to for Indian food and we really look forward to going back to try out some other dishes. This time round we had gobi Manchurian to start (a portion size suitable for two people so don’t be too put off by slightly higher prices for starters) and then the gongura lamb and dum ka murg for mains which were both delicious, the lamb being standout. The service was friendly and they seemed genuinely happy that we had enjoyed ourselves! Looking forward to seeing you again soon, Chilis!

The place and the people seemed nice. However we sat at our table and for a long time no one came to take our order. When they eventually did, we were asked about the level of spiciness we wanted so we said 'medium'. We didn't want our food to be completely bland nor did we want it to be drowned in chillies. Moreover in every other place we have eaten, 'medium' spiciness has worked. Not at Chillis. Here 'medium' means "set on fire". We couldn't eat beyond a few spoonfuls. The food itself didn't seem bad. But if you are anything like me and my (Indian) family then make sure you ask them to tone down on the spiciness.

It is a great place with calming music and incredible staff. The waiters are helpful and patient. The food was incredible, with portions big enough to satisfy any hunger.

I have been trying to find a great place to eat Indian food in Reading; however, I didn’t manage to find the expected spot until I visit this restaurant. It couldn’t get better. I recommend that you try the Chicken Tikka Masala alongside with the Chili Garlic Naan. Absolutely delicious! The best spot to eat Indian food in Reading without a doubt.

This was my first time in this restaurant . Chef is from Hyderabad but food tastes like North Indian for my daal makhani. This was my second best daal makhani in Uk . Portion is really amazing better than all Indian restaurants in uk. Gulab jamun was also amazing. Roti’s were too soft .Prices are little bit up but worth for this kind of fast food. I just love the food. I can visit reading again just to eat in chilis . Thanks for amazing food.

Excellent, food haven’t had anything quite like this locally. I would recommend the lamb. Very tender. Furthermore, there is food being offered here which you cannot see in other restaurants. Family run business which operates flawlessly.

Absolutely fantastic food! We had mutton fry, chicken 65, basmati rice and gongura lamb curry. Everything was so flavourful, meat was so tender :) Really satisfied, will visit again.

I was looking for a great restaurant in reading and finally I found it. It was amazing Indian curry, good atmosphere and friendly kind staff too. I had lunch 8 hours ago and I'm still so happy. I will definitely come back!

The restaurant is lovely decorated with a very nice atmosphere. The food was all very fresh and tasty and not overly oily. Fantastic amount of spice level. Good potion sizes. Really good selection of vegetarian options. I loved the chilli Mogo.

We came here for my daughter’s birthday and Anjan was great host. He cooked a sample of corn soup for girls and they loved it. Great food and hospitality - rare combination.

This little gem is tucked away in a small enclave near the town centre. The ambience is decent and warm and the service is friendly and attentive. The winner is the food, from the starters to all mains, it was a wonderful combination of tastes and flavours which continued to wow. Would recommend the starters we had of pepper chicken, chicken 65, Mongolian paneer and Fish Amritsari. Mains were excellent with the chicken gongura and garlic naans being fresh and thin. Chiken biryani was excellent and my mouth is watering as I write up this review. Will definitely be visiting again and recommend this restaurant highly

GREAT MEAL AND LOVELY ATMOSPHERE, We had an amazing dinner, my kids and wife loved the food, it had pure indian flavours and the spice was just right. Was overall a great place and I would recommend! We met the head chef and the staff who served the food were lovely and very much welcoming.

Hidden gem Indian in central Reading. Reasonably priced, great service, relaxed atmosphere and most of all, incredible food. Highly recommend.

Tried their mutton Haleem which is authentic taste and surprised with their size of chilli garlic prawns which is amazing and the garlic naan was very soft. The service was good by Ms.Era and had a good feel with relaxing music and ambience

Best and I believe the only place to get Andhra style gongura curries in reading. I tried Gongura paneer curry It was absolutely delicious.

It’s not Indo-chinese cuisine, literally just INDO…..

I can bet this is the best Indian dining place in Reading. I have tried almost all the veg dishes and all of those are tasty. My favs are dal tadka, daal makhini and adraki aloo gobhi

What a beautiful restaurant with amazing food and great service. It is a family run restaurant and they are very accommodating to your needs. We had Mutton fry and Chicken Majestic some of the best starters I’ve had and had their speciality Hyderbadi Dum biryani with Lassi. And Kotthu Paratha.They also make their own ice cream and the Ginger and coconut was very flavoursome. I would highly recommend trying it as you won’t go to any other Indian in Reading! This is my first time at Chilis Indian restaurant. The ardently celebrated Valentine’s Day was giving us bad luck. We found the tables were all booked and it might take longer to get a place. We just hopped off to other places to find it is the same case everywhere. There is so much love in the world and most restaurants had overflowing queues outside their doors. Luck favoured us and booked a table. It was an hour long wait. Finally we are in our seats. The restaurant was classy with beautiful paintings, loved the interior. The flatwares and silverwares were elegant with pristine white serviette. The orange juice arrived swiftly followed by lemonade and lassi. Next arrived the starters The gobi manchurian The cut Mirchi The chicken 65 All three were perfect and tastes better than any restaurant in UK The main course The egg kothu parotta The veg noodles And egg Dum Biriyani Raita and mirchi salan accompanied the biriyani and parotta. Not eaten this variation of kothu parotta for quite a long time.Taste texture and temperature was nice. Combination of this parotta salan and raita is delicious. The veg noodles, the authentic taste of a south Indian noodles. Tasted delicious, children were happier. The Biriyani is the superhero in a word “ambrosial” Highly recommend the experience, not just the taste but the ambiance too. Friendly service by all staffs. Will visit again Chilis. Keep up the good work. Next visit hoping to have the Matka kulfi🤗.

What can I say, went there on a quiet thursday afternoon lunch time and we were the only customers in the restaurant.. Food did arrive promptly and I particularly liked the starters but that's pretty much it...the biryani was upto the mark and the lamb curry was bad to say the least (the meat was so hard that I need to cut again with the 🔪) I was charged a 12.5% service charge..although I don't have any complaints on the service and I dont mind a service charge I do find this one as steep for 2 people... Overall food wasn't such that you would want to go back( I certainly will not go back) and it is on the pricey side for the experience they provide...much better options available right in the door step if you are looking for a good restaurant..

I had a great time with my team of mixed origin. Everyone loved the starters. We ordered Chilli Chicken, Veg Manchurian, Crispy Corn and a few paneer dishes. The main course was also good , my favourite was garlic nan.

Had been to Chillis restaurant with no expectations. I've tasted veg - Gobi manchurian, chilli panneer, mirchi baggi and non-veg chicken dum biryani, andhra chepalu pulusu. Every dish was truly authentic south indian (nice mix of spicy masala), this was the best ever indian food in Reading area.

We party of 11 went for Dinner on Friday evening, great food , service and atmosphere, they were quiet busy for Friday evening but still managed to bring our food in a decent time, considering we are 11 and multiple varieties of starters ordered, staff were very friendly . One item stood out of all was Mutton Fry, never ever had a mutton fry that good anywhere else. We will definitely go there again and have the mutton fry 😀

Food was amazing and staff were very friendly. We went with my office colleagues Especially crispy corn, pepper mushrooms, mutton fry, Chicken Dum Biryani and Haleem are superb, taste was autentic and fresh, great quality and spice level is just perfect(you can choose your spice level like mild, medium, hot,). We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here. Everything we ordered was excellent, the Vegetable Samosa Chat and Crispy Corn were particularly good (I'd never tried these before). The staff were super friendly too, and they'll happily spice things up (or down) to your liking. Highly recommended, we'll go back for sure!

If you ever wanna try Indian cuisine than do yourself a favour just go in and enjoy the flavours at Chilis Indian Restaurant. Without a doubt one of the best restaurant that serves ‘Dum Biryani’. Customer service is Outstanding(the best I have ever seen); extremely professional and knowledgeable.

Server standing on one side of the table asking customers for plates from other side of the table while cleaning up. We sat at a place where the whole table was accessible from all sides. No cleaning up table for desserts - all a bit odd- while the default is a discretionary(?) service charge - 10/15%- don’t remember. I felt the place was understaffed as well for servers/ waiters.

My first time, and what a memorable one, too. We were very lucky as walk-ins, on a Friday night, to get a table. 15 minutes later they were turning people away. The service was very good, the food exceptional, with very generous portions. We started with vegetable samosas, Gobi Manchurian, and Chicken Mongolian. These two latter two dishes are shown. They were absolutely spot on. The combinations of spices and the textures were mouthwatering. For mains we ordered Lamb Palak, Chetinadu fish, chana masala, and garlic and chili naan. For those of you who regularly eat in the area, Clay's will be known to you. This has long been my favourite local restaurant. I have to say that Chili's is comparable, perhaps better, than Clay's. Try it, I'm sure that you'll not be disappointed. The meal was helped along by several bottles of Rioja.

Really good Indian restaurant, with great service

Just about ok considering the paucity of quality Indian restaurants in the Reading area. For the price I thought the service was not up to the mark.
